This is a solid sushi place. They make the fresh ginger carrot salad dressing which I love (I am always so disappointed when restaurants try to pass off that oily bottled stuff as ginger dressing). The spicy tuna roll is good. I would bump them up to five stars if they put romaine lettuce and cucumbers in their salad (it's just a bunch of iceberg with a few shredded carrots but the dressing is so good). I would also like some spicy Mayo on my spicy tuna roll but now I know to ask for it. US Sushi is not as good as Sushi Republic (near UNCG) or Fuji (on Pisgah Church) but this is the only solid sushi place with fresh ginger dressing near my house. read more

Maybe today was an off day? I mean there really is no way to put it but the food is horrible. The shrimp tempura was bland, what good does it do if you fill my plate up with fried carrots? My friend recommended US Sushi because I was craving Japanese. At first glance the prices of single entree hibachi meals had me already wanting to leave. BUT, we all know that sometimes when a dish is priced a bit more expensively it's because better quality/portion. I PROMISE you the hibachi chicken had approximately 10-13 pieces, a scoop of rice, and a portion of vegetables about the size of a side at a steakhouse. The size of the white sauce was 2 ounces, and the chicken was dry. My total bill was $16! FOR WHAT?! I ordered a water.. I will never return and definitely won't recommend to anyone. We walked in about 40 min before closing for a quick meal. We ordered a crazy roll, chicken curry clay pot, and hibachi chicken for about $48.00 to split. What alarmed me the most what how fast the food came out, it didn't even feel like 5 minutes of a wait! The food was warm and overall good, not amazing. I enjoyed the ginger dressing on the salad and the soup was not too salty. The curry was a little bland for me. The crazy roll was given to us in 5 massive pieces which I couldn't fit in my mouth, I probably looked ridiculous trying to fit it in there (that's what she said). The hibachi was ok as well. I am pretty much obsessed with the little bento boxes here! I came for lunch a few months back and intended to write a good review for it...then I totally forgot... So here I am. Looking at the place from the outside, I would never think to go here. It's in a little shopping center and the name "US Sushi," does not make me think of good sushi. But I was so, so wrong. The décor inside is bright and nice. The sanitation is good, and the food tasted really fresh. I highly recommend the bento box lunch. It's a good value and comes in a little boat shaped dish. The service in the High Point is okay. The waitresses and waiters are quickly overwhelmed, but still very friendly. The sushi chefs are wonderful. They usually give a roll on the house when you order a few rolls. The sushi itself is very fresh and delicious. My favorites are the Godzilla roll and the Moonlight roll. Their ponzu sauce is absolutely delightful and their salad dressing is one of the bests. I braved the snow and ice to meet a friend for dinner at US Sushi the other night and all in all I was not disappointed in my experience. US Sushi has been in this location for ten years now and perhaps some of the locals will recall that this was also one of the original Ham's locations back in the mid to late 90's and early 2000's. Ham's moved across and down the street near the cine-plex when the Palladium opened. The sushi menu is large and offers both raw and cooked rolls. I won't go into all the choices then other to say, there is a lot. They offer some with jalapeno if that is your thing and there is also spicy sauce on some of the rolls. I've eaten here before but, it was far too long ago to remember what I had other than they had one roll called "route 66" which I enjoyed. I didn't see this on the menu this time around so I chose the crab roll. The flavor and texture of the crab roll was perfect. It wasn't too rubbery like what you get in the grocery store. With a dab of wasabi and some soy, the taste factor dialed in just perfectly. If you go here, give this roll a try. Pepsi is the anchor soft drink and they have a full bar. My dinner guest and I also ordered hibachi. I got snapper and NY strip. If there was a low point in the meal this was it. I could only find about three pieces of steak (I am exaggerating slightly here but, not far from it). The vegetables far outweighed the quantity of meat served. The snapper was light and flaky and in hindsight to my taste, shrimp would have been a better a choice in this dish. The reason is because the fish just came apart and got lost in the meal. Don't get wrong, it was tasty but, it did not compliment the meal that much. Next time I will stick with either shrimp and steak/chicken or just the meat alone. The overall hibachi flavor was there but, there are better places to get it. The other thing that made this dining experience is that we had the place all to ourselves due to the winter storm. I'll say it was quite nice. My companion even asked jokingly if I had rented the place for the evening in an attempt to woo her over. A good experience overall. I'd definitely repeat if it was just sushi I was looking for. I may try the hibachi again but, would order one with out fish. read more

I don't really eat sushi there as I find them becoming expensive very fast. Sushi was good however the manager was rude and discriminatory towards my 3 year old grandson who is hearing impaired. A waitress was sent to our table to inform us that my grandson could NOT watch a video on my iPhone. The sound volume was not loud as it was not interfering with conversation at our own table. The restaurant was busy and loud with talking and laughter. The video on a cell phone was in no way interfering with other diners. Any establishment that would treat a child (who by the way sat quietly at the table thru the entire dinner service) in such a way should not be in the hospitality service profession. This location was bought out by new owners a few years back and with it went customer service. The staff is rude and they could use an English class or two. They close mid day from 2:30 to 4:00. I arrived at 2:10 and was told they could not serve me because they close at 2:30. Why was the door not locked at 1:30 so they would not be inconvenienced by those pesky customers who pay their bills? I have given them an extra try because I do like the food but they have zero importance of customer service. They never have a crowd there like the other owners had and I suspect other people are sick of their service also. This is their last chance! Just plain rude! read more

They are seating every booth and table in the restaurant during a pandemic. I understand businesses are trying to stay afloat, but seating tables less than 3 feet apart is unacceptable. I've been going to this restaurant for years and it remains as my favorite go-to place for great hibachi and sushi. It's a great environment for those who want to converse with friends and the waiters are always very polite and perceptive about the littlest things, such as filling up our drinks or giving us more napkins without us asking. My favorite lunch special is the spicy teriyaki bento box with steamed rice, gyoza, and korroke! I've been to both locations of US Sushi, and this one is my favorite. Don't get me wrong. I still love this place. They have a few issues so it's a strong 3.5 but we don't have half stars. So 4 it gets. So the bad: It's service at times does drag it down. And I don't like the dinner menu prices when the quantity looks to be about the same as lunch. I'd recommend reducing lunch portion size AND reducing dinner price by a little for both to make it more reasonable. It's on the end of a strip mall so parking is available although you may have to traverse some potholes with a little walk. If you go during rush hour (lunches, dinner) you may have a short wait for a table, and will likely have to use the extended parking area along the other stores. The good: Sushi is always fresh and the chefs do a nice job of rolling and plating. I would like to see the menu redesigned but it's just a small pet peeve. Service is usually great but does dip at times with new staff or short staffed. There are usually new rolls being tried every couple of months, and when you order often enough you can usually count on a delete roll to try. Sometimes the new roll! They have hibachi, Benton boxes, and even noodles. It's sufficiently varied that picky eaters can avoid raw foods or someone feeling adventurous could find a new combination to try. read more

The US Sushi at Friendly Center was pretty good so I had high hopes for this one. I shouldn't have. The decor and atmosphere was tired and old. US Sushi trumps them all. Several times I have experienced sushi in much more expensive, swanky, and trendy restaurants that do not even compare to the incredibly delicious rolls here. Always fresh and full of flavor, what they create here is sushi magic. It seems as if it gets better with each visit. I've been a regular here for about 5+ years and am always personally greeted by the chefs and servers. They always graciously treat me to a roll on the house which really shows the appreciation they have for their customers. My go-to rolls are Hurricane, Godzilla, TNT, High Point, Carolina, Volcano, Jalapeño, and Crispy. Their filet mignon hibachi will melt in your mouth and they have the best sauces I have ever tasted, especially the spicy mayo and mustard sauces. Always, always impeccable! read more

We wanted to have some sushi last night but the place we went does not have a sushi chef at the moment. So they did send us here. Given that Sushi at the other place is good, we trusted their recommendation. What a mistake!! Sushi shall be made by order, it is all about fresh ingredients. We ordered 2 cooked and 2 raw rolls. All of them a disaster. There was just no taste. The raw ones (sunrise and ninja roll) were supposed to be spicy. Indeed, the Sunrise Roll was spicy due to the hot sauce on top. But that was pretty much all you could taste. The seaweed salad on top also has had better times... The Ninja roll was even worse - the crunchy was not crunchy, no taste either. Only taste to be found was the mayonnaise sauce on top. When we shared our disappointment with the waiter he did not really care. Indeed, he was already gone before we even finished our sentence... I definitely can not recommend this place at all. I am not that picky with sushi especially not when I am that hungry as I was yesterday. But this has for sure been the worst sushi ever. Buy some sushi at the grocery and you have your money better spent. Sorry guys... Really needs improvement here. The one star is only because it need to be at least a one. read more

Visited US Sushi this past Saturday. Service was excellent. We tried several sushi rolls including the special lobster roll and everything was delicious. So I used to live in High Point a couple years ago and US Sushi was one of my favorite places to go to get sushi. Then I traveled a bit and realized that this was going to be the best of what you can get in High Point for sushi standards.. The people are very friendly and the owners will occasionally drop some free sushi for you. The sushi is modestly innovated by different tastes and incorporating sushi ingredients, but still it is what it is for High Point. The pricing is very decent for what you are getting and the wine/bar options are very minimal but still there. It is a good place to go on a first date, sushi lunch/dinner with friends, but not a good place for actual important anniversaries or business meetings. It is a good place to dine and have good sushi but if you are still looking for the best in town or area, I am still searching for one as well. read more

I ordered a sizzling shrimp hibachi plate and I didn't really like it so I tried to order something else. When the waiter came, first she said I couldn't get a refund. Secondly, the manager came and look at my plate and I literally took one bite. She told me she couldn't take it back because I poured too much sauce on it.
