They added some new decor onto the door & the entrance (warning: very warm in the tropical room.) we order a rainbow roll to start (ended up with a hair stuck in the rice under the fish 2 pieces in). Tonight we got the Love Boat to split between four of us and it was great! For $65, you get a chefs choice of nigiri, shashimi, and 4 rolls. We got one deluxe roll and a few spicy tuna, Philly, and a yellowtail roll. Everything was fresh and it provided a lot of variety. Between four of us, we almost ate everything so the portion was great for the table. Wow! I honestly never thought I would say that about a chain sushi place, but I had the best experience at lunch at the High Point US Sushi. I went with my two of my coworkers and we were seated immediately. The young man who took care of us was attentive, considerate, and handled our table with great care. We ordered a bento boxes and a few sushi rolls and we loved every bit of it. The star of the show was honestly the hibachi steak and the tempura vegetables. The steak, where most restaurants it's tough or a cheap cut, was so mouthwatering and delicious. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection! The tempura vegetables were encased in a light and crispy batter and lightly fried, exactly as I like it. The sushi rolls were also incredible, and very filling. You definitely get your money's worth at every turn. The lunch bento boxes are very reasonable and the sushi rolls are priced about like any other sushi restaurant in the area. I will definitely be back for lunch soon. Covid: Masks were worn by all employees and all customers. My last order for my Mom and friend was not correct or good. I am low on funds and they ordered expensive meals so I didn't eat. I did call and share my dismay with the owner with whom I consider a friend. He apologized and said my next entree would be free. I took my BFF and another friend who we always celebrate their birthdays together. I saw owner and reminded him of my Mom and friends order and I would get next entree for free. I have been so loyal to this restaurant for over 2 decades. So while speaking to owner who knows what I always order, he said no worries I take care of you and I mentioned that we were celebrating 2 girls birthdays. Free app and that was it. We thought that was a birthday treat for them. I ordered nothing because I "assumed" Chef was preparing my sashimi. WRONG! That was my dinner. I was so mad I refused to order anything during this birthday celebration. Waitress came at end of my friends' dinners and offered me hibachi chicken rice and veggies. I had no choice and it certainly wasn't what I wanted. As predicted the chicken was so tough even my friends couldn't chew it. Ordered a LOT of sushi for dinner. Was craving for it and quickly googled this place to see its rating. Seeing as to how it had good reviews on google, we made a snap decision to eat here. The boat full of rolls finally arrived, and once we started digging in, it didn't take us long to realize that picking this place was the wrong decision. Nothing tasted good. Absolutely nothing. Barely any sauce on most of it, cooked rolls weren't even hot nor warm. So I'm not sure when exactly the cooking happened; but it definitely didn't happen after we ordered. Everything just tasted so disgusting. All of the rolls that contained tempura shrimp we had were mostly cucumber; and they were ALL cold. That special lobster roll they have was drowning in mayonnaise. No parsley or anything; doesn't even look anything like the crappy photo they have of it in the menu. I wanted to gag halfway through the meal. Icing on the cake was the waitress that tended to us. Although decent, she kept coming back every 10 minutes. We just wanted to eat our damn food in peace, we couldn't understand why can't she leave us the fck alone??? Always asking is the food good; like girl, NAH. Your food is horrible! We also ordered so much that I honestly forgot what we put in. But the enumerated list in the receipt had rolls that I honestly don't think were originally part of our order, but since I wasn't sure, I didn't want to give our server a hard time. We come here every time for the carolina roll. It is absolutely the best sushi roll I have ever had! The other rolls here are okay, but nothing tops the carolina roll. I had the samurai (sub par), and my boyfriend had the dancing eel which he loved! I think the samurai is a bit misleading because it is listed under a raw roll but it is entirely fried.
