Shinjuku has been open for awhile now, and I have had the chance to visit a couple more times for what were more typical experiences post-honeymoon phase. In the end, I just don't feel my original 5 holds up. The restaurant is absolutely a super cool concept, tech forward, and fun for groups and people new to the sushi scene to try some things. When it comes to the actual eating experience though, the taste just doesn't hit home for me the way it did when it opened. Every sushi roll I got was so over-coated in sauces that it's all you could taste in your bite. That's either a heavy handed chef, or a mask for flavors you might not enjoy. In my mouth unfortunately, it just makes a texture-less mess, and part of what I enjoy about sushi is the layering of textures. Not that I expect to be blown away by AYCE sushi, but I had hoped for better than what I got. More simple nigiri pieces were ok. The seared tuna wasn't seared at all really, no brown carbonization, just a little grey. That doesn't impart the desired flavor. Hibachi options were also just fine, when originally, that was a strong point here. That people who didn't absolutely love sushi would still have good option to order. There was one vegetarian roll that included strawberry, mango, avocado that was very good, but again, the amount of sweet chili sauce poured over it was overbearing. I found myself scraping it off any way I could. Finally, one very annoying thing. The items on the conveyor didn't have any labels. Not even our server knew what some of them are. It's common practice to put a little flag before a row of items goes out so people know what they are. It creates food waste, or shuts people with some kind of allergy off entirely due to not knowing what things are. All in all, the novelty of the eye candy has worn off for me, and I just don't enjoy the food as much as other options in the area, even in the AYCE sushi space. But, this is definitely an experience a first timer would love, and it's fun for families.
Good service. Good food. Good ambiance. Fun atmosphere. Very expensive (4 people $180 with no alcohol). All you can eat + add ons. Fun robots deliver your food.
I suggested this place to a colleague but really knowing what to expect myself. We got there right when it opened. The host was very patient with explaining how the experience works: all you can eat from the menu and the rotating food coming to your seating area except for drinks and dessert. The rotating food was a bit below l the level of Harris Teeter quality sushi . I ordered off the menu Hibachi Steak with veggies and rice. It was good just not hot enough. The food was delivered either by the waiter robot or a person. Overall it was a good experience.
Our family loves a good AYCE spot and Shinjuku delivered! The kids had a blast grabbing plates off the rotating conveyor belt. I loved that we were also able to order food off the iPad. We went on a weekday for an early lunch, so selections were limited - but we still ate our fill! The staff were super nice, clearing our empty dishes quickly and checking to see if we needed anything. Our little Robo server also did a great job bringing out the plates we ordered off the iPad. Great atmosphere - fun experience. This place is all about the experience. The place has a high tech, exotic vibe designed to feel like an Asian metropolitan train station. Once you pay the fixed price, you are welcome to enjoy any of the sushi that travels past on a conveyor belt or order items off the menu which are delivered by a robot. We had eight in our party which pushed the limits of comfort in the booth, but we all had fun. The hitch is that you do get charged for any leftovers, so choose carefully. The plates on the conveyor belt usually have 2 pieces each so you don't have to make a full commitment if you are unsure. The only drawbacks were that the process was a little unclear, the place feels a little dirty and rough around the edges, and the constant stimulus may be a bit much for some. Kids will love it and playful, adventurous adults will too.

We went after lunch hours on a weekend. Our server was really sweet and explained the whole concept of the AYCE sushi and how to place orders. The sushi off the belt and the food we ordered on the table, both were really good. The whole concept and experience made it even better. We did notice however, that as dinner time got closer, more options on the belt were added, both for sushi and desserts. So I would recommend going during meal hours to get the most options. A great experience nonetheless.
Wow wow honestly couldn't be more impressed with an all you can eat. The quality of the sashimi was simply outstanding, and they have very creative rolls as well. Service was excellent and to top it all off their version of fried donuts was worth coming back for daily!!
This is a really good, conveyor belt sushi restaurant. It looks like a modern subway station at the entrance and they have plenty on seating, booths and single seats. I went on a Friday afternoon, with my toddler, and was sat promptly in a booth. The gentleman that waited on me was very patient, polite and explained how everything worked in its entirety. I started with a mango margarita cocktail with no ice and it was very good, extremely flavorful and you could really taste the mango. The sushi that was coming through on that conveyor belt was so fresh! A started with a spicy tuna roll because it came by first. The right amount of spicy tuna to rice ratio made perfect by the pickled ginger that my server brought to the table. I proceeded to have a perfectly fried spring roll with sweet chilli sauce, a few super star sushi roll pieces, a few shrimp avocado roll pieces, Crab Rangoon and shrimp shumai. The sushi rolls and fried spring rolls came fresh across the conveyor belt. There is no way of knowing what the chefs will add to the belt but it's a good way to try something you may not normally order. Other sushi rolls, appetizers and small plates can be ordered from the tablet provided for the table. Only a few items can be ordered at one time. This restaurant tries its best to cut back on food waste and will limit orders and charge you for any excessive sushi on the table that you can then take home with you. The crab Rangoon and shrimp shumai were both very good. My son enjoyed the chicken nuggets and French fries. There's also ramen and noodle dishes, hibachi, chicken katsu and other items on the menu so there's something for everyone. I'll definitely return with my family so they can experience this restaurant!
The sushi is soooo good especially considering that it is on a conveyor belt and reasonably priced for all you can eat. I came here on a date night and we will be doing that again! The service is pretty quick and is a mix between people and robots which make the experience fun! The ambiance makes you feel like you are actually in a Japanese train station which is so fun and very unique for the area!
Love the theme of this place it's so fun!! You have two options for sushi- ordering full roles off the menu (6-8 pieces) or grabbing smaller servings off the conveyer belt (2-3 pieces). The conveyer also serves desserts and small appetizers occasionally. They also serve hibachi as part of the all you can eat. We love the sushi here. We've come here 4 times since they've opened and the staff has always been nice, I would say they're not the best at being on top of refills but this place is always packed and busy so I understand. The food is delicious they do get that out quick. Highly recommend trying the aloha roll, it's sweet and soft, almost like a dessert sushi roll.
This is a beautifully themed restaurant, decorated like a train station with trains and robots delivering orders directly to your table. The wait staff are really nice, greeting you with a smile and welcoming you back. There are plenty of food options and the lunch price was super reasonable for an unlimited meal. Some items do cost extra. The food is tasty but it's a must go for the experience. I've been here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner, and really enjoyed it! There is a huge amount of novelty here with the ambiance, decor, and overall style and function of the restaurant. Before this, I've never had a conveyor sushi experience, and my only exposure to all-you-can-eat sushi was low quality stuff at an asian buffet. The general concept is that every person at the table pays a flat rate to be seated. Lunch is a great deal, while dinner is a bit on the expensive side (though you can certainly get your money's worth). There is a regularly changing variety of sushi passing by on the conveyor belts and you can grab what you want anytime. Importantly though, they strongly discourage waste and will charge you per-piece for any sushi remaining on the table at the end of the night (though you can take it home) - This can get accidentally expensive fast. There is also an iPad where you can order many things to be brought direct to your table, which will arrive either by a train or a cool robot that drives around the restaurant. Interaction with staff is limited to drinks and picking up used plates. What I really appreciated is that on the iPad, you can order more traditional food like a hibachi plate, which is great for people in your party who aren't crazy about sushi. For my lunch visit, it was great all around and no complaints. For the dinner visit, they were much busier so some items ordered on the iPad came with such a delay that we had forgotten about them and ordered again - So we accidentally ended up with quite a bit left over to take home at the end of the night. Overall, this is a very fun experience, the food itself is very good quality, and a great way to spend a meal with friends!

Honestly such vibes. Interior is so cute and decorated to look like you're in a Japanese train. The sushi comes conveyer style but there's also more than just sushi. The selection is honestly quite good. There's appetizers, teriyaki (would recommend the salmon!), hibachi, sushi appetizers, all pretty good honestly! The sushi has good variety and I liked that each plate on the conveyer only comes with like two pieces so you can try so many more different options. Loved the experience, loved the food, loved the vibes. read more

Kudos to the setting. Def fills the shinjuku station/Tokyo metro vibes. Came with a group for the buffet lunch (steal at $18 per adult) you can grab food on the conveyor belt (inconsistent in terms of inventory) and order items on the iPad (5 at a time). The sushi is average at best in terms of freshness but it's a buffet so low expectation. There are robots which bring the food to your table (similar ones at din tau Fung dumplings) and is effective. The fried udon is surprisingly good. So are the chicken wings. Everything else like The tempura, Gyoza and sushi items are meh at best. Had to beg the waitress who was great for desserts at the end because they were not on the conveyor belt. She did bring back some tiramisu Would return for the pure volume but 1-2x a yr and only for lunch read more

A two star review is honestly extremely generous considering our experience. Let's start with the good first. The train station ambiance is extremely cool. They have a decent sized arcade section. They had anime playing on a big screen. The tech is different and it's fun to be served by a robot and a train car. They even have one of those cool cotton candy vending machines. The hostess was kind and so were our servers. Obviously they don't check in as often cause you order on a tablet but he still came by a few times to see how we were which was great. The food itself is where the experience is lacking severely. To start it off I was served a drink with stuff floating on top. The server replaced it for me no problem but that's never a pleasant start to your meal. You order on a tablet and can only order 4 things every 5 mins which made it a really slow unenjoyable process. We went at a weird time I guess right before dinner so when we first got there nothing was on the conveyer belt except some fruit but as we left it started up so they must turn it off between lunch and dinner service time which I wish we knew ahead of time. The appetizers came out quickly but they were all cold and extremely unappetizing. The tempura was soggy and chewy instead of light and crunchy. The calamari was honestly repulsive. It tasted like it came from the freezer and was microwaved. They give sauces with some of these items and some of them tasted like straight up A1 steak sauce which was really odd and it didn't pair well. The sushi took about 30 minutes or more to come out and after the wait it was unfortunately not worth it. We tried multiple specialty rolls and were not satisfied with any of them. The presentation was nice. The fried rolls arrived cold and soggy on the outside. I got just shrimp and imitation crab because I was honestly nervous to have anything raw once we tried the apps. My rolls were fishy not in a good way like in a rotten way and I didn't eat more than one bite of each of my rolls. The flavor was lacking and there was just something really off about it. Our server brought me some spicy mayo cause I was attempting to mask the flavor but I just couldn't do it. I genuinely would have preferred to eat grocery store sushi. My partner absolutely loves sushi and I've never seen him eat so little at an AYCE place. I'm uncertain if we were charged extra but we left a decent amount of food behind which we never do at AYCE places like Neo Sushi Express or Mr. Tokyo. It is so rare I leave a negative review but we left nauseous and both have upset stomachs tonight. We drove 45 mins to try so we definitely will not be back but I do hope they make some changes to improve cause it's a cool concept. If you're close to the Durham, Raleigh, or Chapel Hill area try the two places I mentioned instead. We have had great experiences at both and been multiple times. read more
I had never heard of or seen this place before but the wife and I were out and about and she had been there before . When I walked in I was like whoah lol it's like we are in a bullet train . The place was very bright but not too bright . Very clean as well . Staff were polite and helpful as well . When we got our food it was visually appealing as well as tasty . Also they have robots that come up to your table which I thought was cool as hell ! Overall very nice time and we'll be back read more
This was our first time with the revolving sushi experience. We arrived early on a Saturday night before the crowds got there. It was a pretty neat set up. Even walking in to the restaurant you felt like you were going through the bus tolls. We were seated next to the screens that had a continuous feed of being on an actual tram in Japan. Our waiter, Dylan was very nice and helpful. He explained that you paid one price and you could either order off of the menu or off of the revolving sushi belt that came by your table. The sushi that we picked out was pretty good. We are familiar with a lot of of the combinations of sushi, but we also tried a few new ones which were pretty good! Usually, when we go to a sushi restaurant, we will spend at least $100 so spending $26 a person wasn't too bad. There is a sign that does say there will be an additional charge if there is excessive sushi left over. I'm not sure what they consider excessive, but we only left three pieces on the table when we were finished. Hall recommend for a different sushi experience! read more
I was in the mood on a Saturday evening for hibachi. Was also in the mood for sushi as well. Also wanted to try a new place that we haven't been before. Hmm... decisions, decisions. Saw this place that had some cool looking pictures and videos and said hey, why not give it a try! Also, it had both hibachi and sushi which I was craving? AND it's all you can eat? Let's get it! You definitely cannot call this place a hidden gem because there were so many people outside waiting for a table. Went inside and was told it's going to be a 45 to 55 minute wait. We actually only waited about 15 minutes and were seated. They explained to us the process and how things worked, and then it was time for us to get down! Seeing the revolving sushi coming around our table was so fun! They do a very good job of labeling. What is coming your way so you don't grab something that you might not want to eat. It's pretty simple. Grab something and start eating! They also include a table tablet at your table for you to choose other items that you want such as hibachi, or specialty sushi rolls. Besides the revolving sushi belt that comes around your table, you might be greeted by a very cool robot. That will bring you entrees and sushi as well! They have so many options for everything. Appetizers we tried the crab ragoons and shumai. Both were very good. We didn't want to fill up on appetizers because we wanted to come for the main event. We tried the hibachi, both the steak and the chicken. If I had to choose, i'd the steak over the chicken. Both were very good, but I'm more of a state guy so that's probably why that would be my choice. Can't go wrong with either though. The sushi is excellent as well. If you want a more basic roll, I suggest getting the spicy crab roll. Has a nice subtle spicy kick to it that's not overpowering. My wife is excellent at picking specialty/fancy sushi rolls for us. She did an excellent job this evening again! Do yourself a favor and get the super star role. The interior of this place is so cool. Looks just like a station that you would see and travel through. Staff was excellent all around from the front host, to them clearing out empty plates after we were finished. They were excellent. This will definitely be a place that is in our rotation of restaurants in the triad that we will frequent. Can't wait to go back and enjoy again! read more
I was here for the vibes and the people and the novelty of the conveyor belt sushi. It's a fun time if you're there with a lot of people! It was about a 20 minute wait, so not bad. It can be very chaotic in there - but that the nature of conveyor belt sushi and AYCE. The sushi was definitely mid, the sushi felt like they were made in such a rush and sloppy - I've had AYCE sushi that had love and care behind it. The labels were often wrong on the conveyor belt and we had no idea what we were eating half the time. I did enjoy the hibachi quite a bit! And the hot buns and desserts were top tier. I think this may be one of the best all you can eat sushi in triad - to compare one that does not have sashimi option, another that needs you to add dollar for the entire table. I like they offer $10 for 10 orders of sashimi option (you get 30 pieces in total), the sashimi is think and generous. For sushi, I highly recommend fatty yellowtail, squid, salmon roe, and unagi. $15 omakase platter is ok if you have money to spare, I do not recommend it because its quality is not as good as ayce sushi item nor sashimi. read more

But for an all-you-can-eat, tech-filled, family-friendly place like this, it totally delivers on fun, value, and variety. This was on my list for SOOOOO LONG and I was super glad that we were finally able to go here. It is really set like you are eating in a train station with that kind of ambience. They have trains, robits and humans delivering food along with the rotating belt which has sample sushi. We went at an awkward time and hence there were not a lot of options on the belt so we had to order most of it, but towards the emd we saw many kore options starting to come out on the belt. The service was super good and food quality was amazing too! We would definitely go here again with an empty belly. read more

This was my first time here. I love sushi so this was my priority here. I came on a Sunday at 11:45am. No wait and service was great. It was $28 pp which I think was a good deal for all that I got. Because I came on the weekend I could order from the dinner menu too, which included some specialty rolls. I got the pink lady roll, which was so good. I will definitely be back here. I will have a bigger appetite. Next time I come. read more
We came here with a group of 9 adults on a Friday evening and I thought there was no way we were getting in or we would have to wait a while. However, we got seated almost immediately, but the booth for 9 including me on a chair at the end was TIGHT. I have been to sushi restaurants that had conveyers, but none with robots (the robot uprising has begun....!!!) Anyway, that was pretty cool and the staff were all nice and accomodating. The place was decorated sort of in a style of a bullet train station and there was a small electric train on top of the conveyer that also brought around sushi. You can get other items besides sushi, but if I am throwing down at an AYCE sushi place....I get sushi...and lots of it. Overall the quality was not too bad, but par for the area. There were a few rolls that I thought stood out, but don't have the names at present. I would recommend you go and experience it. read more

I had a great experience at Shinjuku Station--it exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is really fun and unique, with a video wall, sushi conveyor belt, and even a robot delivering food. One thing I really loved is that if you want to try sushi, you can just grab a piece from the conveyor belt without committing to a full roll or wasting food. It makes trying new things easy and low pressure. Service was awesome. Our waiter was funny, helpful, and made the experience even better. The food was delicious across the board--from the gyoza to the sushi and dessert. Pricing was very reasonable for how much we ordered. I'd definitely come back and recommend it if you're looking for something a little different! read more

Gave this place a try today for lunch with the family. I would say ambience for family and kids is a ten. The service was prompt and our server was great. They do use a robot to bring out the food which my kid loved and the train as well. There's also a rotating belt that brings all kinds of different sushi, fruit, some appetizers, and desserts. During lunch the price for an adult is $18.99 and my kid was $11.99, this does not include beverages as they are charged separately. We also ordered the Udon noodles and hibachi entries ( which are included). The chicken udon noodles I order did not have much meat and the hibachi was okay. I would say flavor on those was good but nothing extraordinary. The sushi we ordered was done fresh and promptly. Overall we enjoyed the experience and ambience of the place. read more
I'm giving it five stars not because they had the best sushi ever, but they had a few really really good delicious rolls that I want to go back for again and again, and they had an attentive waiter who made sure we were completely taken care of constantly, and.... They had robots. You walk in and you feel like you are in Tokyo. They even have giant screens to make you feel like you're at a bus station or on the one of the main streets walking with everyone else. It was really interesting. They have robots that drive around with people's orders with a cute kitty cat eyes and smile on the screen. They have a conveyor belt where you grab what you want as much as you want. Even delicious donut holes and several different cakes to choose from. It was $27 all you can eat. You can even order from their iPad menu on the table and get potstickers, steak with rice, noodles, etc. We went with a group and we had a blast. read more

We had a great time at Shinjuku station. There were six of us and everyone, even the fussy eaters, were happy with the selection. You can pick things off the conveyor belt or order from the online menu and a server (or a friendly robot) comes to bring your food. We are sushi snobs but the fish and the rolls were decent, with some choices better than others. We especially liked the fatty yellowtail. I liked that the rolls on the conveyor were small so we didn't have to get too filled up on them. The hibachi meals were good, other than the fried rice which was a little too bland. They have a policy about charging you for uneaten food, which makes sense and they explain to you at the beginning. I did get something that I thought was bad and I had no intention of finishing, so I gave it to the server with no issues. We got there early, just before 5p.m. on a Saturday, but by the time we left it was packed. It is a super fun atmosphere with videos playing, subway stops on the top, and especially the little trains that bring your food. A really fun night out! read more

My first time here!! The service was amazing!! Diane was our server and you never would have known it was her first day!! She was pleasant and helpful. The space is set up like a train station. Big TVs playing anime and scenes from riding the train. Very cute! The food is good. I wish there would have been a bigger variety of sushi options on the belt but what was available was good. Their options for ordering was plentiful and was delivered quickly either by train, the rolling robot or your server. I'd go again. read more

We have been waiting for the best time to try the restaurant since it us so popular. We came for a weekday lunch. We did not have to wait long and were seated at a booth. The server was nice and explained the process. The conveyor belt sends around different items, and you order other dishes from a tablet or the server. The lunch menu has fewer items, but it was still plenty of options. We tried several items on the belt and menu. The train that brought our sushi was neat, and the sushi was awesome. They had a good fish-to-rice ratio, which can be off at all-you-can-eat sushi places. I enjoyed the crab rangoon and udon noodles. We will definitely come back. read more

I've been a few times to SHINJUKU Station now and it's pretty consistent. We originally went for the unique factor of the restaurant (trains and robots? How cool!) and then for the value. My daughter loves sushi and all you can eat was worth it when she was at kid prices. I was a little shocked to find out the she was an "adult" at 11 years old. The sushi is ok - not the best I've had but also not the worst - but I'm not sure it's worth the amount anymore. Our server was very attentive and helpful! And my daughter loves the vibe and all the little claw machines and, of course, the cotton candy machine. All in all, I recommend heading there at least once for the wow factor but I'm not sure about making it a regular stop. read more
Went here last night for the first time. I've been really excited to try this place out. I was trying to let it have a little bit of time to "get settled" Every time I've driven by there's been a long line out the door of people trying to try it so I was giving it a little wait. The experience is really cool! The aesthetic inside the restaurant is set up like a Japanese train station. It definitely hit the nail on the head with all of the decor and vibe. That said, I went towards the end of the night and I kind of feel like most of the sushi that was on the conveyor belt had probably been there for a while, unfortunately. One of the rolls that I tried was a little bit mushy in all the wrong ways. I definitely think that I need to come back and try again earlier in the day. Not giving up hope on them just yet! The cooked food was pretty good! Just was not extremely impressed with the sushi rolls themselves. read more

Lunch pricing is Monday-Friday 11:30-2:30. Last time I went lunch was $17.99 where dinner was $27.99, so a good savings! There's a bit less volume and variety on the conveyor belt at lunch compared to dinner, but you can still order all you can eat…
