Both the squid and seaweed salad are excellent, not too salty or chewy. If you've never tried it I cannot recommend it enough! The Gyoza dumplings are fried but offer steamed on request. I found them to be slightly bland but my husband really enjoyed them. S U S H I - Escolar is really yummy and worth the price. Very mild and buttery and DELICIOUS. I've had most of the rolls on the menu and not a single one has disappointed. I found them all to be well balanced and not too full of rice or "guts" so it falls apart as you try to eat. Overall, I feel the quality of the seafood merits the pricing. A M B I A N C E - This is the one thing that doesn't add up for me. If I'm spending over $100 for dinner I think the dining experience should be comfortable. This place has more of a diner vibe in terms of tables and chairs. Went here for lunch today - on the late side...between 2 and 3pm...so it wasn't terribly busy. Lots of very solid "lunch special" options. I went for the "3 roll lunch"; the other 2 with me went for the "2 roll lunch" (and one person ordered 2 pieces of salmon sushi in addition to the 2 lunch special rolls). Everything was prepared very quickly and the only additional things that we ordered were 2 green teas and one miso soup. Total came to $51 for 3 people without tip. Not overly expensive at all. I ordered the habachi chicken dinner and had maybe 6 pieces of chicken on my plate and a very small amount of vegetables.. the salad that came before didn't have much lettuce.. the "kids" portion or lunch portion they let us order was only 4 small pieces of chicken and my children complained that the vegetables were spicy due to all the pepper and they were very stingy with the sauces. Ordered Sake for the first time tonight from GrubHub for my family. We had the chicken katsu, salmon avocado rolls, shrimp shumai, edamame, and fried gyozas. Our food was decent overall. The chicken katsu came in a portion size that my hungry hubby was satisfied with and my 1 year old loved the edamame. The salmon avocado roll was also decent, tasting very fresh and nicely portioned with the contents appropriate in ratio to the rice (I hate when there's too much rice in sushi) and the shumai was what I expected from most places that serve it. For the price of the whole thing on GrubHub, our order came out to a whopping $76 (20% tip for driver and $6 delivery fee) which was very pricy for similar quality menu offerings at restaurants I've had elsewhere, although I've gotten more for less. The flavor didn't merit the higher price tag. They also forgot to give us soy sauce for the sushi. I can't knock it completely, because I thought it tasted decent, but I'd definitely think twice about ordering again with this price tag to another restaurant. read more

As far as favorite cuisines go, sushi has been a clear contender for my number one for years (Mexican is a close second). We moved to North Carolina from Coastal California 2 years ago, so we are pretty picky about our raw fish, and tend to frequent the same tried-and-true sushi restaurants since moving here, so discovering a new one to add to our repertoire is always a plus! We've passed by Sake several times, and on a whim decided to drop in, and I'm so glad we did! We were immediately greeted by friendly server that offered us a corner booth and pointed out their specials board. I peeked into the menu and was so excited to see a favorite that I haven't been able to find since moving to NC; a jalapeño stuffed with spicy tuna and cream cheese dipped in tempura batter and flash fried. Dinner made. Seriously. I LOVE this tasty treat! It's moniker remains the the same on the Sake's menu, it's fittingly referred to as the Heart Attack. If you like spicy, you've got to try it, so good! We also tried the Shane roll (deep fried roll in soypaper with square-cut spicy tuna, jalapeno, cilantro, hot sauce, sesame oil), Steph's Roll (Shrimp tempura, yellow tail, jalapeno, avocado with lightly baked tuna, and escolar). For my youngest daughter I ordered and avocado roll and a California roll, she nibbled on them and then started nabbing all of the Steph's rolls (they were amazing and by far the table favorite). We also nibbled on an order of their gyoza while we waited for our sushi order and they did not disappoint. Service, sushi and atmosphere were all on point for a family friendly sushi dinner. This place is clean, sterile. The smell of chlorine and cleaning agents is thick in the air, not sure how others take it, but it's nauseating and reminds me of a hospital. The service is very friendly, five stars for that, very helpful and knowledgable. The sushi lunch special is not much of a special. Two rolls for 12 bucks consist of 6 pieces each, barely filling the void. Lunch special selection is also limited to basic rolls. As far as the taste goes, it's ok, a little stale but edible, the eel role I ordered was very skimpy but tasty. I wish to see some improvement in the size of servings. All in all its clean and cozy enough to grab lunch but the smell of cleaners is a turn off for me. read more

The building has been many things over the decades, and has been home to Sake for quite some time. Nothing fancy exterior or interior wise but they seem to be supportive of community and customers. Walls of pictures of people dining over time. A little distracting for me but for casual dining, I'm not worried about ambience over cleanliness and service. It should be about the sushi yeah? And my first time having sushi there was very pleasing. We had the White Castle roll and Kim's Roll. Starting digging and forgot to take a foodie pic :( The sushi menu is just a sampling that you see online so I've provided a to go menu pic. They also have hibachi dishes. Not pictured. Highly recommend. Very flavorful and fresh! Friendly staff. A little quiet, but it was Good Friday and almost closing for mid day break. Don't order delivery from this restaurant, I don't know how they do things in the house but if you get delivery through GrubHub or door dash or any other delivery service these people at sake rip you off for how much money you are paying, I spent almost $100 on 2 sushi rolls and two plates of hibachi thinking that I was going to be able to feed my family of three and it wasn't nearly enough food to feed me and my kid. For almost $100 you should get way more food then you do with these people. Again I don't know how they do things in house or how much they serve you while you are there but getting food from this restaurant delivered is not the way to go because they are cheapskates. read more

This was my first and last time eating at the location. We have tried and enjoyed several of High Points Hibachi restaurants. The menu items verse the portions are over priced. I regret not taking a picture but was shocked at what I received for a $20 entree. Steak and Shrimp consisted of 5 shrimp. The steak was less than 4 oz. I requested medium rare as did my girlfriend. Both plates were well done. The zucchini was Sliced so thin you could see they it. Mostly onions with a few strips of zucchini and sprigs of broccoli. The fried rice appeared to have no soy sauce. We had requested a sushi appetizer. It never arrived and when asked our server had the deer in headlights look. Then asked if we were sure if we ordered sushi to which we both responded yes you took the order. Judging by what I seen it was no loss. I can get a bigger tray for half the cost at Sams Club.
