Philadelphia roll & chicken tempura roll. Yummy!
    Danny C.

Sake to go was on point! Started with the vegetable spring roll, they were crisp and very tasty. On to the main course; Philadelphia Roll, Chicken Tempura Roll, and The Malibu Roll. My son and I split everything. I enjoyed mine with a nice mixture of soy sauce and wasabi. My oh my!! My taste buds were floating on air. I'm not saying it was the best sushi ever, but for take out eating at my dinner table it was hard to beat.

We came to Sake for dinner after wanting to try something different in the area. I'm glad we did. They have an extensive sushi menu. Literally hundreds of kinds of rolls. They also have options for hibachi, dumplings, and other Asian dishes. I opted for hibachi, and was pleased with the food and portions. I loved the tofu, which is not something many places here offer. I will definitely be back! Everyone enjoyed their food and we had a great experience

This place is fantastic! Service is wonderful, they act as if they have known you forever & you are their friend. Atmosphere is equally wonderful, it's small and quiet. We normally go early so I can't attest to noise level at a very busy time. Tonight was my fourth visit there in the last few months or so. We ordered 6 different sushi rolls, miso ramen, and lemon loaf cake for dessert. Of all my visits, I have never been disappointed. I have found nothing I didn't like. I highly recommend this place.

I literally come here 2x a week. This place has the best hibachi, hands down. Mimi is amazing and always makes you feel so welcome. The rest of the staff are always wonderful too. Get the steak hibachi!!! You won't regret it. A lot of my friends love their sushi selections too.

Way over priced... Rolls are 1/2 of the size they should be, especially for the price.... Anyone who really knows sushi would agree. My roommate was sick the next morning and swears his fish was bad. Grabbed McD's on the way home because I was still hungry even after spending $50 on sushi....

Yummy!!! This place is so good. Our waitress was really funny too which made the experience even better. Came here with some girlfriends one night and killed some sushi and edamame. I was expecting my sushi to be a lot bigger since it came with 3 meats but it definitely was the opposite haha - super good though so it didn't disappoint!! Going to have to come back and order something different on the menu.

Went here for lunch today - on the late side...between 2 and 3pm...so it wasn't terribly busy. Lots of very solid "lunch special" options. I went for the "3 roll lunch"; the other 2 with me went for the "2 roll lunch" (and one person ordered 2 pieces of salmon sushi in addition to the 2 lunch special rolls). Everything was prepared very quickly and the only additional things that we ordered were 2 green teas and one miso soup. Total came to $51 for 3 people without tip. Not overly expensive at all. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was fresh and pretty good. Not bad for sushi in a college town.

Ordered Sake for the first time tonight from GrubHub for my family. We had the chicken katsu, salmon avocado rolls, shrimp shumai, edamame, and fried gyozas. Our food was decent overall. The chicken katsu came in a portion size that my hungry hubby was satisfied with and my 1 year old loved the edamame. The salmon avocado roll was also decent, tasting very fresh and nicely portioned with the contents appropriate in ratio to the rice (I hate when there's too much rice in sushi) and the shumai was what I expected from most places that serve it. For the price of the whole thing on GrubHub, our order came out to a whopping $76 (20% tip for driver and $6 delivery fee) which was very pricy for similar quality menu offerings at restaurants I've had elsewhere, although I've gotten more for less. The flavor didn't merit the higher price tag. They also forgot to give us soy sauce for the sushi. I can't knock it completely, because I thought it tasted decent, but I'd definitely think twice about ordering again with this price tag to another restaurant.

Since then, the half price sushi hours are no longer in effect, replaced with more standardized lunch specials and combinations. Three basic rolls for x, two specialty rolls for x, etc... as well as specials on hot food and the like. Due to this, I just haven't found myself there very often, and until my experience last week it had probably been two or three years honestly. We came during lunch hours on a Saturday. The lunch specials are good every day, not just weekdays, so that is a good thing. Ordering was simple enough, still done at the counter, given a number, go have a seat. Drinks still self-serve, no wait staff or the like which is totally fine. We ordered a general tso's chicken combination with fried rice and an egg roll, a basic two roll combination of sweet potato tempura and Ro Roll, and a two speciality roll combination that I honestly cannot remember the specific names of. There were also crab rangoons. My first area of dismay, even though we were eating there, everything came in to-go containers creating a ton of trash and waste. Plastic utensils, cups, everything. This was not the case in the past. I guess they've done the financial math that it's cheaper than dishwashing, but it's terrible for our environment. It would have been better if things even came combined on paper plates than this. As to the food, we were disappointed. Nothing other than the sushi and maybe soup appears to be made there, definitely true for all fried things. Rangoons came with plain duck sauce. Egg rolls the size of your index finger. Sushi wise, the sweet potato tempura roll was the best of the bunch. The fish tasted fine, nothing off putting there, but also nothing pleasant. The flavor combos just didn't make me want to eat more... and they were all crammed into to-go sushi trays with dry horseradish ("wasabi") It is not common for me to leave sushi pieces for the trash, but I did this time. Ultimately, the things that used to draw me here just didn't seem to be in place. But the price isn't bad at all. If you are more concerned with value, and don't mind some of the things I listed above, this place could work for you.

I just wasn't expecting this level of authenticity in High Point. My daughter and I stopped in on Saturday, May 23, and spent $61.39 on dinner and drinks. I almost skipped it entirely because raw fish just is not my thing. Smoked salmon, yes. Raw seafood, usually not happening. Then I noticed they had cooked poke bowls and customizable options, so we gave it a shot. The food hall was not busy when we visited, so service moved quickly. After ordering, they handed us a buzzer and our food came out fast. We ended up getting everything to go. I ordered the large Strawberry Blossom tea refresher. It had a really good fruity flavor, although it started out a little sweeter than I like. I added some extra ice and that fixed it immediately. My daughter got the Peach Paradise tea refresher, and hers was excellent from the first sip. Both drinks were large and definitely worth the price. We shared the Firecracker Roll, and they had no problem adjusting the spice level for us. Normally it comes with spicy tuna and spicy sauces, but they toned it down without making a big deal about it. The roll came with ten pieces, topped with fresh tuna instead of the spicy tuna, crunchy bits, scallions, and sauce. Plenty for two people to split, and we still brought a couple pieces home. It was delicious! For my meal, I ordered the Chicken Poke Bowl from the cooked menu section. I am glad I spotted that menu because it completely changed my mind about eating there. Every bite was fresh and flavorful. The vegetables were crisp, the rice was cooked right, and the sauces pulled everything together without making the bowl heavy. I upgraded to the fried chicken for an extra dollar. The breading did not stay on perfectly, but that was a small issue compared to how good the bowl tasted overall. Even the bites without chicken were good enough to stand on their own. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned. My daughter built her own poke bowl, which honestly looked like the fun option. You go down the line choosing your base, proteins, mix-ins, sauces, toppings, and crunchy add-ons. There were a lot of choices, but it still felt simple and easy to follow. Everything looked fresh, colorful, and made to order. The restaurant itself was clean, modern, and organized. The staff stayed friendly, and the whole place had a relaxed vibe. It was a bit pricey, but I think worth it. This place definitely earned a return visit from me, especially considering I almost walked past it because of the raw fish focus. Must order: Firecracker Roll and the Chicken Poke Bowl & Peach Paradise bubble tea Tip: If raw seafood is not your thing, check the cooked menu before you decide. There are plenty of good options.

I happened to have reason to be in the shopping center one fateful day, and was hungry to boot. So I decided, I should stop in, if for nothing else, just to say I put it through it's paces. Inside, well, I kind of found what I expected. A well-worn restaurant, but importantly, very clean. Much of the decor has faded over time, but I don't see much reason to improve it. Looking into the kitchen, and just observing interactions, I would wager the same husband and wife combination have owned it the entire time. Though everything is dated, I do love that you can fully see the entire kitchen and sushi bar. I went for lunch, but was surprised there was not a lunch special menu of any kind. Standard in this area, you would usually find that. Same menu all day here. I ordered chicken yakisoba and a yellowfin scallion maki roll. Service was excellent, attentive but not overly so. You can tell the experience, as the same lady was working the whole place (about 8 tables occupied). My sushi roll came out first, no complaints. Fresh yellowfin tuna, the inclusion of scallions was a nice touch both for taste and texture. Appropriate amount of rice. This was great, maybe next time I will just go for sushi. My chicken yakisoba was a good portion, but I found it a bit bland generally. I asked for some ginger sauce to dip it in, and that helped a lot, but on its own I would have liked more flavor kick. The chicken however was cooked well, not dry at all. Overall, this place is not very close to me, but if in the area I would come again. I was just glad to have finally set foot in there after all this time, and find a family run place sticking to what they do best.

There was also a birthday party while we were there, and let me tell you, the entire restaurant... lights, music, and all... shifts into party mode when it's time to sing that person a song. Pretty impressive. Anyway, back to the food. We did enjoy the corn ribs, but they were pretty messy and difficult to eat. I have seen some examples at other places where the kernels were easier to get at, or you could even eat the husk part because it was so thin. Also, we would have liked a little more, the ribs did not even really add up to a full large ear of corn. The fajitas for two were really good and a huge portion. Very tender meat and veggies. We would have liked to see more pineapple. The chunks were small and a little sparse on the skillet, so in the end, we didn't get much of that tropical flavor. After placing a call to Little Tokyo to confirm they too weren't filled to capacity, we headed there for our sushi fix, and it made me regret not having visited sooner. Little Tokyo boasts a pleasant, relaxing ambiance that made it a welcome refuge from the night's rather intense rain. The menu here is Japanese (sushi, sashimi, hibachi, etc.) albeit with some Korean and Chinese influences. The selection of sushi rolls is extensive, and quite a few of them sounded intriguing. Admittedly, the Italian (a California roll topped with white fish, tomato sauce, and cheese) was a bridge too far even for me. My wife and I came hungry and went with two apps (steamed dumplings and vegetable gyoza), four rolls, and two misos. The food was, across the board, quite good. Whereas some miso can blast you with salt, Little Tokyo's broth benefitted from an underlying richness. Our sushi was beautifully plated and tasted fresh. Of the rolls we tried, the Bulgoki (beef, crab, cucumber, and eel sauce) was my favorite. Prices here are reasonable for the quality of the food (rolls in the low-mid teens, most apps under $10), and severs are polite. The kitchen isn't lightning fast, but we didn't find the wait unreasonable. Based on ratings, I expected "good," and based on hunger levels and a desire to be out of the rain, I would have settled for "OK." Little Tokyo, however, ended up being surprisingly great.
