Winter evening dinner with good overall service. One waitress demonstrated strong knowledge of the menu; however, my assigned server did not, which resulted in me choosing a different soup than intended. For my entrée, I ordered the duck with curry and a side of rice. The dish itself was excellent; the only drawback was the portion size, not enough curry sauce provided to properly enjoy the rice.
Went back to Basil Thai for a work lunch, this time a little later in the day around 2 PM. The place was quiet and almost empty, which made for a peaceful dining experience. Service was incredibly fast, and the food was just as reliable as ever. I had the chicken Pad Thai, ordered medium hot, though in hindsight I could've gone for Thai hot--it still had a bit of sweetness to it that I'd love to balance out with more heat. Their egg roll and soup were as refreshing as always--light, flavorful, and a great way to start the meal. The location is super convenient, with ample parking available, which is always a plus during busy workdays. The restaurant itself is clean, calm, and has a welcoming interior that makes it easy to relax and take a breather in the middle of a hectic schedule. The kind, attentive service adds to the experience, making Basil Thai one of my go-to lunch spots.
We showed up at 220 on a Saturday and didn't realize until we were leaving that they close at 3 on Saturday. I feel bad for not checking the hours first but our food and service were spectacular. Our orders came with some soup and a vegetable spring roll. I'm not wild about spring rolls in general but these were well cooked, super crispy. The soup was a little bit too spicy for me but my husband loved it. The crab Rangoon appetizer was the absolute best! I could have eaten 3 orders! They were stuffed full and so perfectly fried. I would recommend! My husband got the basil fried rice and really liked it. I also liked my meal. I got the pad see ew with beef.
Celebrated my wife's birthday last week by checking o it a "new to us" Thai spot. We are by this spot often for Monday run club, but never get the chance to try it, since they aren't open on Mondays. So my wife requested we go on a Sunday evening and give it a try. We were greeted and quickly seated as soon as we walked in. The menu was large and very extensive, containing a lot of sushi, hibachi and Thai options. To start we got an order of calamari, which surprised us when it came out as large chunks, rather than the more standard rings. They were tasty though and came with a spicy Mayo and a sweet and sour sauce for dipping, both of which were great with the calamari. For my entree I got my go to, yellow chicken curry, which was great, and large portions. I ended up having a good bit left, and brought home, cooked up more rice and had a lunch for the next day. Overall, we enjoyed it. The service was good, food came out quickly and was full of flavor, and price was a little high, but in line with other Thai in the area. The restaurant is very bright and full of natural light. Definitely worth checking out, just not on Mondays
High Point is home to so many Thai restaurants that even a Thai/sushi combo isn't unique here. Amid such competition, it is hard to stand out though The Basil Leaf certainly gives it a good try. Though not a large space, The Basil Leaf doesn't lack for seating. The ambiance aims for classy without being stuffy and largely succeeds. Service was attentive throughout our meal. The Basil Leaf's menu features a variety of Japanese (appetizers, sushi, and teriyaki/hibachi entrees) and Thai (appetizers, soups, salads, curries, noodles, and more) offerings. There were no unexpected finds, but if you know the cuisine well enough to know what you want, you'll likely find it here. I had a Pad Thai craving and, my wife and I ended up going with a chicken Pad Thai, a beef pineapple fried rice, and a Crab Rangoon starter. The food was tasty (good amount of sauce on the noodles and sweetness balanced with curry notes in the fried rice), and The Basil Leaf will match your desired spice level. While the plating aims for aesthetic sophistication (i.e. carrots cut into a flower shape), serving the rice in a rectangular block was an odd touch. Both entrees were generously portioned. At $15 and $17, neither broke the bank though the prices are a bit higher than the nearest competitor. All told, The Basil Leaf isn't likely to become my favorite Thai eatery, but it is one that I would feel no qualms about coming back to.
A gem in High Point! I tried the Eggplant Stir Fry, and it was delicious! The eggplant was perfectly cooked--tender with just the right amount of bite--and was coated in a savory sauce that had a slight sweetness to it. It was loaded with fresh veggies that added a nice crunch, and it paired beautifully with the fluffy jasmine rice. I also ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, which did not disappoint. The noodles were cooked just right, and the flavors were well-balanced, with a hint of tanginess from the tamarind and a subtle nuttiness from the crushed peanuts on top. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the dish was garnished with fresh green onions and a slice of lime that brightened the whole plate. Whether you're craving Thai or sushi, The Basil Leaf has something to satisfy everyone. This place has definitely earned a spot in my favorites, and I can't wait to come back and try more dishes!
Sushi is amazing and a great portion. Atmosphere is clean and bright. Service is quick and drink was always filled.
Great sushi and Thai spot in High Point! It gets bonus points for being in the same shopping center as Sweet Dough and Duck Donuts too. The food comes out fast and the servers are very friendly. We ordered hibachi and several sushi rolls along with a couple of classic Thai dishes (Pad Thai and Sweet & Sour Crunchy Chicken). Everything was hot and fresh and very flavorful. Definitely will be coming back soon!
Whenever I'm near Greensboro and am in the mood for sushi or Thai, I will make a stop at The Basil Leaf. The service is always great and, when the weather is nice you can sit outside. The indoor seating is nice as well, but I personally love sitting outside to enjoy a meal. Speaking of the meal, yes please! The pad Thai is the BOMB!! The curry - all of them - are amazing!! The sushi is always CHEF KISS good!! If you work in the area, it is a perfect spot to pick up lunch or meet coworkers. The service is fast but the food is still quality. If you're out with friends looking to sit and chat for a longer period, they won't rush you. You are welcome to come in in a rush or come in to chill - either way, it's great! Ooo it's also a pretty solid date night spot - it's served as a first date spot for me. Granted, the food was WAY better than the date, but I still walked away full and happy!
Basil Leaf is one of my fav Thai spots in the High Point area and I can't believe it took time this long to try their sushi!! Typically I grab the orange chicken, fried rice, or curry dishes from here but I made in the mood for some sushi. I got the sunset roll which consisted of shrimp tempura, avocado, and cream cheese. As a new sushi lover, I still get nervous trying new rolls but this one was amazing. The 8-piece roll was more than enough and was a decent price so I was overall very satisfied. Our server, Danielle, was friendly and helped with sharing some of her menu favorites. The space is overall nice with big windows and lots of tables. I recommend this spot if you're in the area and looking for some good Asian fusion and Thai food!
I have tried several different rolls and every single one has been delicious. This is a must try for sushi lovers! This visit we ordered the Ginger Chicken, Drunken Noodles with Chicken and The Hot Mango Roll. The restaurant is quaint and clean. The servers are friendly and welcoming. I really like Basil Leaf, it's different and special.
Always fresh food and excellent service when I come to this location. We always stuff ourselves and it was nice to receive a complimentary appetizer before our meal. Will always return back for some bangin sushi
Cute little Thai restaurant- we have been here many times. Service is good. All of the food was great, but one meal came out quite a bit later than the others. No cold sake on this visit- they were completely out. Sad face.

My family stopped in for dinner and we all enjoyed our meals. We started with the calamari and the crab Rangoons. The calamari were very large in comparison to others I've had. They had a nice batter and I really liked the sauces that came with them. However, the calamari was a bit tougher and chewy than I like. The crab Rangoons were amazing though. They had that nice crisp to them and were super cheesy but still had the nice balance of the imitation crab. The inside had a nice flavor and seasoning to it as well. For my entree, I ordered the Pad Mamaung (Cashew Nut) with chicken. I enjoyed the flavor but wish there was a bit more. The sauce was really runny and I think if it was thickened up it would have had a stronger flavor. I also ordered it "a little spicy" and there was no spice. I never know about spice levels because they're subjective. I would get the medium spice next time. I tried the red curry at a hot spice level and it was a tad bit too hot for me. I would say I have a moderate spice tolerance and like a spicy flavor but don't want it to overpower the food. The vegetables in the cashew dish were very good and I loved the balance of flavors. I would definitely order this dish again! I also taste tested the basil fried rice with shrimp and really enjoyed it! read more
I came here for my birthday lunch celebration with a friend. I love sparkling sake so I was happy to see 4 options to choose from; this is rare since most Asian fusion restaurants tend to only offer one or two. I liked the ambience of the restaurant and our server was pleasant. The orange dragon roll with mango was sublime and I will definitely return just for that. On the downside, I found the other things I ordered somewhat inedible. The edamame wasn't steamed enough so it was incredibly difficult to pop them out of their pods to eat. I got tired of trying. My friend ordered the vegetable tempura app and she offered me a sweet potato since that is my favorite. It hadn't cooked all the way through in the center so again difficult to eat. The other roll I ordered had eel in it. Now I have eaten quite a lot eel before but I never had tasted eel so chewy. The mouth feel was so gross that I ended up spitting it out. I think this place has a lot of good qualities so I am willing to give them another shot but I would like to remind their chefs to slow down to ensure that the food is cooked more properly so it would be more enjoyable to its patrons. read more

The Basil Leaf is a good go to spot for sushi in High Point. Their menu has quite a few options from classic Thai dishes, lots of raw and cooked sushi options, and those hibachi dishes that are really popular in the south. I have tried a few of their dishes but prefer their sushi! It's usually super fresh and their special rolls are really well done. All entrees come with their appetizer which includes one of their soups and a mini spring roll! During the winter, try their yummy yellow curry dish for a warm and cozy treat! read more
All I can say is WOW!!! Basil Leaf Sushi and Thai has, by far and away, the best asian food we've tasted since we moved to North Carolina four years ago. This is a smaller restaurant in High Point. We came here for our anniversary after seeing a post on Facebook and checking it out on Yelp. We got there a little before the normal dinner hour (5:45 PM) and the place was packed. We were shown to the only open table and brought water quickly. We looked through the rather extensive menu. They have a variety asian food styles: Thai, Japanese and Sushi. There is a lot of variety. We had the Sa Tay Kay appetizer. The chicken was grilled to perfection ... not underdone, very tender and not overdone either. The sauces were great. My wife had the Teriyaki chicken. She raved about it. I had the Peanut chicken special. It was outstanding. Service was very good. Several servers checked on us and they seemed to have a system for getting food to diners as soon as it was done in the kitchen, and they worked as a team. Basil Leaf Sushi and Thai is a 30 minute drive from our house. We will definitely be back. read more
When we visited, the place was popping! The good: Crab Rangoon was very good. This one hit differently. Beer prices were reasonable. All dishes came out plated and looked upscale. The bad: Drunken noodles were...eh. OK. Not bad, but not amazing. Maybe because they were too drunk (it was bathing in the sauce) The only issue was that when patrons entered, they stood there aimlessly (ourselves included) looking around awkwardly to be seated. Although staff passed directly in FRONT of everyone that entered and waited, they never acknowledged anyone until they were seated. read more
It was a first time for four of us, but felt adventurous to try a new Asian restaurant. The atmosphere is nice, cozy place and nicely decorated. They have patio seating, and it looked quite inviting this evening. We ordered pad Thai, red curry, steak hibachi, shrimp hibachi, sweet and sour chicken. The server was nice and professional. I liked the presentation of the dishes w all of the fresh vegetables and ingredients. At our table, they rated the dishes and overall we gave it a 3.5 as a group. Taking into consideration everything else including how clean it is and service, I think a 4 star is fair enough. read more

Very good, but not my favorite Thai food in this area, which has a surprisingly large variety of restaurants to choose from for this particular cuisine. The Basil Leaf I would say has the nicest atmosphere for a date night, as it occupies the corner of a nearly brand new shopping center and is very modern on the inside compared to some of the other area options. In our case, we got the meal to go. When it got home, the hot dishes were still piping hot and the cold dishes were nice and cool, all good there. I tend to gravitate toward the same dishes for testing a new thai place, drunken noodles and their Som Tum or Papaya salad. In this case I got both. The papaya salad was excellent. Not best around, but very good. I was quite happy with it. The drunken noodles, while good enough, I considered to be a little bland. The sauce they're supposed to be "drunk" in was not very flavorful. My wife was very happy with her dishes, an order of pad thai and a sweet potato sushi roll. Overall, I'd come back here to dine in and maybe try a curry and get another round of papaya salad. That said, there is a lot of excellent thai on 68 along this stretch, and you cannot go wrong eating at any of them! read more
I always enjoy visiting The Basil Leaf when I'm visiting Greensboro. Every time that I attempt to venture out and try a different thai spot, I'm always led back to The Basil Leaf. The staff is very friendly and efficient. There is one lady in particular who is always upbeat when greeting and serving guests. The food is fresh and very good portion size for dinner. I have not tried any of their wines or other alcoholic beverages so I cannot speak on that part of the menu, but the main Thai entrees that they do offer is flavorful. My go to is usually basil friend rice -- I like mine extra spicy so be sure to mention that when ordering or it will not be the typical "thai" spicy. The dishes were also plated nicely. The only recommendation that I have is for the staff to acknowledge people more efficiently once they enter into the restaurant. One would not know whether to seat themselves or to wait to be assisted. read more
Basil Leaf has really good sushi Basil Leaf is a nice restaurant serving Asian food and sushi. The atmosphere is casual but nice on the inside. The service was good. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The weather was nice, so we chose to sit outside. We ordered sushi and some basil fried rice. All the food was good, and the wasabi was spicy - that's a good thing! I highly recommend Basil Leaf. I give it a 9/10 rating. read more

First time to this restaurant. Without reservations or being on a Friday night, we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. For appetizers, we had springs rolls (4 rolls) and sashimi sampler, the sashimi are big cuts. Like the freshness and big portions of variety of fish) For our meal, we had a vegetarian Pad thai, very tasty and flavorful. Things I didn't like about it, the noodles are cut into small pieces and overcook, too soft that even I used fork, still hard to pick up the noodles and the veggies tasted like those frozen veggies. We also had the Duck curry, it has a good flavor and heat on it which I enjoy (i like spicy food). The veggies are fresh, and still crunchy! The duck is over cook, the meat is a little hard and dry.b read more
It was a nice little Thai/sushi place. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our table. The servings were large and I felt I was getting good patrons for the price. I had sushi and the cuts of fish were one of the largest in the GSO area. Well done! My wife had the pad Thai and said it was heavier on the curry than what she is used to in pad Thai. The hot sake was filled to the brim and was a little sweeter than others in the area. I really liked it! read more
After riding past this location several stones I decided it was time I stop and try it out. I got there a little after two and the gentleman who greeted me at the door indicated that they would be closing soon for the end of lunch and wanted to make me aware. I kinda knew what I would want so I asked if it was ok to still be seated and place my order. I got Crab Wontons, Spicy Crab rolls, a California roll and Spicy Shrimp Tempura roll. Everything was fresh and so yummy! The customer service was superb! I can't wait to go back and try other menu options. For those wondering about how they are handling things with Covid: they are spacing people who decide to dine inside. Masks are required no questions asked. The staff all wear gloves and masks and they have a QR code for those that don't want to touch a menu. They also offer hand sanitizer in several locations from the time you enter, and throughout the establishment. read more

My husband talked me into trying somewhere new to us, but I am typically skeptical of Thai food. I was NOT disappointed at Basil Leaf Sushi & Thai! I ordered the chicken pad Thai (a good standard for trying a new restaurant) and was delighted at the flavors, textures, and the portion size. We took our food to go, including a sweet potato tempura roll (yeeeeessss), papaya salad, and drunken noodles. My husband DEVOURED the papaya salad and said it was the best he's had. This may be my new go-to Thai restaurant. We were pleased with the COVID-19 precautions taken, the quality and quantity of the food, and the fair pricing. read more
I loved how modernized the restaurant was. Hunny and I decided to sit outside since the weather was beautiful. The waitresses were very attentive and helpful. The food was mediocre for my taste. Not as authentic as he hyped it to be. I had a feeling once the soup and eggroll came out =| but I still cleaned up the plate. read more
