We have been using this storage center location for more than 8 yrs now and I'm writing to share a very disappointing experience my husband had during his recent visit. An employee named Paola spoke to my husband in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. Her tone and attitude were completely unacceptable and left feeling disrespected. Every customer deserves to be treated with basic courtesy, and this interaction fell far below that standard. I'm posting this here because I believe management should be aware of Paola's behavior and take appropriate steps to ensure this does not happen to anyone else. Just got a look at their new logo. It is clever to use a storage box as the central image. However, like many logos created these days, the logo looks like a sphincter. Look at sideways, too. Given the nature and scope of the dishonesty, cheating, deceit, harassment and insulting behavior by the facility manager, Benson Williams II, staff and their counsel, the sphincter is an appropriate logo and service mark for US Storage Centers. Another logo that they might consider is the screw - because that is what they do to customers who fight to get restitution after facility staff break-in and steal unit contents. And, no, they do not call after they break in and steal your stuff. Instead, they create fictitious investigations where the prime suspect, the facility manager, is part of the in-house investigation team. Part of the theft method is to get you to agree to two 10x10 units side by side. The manager then writes up the contract and, instead of giving you two contracts, he gives you one contract and leaves one unit # off the contract. That unit is referred to as a 200 square foot unit. Making it even more devilish is that the manager sells lock and key sets that are compromised; they are supposed to have 3 keys but Benson Williams II hands you a kit with just 2 keys; he retains the third key. Benson then waits to use the third key on the unsuspecting customer's lock on the unit door. Result is this: MASSIVE THEFT. Eventually, USSC claims there was no theft and that the customer owned nothing and stored nothing in the unit. Conveniently for USSC and Benson Williams II, they have a contract that does not list the unit number correlated with the customer's name. The customer and unit are off-grid. By the way, the units are advertised as individually alarmed but the system didn't work when tested post-theft. The unit doors do have motion detectors but when you are off-grid, guess what? Doors show no motion in unit door motion reports. HPD did next to nothing; this is how the cops roll. They give USSC a pass. Why? read more

I am very impressed having just moved in to US storage. First of all this facility is in an area that is absolutely perfect for a storage facility - in a kinda industrial / business area on the cusp of Manhattan Beach and Hawthorn - a place that is nice but doesn't feel like rent is at a super high premium. They have 3 or 4 buildings on the premises and I have never seen it crowded like many other storage places I've used in the past (having to fight for the limited number of carts other places typically have). They have a plentiful supply of medium & large sized carts to expedite moving stuff. I have never yet had a problem parking close to the elevator (in car or truck) in my building which is also super helpful. Another reason I left Public Storage is that I originally started with a good rate, then after 5 months they increased my rent 40% now that I was moved in & most people would rather just pay that than go through all the trouble of moving again so soon. I know that rents get raised but I was assured that I would not be gouged that way here - so I'm looking forward to the "standard" 5-10% increases here but, "to be continued"... Another 5-star element is that they actually have a truck that you can use, free of charge to move in (but you have to fill it back up with gas) which you get for 3-4 hours I believe, but you have to reserve it. I also have to give a special mention to Anna in the office who is awesome and has really gone above & beyond to provide wonderful service - unlike my last experience at Public Storage where I felt like another faceless customer to give them money who they couldn't have cared less about. I really feel that she genuinely cares about me and shows that by going above & beyond providing info about insurance, locks, etc. (things I didn't think to ask about) I was also scheduled to move in on a day and then saw that it was supposed to rain heavily that day so she let me move in a day early at the last minute. I also really appreciate being able to be in my unit until 9:00 pm when all the other storage companies kick you out by 6:00 pm and are more concerned about themselves than what works for their customers who typically work till 6:00 and can't easily make it in till later. Another really nice 5-star touch that I haven't seen anywhere in my 30+ years of using storage facilities and really appreciate is the music that plays in the storage building - This is a really nice touch!! On a side note, you need a cylindrical lock to rent here ($18 purchased here and is about the same price on Amazon) Although I just moved in, they are off to a glowing start compared to all the experience I've had with storage places over the years and I'm looking forward to a long & mutually beneficial relationship here at US storage! read more

I have rented a unit at this location but have met several customers that had and were forced out given a change in the monthly rental rate. They are know for taking the next months rent and then giving you a notice to vacate on the first days of that new month. It seems they have a plan that all the locations work from and it is best to avoid renting any storage facility from this group. read more

This place has been burglarized a number of times and the management hides this info, I've found out a number of times from different tenants. The police department confirmed these multiple burglaries. No changes have been made to upgrade security. Water leaked on my stored good and rats pooped and peed and ruined my things. When I asked management about this they refused to remedy or take any responsibility for the situation -- to include admitting to and fixing the problem, or covering any of my lost goods. Additionally rent has increased over 100% in approximately 3 years...they lock you in at a lower price and inch up the rent every few months. Staff is rude, defensive, and unhelpful. I was with US storage for over 7 years and the last 3 three were horrible I was ripped off lost over $ 2000 worth of music equipment and the new manager was unhelpful and very disconcerned about it . My rent was constantly raised as I kept moving to a smaller unit to save money . In the end I paid more for a smaller unit than I had with the larger unit. After having my stuff taken I was told I needed renters insurance. So there must have been property stolen more often than not . I will never use US Storage again and I would tell everyone the same . Overpriced horrible customer service and shallow personel . When the FBI shows up to your storage facility maybe consider finding a new place to store your stuff. read more

This place is 5 out of 5 stars for a reason!! Amazing customer service and a great professional property manager that was extremely helpful. The employee who helped, Ana was amazing and extremely helpful. We arrived to rent the unit 15 minutes before closing and they where extremely friendly and happy to help us. We got here so late because we had a terrible experience at EZ storage where we first went and they told us that the computers where down and they couldn't help us because they didn't expect them to go up. Desperate to find a place to unload the uhaul we called around and found this place, US storage. The lady at the call center was very friendly and helpful and found us a facility near by, called them and spoke to Ana, to make sure that they would stay open until we got there and gave us a great deal on the first 2 months. It was night and day how much better their customer service was compared to EZ storage. When we got there we were immediately greeted by the property manager, Benson. He took great care of us and the storage unit was so much nicer than the one st the other place. It had a much bigger door and it was on the first floo(the other place had a very small door and on the 2nd floor. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Superb experience all around. read more

The service from Anna was great went above and beyond, however her manager Benson not so much. The reason for the one-star rating is I was in a unit and the rent went to high for that size, so I requested to move to a cheaper unit which was bigger. One the day of the move I noticed my items where wet no liquid was in my unit just fabric, boxes and bins, why was everything wet? I called the manager over he looks at my unit and says oh I don't know maybe something in your unit spilled when he was informed no its no liquid, I was told maybe it was the rain from a week prior but to go ahead file an insurance claim and donate the fabric will have no issues. Oh, but it was issues the claim was denied because the insurance company they carry said we don't cover moldy items but what was moldy? Went back and forth for weeks and nothing got resolved at that point I didn't trust my items being at this location because now I feel like I'm paying you to damage my items. As I am moving out of the second unit I hear the sounds of water on the second floor I look up and what do you know its the same water marks that was on my fabric downstairs on the ceiling of the location but they say its no water leaks and that the cement that was used sweats so its nothing they can do. So I say to they "Extra Space Storage" would never and put my things back to the bright green and white logo. In all the district manager was also no help as she said she is siding with her employee! read more

Extremely upsetting ending with US Storage. So their facility is nice - that has not changed. But they are thieves and as soon as they strong arm you into writing them reviews, their customer service is a nightmare. I moved my items out on the 7th, and they will not prorate the monthly amount for me. They told me the 5th is the limit and that I have to pay for the entire month- that was never explained to me. Additionally, they are extremely rude once they have their hands on your cash. There are many nice storage facilities out there. Avoid this one due to how they treat their clients. read more

NIGHTMARE. AWFUL. As you can see from prior reviews, this place was a nightmare. Yes, my unit was broken into by a crafty crook who somehow got on the premises and got off premises with about 200 banker boxes of books and other valuables. No one used a crow-bar; the lock and door were not damaged. Nor was a floor, ceiling or side wall compromised. Someone had a key. The cop never secured the crime scene and instead suggested that the crime victim has mental issues - all within an hour of the cop on scene. The management staff prepared an in-house report that didn't even list the correct unit # that was the scene of the theft. Cops quit the investigation within 24 hours of arriving on scene on August 6, 2018. Cops never secured videotape. Cops never secured alarm and unit door activity. Management claimed to police that the unit had never been rented and had been vacant for 9 years. Cops, after city council pressure, reopened the case, in late 2019. Cops closed the case in August 2020 because - they claim - the detective received a 'vintage Playboy' in the mail at HPD and felt 'uncomfortable'. The magazine was supposedly sent by a 'John Smith' who, the cops claimed was the victim - yours truly. Hawthorne has an ordinance that has outlawed new self-storage for many years. Why? Because self-storage joints do not generate tax revenue on receipts. SO, you can see why the HPD isn't too keen on helping out when there is trouble at a place like this. There is no revenue for the city so there is no revenue for the HPD. What happens in a storage joint stays in a storage joint is the basic message. And of course, US Storage isn't too keen on helping a victim in any way, shape or form. Indeed, they are hostile and litigate against crime victims who demand justice. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. IT IS TOXIC. IT IS DANGEROUS TO YOUR WEALTH AND YOUR HEALTH. read more

I recently moved and discovered that I had less storage space in my new garage. So, I visited this location to see if they had a unit for me. The staff was amazing. Kyle and Benson were very polite and professional, listened to my needs, and found the perfect size unit to fit my storage needs. Kyle gave me a tour and showed me my unit; then took me back to show me how to use the lock. Benson helped me out to the car with my packing supplies. The whole thing took less than 25 minutes. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I went back that evening and getting in and out of the gate was easy, with the provided code. I highly recommend this location. read more
