Unfortunately I made a payment on a friend's account 6 mos ago. I stated it was a one-time thing & I didn't want my card kept on file. Well, you guessed it - they recently charged my card close to $900 - 6 months after the one-time payment. The clincher?! It's been close to a week & my CC balance was charged interest on the amount. They assured me it would be refunded in 3 working days - it wasn't so I made a claim with my CC company. They called almost a week later & said there was a mistake on refund processing & they would refund my money 3 days from today & that it wasn't their fault & saw no reason to pay the interest fee. Reasonable price compared to nearby storage places. Adam is very helpful with renting process and move-in. Units are easy to access unless someone is blocking the aisle that yours is located on. Hopefully you won't need anything if Adam isn't around, because the manager James is rude and obnoxious. If he answers the phone at all during business hours, he'll rudely respond that he's on the other line. Regardless of giving proper notification of when you're vacating the unit, James will not pro-rate rent or refund, even if only staying one day or a couple days past the first of the month. James is happy to remind you that the policy "is in your contract" and "not his choice" (Hint: it actually is his choice, he just enjoys taking people's money for doing nothing) read more

This is a long-overdue review. Stormor Storage is a straight-forward storage; it's nothing fancy like other storages, but it gets the job done and the units are fairly-priced for the area (Torrance). If you're wanting units with built-in A/C, heater, room temp, big parking space, 24/7 service, etc...then this isn't the storage for you. This is a storage property simply to store things. Adam (manager) and Lewis are great. Adam and Lewis always make you feel welcome and are approachable whenever you need any assistance. Looking upon older reviews (approx 3 years and older) from customers, a few had mentioned being locked out (that's because some of them aren't aware of when the property actually closes; so they can't really blame the storage or manager for that). Also, I believe Adam wasn't the manager at the time, so other customers' experiences from 3 years ago should not reflect the customer service and/or property management currently. I think I was locked out once (my mistake not being aware of the time as entering/exiting access closes after 6pm), but I was able to get in contact with Adam and he was able to open the gate. When I first inquired about a storage unit, Adam gave me a good discount for my first few months to help me out, so I really appreciated him wanting me to save some money. Adam and Lewis are both accommodating and flexible; they are also prompt in answering and/or returning phone calls. Whenever I needed help with gate access, I would just call the office and Adam or Lewis would answer; they're usually good at answering calls, but if they can't answer, they would return my call within the same day. As a good courtesy, I also would receive my invoice via email every month for when payment is due, and if my payment doesn't go through, they have a grace period and Adam or Lewis would reach out to me after a few days to let me know that my payment didn't go through. I have yet to be charged a late fee because they always give me a notice after my grace period to avoid any late fees. In terms of the property upkeeping, I usually see Adam or Lewis sweeping the area, so they keep the property clean and tidy. The property is secure. Manager lives onsite and there are multiple surveillance cameras around the property. They also go around the property several times a day to ensure everything is ok. My unit was clean and remains clean. Not sure if all units have this, but my unit has a light, which is nice if it gets too dark in the unit. Overall - this is great storage property and managed by a great manager and staff; I have no complaints. read more

Garbage facility with even worse staff. This place is owned and operated by a husband and wife team whose negligence is so astounding it boggles the mind. They knowingly put a lock on my storage unit even though it was paid in full because they screwed up their new system. They locked me out of the storage facility on multiple occasions, and they were at fault admitting that they shouldn't have done that. Then, they decide to bill me for the same month twice. When I call in, they refuse to take my calls, refuse to call me back, and when I finally do get them on the phone, they have nothing but excuses about how it's not their fault. You need to go literally anywhere else. Stor-Mor is the wrong place for you. read more

I rented a storage here back in 2012 and my mom rented one as we'll. we both paid $1 for the first month and the lowest rates in the area for the following months. My mom moved out of state and missed to make payments on time, I got her notices, and when I called to remedy the situation the staff, Jesse in particular, we're always respectful and nice about it. I never got threats of selling my mom's stuff or anything. They actually offered me a bigger storage unit at a great rate, lower than what we were paying for the two storages combined, where I was able to put both storages and have extra room for more stuff. In a particular note, yes they are strict about their hours, one time I did got locked in, I called Jesse and he let me out... I wouldn't do this if I was you I would be out on time... I was lucky he was still at the office, if not I would probably had jumped the fence lol... I never notice people living there, I notice a few business owners storage their goods there and spend lots of time arranging stuff around, everyone will say hi. I had an online business and used the facilities to storage my stuff, nothing was ever lost, stolen or damaged. Once I notice a line of ants and they took care of the issue immediately. I liked that they have outlets by the units entrance, so I could keep my phone charging or an extra light if it was late and dark, and also that the storages are all ground level. Easy in easy out. If I would need a storage again, I will definitely go there. I never had an issue with the staff or the facilities. Great place, nice people :) read more

I used Stor Mor twice - for 6 months in 2010 (paid for 3 months and got 6 months) in a 20x10, and just recently in March and April 2012 for a 10x15. This is the best self store place I have used. Clean, easy access, all first floor units, and a great staff. There is also use of a truck if you are bringing items in/out. Come to Hotel Stor Mor where the beds are hard, the rooms are cold, and the room service is non-existent. Ok, in all seriousness......i'm not sure if all storage places are like this but this place had an unusually high number of people living in their units. While i was here for several months, i came and went a couple times a month. In each of those visits, directly next to me, i saw one guy keeping his home gym in one unit (and working out in it!) and 2 other guys living inside their units. The 2 guys that were living there had well organized, clean, units that were packed full of belongings (with built-in wood shelving and blankets acting as curtains!) but you could clearly tell they were homeless. When we were moving out, one of them yelled at us in a toothless, slightly drunk, incoherent, slurring tone of voice for blocking his unit with a bicycle upon his arrival back home. LOL. Granted, all 3 of their units were very tidy and well organized but i just found it odd that people lived there. Call it 24-hour security if you want....but they mostly kept to their own business. If that aspect doesn't bother you then this is definitely a good storage place to use. They offered the 2nd month free, and even had a truck to use for moving stuff in. Unfortunately, you can't use that truck to move stuff out (that's the catch). The pricing was very competitive when compared to the other units in the Beach Cities area and it was clean. Just note the operating hours since the gate closes in the evening and there is no way out after that point until morning time, unless you are good at climbing fences (or driving through them). You will have to leave your car inside. The only real hiccup here was on the 3rd month when the 1st payment was due (the 1st month is paid upon starting and the 2nd month is free) the auto pay didn't trigger and they sent me a note stating that my account was overdue. Thoughts of Storage Wars started running through my head and i feared my unit was going to be auctioned off to Dave Hester.....YUUUUUP. A simple call to them fixed that and they admitted it was their error as i had signed up for auto-pay from day 1. FYI, during this time i also had a storage unit at Public Storage right around the corner for the past 4 years and i had never noticed anyone living out of their units....so this must be a special place with special rates. Go figure. So minus 1-star for the transients on-site. Had they messed with my stuff or made me feel threatened I would have given only 1-star...but all went well for me. Word of advice...if you come across one of them, don't block their unit. It could get really uncomfortable. How do you spot their unit? They will usually have multiple locks on them, and the ground in front of their unit will appear sort of like a New York City sidewalk with signs of high traffic, spots, stains and markings. read more

What a fiasco. We recently moved and rented out multiple storage units because of the size of our home. We moved items in at different intervals. On the last rental we rented a large unit for 2 months. When our smaller unit was up for renewal we kindly asked the management and owner to let us release the larger unit (which was paid for another 30 days) and let us keep our goods in the smaller unit (win-win for everyone). NO GO, they wouldn't even use common sense or try to accommodate us. They refused to consider the request even though they would make the same on the monthly rental (no financial downside for them). Not friendly or accommodating, look for another rental place that actually cares about their customers. read more
