It's been a while so I thought I would update. I've primarily going to this post office for many years now and I've never had a problem here. Can it get busy and be a long wait at times? Yes but the workers are efficient so the line moves. Are the workers super friendly all the time? No but I still get a "hi" and a smile and I've never experienced any flat out rudeness or overtly bad customer service like I have at other locations. I've sent packages across the country and even internationally and they were able to help me with decent efficiency. I even made a passport appointment for my toddler a year ago and the employee was super patient with us dealing with a toddler and getting photos. And they were very on time with the appointment I scheduled. So honestly I don't have any complaints. I've been to other local post offices where I've experienced flat out rudeness or blatantly bad customer service but never at this Walnut Creek location. It's the one I go to if I happened to go to another location where workers flat out didn't want to help me. This is a post office that has workers that know how to do their job. read more

Went here April 14 to certify my tax forms. Small sign says out of certified mail slips. Then a a very slow employee told people in line in a soft voice that they haven't had certified mail slips for a week and that they're the only post office that don't have one. No certified mail slips for a week leading up to probably one of the busiest days for the post office!? Went to another post office and I'm keeping the location secret because there was no line, fast employees, and plenty of certified mail slips! read more

My mailbox has a lock and key, but suddenly the key would not turn. I was getting notified that mail was getting delivered so I know the post office could open the master lock and deliver mail. I had a suspicion something was blocking the key from turning as we have never changed the locks. After calling many times with no answer, and filing two reports online and in person, I went to this post office location. The manager of this location in Walnut Creek had someone managing my route extract all of my mail for me and hand deliver it to me at an agreed upon meeting time. She was such a nice person she had completed her route in my area and drove back to help me, which I needed as it's tax time and my mailbox had been blocked for 2 weeks. It turned out to be a massive Restoration Hardware marketing magazine I never ordered or wanted that was taking up so much space it blocked my key from turning the lock to open it all the way. A big thanks to the manager and route driver for finally getting this solved for me! I'm not surprised the phone tree and main online report didn't work. USPS seems short staffed. If I could give a minus one star review I would! I have never had a good experience at this location and my recent trip this week was no different. Kindness and helpfulness is non existent. Ridiculous place. I've used this only because I had to, but the service gets worse with each visit. What is going on? I used to love going to post office to buy stamps and cards and boxes. Now I dread going here all the time Today, I came by because I have an RMA (return material authorization) from manufacture with paid shipping. The line was pretty much non-existent and there were 2 workers at the desk. However, when I stated that I felt like my envelope might not have taped well, the worker said "we don't s provide tape dear." I had no idea what it meant so I stepped out of line. The person after me had a first priority with tapes and the worker proceeded to tape it further with her roll of tape gun from a few counter from her. I was so confused. The lady after me said she had some tape to share if I would be willing to wait until she send her package. I found out she bought the tapes in the corner of the store... which would have been nice if the worker pointed me to where the rolls were. I ended up leaving to send another day because it was too much time consuming for now. read more

This post office is questionable: I had checks mailed in a business envelope to a Roofing Company.... never arrived and I had to cancel the checks with my bank. Next, went to Wells Fargo for 'Bill Pay' to the same roofing company. Yeah, you guessed it! That check never arrived either. Something nefarious is going on with the PO service in Walnut Creek. I am now forced to use wire services instead of the inept PO in Walnut Creek. Avoid sending anything though this PO!!!!!!! read more

Go there every Monday to send shipments , between 4-5 pm and there is only one person at the window and 10+ people in line . Labels never print, slow as sloths. read more

Before I could say anything the Filipina old lady yelled out "we're close" I asked if they had a pamphlet for mail boxes to rent and she responded almost yelling, "we're close" How rude!! She could have politely say, "no ma'am, I'm sorry we don't have a pamphlet but pls call or come by tomorrow" Honestly, she gave me the feeling that she doesn't enjoy her job! Has a great experience at this post office. Shay was the one who helped me and he was so polite, friendly and patient with me while he helped me get my packages sent. He was happy to tape my package for me because there was one side that I felt like seemed slightly weak. He was just as patient and kind with everyone else while I was in line. The location itself is clean, spacious, and I didn't see anything wrong with it. The only thing I'd note is the parking lot is very small, so it did lead to people having to hang out in the parking lot waiting for someone else to leave to snag their spot. If you are going during a busy time, this might be an issue for you! I went at 1115am on a Thursday and there were tons of spots available. I actually had to come back the next day as well and the parking lot was more full at 2pm on a Friday. read more

Pleasant customer service guiding on the process and amazing service in the passport desk. Walked in for the passport desk without scheduled appointment. Staff advised us that it has to be scheduled well in advance however we can do the walk-in depending on the staff availability. So we did and succeeded in less than 30 minutes. First, the counter agents are all amazing. I wish I could remember all their names, but I've not had one that has been difficult or unkind. Even when the line is long, they treat each person with respect and kindness. This is my favorite post office to go to. Why the 3 stars? When dropping packages in their after hours drop box, more often than not--it is not scanned at the origin. This creates such a hard time for anyone running a small business. Customers are always complaining about the tracking saying I never sent it, but I have to explain this PO is notorious for not scanning at the origin. PLEASE scan the packages in the drop box! PLEASE! Other than that one issue, it's a great place to get your shipping done. read more

Great customer experience here today. The clerks were amazingly friendly and very attentive to the customers needs. I watched two clerks work through a number of customers and their greeting were pleasanat and the goodbye at the close of the transaction was complementary to the customer. This is definitely one of the better area post offices. I try not to come early in the morning or during the lunch hour because they are always busy. When I worked in the area, I would always walk as well since the parking lot can get crowded. I appreciate that I can drop off large packages and letters in the lobby - even on the weekends. Just beware of the outside drop box. It's usually backed up because someone drops a lot of letters and the letters get stuck. People need to stop this since the next person can easily grab the mail out of the box. The staff is great and I don't know how they stay focused. They also have a good supply of different stamps, though I usually purchase those online. Love coming here and will continue to do so. read more

This is one of the absolutely worst run post offices in California. Been here a few times and it's never better. Last time, 7/5/23 - Line of ten people, one person behind the counter. Everyone in line has a bunch of stuff to mail. I'm literally there just to get stamps. Plus it turns out there's two guys off to the side filling out lables they got from the person behind the counter so as soon as they're done, they cut in front of everyone to get their stuff mailed. But wait. There is one lady who comes out and goes down the line to see what everyone needs. Anyone here just picking up mail? No. "what is it you need?" she asks me. "Just stamps. A book of stamps. Forever stamps" She goes behind the counter and looks in box. "Yup, we have them. Forever stamps. Got 'em." Then she goes on about her business in the back. Wait? You're telling me you have stamps? At a post office. Who would have thunk it? Now can anyone tell me in what possible way that helped me? How did that make the line go faster? In what dimension did that help anyone? How about opening up a register and making yourself useful??? 27 minutes I waited to get a book of stamps. 27. Now the manager of this place will read this. Do you think they will care? Not one bit. And you wonder why the US Postal service is in trouble. Check out the picture attached. No one working behind the counter. There was one person and she left to go look for someone's mail. She's gone 4 minutes. So for four minutes, there's an ever-growing line and no one behind the counter. Welcome to your United States Post Office, folks. read more

this place deserves no stars. More bad news. I have a post office box at this location. I had two small appliances sent here. UPS confirms the delivery also got a tracking number listed. SOOOO, those boxes are missing!!!!!!!!!!! The manager says they need a USPS tracking number and that I should contact the shipper-- WHAT???? It was sent via UPS to the PO BOX. Your people accepted the packages. Now, they are missing from your location where your people took possession of my mail. Btw, I called both the retailer and UPS, they have no idea what this special USPS tracking number is. What is going on here? read more

this office lost my registered mail and it never got delivered to the intended recipient. when i asked them about it, they could not find it, and they said submit a form for a refund. really, that's not the point of registered mail. the point is that the mail gets delivered as intended with a little more extra care than regular mail, but apparently, not to this office. they don't care whether it's registered or not. they will lose track of it equally. they also lost my wife's government ID. we know because we get informed delivery through USPS and get pictures of the mail before it is delivered that day. it didn't get delivered, and it took weeks of filing complaints on the USPS site, and it resulted in a "we sincerely apologize" and that was it. meanwhile we had to pay a reprocessing fee to reissue the ID, which they did not offer to cover. the only thing this office delivers well is junk mail. they get that right every single time and deliver to the right address because that's what's important to these mail carriers. very dissatisfied. do not recommend unless you want mail to get lost. if you have a problem, i recommend you go to the usps web site and file a formal complaint to get any traction on anything. the only way this place is going to get better is if everyone starts to submit formal complaints and it catches the attention of the higher ups. read more

I mailed a letter that included a stamp. When I dropped it off for a certificate of mailing they charged me for another stamp and placed it over the forever stamp I had already affixed to the letter. Thereby double charging me. I tried to explain this to the clerk but she ignored me, explains that they understand. read more

Horrible customer service experience with Passport Services at this location. We booked appointments for our family of five a full month in advance when the calendar first opened, to secure a Saturday appointment. We cancelled other plans to make the available time work. When we showed up at the appointed time, the office was closed! Apparently the staff decided to take the day off and did not even bother emailing or calling us. Nor was there a follow-up or apology after the fact. Unbelievably thoughtless treatment of other human beings. We ended up having to take time off work and school this week to frantically make other appointments. Shame on this staff - these are the kinds of workers who give government employees a bad name, even though many don't deserve it. Do better, people - others are counting on you. read more

Shout out to Ana! 5/5 stars for her!! She was so helpful and responsive, and I've so grateful I was served by her. For the past week I've been trying to locate a package that had a "delivered" status but was not in my mailbox like the tracking number said. I have called this office pretty much every day for the last week trying to locate the package; every time Ana has been respectful, understanding, and polite. It took a while for me to get info re: my package's location but I finally found it because it had been delivered to my leasing office. I wish USPS or my leasing office had at least told me the package was in the leasing office but I understand USPS is crazy hectic during the holidays so I don't really blame them. Been coming here for years, it's one of the better run post offices. They always have a long line after 9am but will usually have 3 or 4 people behind the counter. They do sometimes just have 2 (which is why only 3 stars from me) but I try to get here when they open if I have business. The worst thing though are the Walnut Creek old ladies who come here to buy stamps. They say "I'd like some stamps please." There's a long line. The person asks which do you want. Then the old lady looks to the wall and spend ten minutes deciding which type of stamps she wants. When there's a long line. Who cares what stamps you get? You're going to mail them all out. When it's a long line, the person behind the counter should just pull out the regular stamps and hand them to these old ladies. NOT ask her which ones she wants so she can stand there rudely holding up the long line. This is seriously not acceptable. Happens all the time here. I realize it's not the person's fault behind the counter that these rude old ladies don't understand basic courtesy, but they CAN simply just hand them a regular book of stamps instead of asking which ones they want when the line is long. Short line early in the day, sure, ask them. But long line, make the command decision to hand them book of stamps so the line can get moving. read more

I'm shocked to see so many bad reviews of this post office. I don't live in WC , so never had trouble with receiving packages. But as a tourist just passing through, I was delighted. I had to mail keys to a friend in Arizona (to my NY place, where he's crashing two days before I arrive) and the San Roque post office in Santa Barbara (which I love) still has COVID hours. They don't open early. I figured I'd mail the keys around 3pm when I arrived in Walnut Creek. What a great office. The happiest postal employees I've ever seen. And not like one or two. All three were seemingly on Cloud 9. I'm not saying you move to a new town because they have a great post office, but it's a definite perk. Tons of parking too. read more

I signed up for a P.O. Box more than 6 months ago when I moved here. I still get other people's mail in my box even though I've bought it to their attention several times AND there is a note taped inside to remind them to only put my mail there. obviously people can't read or don't care. If I could I'd cancel and go somewhere else but everything is already linked to this box including my drivers license. read more

Well Claire, I am not surprised to see that this location has a poor 2-star rating. I am sure you are contributing your share of poor customer service after my experience with you this morning. CLOSE THIS LOCATION! USELESS WASTE OF REAL ESTATE IN WALNUT CREEK! I lost my passport and in preparation for travels I needed to have my documentation verified and reviewed by an acceptance agent. A simple verification process that is done prior to sending all of your documents out. I walked into the EMPTY building and requested passport services, the first gentleman jokes that "he's not good at that" and points to Claire, who then proceeds to tell me that she can't help me because she needs to get into the system and that she doesn't know if the system is up, or if she is in. Then she shakes the mouse looks at the computer like I am inconveniencing her day. If you're not logged in..... I suggest you LOGIN IN THEN!! She then tells me that they will only help me if I have an appointment, I look at her and the man and say, "so there is nobody in here and you are refusing to help me." Literally not another body in there and she refused. Claire, you're doing a great job at delivering POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! It really does take an effort to CHOSE to not be helpful. Front office female clerks need training on customer service and courtesy. Does not exude customer care and challenging my questions or request for clarifications from my personal experience at separate times. I agree with the comment below. Despite paying for the PO Boxes, do not expect your mail to be delivered within the same day or even 1 -3 days later. They hold the deliveries for some reason at the so called back and do not deliver the box timely in your POBox. So disappointed and disheartened by the post office service. read more

I haven't been receiving my mail because it was "forwarded". I never made this request, and apparently no one can figure out why it's happening, but I've had to drive to this post office to pick up my mail and have been calling to get this fixed. I was told a package that was forwarded from my address was at the post office, and the supervisor/manager said it can be delivered today after he told the carrier that my mail shouldn't be forwarded. I did not receive the package, I cannot track it, and I called 5 times since 4:30pm and no one is answering. If that package was sent back to the original sender, I'm going to have to pay for shipping again. Also, my medication was forwarded back to the original sender and I have to drive to Livermore to pick it up because I cannot keep waiting on it. I was also receiving the previous owner's mail for months - I recently returned them all to sender and when I mentioned that to the supervisor, he said her mail was requested to be forwarded since 2022. So I don't understand why I was still receiving her mail for so long if that was the case. I don't know if me forwarding her mail messed up my deliveries, but that shouldn't have happened. I know you need to actually REQUEST for that. Super inconvenient - I'm so stressed out. I was told all that needed to be done was for the supervisor to let the carrier to know I live at my address and to not forward my mail and packages, but apparently nothing was actually done. read more

They don't put envelopes in your PO Box anymore so you can't renew by mail. The online services don't work to pay online. Kiosk says PO Box services unavailable. What a waste of time. They should reduce the cost of the PO Box since the services they offer are never available. read more

coming here post lunch in the middle of the day on a weekday is the best time to come here. there's a small parking lot which does get crowded when everyone gets here at the same time. street parking available but not recommended-too few spaces. plan accordingly or plan to wait..... read more
