Easy to access from freeway. Lots of parking - moderate lines near closing time. Good post office. Lots of parking and lots of stairs. I'm really not sure if I saw a wheelchair ramp - its possible there was one - but the route I took had many many stairs. I noticed lots of po boxes and pick up boxes. Very nice system that people were using. I noticed metal detectors as I walked in. I go use a post office in Fruitvale Oakland all the time - I have to look again if they have those too. If they do I somehow don't notice them. These I suppose are more noticeable as they are in the middle of the room rather than at the front door. People in front of me were sending money by using cash. Big, big bills and lots of them. I suppose that is where problems come into play? I don't know much about this city - I heard it has a bad reputation - from I personally saw looked great with exception of the metal detectors. Children growing up today need to know it wasn't like this 20 years ago.

Back in High School, most of the Sophomore girls I knew picked typing class as one of their two electives for the year. It wasn't so much because it was the first year we could take it, or that it was fun. We took it because the football coach taught it and he was about 32 and the most gorgeous specimen we'd ever laid eyes on. Looking back now, he was quite a flirt too. This class should have been an easy A, right? Nah, not for me. The keys had no letters and once teachie-poo took down the "QWERTY" cheat sheet banner, I totally lost interest. It wasn't so much the key memorization that bothered me. It was having to continuously start over when you screwed up so bad even the freshest bottle of white out couldn't fix the mess. Almost every day, the head cheerleader would be at his desk talking his beautiful ear off, while she overly giggled at everything that came out of his mouth. Imagine my surprise when my report card grade was less than stellar. Turns out he was paying attention to the class the whole time and was well aware of how my best friend and I sat in the back with our smuggled-in walkmans discussing how great our lives will be when we marry Billy Idol and Prince. Go figure! Thanks to the Internet, I've redeemed myself and can actually type at a pretty fast pace without looking!! Is this good or bad? Perhaps just a sign-o-the times. Another sign of the times we can thank the Internet for is the total lack of excitement in the good ole snail mail box. Day after day after day, I look and all I find is crap! Bills, bills and more bills. A tie for second is credit card offers and promises of better mortgage rates. Follow it up with smog check coupons and an endless supply of junk mail. Am I getting old (rhetorical) or what? I'm like my granny now who won't give up her rotary phone. Long live snail mail! ------------------- I love this post office. They are friendly and didn't throw a fit when my son was about five and pulled the fire alarm. And now, they have a self service machine that allows you to weigh and process your own packages with no wait!! Today, for less than $5 bucks, I mailed some Valentine care packages to both of my grandmas. Neither one of them have ever used a computer. I'm hoping when they receive it, they feel as warm and fuzzy as I did when sending them. Back away from your computers folks and send some snail mail to your loved ones today!

Been waiting at this door 30 minutes. They're "looking for a package" one person at a time. The waits here are always ridiculous.

They have a drive up drop off box which is convenient. Place was clean but busy in the afternoon. Representatives are pleasant.

Seems pretty late for the rest of America, but that is their time listed. I show up and the door is locked with lettering saying they open at 10:30? Wth. So I wait and came back later. It says both online and at the door that they reopen at 2pm. So when I arrive the lady yells behind a screen that we open at 2:30pm. Wth? Then as I get service... I received a notice that I missed a package that requires a signature. That's why I'm here. The note said it's available for pickup at this Am Cyn location. They tell me it's in Vallejo. Wth? What happened to second attempts for delivery? I went online to schedule a ReDelivery. Website says that my package is both available for this service, and not available for the service. Ultimayely, It wouldn't let me Reschedule. So I head back to USPS Am Cyn, and... finally received my package. Now I'm glad it was there, but why wasnt it with a Carrier for ReDelivery? They only made one attempt.? All this Annex is good for is buying stamps having a PO box, or dropping off a pre-paid, labelled packages. Other than that, it's useless. I only live a block away, but I'm choosing to avoid this shack in the future if possible.

She was honest about walk-ins for passport. Acknowledged me not sure if the gentlemen can help me at the moment. She stepped away to ask him. Got the gentlemen for me to assist with my passport. Before anything else, Monica had me fill out a form to complete. As I was done, I waited in line but Monica was busy. Lady by the name Marvese came out, looked right at me, did not say anything or smile and then looked away. I was really upset because why be there with your RBF face and not be of service to the people that need things to be done? That's a shame, whether she's a manager or not, please check on her because ain't nobody deserve to be treated in that manner. So I let the dude behind me to go to her because she clearly did not want to help me. When Monica was free she directed me the right person to help with my passport. I gave my form to the gentleman. Unfortunately don't know his name for there was no name tag but he was very helpful and I'm grateful and thankful for that. I got all the answers to my questions to move forward with processing my passport. He also told me that they accept walk ins as long as u come in between 9am to 10am on Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri. Once again thank u to Monica and the gentleman that helped me with my passport. Marvese check yourself before you reck yourself! Nobody needs your low vibration. Well, the UPS store is great for UPS stuff. Which would explain my previous five star reviews…read more they claim they have the ability to process mail on behalf of the USPS. BUT. Their ability to process the USPS material is almost grossly limited compared to a real post office. So you may think their hours are more convenient than your local post office. BUT. The number of package pickups at the UPS locations is lame. Thanks to Amazon and other pressures on the USPS, they now process mail 24/7. Yes weekends, holidays, rain, shine... So if you managed to sneak your mail at the post office minutes before their closing time, most likely the mail will be picked up and sent for processing. You go to the UPS store and forget it. Your package will be stalled in transit at the store. For days. That would be Sundays, holidays. There won't be after hours pick up. And your mail will be stuck in the UPS store until the postal service arrives for their extremely limited number of pickups. But wait. The UPS store will most likely charge you more than a post office for the same service. Just go to a real post office.

It's now two minutes before my appointment and I walk up to the counter, hoping that maybe there's another notary there, and he tells me I'm going to have to wait until after these ladies are done. I asked if he could maybe charge me now so I wouldn't have to wait to do that afterwords (I've never done this before, I don't know how it works and I am recently disabled with a back injury that makes it hard for me to walk and painful to be upright in general, I use a cane to walk and I also had my two young boys with me, they are 5 and 7 and, well, if you know you know) the gentleman at the counter informed me that that's not how it works and only the notary can charge me after it's done. So I stood there, in agonizing pain, while these three women chatted it up like they were out to brunch on a Sunday afternoon. No sense of urgency, no consideration for the fact that I was waiting ( yes I made that known, but don't get me wrong, I was very nice.)... I want to make it clear that I am not upset that they couldn't charge me before hand, and it doesn't bother me that the ladies were having a conversation, none of this is their fault. I'm upset because less than 5 minutes before my appointment, they went ahead and allowed someone else to take my spot. These women were able to walk in two minutes ahead of me and take priority simply because it takes me longer to get across the parking lot than them, or because I wasn't more than five minutes early for my appointment. My APPOINTMENT!! I scheduled this time for good reason, and all they had to do was tell the walk-ins that they had a 10 o'clock appointment and if no one was there in the next 2-3 minutes then they could take the appointment slot. These women had a whole BOOK to sign/notarize, I literally had ONE page! Moral of the story- do not bother making an appointment here, they don't care.
