The person who thought it was funny to delay service and laughing over my use of the word "partner."
Jessica R.

Today, roughly around 4:50pm, I got to experience this government representative dish out poor customer service skills. When it was my turn, I needed a change of address form. I filled it out and gave it to him. I requested another one "for my partner." I said, "Can I get another one for my partner, please?" He stares at me like he doesn't understand me. I repeat it. Stares. Another guy pops in and asks for the same form, and his voice is raspy. I speak for him since the same rep doesn't seem to understand him, "He'd like a change of address form." The staff person gives it to him right away after I state this. That guy thanks me. It's further proof the representative understands me, and he had no problem understanding me until this question. Then I say for the third time, "Can I get a change of address form for my partner, please?" This time I wait. We stare. He then decides to laugh, points at me, turning towards his coworker and loudly says, "She wants a change of address form for her (emphasis) 'partner.'" Okay, dude, I see what's going on. He is anti-LGBT and trying to delay service because we all know the word partner is a connotation for same-sex partner. Well, there's a reason I choose a non-gendered language including it shouldn't matter what gender my partner is. There is nothing funny about my use of the word partner, nor should it be a reason to be so disrespectful. I can't believe someone so immature got this position in our diverse, I hope inclusive, town. He was only wasting everyone's time over this (long line already). Even his coworker ignored him. No one laughed. But we all had to wait and deal with such a sorry excuse for a human being. The line barely moves, and it's cause of sh-tty workers like him. I don't even think he can work independently as he frequently had to ask his coworker what seemed like basic questions. Or maybe he's just that lazy pulling sh-t all day. I feel bad for her. It's a disservice to our community. I'm reporting this behavior somewhere official.

workers

unfortunately, my time here was very bad. on my part had missing information and that was on me however, the way the workers dealt with it was super inconsiderate. I was being helped by the lady Q she was trying to give me options. However her coworker sarah interrupted and said that she can't help me because she wanted to get out on time which is understandable. I understand that however she was like very rude and very abrupt when I walked in, which is OK we have bad Days, but even after that basically saying that she can't help me because she wants to take a lunch. Felt very unprofessional on top of that while I was waiting for q to help me because she was helping some other customers because I was trying to figure out some stuff on my part. I was sitting there waiting right in front of her and she just says I'm going to take my break and she left me and the other person she was helping the. the other person wasn't aware that q was leaving because q didn't let her know that she was done. She just said that she was taking her break to her other coworker so I just think that the professionalism is very lacking but I think that they should definitely work on their customer service and it's only an hour after opening so I don't understand you have an attitude already.

The journey that the Vallejo postal workers sent my package on, when it was supposed to simply be forwarded.
Haley M.

The service here is absolutely, unequivocally awful. Here is my latest story: I ordered a small package from out of the country. It took two weeks to arrive to the US, and during that time I moved to a new house. I put in a change of address form with the post office and was told no problem my package would be forwarded to me. I continued to track it and noticed that it was marked as "out for delivery" and "notice left" AT MY OLD ADDRESS. I called the Vallejo usps and asked them why they tried to deliver it when they should have forwarded it (at this point they had had it for over a week extra just sitting there in the building, waiting for me to pick it up with the notice left at the place I no longer lived). They said it was a mistake on the part of the mail carrier and would forward it. It was marked as 'forwarded' on the tracking site so I then waited another week. I checked the tracking again and it was still being processed in Oakland after an additional week, so I called the Vallejo post office again to ask what the holdup was. The woman I spoke with put me on hold for awhile and then told me that it had been sent back from the Oakland processing facility to Vallejo again, and they had it in the building and were about to leave another notice for it at my old address (for the second time). At this point I just drove up there (an hour in the car) and picked it up myself at the counter, as I don't trust them to do ANYthing with my mail. They did not apologize once. The fact that they tried to deliver my very expensive package to an address that I no longer lived at not once, but twice, is mind boggling. I'm posting the screenshot I took of the tracking information so everyone can appreciate the wonderful journey that my package went on, and will also be filing a complaint with consumer affairs.

Well, the UPS store is great for UPS stuff. Which would explain my previous five star reviews…read more they claim they have the ability to process mail on behalf of the USPS. BUT. Their ability to process the USPS material is almost grossly limited compared to a real post office. So you may think their hours are more convenient than your local post office. BUT. The number of package pickups at the UPS locations is lame. Thanks to Amazon and other pressures on the USPS, they now process mail 24/7. Yes weekends, holidays, rain, shine... So if you managed to sneak your mail at the post office minutes before their closing time, most likely the mail will be picked up and sent for processing. You go to the UPS store and forget it. Your package will be stalled in transit at the store. For days. That would be Sundays, holidays. There won't be after hours pick up. And your mail will be stuck in the UPS store until the postal service arrives for their extremely limited number of pickups. But wait. The UPS store will most likely charge you more than a post office for the same service. Just go to a real post office.

On the date of the incident, I visited this business to send a standard document envelope from Napa, California to Santa Monica, California. I explicitly requested the most economical ground shipping option with tracking. Instead, I was informed of the following: That USPS tracking was not available for my shipment; That I was required to use FedEx tracking instead; That the cost to ship a standard envelope would be $47. This pricing and explanation appeared inconsistent with standard USPS ground shipping services. Based on my prior experience using independent mail centers in Benicia and Glen Cove, similar shipments typically cost approximately $5-$13 and include tracking as part of the service. After leaving the business, I independently verified the issue: A USPS representative confirmed that the quoted price was not consistent with USPS Ground Advantage pricing; Independent mail centers in Benicia and Glen Cove confirmed that USPS tracking is normally included and that the $47 charge was significantly above standard rates; I later completed the same shipment at a different mail center in Glen Cove for approximately $13 using USPS Ground service with tracking included. This suggests the possibility that I was either misinformed about available shipping options or directed toward a significantly more expensive service than what I requested. The behavior I experienced may potentially fall under deceptive shipping or misrepresentation practices involving mail services, including situations where customers are: Told USPS services are unavailable when they are actually standard options; Directed toward higher-cost carriers without clear justification; Given inconsistent or misleading information about tracking requirements. I am also concerned about the potential impact on vulnerable individuals. While in the business, I observed elderly individuals and individuals who may have limited English proficiency, who could be more susceptible to unclear or misleading pricing practices. When I questioned the pricing and declined to proceed, I was met with a dismissive response, including the phrase "Welcome to Napa," delivered in a condescending tone. This interaction gave the impression that such pricing and treatment may be considered normal in Napa, which is deeply concerning as a consumer and community member.
