    Amazon return of a PFD

    The UPS Store, 101 W American Canyon Rd #508, American Canyon, CA 94503 7/26/25 at about 2:00pm Amazon return item was a PFD in a clear bag I arrived at the UPS retail store to process an Amazon return and stood in line until was called forward by a handsome well-spoken young black man. He scanned my QR code and then said the item needed to be in a box or plastic bag. I commented I would comeback another day with it properly packaged. I left the store and got into my vehicle and paused, as it occurred to me the item is already in a plastic bag, it's just clear. I took the item back into the UPS store and asked the young man if I could simply add a little tape to seal the package and send it back that way. He said, "No, UPS has standards." I explained to him UPS often ships items with just a shipping label and he said no again, and repeated UPS has standards and this doesn't meet those standards. This is when a short pretty white woman in glasses with a bunch of words on her name tag approached, and I could only guess she was the manager. I repeated my reasoning with her and she supported the young man's position and said they could not accept the package and it didn't meet UPS standards. I told them both, as they stood at the counter, that this inconveniences me and I was certain this was nothing to do with UPS standards. The young man waved 'bye-bye' and said "byyyyyye" as I departed. Within 5 minutes of leaving the UPS store, I ran into a UPS driver and asked my questions, and he said they ship all kinds of stuff, packaged in different ways even shipping labels stuck straight on items, and as long as the plastic bag was sealed and nothing was spilling out, "it's perfectly fine to ship." I drove to the UPS store, Napa downtown location and scanned in and dropped off my item in its sealed clear plastic bag without issue. Normally, I wouldn't waste my time writing this. However, it's clear UPS standards are missing the mark when it comes to customer service and finding solutions for customers. I would have gone along with what they were telling me at the American Canyon location if they offered me a solution, such as offering to sell me a box or polybag, clearly a missed opportunity on their part. They tripped over their own egos and took joy in sending me away. How many sales are they missing? Are they treating others this way too? This review is because they inconvenienced me. The attached photo is the package being accepted at the Napa downtown location.

    This place is a fraud. I didn't use there computer?! How are they going to charge me a extra $3.00 for one print...black and white! And I asked if there's a way to print from the self service printers and get told no. Seriously I don't know how they get away with this. I seriously hate this store, everything I'm forced to come here its something new where they are robing you

    This store is conveniently located and the staff are always helpful and fast. One thing did bother me however. The so called "employee of the month" Steve stared at me the entire time I waited in line with this creepy smirk on his face. Almost like he could see into my soul. I feel like he knew what was inside my mysterious brown cardboard package and was secretly judging me, but at the same time strangely accepting of Amazon return. At any rate, Tiffany was the best and I feel truly deserves employee of the month. After all, Steve is a cardboard snowman.

    I'm sure I'm not the only customer that feels like this, but this is the manager who works at the UPS store who constantly gives disrespect to customers that comes in, who constantly doesn't help with their issues. Not ones that I ever get kicked out the store. I chose to leave and on top of that he told me to my face that I would get a refund because the store lost my package. I called corporate and they told me the same thing that I would have to go to the store, and the manager would give me a refund. I go to the store And the manager goes back on his word and doesn't even give me my refund for having my package end up in Texas when it's supposed to go to Los Angeles California. Karma will get you!!!

    $750 for 50 color flyers!!?! Told the guy he is nuts and then he said he misspoke and it was $170!! Ridiculous and rude at the same time.

On the date of the incident, I visited this business to send a standard document envelope from Napa, California to Santa Monica, California. I explicitly requested the most economical ground shipping option with tracking. Instead, I was informed of the following: That USPS tracking was not available for my shipment; That I was required to use FedEx tracking instead; That the cost to ship a standard envelope would be $47. This pricing and explanation appeared inconsistent with standard USPS ground shipping services. Based on my prior experience using independent mail centers in Benicia and Glen Cove, similar shipments typically cost approximately $5-$13 and include tracking as part of the service. After leaving the business, I independently verified the issue: A USPS representative confirmed that the quoted price was not consistent with USPS Ground Advantage pricing; Independent mail centers in Benicia and Glen Cove confirmed that USPS tracking is normally included and that the $47 charge was significantly above standard rates; I later completed the same shipment at a different mail center in Glen Cove for approximately $13 using USPS Ground service with tracking included. This suggests the possibility that I was either misinformed about available shipping options or directed toward a significantly more expensive service than what I requested. The behavior I experienced may potentially fall under deceptive shipping or misrepresentation practices involving mail services, including situations where customers are: Told USPS services are unavailable when they are actually standard options; Directed toward higher-cost carriers without clear justification; Given inconsistent or misleading information about tracking requirements. I am also concerned about the potential impact on vulnerable individuals. While in the business, I observed elderly individuals and individuals who may have limited English proficiency, who could be more susceptible to unclear or misleading pricing practices. When I questioned the pricing and declined to proceed, I was met with a dismissive response, including the phrase "Welcome to Napa," delivered in a condescending tone. This interaction gave the impression that such pricing and treatment may be considered normal in Napa, which is deeply concerning as a consumer and community member.
