Most of the time I don't have a problem returning Amazon products. I have been using this local Staples not only for Amazon returns but also for materials. I went to this location to help my elderly parents return around six Amazon items. There was a bit of miscommunication at the Amazon return desk. I will usually return one item at a time using the QR code. I wasn't aware that I could download all QR codes at once and make the return process quicker. I will definitely learn this on my part. However, the exchange of conversation I had with an employee by the name of Dylan was very uncomfortable. He made me get in and out of line with each QR code. When I asked if he could help me with downloading them all at once his response was "help you with what?!" Not only that, he left me on my own to clear another line. How hard would it have been to simply spend an extra couple of minutes to help the process go smoothly? He just left me standing there. His refusal to help me was a complete blowoff. No doubt. But, I will do my part in making my next return go smoothly. I've never had a problem with returning Amazon product at this location with any other employee - only Dylan. I also overheard him speaking with a customer over the phone talking negatively about the Vacaville location. He said, "Oh you went to the Vacaville location? Well there's your first mistake." I can't imagine it being any worse than what I experienced. His demeanor was very hostile. Demeanor and/or voice inflection can sure make a difference. read more

Come here quite a bit for office supplies, drop off Amazon returns, computer accessories, and just to browse... this store is so organized and calming to me. I come here when I want to relax and enjoy walk around and browse for stuff I need. Customer service here is always efficient and polite. If you sign up for their rewards program you can earn points which go towards a coupon. Once I was able to redeem a $30 coupon for the points I accumulated! Was pretty stoked about that. Staples is also my go to for electronic recycling (old batteries, cables, pretty much any small electronic waste they accept) in exchange for store points. The only downside to this place is that their public bathroom is absolutely disgusting, filthy and through multiple visits to this store I noticed hadn't been cleaned in a long time which is not acceptable. Please, management, hire someone to sanitize that restroom!! It needs it badly. That is why I deducted one star for the state of the ladies restroom. Otherwise, it's a great place to shop! read more

UPDATE: I emailed staples corporate about my books and they apologized for the damage done to my books. They also gave me a check for the amount my books were worth. I am very happy with how things were handled after the experience. I'm so heartbroken. I had some expensive anatomy books that I thought would be great to get a spiral bind on them. I paid for an anatomy atlas for $120 and an anatomy coloring book for $30. I took them to staples because they said they could do a spiral bind and it was very inexpensive. But I guess you get what you pay for because they totally messed up on my books. The hole punched didn't go through some of the pages, the spiral is sticking out at the ends because the hole punches didn't go through all the way, and they didn't catch some of the pages on to the spiral. Now I'm stuck with books that are semi usable. The customer service was eh. They weren't really apologetic or even tried to show that they cared that they messed up on my books. At least I got a refund but $8 is nothing compared to $150 worth of books. Beware of taking your things that you paid a lot for because this could happen to you. read more

It's funny how we take for granted the warm smiles and always willing to help employees of big box retailers, who somehow have the capacity to make each customer "feel" appreciated for their business. Yesterday morning I ran into this location quickly to make a few copies before a meeting, and to my surprise, Margaret the epitome of a dedicated and highly professional Print and Production Manager was gone. Gone?, this couldn't be I sighed. Why would Margaret resign after a handful of years and long, often unappreciated years under piles of color prints? and helping outside the print and production area, as "we" customers assumed that Margaret was "Staples". Whenever the business regulars thought of Staples, Margaret was top of mind. My company would of loved to snag this trophy employee long ago if it hadn't been for budget cuts. Wherever Margaret went, I trust that it was a bigger and brighter opportunity and may all her journeys be wins! INCREDIBLY incompetent here. The management claimed they would call me back upon reviewing the printing issue I had with business cards, then proceeded not to do so after hours. The customer service here is a joke. The machines are always broke. It's tremendously frustrating and overpriced at times. I stood at the UPS counter, one person was on the phone and another person was just standing. She never addressed me, then another lady walked up behind me and the girl immediately asked if she could help her. I turned to the other customer who gave an awkward apologetic smile because she knew I was standing right at the counter waiting! Then I said to the employee that I was in line and needed the UPS service. She looked at me and paused, the asked if I wasn't to drop off or ship a package and I said ship and she basically whispered that that was closed! It's that time of the year to get organized and print out miscellaneous tax documents. Anyway, I just needed to get out of the house and do something as I was getting cabin fever plus I had a bunch of errands I needed to do. After doing a quick research of what printer to buy, I settled on staples after seeing that the printer I wanted was in stock in this particular location. The place is clean, organized, and dangerously distracting for someone like me who loves office supplies. I wandered through the pen aisle and flipped through people's laments, art, and scribbles via scrap paper as they test the pens. I did some road tests of my own with the pens and found something I liked. The stationary aisle also proved to be a productivity killer as I lost track of time flipping through quotes in journals and looking through stationary. After awhile, I refocused on getting the printer, finding some paper and checking out. I wish I remembered the cashier's name, he was very friendly and helpful with getting me cheaper paper, offering warranties, and getting my ink. read more

Good Golly Miss Molly, this crew is so Jolly! OK, so their aren't really jolly so to speak, more like very helpful and friendly. When looking for a replacement ribbon for my 5 year-old Fax machine, the clerk helped me find it. Then he came back to me a few minutes later and mentioned that I may want to upgrade to a newer machine that used less expensive ink vs ribbon. Since the replacement ribbon was $35 and the new printer/copier/scanner/fax was $69, it just made sense. Later I find out that this isn't a clerk, but the store manager. In addtion to being helpful, he went online and pulled up all the stats on the machine for me. When he had to go problem solve, he brought a nice clerk over to finish the transaction. Rather than make me wait in line, he opened up his own register and finished my transaction. Now thats what I call a customer service Super Star! And in this economy, that is what it is going to take to stay ahead of the competition. AND PS. The printer/scanner/fax that I ordered at the store was delivered to my office the next day. Elvis, was an extremely knowledge on all products, explained to me the proper printer ink for my specific printer and also gave me more insight on a laminators. I probably stopped and asked him question 5 times while in the store. This man, definitely needs a promotion, not only is he knowledgeable but he also was none stop working, and restocking items. Then to top it off at the cash register, Angelica took care of me. Who was extremely sweet and kind, and explained to me the staples membership (something I knew nothing about). Drove from Dixon to Fairfield on I80 and when i got there they said it would take 24 hours. Told them I called and was told you could do it in an hour. BEWARE of THIS Staples!! Every year my office does a funny christmas card to send out to our other offices around the nation. We ALL choose a funny pose or wear funny clothing. After asking staples to print this card we got a call from the manager. They stated they would not produce the card because of they way it portrayed the "black" member of our group. This person was making a funny face while sitting on the ground playing with a monster truck toy (his selection.) Keep in mind we were all doing something silly or odd. Bottom line is that the manager singled him out for the color of his skin. He did not see him as another member of our office just a "black" person. Shame on this manage and shame on staples. I definitely give todays adventure at staples 5 stars. I was looking for some items I needed for work as well as things for home. While browsing the isles I was approached by an employee who wanted to make sure I was finding everything alright. I was of course. Then once I was up at the registers the same employee opened up and quickly rung up the 2 separate purchases I needed to do. I believe his name was Jason and he said he is the General manager. Gold star from me for sure. The company I work for (and myself in my personal not at work life) take our signature customer service standards VERY seriously. You (of course Jason) nailed it. Be aware unless you BUY a warranty staples is useless. You get NO WARRANTY what so ever on stuff you buy there. Most places you can buy an "Extended" warranty which extends the basic warranty. But at staples if you buy something unless you purchase a warranty you have NOTHING. I will never shop there again, that is absurd. read more
