My phone call was answered by two crossing clerks. One claimed it was a bad line. The other 'listened' to my complaint that a postal worker had intentionally cut my tree and left the branches on the path under my mailbox. She asserted that USPS people couldn't possibly be at fault, and I needed video as proof. When I detailed that the damage could only have been inflicted by the mail deliverer, she said I was being "Ridiculous", and that she, "Didn't have time for this." She then hung up on me. When I went into the Post Office the next day, I was greeted cordially and helpfully by two employees who told me the Postmaster was on the phone. The second employee revealed she'd overheard the conversation of the previous afternoon and that she'd seen Stacy hang up on me. She apologised for her colleague's behaviour. The (acting) postmaster eventaully came to the counter, listened carefully and took notes. Stacy was rude, insulting, and dismissive. I've encountered similar behaviour from other USPS employees at this site: one of whom (a non-native English speaker) told me I didn't know how to write the number 9, and corrected it on my envelope. I am a native Englsih speaker and have a doctorate. After 28 years of dealing with the impatient, hostile, miserable, rude clerks at the main postoffice, I now choose to drive to the (pleasant, cheerful, helpful) USPS on Soquel, despite being able to walk 10" to the downtown location. read more

This is the worst post office in the county. The workers here have the nastiest attitudes, especially the bitter old women there. My delivery man decided to not drop off a large package at my house and instead forced me to pick it up. I asked for help to load it into my car and I had to ask 3 different workers before any one decided to give me a hand. This wouldn't have been an issue if they had done their jobs in the first place and delivered the package to my house in Bonny Doon. Instead I had to drive all the way into town to deal with those hags. The people here are just miserable and worthless. Take the extra time to go to the office in Seabright. I rarely write reviews, but this has happened to me three times now in 2 months. As well as my neighbors. I receive a notification saying that my package has been "delivered". When I walk down to check my mailbox, it's not there. Some of these have been important, so I frantically contact the sender to see what happened and try to troubleshoot. This is a message I received from one of them: "Occasionally, USPS will mark a package as being delivered, but not actually make the delivery until the following 1-2 business days, which is quite frustrating! We have noticed this happening with many of our customer's orders lately. Let's give it a day to see if it shows up. Please let us know if it has arrived or not." This is highly unethical. It is not okay for USPS to mark it as delivered when they know very well that it has not been delivered yet. There is a sign at a window that says "Pick Up & Drop Off" however they don't do Pick Up you have to get in the regular line. I hate this post office. This is absolutely the worst service I have experienced from a post office in my life. I will not list the names of the locals working at the Santa Cruz office but if this doesn't improve I am going to start. Only in an effort to have their supervisors take action specifically. I rely on shipping 6-8 packages a day for my small business. It's as if this post office is advocating for the failure of it. It's all encompassing as well. Delivery, counter, management. There is a window to drop packages off. You literally set them on the counter and they are supposed to be scanned in and then sent on their way. If you do not watch the women scan them in, which means being insistent that she does it in your prescience. They will not be scanned. That means the customer is now unable to track them. It is rare they are ever scanned again at any point of the journey. This NEVER happens when I receive packages or use another location. EVER! It appears to be the rule in this facility. Today she again was on her break and I asked the clerk next to her to please make sure she received the packages. She said they are always supposed too. OMG typical. Back each other up and pretend I'm the one that doenst understand the process. Without fail she is always backed up. I never see this at any other location. There is never a log jam of packages on the front counter ripe for theft. They are immediately scanned and taken behind the counter. She seemingly gets behind on purpose. That way you will be unlikely to insist she scan them because you will have to wait several minutes for her to catch up. What this means for me is a lack of trust from my clients, more unnecessary explanations from me. Less time doing what I enjoy. Once in my lifetime you would wave to the post man you knew his name and there was cache with that job. Now it seems like a bunch of disgruntled under challenged entitled unapologetic people have just pushed out anyone with a work ethic or creativity or efficiency. We are lucky to get our mail daily. There have been periods of 2-3 days where the mailman doesn't come. He says packages were delivered when they were not, and quickly speeds off without leaving mail if a car is parked In front of the mailbox requiring him to get out. You have to act enraged in order for your issue to be escalated to a supervisor. His lpersonality is non existent and customer service skills lack rudimentary vocabulary words and amount to a string of guttural tones. read more

First of all, they lost the priority mail from the US Department of State that contains my new passport. They scanned it as delivered in my locked mailbox. But it didn't land there, or my neighbor's mailboxes. After searching frantically for a whole week, I finally gave up and spent the time filling out the paperwork and prepare other documents to request a passport reissue. I brought all documents in a priority envelop along with a prepaid shipping label to the USPS window, wanting to be sure it was handled properly. The woman at the window went ahead and taped the label so hastily she taped over the barcode. Realizing her mistake, she tried to peel off the tape, and of course she ripped off the envelop surface. She then just literally patched up her mistake by taping it back, still taping over the barcode. Furthermore, she left two sides of the label flaring open, and the entire label was all crooked under her manhandling. She then threw my mail into the pile and told me it was good to go. No wonder they lost the priority mail with the new passport in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if this mail requesting reissue wouldn't be delivered. I'd be lucky if at least it gets returned to me so at least I could reuse the paperwork and the photo. Worst post office in California. They have staffing problems, attitude problems, technology problems, etc. We have continual problems with vacation hold requests. Mostly, the mail does not stop. Even with a note in the box!!! Or it stops for some days but not all days. And it is almost never delivered on the day requested. IF there is any held mail, it gets delivered 2 or 3 days after the end of the vacation period. If you use the electronic "vacation hold" request, the deliver supervisor says there sometimes is a computer glitch and they never get the vacation hold request. (Even though I get a confirmation # and email showing the mail hold). The delivery supervisor actually told me the way to increase the chances my mail would be held, I should come into the post office PERSONALLY and fill out a yellow stop mail card! Definitely recommend for drop in passport hours! Called into the office beforehand to confirm if the office is still taking drop in passport renewals because some offices close for a few days of the month. The hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 - 11:00 AM and 12:30 - 4 PM but be wary that they will most likely cut off the line around 10:30 AM and again at 3:30 PM. I got in at 10:40 AM but they had already cut off the line so I returned at 12:10 PM to wait in line. They started serving people at 12:30 PM and I was third in line. I had all my documents ready and was out in 15 minutes. Pretty helpful and friendly staff and service was a plus. Overall, very efficient and not too bad of an experience besides the long drive. Tip: Avoid Monday's, especially in the morning, since they are the most busy during that time. Also, please read the passport website and have the forms, proof of identity and residence, copies of all, and passport photo ready! It's incredibly frustrating how many people showed up and didn't fill out any of the forms or have copies so it held up the line and makes everyone have to wait a long time! read more

I felt very sad when I saw the fence that was recently put up around the post office. I see no construction happening as the signs indicate. It seems to me that the fence was put up to keep homeless persons from sleeping on the porch. These members of our community have come to rely on the library porch on cold and rainy days, having few other sheltered options. If there were issues with this situation, couldn't they have been solved some other way besides taking this drastic and unkind measure. I have always loved the post office and friendly staff, but now I feel only sad. On another equally important note. A heavily insured registered mail package was sent to me from New York. This is supposed to be the most secure form of delivery - postage was $125 - and requires that the recipient sign for it. But my package was left outdoors on a picnic table. No one was asked to sign.
