Not to often I think will be rating a post office but was surprised by the overall rating so bad to share my experience. Dropping off package , a little before closing and the line is long , always is now , feel the USPS never has enough desk help. But the line moved a quickly as possible and when my turn the person behind the counter was super friendly and helpful and even recommended a better way to ship for cost and time. While in line the office hours were done , they allowed all those in line or waking in to get service and had a great attitude for being end of what I expect was a busy day. I made my way to this particular US Post Office because it offered the nearest date to schedule my daughter's passport. Keep in mind that although this place offers the "nearest" date, the appointment in itself was still about a month out from scheduling. Appointments are MANDATORY & any walk ins will not be assisted. The appointment was made and the instructions stated that we would need to arrive 10-15 minutes early and needed to have all of the proper documentations readily on hand. I left work early and gave myself time to navigate here while toting my 2 year old. What I was met with was a very short employee who directed me to stand off to the side while he helped outer patrons. The wait was long especially if you are factoring in an extremely antsy child who can't seem to stay still for too long. I was eventually helped by Ja. Came here before lunch to get an estimate and packaging for a gift i wanted to send. No one was there and tho the workers seemed distracted i got an estimate and liked the birthday decoration packaging they had available for purchase. I came back around noon to actual ship and it was very busy. This post office is small and also does passport appts and there were only 2 workers so one was basically occupied with the passport appt the whole time leaving one worker to take all the customers. It did have a wait time of maybe 30 mins but they were quick once i got to the front since i had everything ready. Overall good experience here! read more

He reviewed my documents, collected necessary fees, and sent me on my merry way. It was a pleasant visit and not too much to note other than this USPS is your standard neighborhood facility. It's not fancy (most government offices are not) but takes care of your typical postal office needs. As a friendly reminder, we all know USPS has been under a lot of stress as The Postal Service is centralizing some of its functions, and some positions are on the chopping block. Recently, the USPS announced Workforce Attrition Measures which would accompany a reorg or a restructure so please, please, be kind to your postal office workers. I have never been too impressed with post offices. I've even worked at a post office, distributing center one time for about a month and I could see why they are miserable at their jobs. Those who are working since 1970s comparing to the current new employees, the work ethic is complete opposite. This location Though they like to close on time but opening on time is a whole different story. While the customers need them to be open on time, they take their time opening. I arrived here at 8:30 AM and their employee did not arrive until 8:40 AM. Customer service? You get better customer service at a McDonald's then you do it at the post office. They just want you to get in and get out with their ugly mentality and communication. I don't expect to be treated like royalty but at least I expect them to treat me ethically. Which is why I prefer doing things online nowadays because this kind of treatment I don't really expect any longer from post office. Employees. Unfortunately, this kind of customer service... Came to get my 2 years olds passport and scolded us for being a few minutes late and 2 grown woman scolded my child for ringing the bell on accident. Doesn't matter if you're early either cause the man next to us was told to come back at his exact appointment time. Even though post office is federal agency, this type of service is the worst i ever had. I lost package dropping off before since they dont care about your packages even if someone just come in and took some from the "convenient drop off location" by the door. I usually wait in line and asked them to scan my package so at least it show on tracking that I dropped it off. This Lady is just want to do the least, she refused to scan it and keep telling me to drop it in the bin. I tried explain to her that there no rule or guideline that not allow them to scan it and drop in the outgoing-bin behind the counter as i do it almost regularly. She just want to flex whatever authority she had and keep refusing to work ( scan in and printing receipt take 2 minutes top and we stand there arguing for 5) read more

What a lousy post office. This place has gone down over the years. Today I went in to deal with some mail and registration issues with my address. They wouldn't do anything and said to contact a supervisor, go to another office so I asked for a supervisor there. They said no supervisor was there. Give me a break. Recently I saw someone go in a few minutes late for a passport appointment and they said that they couldn't go because the person went out to lunch. Very rude and inconsiderate, incompetent people at this location. They can't do anything but ship a package or envelope. Everything else is too much and they make excuses or blame someone else. I avoid the post office in general, but this one is particularly bad. I try to pay everything online or by phone to avoid them. For anything important, I use ups or fedex. The local postal workers also regularly deliver to the wrong address. They deserve one star because they are good for delivering letters. Poorly run organization. read more

I have been coming to the Agnew USPS in Santa Clara for many years (maybe 10) and have nothing but, praise for the employees at this branch. I live closer to the Alviso branch but, they always scold me that I do not have the right zip code to use their branch. I mail every day or every other day and wait in line as I prefer to know that my packages are scanned before I walk away. I have watched many employees come and go throughout the years and have had a good rapport with all of them. I don't know how they do it as it takes a lot of patience and business aptitude to do that kind of job. The employees deal with many Nationalities and the language barrier has many complications. I watch as customers ask questions and I watch as the employees explain. I see so often that when the procedures are explained to the customer they do not want to do it that way and try to rephrase the procedures to make it fit there situation their way. They just don't get it. The employees are doing their job and they know their job and they have to repeat the scenario so many time in a days time. The procedure doesn't change. Customers have to learn if they want to use the Postal system they have to follow the guidelines. I see the employees with so much patience and have never seen them raise their voice at a customer unlike the customers that have had fits with little patience when dealing with the clerks. AM Passport appointment 4/5/24: There was one single Woman working when I arrived for my appointment. I was about 10 minutes early as the appointment process says to be. I approached to check in and she said i wont help you until your actual appointment. This is ok but the amount of attitude it was said was not necessary. I expressed that I had a couple of additional question regarding mailing wedding invitations that maybe she could help me with while we wait for the appointment. She said she will not "hand clear" (I am not sure on terminology) my envelope and that she does not have the time to help me. At this point I am the only customer in the post office. She told me that mine and everyone's who has a BC prior to a specific date is now invalid and i wont be able to complete my appointment anyways. At this point I called my carrier to comfrm as they gave me very specific directions on what to mail. I also paid for this already but the post office lady charged me an additional $220 to mail my items. She also put a hand written note into my package saying that my BC will not be valid. She said that when I end up having to cancel my trips se wants them to know that its not her problem and that's why she added the note. She proceeded to make several phone calls to what I assume are other employees or peers and also management to complain that she is the only attendant working. My appointment is not 15 minutes past and she refuses to help me. By this point other customers have started to arrive and asked for assistance mailing items and she loudly and rudely yelled that she cant help anyone and to just go to another location. She also suggested that we should call and complain and tell everyone that she is here working alone and cant help any of the customers. My appointment could have been done with before any one else arrived but she could not see past the fact that she had other peer that called out today. I also work in customer service and can relate to not having help each day. However this was extreme behavior and not acceptable. read more

I went to mail a pkg. The lady knew I was in line. A gentleman came in and wanted to pick up his mail. She told him the post office was down the street. Since nobody was in line after him, she could have given him the address. I offered to look up the address, I found it and wrote it down for him. I then proceeded to wait for her because she went to the back. I had to ring the bell several times. Their was another lady who had waited 45 plus to take a picture for her passport. would give this particular location negative stars if i could. usps delivered my package to the wrong address so i asked for a receipt when i came back and the miserable, lazy, & overworked lady refused to print one and said "her manager doesnt allow that". its literally her job but acts as if shes so inconvenienced by a simple task. save your time/energy/efforts and go to another location (which ive done since and receipts are printed without a question) since this lady cant handle her workload as is. read more

[Beware of the woman in the photo!] This post office is the one closest to my home, so I reluctantly have to go there. With the Covid-19 lock down, it's understandable that all essential workers stay cautious of customers, but the worker in the photo takes it too far. She treats me (an Asian woman) very differently compared to the other customers, and is very rude to me. I go to the post office often, and she always speaks rudely to me and always makes me stay away from her and slides me receipts with a stick, which she doesn't use with other customers. Today I asked her why she is the only rude worker at this location and she snapped, "Do not come then." I can't believe that a worker would treat a customer this way and if she really is afraid of catching Covid-19, I believe she should treat all customers the same way (ex. by passing them their receipts with a stick) but she only treats me this way. I saw her interaction with another customer (another Asian woman) and she treated them also very rudely. She was is a very bad worker and she should really not be working here. They deliver to my apartments addresses and we've had our mailboxes looted (not broken into but unlocked) multiple times. I walked into this post office to renew my passport, and since there was no obvious sign for appointments (which I had scheduled a month before), I asked the lady behind the counter where I should stand for people with appointments. She kindly told me so I waited, then all of a sudden, the clerk next to the one I just spoke to started talking loudly to a customer. The customer was kindly trying to explain his problem with his mail, but the clerk would not listen and kept interrupting him saying things like "I DONT UNDERSTAND" in a loud tone, that everyone in the office could hear. The man politely walked out after the woman kept ignoring and interrupting him. Just as I thought it was over, the next customer came up from the line and everything was going smoothly, but the customer pointed out that the prompt on the card machine was in Spanish, and he could not read it whatsoever, but the same lady that was berating the last man kept refusing to even help him and kept refusing to believe that the messages on the machine were all in Spanish. Went to post office at 10am on saturday. Asked the postal worker to mail package, she wanted me to make changes. So I stepped aside. Came back and stood in line, and the postal worker started serving someone who cut in line. After the customer was served while she was leaving, I told the customer to stand in line next time, and the Postal worker objected to it. And said she was serving me OUT_OF_LINE, even if there were people waiting. The remaining customers said that I was in line ahead of them. The postal worker was exposed in her discrimination, and wouldnt answer why she didnt want to serve people standing in line, and was picking out people she liked to serve first. She left the seat saying she didnt feel comfortable..and didnt serve for 2 hours after wards. I asked for supervisor and she went inside. I told her I could step aside and wait for supervisor while she serves the remaining 10 people, but she refused, because they had supported me,saying I was standing in line. She had Grudge against people who speak the truth. I asked her if the supervisor was coming , she said he was. So I waited., but infact she had called the cops after shouting at all of us for saying I was in line.She lied about supervisor visiting the facility. She is a dishonest person. She brought a video camera and started recording. Since the room was silent, she tried to create a new context to her fight. I asked her when she was videotaping, why she didnt serve people standing in line, after they told her I was in line. She tried to change topic and shouted on top of my voice . I told her she was shouting at us when we asked her why she wont serve. She immediatly shut her camera and left. Afterwards the cops showed up ( apparently she had called the cops lying that I was shouting, when she was the one shouting at all the customers when they supported that I was standing in line).and cop listened to what I said, told me that I should contact her supervisor about her behavior that I could go back in there and get served.. They didnt know why she wouldnt serve people standing in line, even though there is a sign that says " line starts here". This Postal worker is of Indian origin- sukhvir- and lies. Sukhvir has bad reviews from other customers since Jan this year. Customers dont feel comfortable getting videotaped and falsely accused and get cops called on, because the customers highlighted that I had infact followed the rules and sukhvir was wrong. There is NO SUPERVISOR for this location and this postal worker is really very very bad in her job.. Sukhvir needs to be fired for her bad job performance. The lady that works at the counter seems like she hates her job. Looks at customers like I she doesn't want to help you and talk to you like you know everything about their envelopes. I fell in line for 10 minutes and happened that I pick up the wrong envelop. Ahe had me get a different one like 3 ft away from the counter and she said "next in line". I lose my spot just like that? A small post office that has all that I need to get my packages sent quickly and safely. I came here around 10am on a weekday to drop off a small package with a prepaid label. The parking lot had a lot of spaces available. The counter clerk confirmed that there was no charge due and printed me a receipt with a tracking number on it. This US Post Office is very average. I only come here because it's the closest location to my house. I would not go out of my way to go to this location. There's a place for dropping off packages after hours but not all packages will fit into the drop off slot. There's a also a place to drop off regular letters and mail. The counter only has 4 registers, but I have never seen all of them open at the same time. I rarely see 3 registers open - most of the time I come here, there are only 1 or 2 registers open. A lot of the time 1 of the register is taken up by the passport department so a majority of the time that I come here there is only 1 open register helping customers that come in. The wait varies here a lot due to the various needs of the people that come in. I have waited only a couple minutes up to 20-30 minutes before. It just depends on how many people are in front of you and how fast their transaction is. Try to avoid lunch hours and right before the post office closes because those times tend to be the busiest. read more

Bumping my current rating up of this place by 2 stars because of one outstanding employee- ZAM! I came by with some questions yesterday regarding PO boxes and found his customer service to be extremely helpful. I had to stop by again today to ask another question and although the woman working the front was absolutely clueless, once I was able to talk to Zam, I was able to get all the information and help I needed. Thank you Lafayette USPS for FINALLY hiring someone like Zam. These last two interactions were hands down, the MOST pleasant interactions I've had at this post office to date. By far the worse customer services I ever had. We came in with a question about tracking a package that was sent more than 30 days ago. The cashier laughter and answered sarcastically "we can't". I explained that it is very important and asked if there was anyone else that could help me. Again with an attitude, she replied "No!" I don't know if it was us (the demographics of my family) or if she was mad about something else but she clearly wanted to argue and did not want to help. So we just left.
