The people here are the most unfriendliest people ever. You can say "Good morning!" or "thank you" and they'll just ignore it. BUT They do their job. Packages never have gone missing. I probably should have checked reviews before even entering this business. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. I was charging my car when I realized I had an amazon return so I googled and was so happy I could process my return while my car charged. When I walked in she looks up at my like I was bothering her even though no other customers were inside. She explained they don't accept returns with bar codes just labels. Thankfully I had a label to print. She was so reluctant that at some point I asked if she wanted to help me because she was giving signs of not wanting to help me or not wanting to be at work. I had just finished a 2hr workout and was in a great mood and spending 10mins with this woman shifted my moods. I decided i couldn't even trust her with my package and left. I have been using Rivermark Postal Annex's private mailbox for almost 2 years. I've never had any problems picking up my mail during business hours, and I like how easy it is to receive packages here and pick it up at my convenience. There have been a couple instances where my ticket was missing for a package (you get a slip in your mailbox when you have a package), but at least they found my package, the slip was just missing... I do get a lot of packages, so it's not a big deal to me if errors or mix-ups happen once in a while, as long as the problem is fixed. This happened almost a year ago, and they have new owners since late 2020. Postal Annex is a bit pricey, but I love the new owners, so that makes up for it. They are extremely friendly and helpful, and they leave little treats/gifts in your mailbox sometimes, like during the holidays. I also love the convenience of the location, same plaza as Safeway, Wells Fargo, and a good number of small businesses/eateries, so I can pick up mail while taking care of errands. I wish they had later hours (they close at 7pm on weekdays, 5pm on Saturdays), or that they were open on Sundays, to allow for more flexibility for people with busy schedules during the week (like me because I sometimes work on Saturdays). read more

Came to get my passport and driver's license notarized and got great service from everyone there. They patiently explained to me the differences between preparing the notarized docs for domestic versus international use and good thing they did because I would have assumed the same for both, but they explained that for international use, you'd need to have the notary stamp on the same page as the doc to avoid rejection. Very friendly service, immediate hello, will come back again for such services. read more

Yikes! I went to have something shipped. There were two workers, a very young (eager to help, albeit untrained) boy and a manager. The boy had to keep asking his manager what to do every time I asked a question while his manager handled some personal calls outside of the store on his cell phone. They sealed my envelope and then tried to charge me $50+ for shipping. Then I had to pay for the envelope even though I didn't want to have it shipped because the guy sealed it. THEN, he says, oh you need cash can you go to Safeway and take out some money? Uh, no. Save yourself some time and money! The people at the actual post office were much more friendly and helpful. Took half the time and only 1/4 of the money! read more

I wish yelp allowed me to give no stars at all!!! I needed passport photographs for some immigration related paperwork and got them done here since it was pretty close to my place. Simply put, these were the worst passport photographs ever. I could have taken better photos on my iPhone instead. The white board against which the photographs were taken is pretty old and not really white. The store does not have the lightning required for a photograph. They took the photograph in a corner (which is pretty dim due to the store setup) and printed it right away without even fixing the contrast. The result - terrible photos that you know right away would be rejected by any government agency. I explained to Iliaz(the guy who took the photos) that these photos were highly unacceptable for official paperwork and requested a refund. The guy refused to do so and responded to me in a very arrogant and rude manner. I am never stepping again into this store. My advice for anyone looking to get photographs done here - it's just not worth the pain these photographs might end up giving you. This location is to be avoided, with poor, repeatedly rancid service. No, I do not recommend this location, and will not patronize it for any purpose. It is sad, as other PostalAnnex locations are wonderful. This one location stands out as a sour lemon. Do *you* wish to patronize a firm that will not hold accountability for items left with an employee for shipment? This location has no accountability for outgoing shipments. There is no way to prove that a package left with them ever was deposited for delivery service. In the event an item disappears, a shipper has no recourse under these conditions. I have been a PostalAnnex customer for years. I discovered the Rivermark Village location of PostalAnnex following a recent relocation. Multiple other locations had several employees to assist customers, were very friendly, and always issued a receipt for outgoing shipments on request. The Rivermark Village location is a huge exception to that model. Customer service is very poor, typically with only one person on staff. The representative advised that their manager will not allow printing a receipt for outgoing shipments. Polite queries regarding the need for a receipt in order to maintain an audit trail, a good old fashion chain of custody, did not yield from this position. Note that each PostalAnnex is privately owned franchise location - vote with your money, spend it wisely, and choose the best vendor for the demonstrated value. read more

It's possible that this place does good business because of the location, but it severely lacks customer service. Those working here couldn't ignore customers more than they already do. It's still okay if you want to purchase stuff, but the last 2 times I went there to keep Amazon packages, the guy behind the counter purposefully didn't answer my question for a few mins and then answered it while I was leaving. Although quality of service may have reduced impact on straightforward transactions such as those made at your local postal annex, it has definitely proven to make many of my postal transactions inefficient. How? 1. They rarely tell customers the price of the various shipping methods (media mail, priority, express, fedex ground, etc) which translated to my shipping packages as media mail (slower and more expensive) rather than via priority mail (quicker and more economical). 2. They don't like to accept packages where customers have not paid for the shipping in the store. I had been going to the shop for my shipping needs for some time and finally decided to try usps.com and to print out my postage online. It worked like a charm and when I took it to this postal annex to be dropped off, the old guy behind the counter saw that the postage had already been paid for and made up some rule that he can't legally accept packages over a certain size. Oddly enough, the Mail Plus store on Benton Street accepted the package without complaints and even double-checked the weight to let me know that I had overestimated the weight and could save money by getting a scale if I shipped packages frequently enough. 3. They seem to charge more for media mail than other stores. While all other post offices and postal annexes I've been to charge no more than $3.49, this one has charged me as much as $4.79. I use the same boxes and ship approximately the same sized books, so this increased figure seems unfounded. If you need a quick mail and don't worry about service too much, this place can suffice, but if you're a frequent mailer, it's to your advantage to support the honest merchants. read more

This is the only Postal Annex I have ever gone to, and I would not go ever again. Here is the only reason why, the price. It costs roughly almost exactly 3x as much as an actual FedEx site would. I had three items shipped, two of which were to go cross country to the East Coast and one down to LA. The prices ranged from $28 (to LA) and $34 to the East Coast. I didn't think twice before I swiped my card because I've never actually shipped a big box, and was thinking it's normal. However, when I got back home, I decided to check how much it should really cost since the girl at the register stated that "the shipping rates are comparable to FedEx" even though this is sort of a middle man complex. I took her word as being an honest answer at that time, but had to find out as I'm a curious person on what it actually would be. I definitely got ripped off. I can't complain about the service like some of the other reviewers on Yelp. But, certainly the price I can. I'm still at awe that the same service would have a price that's so escalated just because this particular location doesn't say FedEx/Kinko's. Overall, do NOT go here unless the USPS office is closed and you have an emergency, or if you can't get to a FedEx/Kinko's that is open 24 hrs. It is completely unreasonable for them to charge 3x as much when it's not even their truck that delivers to the closest postal carrier to be redistributed! read more

Went into this place today to buy stamps. Nowhere on the wall are the stamp prices posted. I asked for 30 domestic and 4 international stamps, and found out AFTER I GOT THE RECEIPT that they charge a .13 fee for each stamp and .85 for international stamps. This is not a lot of money until you buy in bulk, and then the 24% markup starts to take a bite. When I saw the receipt, I asked the counter girl for a refund and she refused. Then the guy who works there started barking this strange argument about how 7-11 charges a markup because they, too, are a franchise. I kept responding "I am not in 7-11, and 7-11 posts their prices". He then said that it was my fault for not asking how much a 49-cent stamp cost (!) and was even stupid enough to say that the reason they do not post their postage prices is because (and I quote): "If people saw that, they wouldn't buy stamps here." This place is a rip-off, and worse, they are dishonest and actually get belligerent when customers point out that they got ripped off. I asked for the owner's name and was given a card with a number to the store and told that "the owner will not be in until Monday". Really? So the angry kids defend the crooked business while the owner takes the week off? Nice. I was scammed out of $8 and to add insult to injury, was treated rudely by the clerks. I seriously doubt the owner cares or will do anything about this...based on all the other poor reviews here. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in the hopes that these petty crooks get fined. read more

Came into this store this afternoon, was IGNORED by (manager/owner?) the Indian man (bald head w/mustache) standing by the counter. I had some UPS packages to drop off (as I have done MANY times before here) , after being ignored I grabbed the tape and asked for some pouches for the labels. He then YELLED AT ME "I AM BUSY, STEP BACK!" and proceeded to ignore me. When he saw I was taping up my boxes, he said, READ THE SIGN and turned his head to shun me. I finished taping my boxes and handed back the tape and he said very abruptly "I am going to have to ring you up, 6 DOLLARS for your packages" , HE WANTED TO CHARGE ME 6 DOLLARS FOR A FEW BOXES I TAPED UP WHEN HE WOULDN'T EVEN HELP ME. He then continued to shout at me and being very disrespectful, continually insult me and my intelligence as to his "policies" until I ultimately just left. I really fell sorry for the employees and customers of this location. To deal with someone like that who treats people the way he does, he should be ashamed of being a business owner. Honestly, I am surprised this business is still open with him as a manager. Clearly yelp and it's yelpers agree with me. Save your time/money and hardships, do not go here. This place is great! I have done business with them for 7 years now and they do it all. I have a PO box, mail packages, send packages, and notarized. They send me my mail wherever I am at if I call and ask them to. This place is a true gem and the owner works his butt off to make it the best. You are always going to have some small issues no matter what you do or go but this place minimizes it for sure. I wasn't impressed. Went to mail an important letter via UPS and he indicated that FedEx was cheaper. I said I didn't trust anyone but UPS and he relucantly pulled out a form for me to fill out and left me to it. I didn't feel comfortable leaving this very important letter to them so I went to a local UPS Store and got much better service. I read Daisy's review before I went here and I thought it was probably a one off thing. Anyways this was the closest to my apartment community, so I decided to take a chance. I mean how can someone screw up a passport photo. I mean literally its just a freaking photo - Click, Check and Print. But no, this place has found a way to screw even a simple photo. I took my passport photos from here for a Government application. The photo had more of my left part of my face showing up than my right part. The guy printed the photo even without showing me the way most of the professional photographers do. I didn't give much thought but I realized it later that this was probably going to get rejected and no way was I going to take that chance. I called the owner in the evening and without looking at the photo, said it was all perfect. I told him I will stop by the day after.The next afternoon, the owner is not present and the employee says he cannot help me since the owner is gone. He looks at the photo and asks me to stop by again. He did not empathize with me but instead repeats the same thing. Here is my major problem, either the employees are either not paid enough or empowered enough to satisfy customers. If the same kind of thing would happen in Starbucks, they would get me a new drink even if it was my mistake, which in this case is theirs. I mean if someone comes to them saying they are not happy with the photo, how much time and dollars are they going to spend to print a new pair of photos that will satisfy the customer. But they are OK with a bad yelp review than to delight the customer. I let go of 13 dollars, went to a professional photographer 5 miles away but was very happy with the new photos. Never used their notary, but at 10 dollars it is double the price of many other Notaries in Bay Area. If anyone charges more than 5 bucks, they are clearly looting the customer due to its location. I was just there to drop off a DHL international shipment and the gentleman working wouldn't take my shipment because the archive document shipping label was not included. I had to drive all the way back to work to print it out. Wasted my time driving back and forth for no reason. The archive document is meant for the customer's copy. Nonetheless, I ended up printing the archive document shipping label to fulfill the request. On the archive document, it clearly states NOT TO BE ATTACHED TO PACKAGE. The gentleman still requested the archive document to be attached. After leaving, I got on the phone with DHL customer service ,1 (800) 225-5345, and they also verified that the archive document is the customer's copy of the shipping label. read more

A super bad place if you are thinking to go for photos here. When I showed the dimensions to the person , he said 'We have clicked 1000's'.The owner of the store clicked photos for me , didn't even show me before printing them . There was a new guy at the store who handed over the photos as it is without cutting them . When I checked the photos were not as per standard . looked like it was clicked at an angle with my head tilted . I asked the guy to cut the photo for me , and he said he knew nothing about it . Finally the owner did it . Later , I showed the photos at my school before sending it to immigration dept, they said the photos won't be accepted . I called the owner to tell him about it , and he said 'Get them back if they are rejected' . I was shocked , who would want the things to be rejected at first place . I told him I would stop by the next day to show him the photos . When i went there the next day there were some other guys , they said the owner is in the store only until 1 pm. Shouldn't have he informed me when I called him . It's so disgusting . The guy at the store was VERY VERY RUDE . They DON'T CARE about CUSTOMER SERVICE at all . They charge you before they will hand the photos to you and if they don't turn out to be good , it's your problem. I wish you give them NEGATIVE STARS if that was an option in YELP.
