I want to begin with Diana, because she deserves to be recognized for exactly the kind of service the United States Postal Service should want representing it. I am giving this experience one star, and I want to be very clear why: Diana personally deserves five stars. Unfortunately, Don's conduct was serious enough that I cannot honestly rate the overall experience any higher. I do not normally use the Rancho Del Oro Post Office. My neighborhood Post Office is on Seagaze in Oceanside, where Michelle has helped me for years. Michelle is professional, kind, helpful, and makes dealing with the Post Office feel like dealing with someone who actually cares about the community. Diana gave me that exact same impression immediately. I came to Rancho Del Oro only to process a passport application and did not realize an appointment was required. Diana was patient, kind, professional, and genuinely helpful. She explained the process and scheduled me for 11:30 the following day. When I returned, I watched her treat customer after customer with the same smile, patience, and respect she had shown me. Then I dealt with Don, the passport processing employee. Don is an older gentleman with a very long gray ponytail, a dingy hat, and an extremely strong cigarette-smoke odor. In the small passport office, the odor was overwhelming enough to make sitting there genuinely uncomfortable. When Don discovered Diana had scheduled my appointment, he came out in front of customers and loudly reprimanded her, saying passport appointments were booked about a month out and that I would either need to reschedule or wait for a no-show. There was no other passport customer there at the time. Diana then went into his adjoining office to try to resolve the situation privately. Don began yelling at her again -- loudly enough that customers throughout the Post Office could hear him. I cannot stress enough how demeaning, embarrassing, and appalling this was to witness. I felt genuinely terrible for Diana. No employee should be screamed at, berated, or humiliated in front of coworkers and customers for simply trying to help someone. What struck me most was how comfortable Don appeared behaving this way. I do not know his tenure or seniority, but he gave me the distinct impression of someone who feels secure enough in his position to speak to coworkers and customers however he chooses. No amount of seniority should ever excuse intimidation, humiliation, or contempt. His attitude toward the passport process was also unnecessarily hostile and condescending. Instead of calmly helping with possible application errors, his manner felt reprimanding and made a routine federal service tense and uncomfortable. I remained respectful because he controlled whether my passport application would be processed, and I did not want challenging his behavior to jeopardize my appointment. That alone says a great deal. Through all of this, Diana remained composed, professional, and remarkably gracious. Before leaving, I went back to her and apologized that she had been treated that way while trying to help me. She smiled and simply said, "It's okay. Don't worry." After what I had just witnessed, she was still reassuring me. That is professionalism. That is kindness. That is dignity. Diana and Michelle are the type of people USPS should want representing its communities. Don was the complete opposite. The yelling, hostility, condescending manner, poor presentation, and overwhelming cigarette odor have no place in a small public-facing passport office. I sincerely hope the Postmaster and USPS supervisors investigate this incident, speak privately with the employees who work alongside Don, and determine whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger pattern. Diana deserves five stars and recognition. This experience receives one star because Don's behavior deserves accountability. read more

The cashier was very friendly and efficient Didn't push me to get the priority mail postage and offered ground and half the price only a 2 day shipping difference and there's no rush to get the package delivered. Very nice service here from all employees I've had here. Long lines but they help you quickly. read more

Extremely friendly and helpful people inside this post office. Even the customers who were there that day were so kind to me. Something you don't see every day in a post office. There were three postmasters manning the windows. When I arrived late afternoon around 4:00pm, there were only 6 other people in line. My transaction went fast. I was in and out of there within 20 minutes. This post office has many P.O. Boxes for rental. They also have the same number of amenities as all post offices have. This review is solely about the passport clerk. He was rude, unfriendly, and unapproachable, with no regard for basic customer service. The office reeked of cigarette smoke, which was unacceptable, particularly with small children in the room. Marlboro cigarettes in his jacket pocket. Someone displaying this attitude should not be assigned to interact with customers. Maybe he should retire. read more

Paid to file change of address. 22 days later and not 1 piece of mail was forwarded. It's a temporary forward, went to our previous address and there is our mail. Spoke with supervisor twice. Carrier still delivering to previous address. Ended up going to the post office to speak with supervisor. Found mail in previous homes mailbox...AGAIN! It's not hard for a carrier to forward mail. They put it with the rest of the mail that gets forwarded for that zip code. Sound hard? read more

I drove over to my local Oceanside Post Office because I needed to forward over my mail from my parent's home address over to a Post Office Box Address since my parents house is going to be listed for sale very soon. I recently moved out to live with a roommate in a condo somewhere in Oceanside, CA. But I made the decision to rent out a monthly Post Office Box until my home address becomes a permanent residence. Everything is very new to me now. The first time I stood in line waiting to receive a (4 page form ) to fill out on the procedure for a Post Office Rental Application. There is a strict requirement for everyone who wants to rent out a monthly Post Office Box at the Oceanside Post Office. I thought it would be an easy process but I learned that it's not that way at all. It's a very strict process and I need to follow their post office rules. read more

I was in Oceanside a couple of days ago and used some in between time to ship a package. The lines were huge, although it was not the usual rush hour and there were 3 employees helping customers. It was more wait that I am used to but then the gentleman that took care of my shipment was super nice and apologized for the delay (not his fault, probably lack of enough people). read more

They fail on so many different areas. Leaving the wrong mail in my box, leaving my mail in neighbors boxes. Almost every time Amazon send something USPS it gets lost, every time I've talked to them repeatedly. They don't seem to care, probably don't have the capacity to care. They're worse than on track. Service for stamps and ship priority mail and it was awesome, friendly, and the prices are affordable for the typical post office, the usual waiting line not too bad. I mostly drop and run since I print labels at home... This location is always clean and they keep the free shipping supplies well stocked. When I have needed help, all of the employees I've interacted with have been friendly and helpful. There is always plenty of parking available and the lot is easy to get in and out of. read more

DO NOT GO here for PASSPORTS! Save your time and drive to another city because it will be fast and more pleasant. I also wish I would have read the reviews before going. We were 5 min late to our appointment and when we arrived they said are you here for an appointment and we told them the deal and they said ok hold on, 4 employees walked around stocking accessories and playing on the register and 5 min later the guys who was walking back and forth in front of us while we waited said that we were too late for our appointment and we missed our turn and to reschedule. We were the only ones in there and there was no more appointments after us until 1:45! He could have easily been nice for 1 thing and then also take 10 min to help us out. We decided to drive to San Clemente to go get my son's passport and the employees were so much nicer! read more

I went to renew my passport at this location. I made an appointment and could not believe how terrible the service was. The clerk with the grey hair and ponytail was receiving the customers in line. He was visibly frustrated toward me when I arrived at my appointment time, there were many people waiting in the walk in line. When he approached me, he only and first pointed out loudly a minor correction in my completed paperwork as though he was trying to make his authority known, coming off to be intimidating so that he could have the upper hand when dealing with me and others waiting. During the process he then abruptly took my picture without any warning and then proceeded to ask a co-worker if my eyes were open enough. I could have not opened them anymore without an exaggerated expression to do so. It seemed to be a racist off handed comment. It was only when I took a picture of the customer service QR Code toward the end of the process that he tried to be cordial. Otherwise he did not provide any professional courtesies throughout the process. It's really hard to believe that this type of service exists at the expense of the taxpayer. read more

Only issue I've had was a surprise cancellation of all passport appointments for December 2023 which was a bummer. Not the end of the world though. read more

I've been to this post office a handful of times. I like the large size, usually plenty of parking, and the availability of kiosks so you don't have to wait in line. The thing that really shot this place down the most was the "Passport Fair." It is the most u organized god awful experience to endure when you have very young children. I don't know how they make people with disabilities and young people wait as long as we did. We waited FOUR HOURS... and when my daughter started to have a meltdown close to the four hour mark, no one really seemed to care. We didn't get expedited, we didn't get help, nothing. Not one person cared. I had to nurse my daughter, bare breast and all, while standing. When we finally got moved up to the front, the guy tells me I wasn't supposed to fill in name/DL info for us, and that the handwriting would be different and that the passport agency might reject the application. So I had to re-do the first page while breastfeeding my daughter, standing on my tippy toes and trying not to cry. And no, my husband could not fill out the form because god forbid the other half of the form would be in a different handwriting. I really wanted to cry and have a meltdown myself. Not only that but I prewrote one check for the amount of her passport. I had to rewrite two checks one for the post office paperwork fee and the other to the passport agency! Again, all while trying to hold my very cranky, upset, nursing baby!!! There was no empathy from the postal worker. Had they told me when we first got our tickets, when they allegedly visually scanned our form, I could have redone the application. Well, that's one of the reasons why it took so long to get through the line... they were having people make corrections while at the front of the line. There was a postal worker supposedly going through applications at the front of the line... so so so wrong. There really needs to be a better system. We were number 71 and waited 4 hours. The postal worker who assigned us our ticket said the wait would be an hour to an hour and a half, which is why we stayed. I had an expired renewal and the postal man told me to use the kiosk and mail it in with my check. He said renewals could not be processed there PERIOD. Very rude! He did not even glance at my application and check... he simply handed me the paper that had the fees, none of which said that I didn't have to pay the $35 application fee. So I wrote a check for the wrong amount and put it in the mail. I don't even know if my application will be processed or rejected... so thanks to him, my application will be more lost money in paying $10 to get it mailed again, plus the additional time it will take to get. Also, my husbands passport was lost and again, they didn't look at his birth certificate until we got to the front of the line. They then told us they could not accept the birth certificate abstract even though it was certified. Again, had we known all this beforehand, we would have left. My advise- make an appointment for a passport. The passport fairs are far worse than any DMV line I've been in. read more

This is strictly off passport office only...this is my 2nd time doing a walk-in. I normally don't mind waiting so I've walked in for my kids' passports. The man working in the office (elderly with grey hair, I think his name is Don) has the worst attitude. Several people are patiently waiting in line and it almost seems intentional that he makes everyone wait. Not sure why I came back, but it was a convenient location to home. Several friends say that the surrounding offices are speedy and take walk-ins in between each appt. They need someone that is more technology savvy and knows how to work efficient in this type of department. At the minimum, someone that has good customer service. DO NOT come to this location for a passport walk in. Not even sure why they advertise them to take walk-ins. Someone came out to help a walk-in once, then never came back for the others. He stood in the back and shuffled papers around acting like he was busy. read more

I had a super stressful passport emergency! Usually, it's really hard to get in for a passport appointment, especially now during COVID. But the gentlemen who helped me were very kind, informative, and the knew what they were talking about. I didn't have an appointment, I just needed to come in to ask some questions, and they kindly just set me up for an appointment later that day for a passport renewal! Tracking says they tried to deliver and left written notification. I was home waiting for them. They left no notification nor did they knock, ring the doorbell or anything else. Video surveillance on two seperate cameras one at door view and one at street view, shows no activity from the postal (lack of) service from fifteen minutes before until fifteen minutes after the supposed attempted delivery time. read more

They lost one package with my proof of delivery to them from a third-party carrier. Denied they received it despite my proof from FedEx. Then, they lost an Amazon parcel for one month after I insisted it was delivered 3x in person. A worker happened a month later to stick in a parcel locker. Don't expect their parcel locker boxes keys to work in the locks either, they're so old and worn after you get a key that doesn't work (happened 3x to me) you go to the window up front and wait in line feeling you've been ripped for the service charges you pay having a PO Box for address delivery from 3rd party carriers. The supervisor insisted FedEx just drops their tracking # parcels into a big box and leaves 'em. Then, the PO people don't know what's what if you loose one. Great work...thanks! read more

Never answers phone!! I work during business hours so I'm unable to talk personally over my package being delivered to the wrong apartment mailbox. Been trying to contact and nothing. I got a better response from the 1800 number. The other usps near the beach is soo much better at locating and helping find missing mail. This was birthday presents sent by a friend and all I'm trying to do is call to say not to cancel the search since even though it shows as delivered it was NOT delivered to the correct place and the worker on the 1800 number confirmed the address on the label was correct but believes it was put in the wrong mailbox read more
