Door closed at 4:57 pm. Double click to see time stamp.

Today on Monday, June 2, 2025, I arrived in the parking lot of the post office at 4:55 pm and walked into the lobby only to find that the door to the counter was locked. There was an employee inside who refused to unlock the door and told me to drop my package off to the side (I'm not sure how she would know what kind of service I needed). Regardless, she refused to open the door and had no explanation as to why she closed up early. When I demanded she open the door, she started making sounds "wah wah wah" and whining noises. Another woman came in and couldn't believe the behavior she was witnessing or the fact that the post office was closed before 5:00. I took photos of the closed lobby and the employee which clearly shows the time of the incident.

Nice ladies working up front as always, plenty of parking, clean, fast. Haven't tried to get a passport here like many of the worse reviews on here but tbh that has never been a pleasant experience no matter where I've had it done.

Sure looks like it was intentionally ripped open!

USPS has done it again! Received a package today from a friend, but it quite obviously been ripped open, this is beyond a little tear. There is a ton of stuff missing out of the box, as if somebody dug through it and took things out. Since it was only insured for $100, which way exceeds all the items that magically came up missing during transit. We are not going to bother with an insurance claim, because we know it'll be a big hassle and they most likely won't do anything. Take a look at the picture, how in the world is it acceptable? I sincerely cannot believe that my mail person dropped this off at my door with a giant hole in it. This is all completely unacceptable, but it does no good to complain to the post office, because they sincerely do not care!

Sometimes I have no idea whether the mail person is actually making an effort to make deliveries. I received my mail, but did not receive my package. My tracking status says, "No Access to Delivery Location" even though my apartment is in the same hallway where the mailboxes are. How can you get inside the building to deliver mail, but then claim you have no access to my apartment even though it's 200 ft away from the mailboxes? This is not the first time this has happened either. Another past package once listed it had been delivered, even though it wasn't. Two days later, it was delivered to my mailbox... Not sure what is happening, but it would be nice if USPS could accurately describe how they were delivering packages.

    The "package" in question.

The Alhambra branch has good hours, the lines aren't terrible, the people at the counter are friendly enough, and parking is passable. However, I received a slip saying that $4.20 was due for a "package". The "package" in question was a small bubble mailer, 6" x 4 1/4" that weighed 1/4 of an ounce, when holding it's contents, a tiny pack of seeds. It already had a Nonmachinable surcharge stamp on it. The lady at the counter said it was a package because it had 'things in it'. Yes, that's the point of the mail service. They wasted my time to incompetently overcharge me.

The line grew as we all waited while a woman was expressing her discontent about not receiving her mail to Gigi. Gigi was supremely polite and incredibly patient as she explained to the woman in multiple ways (because the woman was just not understanding and continued to be upset ) that she could not do more than she already did (by taking the woman's name and phone number to give to the supervisor of the mail carriers) And that all the supervisors were gone for the day. Then, when the woman left and it was finally my turn, Gigi helped me understand the most economical way to send my gifts. She is just awesome and if I lived closer, I would go to this post office more often because of her!

Customer service was not handled with care or respect, and simple questions were met with irritation instead of assistance. The lack of courtesy and efficiency made the entire experience unpleasant. This location seriously needs improvement in both professionalism and customer service standards. She was honest about walk-ins for passport. Acknowledged me not sure if the gentlemen can help me at the moment. She stepped away to ask him. Got the gentlemen for me to assist with my passport. Before anything else, Monica had me fill out a form to complete. As I was done, I waited in line but Monica was busy. Lady by the name Marvese came out, looked right at me, did not say anything or smile and then looked away. I was really upset because why be there with your RBF face and not be of service to the people that need things to be done? That's a shame, whether she's a manager or not, please check on her because ain't nobody deserve to be treated in that manner. So I let the dude behind me to go to her because she clearly did not want to help me. When Monica was free she directed me the right person to help with my passport. I gave my form to the gentleman. Unfortunately don't know his name for there was no name tag but he was very helpful and I'm grateful and thankful for that. I got all the answers to my questions to move forward with processing my passport. He also told me that they accept walk ins as long as u come in between 9am to 10am on Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri. Once again thank u to Monica and the gentleman that helped me with my passport. Marvese check yourself before you reck yourself! Nobody needs your low vibration. Yes but the workers are efficient so the line moves. Are the workers super friendly all the time? No but I still get a "hi" and a smile and I've never experienced any flat out rudeness or overtly bad customer service like I have at other locations. I've sent packages across the country and even internationally and they were able to help me with decent efficiency. I even made a passport appointment for my toddler a year ago and the employee was super patient with us dealing with a toddler and getting photos. And they were very on time with the appointment I scheduled. So honestly I don't have any complaints. I've been to other local post offices where I've experienced flat out rudeness or blatantly bad customer service but never at this Walnut Creek location. It's the one I go to if I happened to go to another location where workers flat out didn't want to help me. This is a post office that has workers that know how to do their job.

What wasn't fair was how everything else was handled. I was quoted $23 for a box, which I later found out included Styrofoam packing and "labor." When I said I'd just pack it myself, the employee asked if I brought tape. When I said no, he told me they charge $2.99 just to use their tape. Meanwhile, the employee next to him was taping up boxes for other customers for free, which made the whole situation even more confusing and frustrating. I asked for the cheapest shipping option to New Jersey and was told it would be $40. I double-checked multiple times to see if there was anything cheaper and was told no. At that point, I was looking at nearly $70 total just to ship a small package, which didn't sit right with me. I decided to walk out and come back another time with my own box. The next day, I went to a different UPS Store and got a box and shipped the same package for just under $30. less than half of what I was quoted here. This place felt like it was full of upsells and unnecessary add-ons, especially from the older gentleman who was helping me. I'd strongly recommend double-checking every charge if you end up here. I'll be honest, I already knew this location had a reputation for long lines and poor customer service, but I was in a pinch. Lesson learned. There are much better UPS Stores out there. I will NEVER come back to this location.
