I just moved to the area and have been here multiple times. This place is like stepping back into the 60's - nothing has been updated since then. It's a mess. Run down, old. No electronic machines to buy stamps or mail packages. One postal worker at (almost) all times. The worst part is that we went on vacation and put a hold on our mail, and then never received our held mail. They were supposed to put it in my mailbox at the end or deliver to my door (since we have a small neighborhood box). I went into the office and they couldn't find anything. They lost our week's worth of mail (including a paycheck) and I'm having to have the USPS investigate. So disaspointing! I've also been in here several times and they only have 1 worker at all times. If you only have 1 worker, at least have a machine available! read more

I have to wonder what the qualification is to work at this post office horrible would rather travel across town if i had to visit post office read more

I got here close to closing time with a partly ready package. She helped streamline our visit without inconveniencing me (pay now, then go address it and then pop it over there) and offered a couple other helpful tips . Solid good attitude. The guy next to her was being kind and helpful to his customers as well. Aside from long lines I rarely have issues here and today they were going above and beyond. read more

After 20 rings someone answered the phone. I asked him if something was in their lost and found. He said he would check and put me on hold. After 25 minutes of waiting I finally hung up. Very frustrating. read more

This is two separate reviews.... 1. Our mail person SUCKS at my place of business. He's chronically horrible and I personally have had to redeliver mail he delivered incorrectly on many Occassions and have in the past made complaints about his either marking packages delivered and not delivering until 3-4 days after, putting vacation holds on our mail without us even knowing about it etc.... He's horrible. He is the kind of employee who you dread being assigned to your business. He's a -10 on the Yelp scale. This brings me to the 5 Stars.... On 1/4/2017 my husband's pharmacy overnights URGENT PTSD and stomach medications to us because the new year brought insurance changes. (Literally my husband had stomach surgery this morning for the issue that he takes one of the medicines for...medications that keep my husband alive and functioning.) We kept waiting. The pharmacy said there was a notice on 1-7 left....there wasn't. Said there was one left 1/9 left and there wasn't...and then on 1/10 stated they delivered it. They didn't. I begged and pleaded for the pharmacy to please reissue to a retail pharmacy so that my husband didn't end up requiring hospitalization for his PTSD. They were of course under the impression of "delivered"....but I had access luckily to our business security cameras footage which disputed all of this. After a million hours playing with the phone tree and an email....I get through to the Martinez Post Office and get Mr. Harris. Mr. Harris...I can't say enough. I told him the situation and that I had video proof that disputes all of their notice and delivery times and he was able to verify delivery location with their internal process. He said he would call me back...because in fact it was true that our mailman never delivered the medications to the address on the package. 5 hours later at 6:52pm....he called. With my husband's urgent medications in his hand. This man...literally went out of his way a million times over to make things possible. To keep my husband out of the hospital. I can only imagine what he had to do to find that package that had been delivered somewhere days prior...but he made it happen. We cannot thank him enough. My husband is the world to me. Mr. Harris is our HERO! read more

On 12/22 we received several notices as to why my package would not be delivered on time. Again, Yolanda and this branch were completely dishonest. 1. There was and is no barrier to deliver our package; 2. There are no animals which would be blocking delivery. This branch is a joke. read more

US Post Office - Yolanda and this branch are a joke.12/22 we received the above notices as to why my package had not been delivered on time. Both untrue - Post Offices Near Me - Martinez, California

Lazy employees, when asked will refuse to check in the back for your package and give an excuse to come back the next day. No smile, no greeting very unfriendly and bad customer service. The only place on par with the experience is DMV read more

Was going for 1 star but had to give it 2, considering how understaffed the office was. (long line and 2 employees in the WHOLE building) So I would give it 2 for the fact it was understaffed, *not the employees fault that was there, but only 1 star for the fact the clerk gave wrong info, that I knew was wrong. I ship on ebay all the time, you print out your own packing label with postage, its paid for...PERIOD. You drop it off. Does not matter if you wait 2, 3 or even 100 days, it only goes into the system when they scan it. She told me they couldnt take the package because the paypal shipping label was printed on sunday, and it was tuesday....WRONG. NOT TRUE. So rather than argue, since I knew she was wrong, and they were understaffed with a line, I had to go to Concord Post office anyway. Took it there no problem. Maybe because of federal sequester, who knows..but it is a work slowage and understaffed with ill informed employees... read more

Incompetent and lazy! Poor customer service all in all! I dread going here but since it is so close by, I always do out of convenience. But today was the last straw, I will never go back here!! Made an appointment to apply for passports for my children and prepared all the required documentation based on the instructions stated in the DS-11 form. Got turned away because I didn't make copies of my kids' birth certificates. I told the lady (who clearly didn't want to help) that the instructions didn't state that and it clearly says to make copies of the parents' identification. I tried showing her the instructions I followed and of course she didn't look at it. I understand if we're missing a bunch of stuff but we had everything with us. We had the kids' original birth certificates but I guess they didn't have a copy machine. Anyway, what a waste of time! read more

Below zero stars rating. Worst customer service ever. Very unprofessional, most uncorteous and rude staff. if you want to ruin your day, come to this post office and you will dread coming back. The management of this branch should at least listen to customers feesback and retrain the front desk staff, or move them to non-customer service roles. Maybe, maybe Martinez residents can have same old customer service we all love from years past. read more

LAZY! Attempted to apply for passports for our children and was turned away and told to reschedule because we didn't bring a copy of their birth certificates. How long does it take to press a button to copy? In addition, the instructions on the form does not states to bring a copy of the birth certificate/s. So Beware, What a joke! read more

Do not go to this post office! Horrible service! No one wants to work, it feels like they are forced to help. If i can give negative star, I will. read more

Was able to take care of business during the lunch hour and only had to wait through two customers ahead of me. Plenty of available parking. While the staff person didn't try to be my new best friend, she was efficient and civil. She offered tape so I could seal my envelope and suggested that I not lick it, which I appreciated. Nice tip: you can get a passport photo taken here as well as submit your application request. read more

This post office is a nightmare! Despite an appointment, we were not served and could not turn in our passport applications. My husband is in a wheelchair and was in severe pain. After 1.5 hours we had to leave the post office without being served. The person behind the counter (Raeanna W.) is extremely rude. That was harassment! read more

New customers beware !!! I've had a mail box here for many years. In the last year there have been repeated mailbox break-ins. I reported to Postmaster, and Customer Service only to see NO action. The break-ins continue. Postmaster not acting on the issue of vandalism, and homeless people sleeping in the lobby. Contrary I notice Post Office staff encouraging homeless activity in the lobby, and even giving them coffee in the morning. STAY AWAY, you'll be happy you did. read more

I called the office about getting a passport and asked specifically what I would need to bring. When I arrived I was told I needed to personally copy everything on my own. I had no problem with this except for the woman behind the counter was extremely rude about telling me this information. I copy everything and return.. then I'm told because I have an out of state ID that I need two forms of ID copied. She kept telling me if I don't like it this way that "I should go back to where I'm from." I'm from California and just got out of the military so I have an out of state ID. In summary I have come here twice now and was helped by two different woman. Both of which were very rude and not in the least bit helpful read more

It's tough to find anything NEW to add here... I mean, the other reviews have pretty much summed up ALLLL of the problems within this location rather thoroughly & extremely accurately. I've experienced many of the same things other reviewers have mentioned: --lost mail or missing for weeks; sometimes arrives A MONTH after the post mark date. --"missed" deliveries, depsite being home all day. --mailbox break-ins using THEIR master key (and they chose NOT to notify the public that one of their keys had been stolen?! Nice). --got a PO Box to avoid mail theft, but they can't seem to FORWARD our mail to it despite completing the process more than once (both online & in person). --being unable to pickup my mail-hold items because my License had my old address (yet I had no problem applying the hold). --receiving no mail at all for weeks. --receiving neighbor's mail; sometimes even addresses 2 blocks away on an entirely different street! (I wonder if they ever get mine? They've never returned it if they have.) --inefficient, oftem rude service at the counter. --not staying open during the hours posted (at least not their passport services). --charging for a piece of tape!! Yes, for real. I could probably sit here & think of more, but why... I'm sure y'all get the point. read more

I started calling at 9am to track a package that says it was delivered after 8pm to a business that closes at 5pm. Still calling at 11am. The first 2 calls received a busy tone and after that just rings. Never answered once. Called 800 number and waited 30 minutes for call back. Could hardly understand caller but I did my best. She couldn't verify where the package is. All they can do is send a message to the Martinez office. Let's see if that works or I'll have to show up and wait in line. read more

Can someone pick up the phone!?!? I've been calling nonstop for the past 30 minutes!!

If I could give this location a zero stars I would. I brought in a package that I was going to ship internationally. Without measuring it or weighing it. The two ladies working told me that they can't ship it out, that it's more than 108 inches. I took it else where, they measured it and it was only 68 inches. I can agree that they are lazy and have really bad customer service. I do not recommend this location to anyone. read more

I am usually a rare person that loves the post office, but today I left disappointed and frustrated. I came up to the counter and asked if the shipping was correct and if it wasn't could I pay the difference. I was greeted with "you make it so much work for us when you don't figure it out correctly." When I explained that I couldn't find the correct description for the priority box I was using so I could price it correctly she said "well I can't help you." She was one of the rudest people I've ever encountered at the post office. You're better than this USPS. read more

This post office is mind numbingly ineffective. I have tried sending countless letters and thank you cards to both my friends and those who have granted me scholarships, however, this post office is so gratuitously inept and physically incapable of carrying out their literal jobs. Not only were some of my letters lost and left undelivered, but I have been returned my letters for nonsensical reasonings (apparently I wrote the delivery address too small but I wrote them all the same way and half of the were delivered and the other half were returned to me despite the fact I have neat and legible handwriting). The amount of time I have spent trying to get simple letters delivered I might as well have driven to each of my friend's houses and hand delivered them myself. If you want to actually have your mail delivered I recommend going somewhere else. read more

i do not have the option for zero of negative star so i opted for 1 star. they have the worst customer service and mailman. i have been tracking my package and it arrived at the Martinez CA facility last Sept 14.on sept 15 at 9:59 am the status said it is out for delivery. i waited and nothing came. at 11:59 pm of the same day the status changed to delivery status not updated. reading on the reviews of this post office makes me feel worried about my package. yesterday the status update at 8:42 pm was notice left but no one in our house had or seen the notice. now, it made me realized that the reviews are true and the people working at Martinez CA post office are INEFFICIENT. !!!! I have had mail delivery issues since 12/2018. My son moved and did a forwarded on the his address. They sent ALL the mail to him instead of just his family. So first week of Feb 2019 I went in was passed off to a shorter heavier black lady. She was nice and explained that the address change had been made for "family" not individual. She had me fill out an address correction from my sons new address back to mine as an individual. Still had mail issues. My son went into his local Post office and complete an individual address change form for each of his family members. Even with those two corrections my mail was still forwarded to ,my son. I went in the post office again in April 2018 dealt with Linda the Indian lady. She was so RUDE!!!,,,said she could not help me and to fill out an address correction. I said I had already done that and so had my son. She got loud and her accent became strong that I could not understand her. So I left.I went into the post office 2 more times and also spoke to 3 mail carriers while at my house,,,,,got a hand written note on a yellow post office paper in my mailbox twice that the error had been corrected. Which was not the case. I got mail sporadically and still got some of my sons mail. Went in 12/21/2019 worked with Denise. Mailed a package. And, told her my issue of not receiving mail the last 12 months. She tried to pass me along because she needed to help the customers...I said I was a customer./...she was already rude before I got to her counter and she continued to be rude after I left. then a chinese lady came to the counter I was at and I then told her the same information as I had told Denise. She said I needed to speak to a supervisor,,,I said the supervisor was helping everyone that came after me. And i need this resolved. I was then stopped by another customer about how rude Denise and the supervisor were....and we agreed these people must hate the job they have to treat people so crappy. And then the supervisor said I would have to wait in line when she has time.....I said I was before everyone you are helping!!! Talk to the supervisor which she never gave me her name ( I waited) she tried to go back to why the address change error happened instead of correcting the error the post office had made. Who cares how it happened....we had gone in several times and had done what they had ask us to do to correct the issue...with still no resolve. The last straw for me was when my court papers were returned to the court in December 2019 indicating that I did not live at the address I had been at for 3 and a half year. I was given a Post Masters number Sonja Chissell 925-228-98-75...I called to leave her a voice mail since she is the Postmaster...I was hung up on...I called again and the same supervisor who didn't give me her name answered and said the Post Master does not have a voicemail....So in the end my son and myself have been inside this post office to get this issue resolved 5 times and spoke to the mail carriers 3 times....with no resolution just excuses. By pass this office if you can..Denise, Linda, the black supervisor who did not give her name......incredible rude! From start to finish this took 38 minutes...with still NO resolution...but I will be in there this week to speak with Sonja....let see if she is actually real ..! read more

It's so sad that the only cashier working asked for help and 2 more people came out just to NOT help her until like 10 minutes after. It looked so unprofessional for them not to mention they were SOOOOOO slow. They literally took their time even when the line extended all the way outside. When it was finally my turn, the younger lady was being pretty incompetent and refused to take my package because of my return label. I was already told that my return label was good for 30 days yet she kept insisting that I had to turn it in the SAME day it was printed (in my head I kept screaming "NO!!" ). I didn't get the return label after closing hours on an email and for her to keep insisting that I should've returned it that day? It doesn't make any sense. This is the WORST post office in the United States. Period ! After two years of lost and misrouted mail in my po box, I give up ! I switched to one in Concord. I have written to the main post office back east and every time it gets forwarded to the manager in Martinez and he apologizes and nothing happens. I get other people's mail frequently. My friend mailed me something two months ago and I just received it today. I routinely - routinely - get other people's mail both from other po boxes and even home addresses throughout Martinez. They really just don't care and there is no accountability. read more

The US postal service, along with the DMV, is an easy target for mockery and derision. In some cases this reputation is undeserved. THIS post office is not one of those cases. Today I waited almost 15 minutes in line and moved up exactly one spot. Meanwhile the line of five or six turned into a line of about 15 or so when I finally left disgusted. The single employee at the counter moved with all the hustle and alacrity of a medicated tree sloth awakening from a nap. Thanks babe. What an absolute travesty. **DO NOT GO HERE** We went to this post office yesterday evening about an hour before close, to send out our wedding invitations. Our invitations are in fact a little larger with a wax seal on the back. I had done a bunch of research and knew that I could have them hand cancelled or hand sorted so that they wouldn't go through a machine and get damaged. I was told by the lady working there that there was no such thing as hand sorting or hand canceling. That my wedding invitations were so thick that they were considered a parcel and we would have to pay $4 per envelope (would have been 116.00) to send them out. I was told they did not hand cancel or sort anyting. When I ask to speak to a manager I was then told that they did hand cancel but that it would be a dollar fifty more per envelope. I was told that they were a parcel because they were too thick to fit through the machine. The very machine I didn't want them to go through anyway. Because I had done such research before sending out my invitations, I knew that it just depended on the attendant as to whether they were going to be a jerk or not, and let us send out the invitations, without creating a huge hassle for us! This morning my husband went to the Walnut Creek Post Office, and every envelope we had was sent out, hand sorted for $12. I'm fairly certain the woman just didn't want to do her job or was planning on pocketing that extra hundred dollars from me. Regardless of what her reasoning was, I do think whoever manages this post office needs to do much better training! I will never go here again! I will be reviewing this post office and that horrible attendant on every site possible! Making a very stressful time in a person's life even more stressful is completely uncalled for! Overcharging someone by $100 is completely uncalled for! This post office sucks!!!! read more
