Holy crap I'm pissed! Once again I have gotten a message that something was delivered, but guess what? NOTHING! A few months back I ordered a refurbished iWatch from eBay, want a take a guess what happened? Bingo! Nothing! When I went to speak to the manager it took 20 mins to speak to him and when I finally did he tells me it was delivered to the wrong address. Ok I said so what are you going to do about it? On each occasion that I have visited this office the staff have been extremely helpful and efficient. Sure the lines can take a while but many times that is the customers fault for not being properly prepared or informed. Couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting this Post Office with my "ready for his morning nap" toddler who was on the brink of a meltdown. I had to get my companies holiday party invitations out as soon as possible. I went in to get stamps. Every person I dealt with was extremely pleasant and helpful. The gentleman that waited on me could tell I had my hands full and juggling a child and stamping over 100 envelops was about to get hairy. He grabbed another person and quickly the three of us stamped my envelops and I was on my way. I know its a small gesture but it meant the world to me. I was in and out in minutes. The absolutely worst USPS service. EVERY single time (over ten times) I have something important and time sensitive delivered through them, We never ever get it. However we do always get the little orange slip that says they made an "attempt" to deliver. When? I work from home! They don't actually "attempt" I've seen them walk right into my building without even ringing bells or knocking doors and they start writing orange slips left and right and stuffing in mail boxes. I mailed a gift to someone who lives in Malden. I checked online and it said it was received at the PO but rerouted because of the address or zip code. I put everything correctly and i was standing at that address a couple weekends ago. The person received a number of packages to that address and made sure it was correct. I called the PO and was told a manager would call me back. That was 2 weeks ago and i haven't heard anything. If the address is incorrect, why wasn't it returned to the return address? That is why I put it on the package. Now a gift is lost and i am extremely frustrated with the poor service I've been provided. read more

I hate this post office...really really badly. I remember once they sent me a notice saying i had to pick up a package I really really wanted so badly so I left work early(in Watertown at the time) to trudge through the snow to find the hidden valley that is Mountain Ave. I got there at 4:58...just as the woman was locking the door. Keep in mind I said locking...not already locked. She kindly opened the door to say they were closed. I begged and pleaded to no avail. When I finally came back the next day to get my package..they could not find it originally and I had to wait almost a half hour while they figured it out. Just an update on this post office. I feel bad for just giving this postal office 1 star on my previous review because I had many great experiences after that. Okay maybe I shouldn't have wrote a bad review based on one bad experience last year. Everyone has those bad times at work. As a retail associate, I can understand the struggles of dealing with people all day. I went here earlier this week. The tall gentlemen with the eye glasses was really kind. I had the right label but I didn't realized I used the wrong box!! he then gave me the correct box which was flat rate. He even helped me taped everything back together. I don't know what others think but one thing happened today and I felt like I should come here and give Malden USPS 5 stars. I ordered something online and the tracking said it's been delivered since last Saturday morning but I never saw it until this morning so I decided to go to USPS in person. They didn't find my mail in office but they're very patient and ask me to leave my information and told me her supervisor will call me later in the afternoon letting me know my mail status(I was worried it has already been sent back or other people accidentally took my mail). Two hours later I got a tracking text message saying my package has been delivered. I went to check my mail box and my mail was there! I was so happy. I didn't expect they're efficient. But they do listen to you and pay attention on you. Thumb up! Thank you mailman and all the USPS staff in Malden! read more

OK - seriously - it's not that bad! I have lived in four states...been here in MA since 2004...it's really not that bad. I don't think this is an appropriate place to leave a crappy review for USPS package delivery at your home. Or for your mail carrier. So let me tell you about my experience. My mail carrier is Paul. He's old(er), incredibly sweet and kind, always waves and says hello. He **sent me a thank you note**! for giving him a small gift at Christmas. Who does that!? Which leads me to the second person who sent me a thank you note: my USPS package carrier is John. He FREAKING ROCKS. John lives in Malden and knows everybody. He has taken the time to know me, my husband, my girls (lots of packages thanks to Amazon Mom/Prime), and has a fabulous sense of humor for a job that is not always (GASP!) thankful. Substitute package deliverers, indeed, can't read the "please don't leave anything at my front door" sign, and sometimes don't knock but leave package notices. Thank god John doesn't quit, things are good when he's working. OK so I just finished saying that these posts aren't appropriate for the carriers on a Malden Post Office review area - but there is MY experience. Now, for that old inefficient office with inadequate parking: ARghghgh! Not a good place. Not a happy vibe. The line moves, the staff aren't delaying anything; perhaps most are not more than perfunctory but they do their job. So, where's the problem? Is it the customers? The bad atmosphere in the space? Yes. That doesn't help. (By the way, there is a new man there who was so nice. If everyone was like him behind the counter we'd all be giving 5 stars. I hope they don't scare him away.) Here's what you can do. Be polite, which sometimes means tolerant, and maybe even helpful. To that reviewer complaining about the "stay at home mom with 2/3 kids," I say - Hi, how are you? I'm sorry, I forgot, you were never a child, and you never had a Mom. Whoops! I have two little daughters, and my style of parenting is to love them and keep them in line. To not annoy other customers as much as humanly possible, because if they're doing that, they are surely annoying me as well. I HATE taking the kids to stand in a line at the post office. And no one has *ever* let me cut a line, no matter what, or given me any kindness from a fellow customer in the post office outside of the week before Christmas. I've come rocking my sleeping infant in her carseat while holding a toddler on my hip and balancing a package...- maybe hold the door for a person who needs help, a Mom or Dad or elderly or disabled. That would be nice. To the person who experienced a "druggie with a baby who cut the line" - yes, druggies mail packages too. Maybe you should have wanted her out of your hair and that office if she was so scary. Cutting lines annoys me too. Sounds like she should be focusing time on that precious baby, so maybe jumping ahead was a good thing. You know what else you can do, dear postal customer? To make life better for other people in that less than wonderful space? Have your package ready to mail! Hm! That's a good one! Bring your own tape, or bring tape to share (like I do) with others who forget. It's not free unless you're shipping Priority. Tape is not free at a government run business for the public. Tape and address your packages at home when you can. Sigh. There eventually will be a turn over of staff there and surely they will have some both charming and efficient people working at the front desk. Automated mailing center is awesome and was desperately needed. Oh - I know people are making generalizations about it 'always being busy' - but I do have good luck during the weekday hours sometimes, especially upon opening. It's hit or miss. Try to avoid when people go on their lunch break or right before closing. I too don't love their hours which feel way too short to serve our large city of Malden. My husband and I just returned from the Malden Post Office 8/21/12. Nancy waited on us because we had to renew our expired passport. She was so professional, thorough and pleasant. She explained every detail of what she was doing and what we should expect as far as an approx date of receiving the new passport in the mail. She was terrific. Great experience. this place is worse than the Revere post office! it's an awkward set up, very cramped, smelly, and it's so SLOW. i mean, i understand the post office is known for long lines, but this one was non-moving for ten minutes. finally, a postal worker came out from the back and started asking the customers if they needed help with anything. this made absolutely no sense to me. isn't that why all 20 of us are in line? to be helped? Secondly, there is no dedicated person doing passport applications. Why does this have to be done at the post office, anyway? it seems silly to have postal workers collecting all of the passport paperwork. it slows the line down even more! whatever...i ran my envelope through the stamping device at work. i just needed a certified stamp. that's the only reason why i gave it two stars. if i actually had to wait for a service, i'd give it negative stars. don't come here if you're on a time constraint! read more

My experience at the post office is great. However, this is like the 5th time they delivered packages to the wrong addresses since I moved here 7 months ago. First it started with my packages in my neighbor's mailbox which is fine since we live in the same building. Then I would get packages from a complete different address. Not just once or twice, sometimes it's a dozen in a day. It seems like the person who is in charge of the area is too lazy to go to the right address so he just dropped everything here. Today I was not able to find my package after the tracking stated it has delivered. It was within an hour and I thought someone might have taken it. Guess what, it was delivered to another address and the guy who received it was nice enough to dropped it off. It's not like mistakes don't happen, but it shouldn't happen this often. It looks bad on me if I have to contact the retailer to report a missing package when the tracking says delivered. I hope the store takes care of this problem SO PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO DO USPS JOB AND REDELIVER THE PACKAGES TO THE RIGHT ADDRESS. read more

I live in Melrose, which is serviced by this post office. Carrier service has been horrible...I often receive a neighbor's mail who lives on a different street. This has been going on for over 5 years and every time I call, they state 'we will talk to the carrier'. Yeah, whatever, that didn't work the last 10 times DB. The Postmaster has been useless as too has been the Advocate in Washington. Last week I received the mail from 5 (five!) different households! WTF? I even had someone's 'hold-mail' card in my box. What the hell is going on over there? They blame it on substitute carriers but that's BS....they should be able to sort the friggin mail. I had to switch to all electronic billing because my credit card bills were getting lost. read more

I've lived in Malden for 16 years and have never had a problem with the post office or mail delivery. My mail arrives at the same time every day and is always in our individual mailboxes. I've also never had a problem with "mail hold," which I use when I'm on vacation. One time, a package, sent from a company that didn't require a signature, was stolen out of my foyer, and the manager of the PO couldn't have been nicer about trying to help me report the theft. Is there ever a mixup with my getting someone else's letter on occasion? Sure. Is the staff at the PO more straightforward than chatty? Yes, and that's actually a good thing. Have I ever had to wait in line at the PO? Um, yeah, every single time. That's just called life, people. I, too, used to roll my eyes and get impatient, but you have to accept the fact that sometimes in life, there will be lines! And after years of observation, I've also realized that the long lines are actually due to customers' being unprepared (see Elizabeth G's comments about tape) or not knowing how to fill out forms. So, basically that boils down to: customer, heal thyself. No one is born knowing how to send a certified letter. Sometimes it needs to be explained, and you're the poor sap stuck behind the guy who needs the explanation. Malden has a significant international population, too, so again, yeah, you're going to have to wait for people to send boxes overseas - which are probably filled with presents. Think about it: presents! The other day, a girl and her mother were shipping two humongous boxes to her college in the Midwest. How can you be mad about that? Someone's going to college! That's exciting. And good. And if you pay attention, you'll see it really is only about a ten minute wait. Trust me, I've clock-watched... back in my eye-rolling days. And though ten minutes in real time can feel like an eternity - because we're sending actual things, not texts - when you think about (at some point when you're in your happy place), ten minutes really is nothing. If you are prepared with pre-labeled, maybe even prepaid, TAPED boxes and have an idea of what kind and how many stamps you want in advance, and buy Christmas stamps in October instead of December 19th, and listen to an iPod, you'll be all set to spend ten minutes in line at the Malden PO, or any PO, for that matter, 'cause Woburn ain't no picnic neither. Don't ever think you're running in for a minute. Prepare yourself for the way it is and always will be. Oh, and P.S., you know there's a self-serve area, too, right?? read more

Delivery in Malden is fine, but I have to go to the acutal office is like entering the second circle of dante's hell. OK, not quite that bad, at least the hairy guy that has his shirt half buttoned seems to be gone. From the moment you arrive outside, and try to find a parking spot (Note-Melrose has a drive through drop off) you are welcomed to trash strewn everywhere. Woudl it hurt to have someone walk around the building, say,.. every 3 month or so whether it needs it or not? Its even worse in the winter when they seem to count on foot traffic to remove snow and ice. Rarely do you see more than 2 people working the counter, no matter how long the line is, even though there seems to be plenty of people walking around behind the counter. and the amount of other peoples mail I get in my PO box, makes me wonder how much of my mail other people get. read more

For some reason the Malden Post Office and delivery carriers handles my area (Melrose.) There is A LOT wrong with this post office/carriers that needs to be handle ASAP. Now, I understand the finer workings of the Post Office, my aunt has worked for the post office on the shore for over 27 years so I get not everything is perfect and prompt. What I do NOT get, is the constant debacle that seems to be this section of carriers. I have mail come a week LATE (with tracking so I know it was 'out for delivery') I have packages that require a signed slip, to not receive ANY slips until the day they return it, and when the rare occasion occurs when there is a slip that I will sign and tape to my door, it magically disappears and no package.... I receive, constantly, other peoples mail even though both my mailbox and house are very clearer labeled with both house number and name. There is always a different person delivering the mail on a daily to weekly basis, so perhaps issues are happening from that, but either way, I should not be receiving mail weeks later or constantly having to walk a block to give the wrong mail to the right person. I understand sometimes carriers makes mistakes, and sometimes things get disorganized, but every week?? I am tired of checking my mailbox everyday for 4-5 days total for a package that was supposedly "out for delivery" , if it was out for delivery at 9:00am that day, why am I not receiving it until the following week? They need to either stick to a schedule for the carriers so that people actually receive their important mail and packages, or talk to the carriers to be more proactive and cautious. I get mistakes happen, but at this level it is inexcusable and I have noticed it get progressively worse every month...... read more

My VA presription medicine should be delivered by mail but the packages never arrived even though they are traced to the postiffice and marked delivered. Being 86 year ol a World War II veteran forced to go the the VA facility to pick up the medicine is a hardship. I, too, have to give a zero to the Malden Post Office. And the funny thing, is that they do not care, nor will anything be done about the behavior of their tellers. I am a college educated person, good job. But every time I go there, even just to ask a question, they treat me like I am an idiot. There is one teller, an Asian American woman, not that it matters, it's only for identification purposes, who simply can't answer a question without being snippy. Lady! Don't do me any favors. In the past I have not had a problem at the post office. But I tried to send a package on Monday. The line was all the way to the door, and there was ONE worker at the desk. I couldn't wait that long. I went back early Tuesday morning. There was ONE person at the desk, and the line was out to the door again. I waited and watched this worker take 10 minutes to help one customer. The worker was squinting at written materials, as if she needed glasses, and worked at a snail's pace, as the line became longer. Again, I didn't have the time to wait (what I think would have taken 30 minutes to wait) in line. I would love to get my Christmas present off to my son who lives in another state. I would agree with all the comments in this. Customer services either need to be retrained or replaced. I'm hoping that I would eventually deserve a better service. Since these people are mean, disrespectful, unwelcoming. The service is also extremely slow, and is located in a bad environment. Something needs to be done about this. Do not send express mail through this location. I have had several packages show up days late with express mail. I've had to wait in line twice to process a refund. Spoken with two supervisors and received different stories each time. The latest information is that express mail purchased online cannot be refunded through this office. There is one male clerk who is very friendly. The female clerks are very rude, lots of eye rolling and curt responses to questions. A complete lack of desire to be friendly and understanding with the customers is what you'll be greeted with here. Drive down Main St and visit the Melrose post office across from Shaw's supermarket. Avoid going to this place as much as possible. some of the front desk crew in this location don't even know what USPS stands for! Today I went there to pick up my package, and I told the dick head that my USPS app says my package is here. Guess what he says...we are not USPS! Lol can you believe that? Anyways I called back and the so called supervisor picks up and talks to me with an ignorant tone of voice. The loser tells me to call back, and when I called back they never picked up. The Malden Post Office is a black hole for packages headed for Melrose. Packages identified on the web-based tracking system as "out for delivery" take weeks - sometimes more than a month - to actually make it to the delivery truck. The false "out for delivery" designation makes it appear on the USPO's internal systems that the Malden office is complying with delivery standards when it isn't. read more

Was opening a PO box and went in for a 2nd trip because I didn't have all the information I need the first time. I approached the counter and spoke to a male staff, and when I inquired about using street address instead of PO box address, I got yelled at. I explained to him that I spoke to a lady at the previous visit and was told that it's a possibility, and before I even finished my sentence, he was like, "No matter who you have talked to and what you have heard, it makes no difference." and he started to turn himself away. I was very upset but ironically, the lady I spoke to last time just popped up. I requested to talk to her, and she then, of course, told me I could do that, and she kindly completed the rest of the process for me. That guy, who was standing just right next to her, kept his silence and pretended he has not said anything. I am sure there are more steps to get the street address, such lazy pants. I have been living in Malden for 14 years, and I made occasional visits to the Post Office. I mean, there are some rude people like him but there are also some really helpful staffs. read more

I have lived in several suburbs in Boston including Revere, and the Malden Post office has got to be the worst of the bunch. They are either understaffed or they just don't have enough people working in the front. No matter what time of day you go, you will wait 30 minutes. Not all of that is their fault. There are a lot of "people" in Malden who can't seem to grasp the most basic of postal requirements like labelling a package and there are lots of times when I'm waiting in line for what seems like hours when the person who is being waited upon can not understand the postal employee. It's a nightmare. I live close to the T so when I have to mail a package, I often hop on the T and go all the way to Cambridge to Kendall Square because sadly, it's not that much longer (about an hour round trip) to do it that way and it's much less frustrating. I've lived in Malden for four years and it's exactly the same as it always was so I doubt it will ever change. While I agree with Traci, that there seems to be a good rapport between the denizens of Malden and the postal employees, I think tht is part of the problem. Many older patrons of this post office seem to come here to buy a stamp and "visit" with the employees. While that might be nice for the elderly patron, it sucks for someone who doesn't have the patience to wait to mail their package. My worst experience ever was one day when I had waited about forty minutes and some druggie with a baby breezes in and cuts everyone to mail her package. I was livid and asked "why did that woman get to cut in front of everyone?" "She had a baby" was the reply - Frankly, I don't think that's something that she should be rewarded for, but I digress...
