I felt like I had stepped back in time. Fun to go to a post office where you get to interact with an actual person and not deal with all those self-serve machines. Even got to choose the Forever stamps I wanted instead of having to go with the boring ones that are always in the vending machines. read more

Staff always helpful. As I use the post office daily for my business, they have gotten to know me and they do nice things like handing me packages sent to my post office box rather than putting them in a locker. Sometimes mail addressed to my street address are recognized as mine and find their way to my box. Great job. read more

This is a great little post office. Everyone here is efficient, pleasant, courteous, helpful, thorough and knowledgeable. They do it all, including passports :) You can tell alot of regulars come here and the staff knows their names etc.. it's nice to witness the personal connections. I always see everyone with a smile and kind attitude from the person tending the lobby... to the clerks... and the supervisors. I appreciate their willingness to always be helpful and friendly. I'm giving it 3 stars because the ladies at the desk are so sweet, kind and helpful. But otherwise what a mess! Management says they'll call you back and don't. You don't get notified if there is something wrong with your mail and just so inconsistent. Huge fan of USPS but I'll drive to the Santee post office any day over Lakeside. read more

Worst service ever from two representatives first one DOLORES she kept on ignoring my daughter and I as if we were invisible, then we had PERLA try to help and she took it Offensive that I spoke Spanish to her and the only reason I did that was Do to the fact that I couldn't understand her English her accent was pretty rough they put us on the side for 3 hours to get help ... Once again no mail delivered on Saturday April 24 2021! Now on my informed delivery app. It says that they attempted to deliver my package at 7:42pm.. At that time my husband and I were watching tv. We live in a mobile home park and our mail box is maybe 20 feet from where we sit to watch tv. Last week the same happened to my husband's package. The day it was to be delivered we had no mail service that day either. Amazon has no problems delivering our packages. One came an hour before on Saturday. read more

Very unsatisfactory service. The delivery person stated they could not access the front door. The door is not obstructed in any form or fashion. Take the extra time to drive to the post office in Santee. The woman at the counter seemed like she was trying to be difficult. Most places check the pricing of the packages before they make you fill out labels in case it's priority or otherwise. She made me step out of line to fill out priority labels even though I ended up shipping first class mail. She made me buy blank labels and tear off the ones I had just filled out. The cherry on top was when I forgot to seal one of the three packages and she would not give me a single piece of tape. She said I would need to purchase a four dollar roll of tape to seal a tiny little package myself. Forget it. Never coming back here. read more

Lakeside is a "village". With that in mind, many who come in to purchase an item or require the services of a clerk, tend to want to chat with the clerks. While trying to keep the image of the Post Office in a positive light and still be courteous to the customers, the clerks engage in friendly conversations. This tends to ssslllooowww things doowwnn.!! Case in point: I arrived at the post office lobby at 4:41 pm on a Thursday. Three customers were ahead of me. That would be 2 being helped at the counter and one person waiting in line in front of me. When I was my turn to be helped, one clerk said to the other,"I'll go lock the front door." indicating it was 5pm- closing time. The other clerk was finishing up with customer # 2 that was ahead of me. They had quite the nice long chat.(Not the fault of the clerk). So, I waited more than 20 minutes to buy 1 stamp. They have no vending machine or self serve machine in the lobby. I was told in the past that too many "people" used the scales for illegal use So, no self service or stamp machines and looonnngg waits because grandma, Billy Bob, or the horse ranch guy wants to catch up on what's been happening. Recommendation: Use the post office on 2nd Ave & Peach in El Cajon. The self serve postal machine is the best idea the post office came up with. It's open 24 hours and is cover with security cameras and well lit. read more

Our mail servers have been wonderful in Lakeside. When our first carrier John, retired John # 2 took over. They are what all US postal service should be. Smart, friendly, hard working, and care about the neighborhood for which they delivered. "Through hail, sleet or snow...." these men uphold the idea for which such oath is based. Now the new John got promoted to supervisor. We have moved out of his area now, but if there is any forwarding issues, John does his best to track it down! The customer service at this post office is horrid. There is one person in particular that makes me cringe when I think about this post office. It wasn't just 1 experience, nor was it 2 or 3 but 5 times did he make my experience a living hell while in that tiny little office. He is extremely rude and don't dare ask him about their services because he will merely nod his head towards their "menu board" which will lack the answer, thus the reason I am asking in the first place. The last time I went I was standing in line and literally was praying that I wouldn't end up with him because everyone else seems to enjoy their job, but unfortunately this man is the main clerk that works there, so he seems to be ALWAYS at the counter. I live within walking distance of this post office, and run an online business so I have alot of mail leaving my house. I work full time m-f 8-5 (so the post office is never open for me) and I don't even bother with having the scheduled pick-up service because my mail man is too lazy to come to my door to drop off packages, why would he come to pick it up. I have had packages sit at my door waiting to get picked up for 3 days in a row. So instead of having someone steal the packages (because that would be more of a guarantee than the post office picking them up) every Saturday I drive to the Santee post office to drop off my packages. read more

Mail comes on time but we have problems with getting the wrong streets mail semi often. At my gals house the mail is always messed up, and for a long while was partially opened if it looked like a check we lodged a complaint and the open mail issues stopped. and she got a new mail man. But the mail is all over the places I dont think any houses today got the mail delivered correctly. Took her mail to the neighbors, and his box had someone elses in it, and that persons had someone elses... Granted its hot today, but this isnt the first time this kind of thing has happened....its just the first time its been this all over the place read more

More than once I have had to wait while both employees were processing passport applications. This takes a long time. Seems like they should schedule the applications to prevent doing 2 at one time. There should be a quick option for people with prepaid packages, like they have in Santee. In general, this office is slow. Expect to wait. read more

Sadly to say...they never get it right. I go online to stop my mail, vacation. I always ask for it to be delivered on my return day. Last month after waiting a few days with no mail, I had to go down to the Lakeside Post Office to retrieve my mail. This time I stopped my mail and my mothers at the same time (she lives just down the street from me, I actually see her house from mine). When we arrived home she had all of her mail and again my box was empty!!! read more

This post office is usually pretty good. I made an appointment online to renew my passport and this location showed up as having photo service available. So I chose my time, showed up 15 minutes early and was told they do not do passport appointments and they do not take passport photos. Priority Shipping: if you need a specific size box, go to a larger post office. This location is usually always out of one of the sizes. And if it is the size you need, you will be out of luck. read more

You know what after reading about the grumpy guy ..wow I was coming on here to write about the exact same guy! . So i had some things that i needed to mail out for work, but did not finish completing the packages till after the pick up hour at my work. Decided to drop it off the next day - (i should have just dropped it off at the blue box) but since I had a box to ship out, I just decided to hand him all of it. He took the time that I DID NOT have and weigh each item, even items I already had postage for that was from the postage meter at work and properly affixed and were correct. He tried to fight me on some items telling me it wasn't enough but i've sent out enough packets/boxes in my life to know. He was a total jerk. He took my birthday card and weighed it on two machines becuase he didn't believe that a 45 cent stamp was sufficient --- to which it was. I have a friend who's husband works at the postage office and i know their bene's rock compared to most everyone elses, and they get to retire after 20 yrs of service --- I.E you start at 20 you get to retire at 40. So, I can't imagine life being THAT difficult. You weigh and handle mail, greet people and charge them for their stamps.....WOW. Some people....will just never be happy. I will avoid this guy also from this day forth, maybe if enough people do, he will get a clue and decide to change his bogus attitude. read more

My mail got stolen out of the drop box on the drive thru and went through some difficulty with all the fraud. They didn't seem to care and it almost seemed like they have a regular issue with this happening. Very disappointed with how things were handled, they don't have cameras on the mail boxes and I definitely won't use this location in the future . read more

Suzie delivered a very excellent service when I came by and visited Lakeside branch. She answered my questions regarding hold mail service intersecting with expected delivery date of a highly important package. She explained clearly the meaning of a rubber band left in my box (i.e. hold mail token). This means that my mail is still on hold service because of out-of-town business. Everyone I have ever dealt with at the Lakeside Post Office has been efficient and capable. Unfortunately for the past week it does not seem that my current mail deliverer is capable of making sure my mailbox is closed after they deposit my mail. I can easily close the mailbox so I am not sure why I have found it open the past week after mail has been delivered. I would have posted this directly to the Lakeside Postmaster but could not figure out how to do that. I will be putting a note on the inside of the mailbox door asking that an attempt is made to be sure it is closed. read more
