Services I have used at this location: dropping off and shipping packages, buying stamps. I've had nothing but good experiences with this location, and I don't think it's nearly as bad as some of these one-star reviews make it out to be. It looks like people are rating with their emotions rather than measuring the value of this office, because I see people having issues with tasks out of the scope of this location's functions, such as information on the USPS website, packages lost before they reached Altadena, and someone who ordered stamps online. The most viable criticisms I've seen are that the parking might be challenging at some times of day, and that there is sometimes a line, but these a pretty standard for a post office. read more

Most USPS experiences leave much to be desired but I had one today that made up for the less positive ones. Geovanne went out of his way to help me figure out my issue and efficiently handled it with a great attitude- didn't make me feel like I was wasting time. Most of the time I ask questions I'm met with impatience or cold attitude. Thanks Geovanne! Makes me want to come back. Wish they opened earlier like other locations and had better parking situation but conveniently located for me. read more

Pilar was very helpful and kind. I appreciate her support today in my mailing process.

Zero would be appropriate since they love to park in disabled spaces, i watched a guy with no legs crawl out of his car because a postal employee who is of zero importance and zero authority parked in handicap space. good job read more

US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - Altadena, California

Twice I've had packages go missing (through my own mistakes) and have gone to the usps website and filed a report. BOTH TIMES I got a call on the same day from this post office (from Daniel actually) and both times my packages were found with little fuss. Amazing service. Making a claim on the USPS website seems like it won't do anything but it will! So instead of trying to call (they don't pick up) file a report. read more

I come to this post office at least 2-3 times a month and everyone that works here has been very kind, patient and helpful.

Great service a lot of helpful staff and complete understanding supervisors are helpful when looking for

Service for the lack of employees is quick. But they need help. The air needs to circulate, it's quite stale there. The grounds need attention and parking is a mess. I say we need the USPS because it's a necessity for America to function. read more

I saw that this office had a really low rating, so I have to try and bring it up! I was in and out of this office in less than ten minutes. The line moved fast. Smooth operation. read more

I guess others have had issues, but I go there once every few months and they are always kind and helpful. Negative reviews from Altadena residents should be taken with a grain of salt since many of them are nauseatingly entitled. read more

Wish it was possible to give a minus 5 star rating.Twice in a month overnight packages containing over $200 worth of veterinary medications were lost. It's been over a month since the refund and insurance claims we're filed with USPS. The employees at this location are as sweet as sugar and as dumb as a box of rocks- to date, the unfortunate combination of complete disinterest and ignorance, probably means a complete failure of an already poorly antiquated system. As cringey as it makes me feel to recommend FedEx or UPS I certainly do above USPS!! read more

Sticker shock at the cost of sending a Christmas package, which was going to cost more than the gift was worth. But then a Christmas miracle happened. The sales clerk, Geo, asked if the item would fit in a smaller box. With my permission he opened the box, took his Exacto knife, sliced about 6" off the side of the box, then retaped and repacked it, resulting in a slightly smaller box which cost 50% less to ship. Distance x size = $$$. Fortunately, there was no one else in the post office (another miracle) so no inconvenience to others. He definitely went above and beyond and then some, and I am very grateful. read more

HORRIBLE, the ladies who work here don't even help. Just go to another post office if u don't want to be pissed off

I had a negative experience with their customer service. Despite calling several times and stopping by once, I never was able to speak with a supervisor to resolve my issue. Ultimately I disputed the charge on my credit card for the stamps I paid for but didn't receive. I even sent an email to the Post Master yet no response a week later. Very disappointed. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would please do not go to this place first of all they have no parking if you try to go onto the back parking lot which is completely empty and has no postal cars in it and just random bikes and cars that looks like it's been there for months they'll try to tow your car and then once you go inside will be really rude to you and then afterwords till they won't even send your stuff they'll be scanned and I thought post office and then will just disappear like they throw it out read more

This post office is terrible. I tried to mail important documents that were never even sent off to be received. When asked if I can have a tracking number some young black woman told me it can't have a tracking number due to some odd reason. I saw her sit the mail down so I asked if she would mail it and she said it'll all go out that same day but clearly she was just tossing mail off to the side to never even be mailed. I'll never be returning to this post office again. read more

Sending mail seems to be fine but receiving them is another story. My carrier is so lazy she always leaves packages at the front of the mailbox. It's clear that she doesn't care if packages are stolen. Even had a pair of speakers delivered and they were just left under the mailbox. She stopped bringing them to the door last year. Maybe she's close to retirement? I DON'T CARE! I live on a street that gets heavy foot traffic. If I'm not home during the day I guess the post office just expects me to drop what I'm doing and go home pick up my package and then return to my life. That's the mentality of this worker anyway. She also says she afraid of dogs and even though my dog was behind a fence she asked me to come out to give her mail that didn't belong to her instead of taking it from my hand. Uh my dog isn't even close to the height of my fence and would never be able to reach her. I've complained so many times but of course she tells her manager she brings packages to our doors. And it's her words against mine and all the other neighbors on my block. I'm sick of their lies! If it weren't for my kind neighbors bringing my packages to my door I would never have anything I ordered. The post office should be paying them for doing this lazy carriers job!!! read more

For the pass few weeks, our carrier had made many mistake in delivering packages and mail. Try calling the office, BUT got the go around with your answering system wile trying to talk to someone who may be alive???? BUT NO LUCK. read more

Horrible and Experience with the supervisor Elizabeth M Kane, I needed my mail and she said she would get it from the back and all of a sudden she said no. When I told her I needed my checks, she didn't care. read more

They're generally kind of rude and incompetent at this location, but whatever. It's a tough gig. The thing is that now It's also just scary and gross--two people walked in wearing masks under their noses and one had no mask on at all. Nothing is said by workers safely behind plastic sheathing, of course, and you are now stuck in line exposed. On top of that, the clerk insisted I go back to the end of the line because I needed to fill in the address on the Priority envelope they keep behind the counter. I asked him to please let me pay for the supplies and drop it back at counter, since it's a flat rate, but he refused. Wouldn't even let me just step aside for a second. I've never had that situation at any other post office, and certainly not when you're clearly trying to minimize time spent inside next to the mask-challenged. read more

Super fast service! Every time I come here I'm in and out within 5 mins. All other post offices have super long waiting times, at least in my experience! Employees have always been polite and very friendly. I hope they don't close this location down! It's very easy to miss this post office, so drive slow when you drive by the Ralph's. It's across the street from the grocery store. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, since they don't have a parking lot. You have to park on the street and space is very limited. read more

I've been to some bad post offices in my time, but this one is comically defective. It's understaffed, which might not be a bad thing since the skeleton crew that works here is completely incompetent. I've been here five times now and each was worse than the last. read more

This location gave the best service I ever had at any postal office. The employees were all knowledgeable and moved fast. I got in and out fast. I also came to this location two times today, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I definitely will be returning. read more

I can safely say that the Altadena community would appreciate it if the Altadena post office would open earlier. It is inconvenient for any USPS to open this late in the morning. Every time I come in right before 10am there is a long line of customers waiting anxiously. Really would appreciate it if they considered opening earlier. read more

I ordered a medium sized package which was sent FedEx and then transferred to the Altadena Post Office to be delivered. Well, it was delivered.....DOWN ON THE STREET UNDER THE MAILBOX!!!!!! How could that be with all the package thefts that have been going on around here? Why couldn[t the package be delivered to the front door as they usually are, or, atleast, put over the gate down below! What if this had been stolen? Then what? The CARRIER needs to get with the program. The Post Office never answers their phone so I am on hold for "50 minutes wait time" to speak to a PO number somewhere! So irritating! read more

Very very understaffed. Long lines and long waits. Very bad place for the elderly and folks who need to stand and wait for long periods of time with no seating. Ironically it is the elderly who tend to still use post offices on a regular basis. The Federal government could do much better and service the public better! read more

Zero stars for a long-standing LACK of professional accountability on behalf of these community postal workers adding to this tarnished yelp review archive . Today , we have a second recorded video event of an Altadena Postal worker audibly - throwing our Amazon purchase against the wall and subsequently slamming to the ground. I was working in my office, which is against the wall of where she threw it and it rattled the entire wall in result . The video catches the worker having thrown a 3 pound box and audibly; one can ascertain a negligent process of care and a lack of communal property and respect. When approached with the pronoun maam - she only defends her actions further and resumes a non accountable attitude. - Saying "I didn't drop it " "it's too heavy" . She had a confident air of malice and blatant coldness in the meet and now we and our neighbors are remaining vigilant about the future whereabouts of our legal mails and packages. We are likely now buying a doorbell camera system thanks to this event. We need and ask for supervisor support : for all the yelp reviews here - as we hold no confidence if there is an honest delivery system at this time. Also to note we are respected Government employees and extremely disappointed. (As an added bonus - We also have additional video evidence of a different postal worker throwing a package box , 20 feet , smashing to the front door and ground). Enough is enough . We work hard for our money and family. No-one will be taking water nor spilling our water, out of OUR well , any longer . Lastly , should the Altadena postal office treat this complaint as unsung and mere "water cooler talk" - we will provide Amazon and ALL of our high end carriers ; a copy of the 2 videos and have it securely uploaded to all social networks, that will have many ppl reflect ; on why there is a continuing and long-standing unprofessional behavior module in place , regarding the Altadena Postal Office. Amazon and our social networks will likely see they are losing crucial and future revenues. Stay tuned.. #yelp #Amazon #Accountability #Community #Respect read more

I frequent 3 post offices in my area (La Canada, Pasadena Lincoln Ave & Altadena) and for the most part am EXTREMELY satisfied with the service. Customer service is ALL the post office has going for it these days. Less and less people are using USPS for their day to day correspondence, paying bills, etc. SIDE NOTE: the parking is not good - you can get lucky and get one of the spots on the street that is shared by the other retail businesses or..... well, there's no OR... the lot right down the street says specifically no POST OFFICE parking - you will be towed. It's likely that noone will ACTUALLY be there long enough to be towed, but it tells me that the P.O. doesn't pay to have that lot used for their customers... and there is a need for it - they have P.O. boxes and a service window. People drive and should have somewhere LEGAL to park besides 5 spaces that are shared with 5+ other businesses. I appreciate the Priority Mail service - it is fast and efficient and the flat fee boxes are GREAT. I use them ALL the time. This service is probably keeping the USPS in biz with FED EX, UPS and Amazon snatching so much of the home delivery business - but I digress... back to my story.... Today, I prepared a box at Altadena and I brought my addressed box to the window in need of two strips of tape for it. I was told I needed to BUY THE PRIORITY MAIL TAPE. I have NEVER been told this by ANY OTHER clerk at the P.O. I am 55 yrs old. I've been going to the P. O. a LONG TIME. THIS is why post offices are closing - because I WILL be going to the other ones - if they are not inclined to provide customers those little extra things that we DEFINITELY APPRECIATE - I sure do, well customers will find other places to go. I ALREADY can't pick up my packages from there. I have to go to the Lincoln Ave P. O. for that. Under producing USPS offices, are closed (like the Jackie Robinson post office was) and so many others have been - and that means a LOSS OF JOBS, and loss of convenience to a community. There's a mail carrier (not my regular one, he's a doll) that throws magazines (glossy ones i subscribe to) in the driveway like it's the pennysaver... all the time. I've complained and finally i think they got him! But last month, it happened again. At the end of the day. Having someone BUY tape (who is already paying $19.00 to MAIL a package... but now not going to pay at YOUR Post Office) is short sighted. The only reason I go there is to patronize a neighborhood establishment - I won't bother going there anymore. read more

I'm giving this a one star for wasting my time. Their website specific to this location says they open at 9 but the sign on their door says 10. They were able to get someone to come in and reprint the door hours but could change the hours on their website in all that time and they wonder why the post office is becoming obsolete. read more

This is the second time an item has been lost in two weeks. And no resolve nor help from this post office. The first item was not even scanned out or scanned when delivered. The recipient where it was left was kind enough to bring the item to me HOWEVER after when I needed the item. This time the item has been scanned as delivered but no one seems to know WHERE it was delivered exactly. read more

I am still not sure about the parking situation. But the service is definitely the best. They really have the NICEST people working there.

They lost a valuable package that I sent postage paid, labeled and properly packed. It turned up in Anaheim 21 days later. No investigation, just some hypotheticals. The attitude of the USPS is " Why are you so stupid that you would expect the Post Office to handle and deliver packages? Everybody knows we suck!". read more

It's very hidden its behind a big tree, if you can't find it. It's directly across the street from the Ralph's. Cool guy in there I went in to ship out some tshirts that I'm selling.
