I went to the post office to mail packages at 4:30 pm on 5/22/26. There was one lady was serving. I asked the question about the cost of the package, she treated me like a child. I understood what she said, but it showed other options of the cost on screen, I thought the cheapest one would apply. But the way she said was very rude. She should know better how to treat customer better. The location is convenient but it's still a ridiculous service and she does not care because it's a government job and not easily get hired. read more

Unreliable and unprofessional. The San Marino post office closes during arbitrary times. While there's a closed sign (see photo) when they should be open (11:30 am), you can hear the workers behind the doors talking and laughing with music blasting. The San Marino office works great, but they need to inform people that the USPS in general does not work great. In particular, Priority Mail is a joke. Your item will not get there in 2-3 days, and you are lucky if it gets to the destination at all. They need to communicate the deficiencies to their customers. One package that I sent did not get there at all, and another appears to be lost after 4 days. read more

This is the best post office in the surrounding area. The staff are always really nice, efficient, and helpful. There is plenty of parking lot and street parking. I used to live in Pasadena and would drive out of my way to drop off packages here because the staff is so much kinder than the usps employees at the Pasadena locations. I had a package from eBay that was held up to a $0.66 postage not paid. It's last stop was at this USPS, but I'm glad I called them to see what the status was because I scheduled for a next day redelivery and it never showed up. Also, pro-tip: call the local usps and not the 800-ask-usps number if you want to talk to a person. They actually went and looked for my package and told me that I could come in and pay for the extra charge or schedule a redelivery and the driver would wait 3 minutes before leaving. Even more surprising was the fact that they picked up my phone call after only a couple rings. Also, for those working M-F 8-5, it's convenient that this location opens on Saturdays. Overall, I never would have thought that they would go the extra mile to look for my package, but I'm really glad they did. This is a review for one of their mailmen. He's just not very good. It seems like he does things purposely I'll put mail out but it's not taken or if he takes it, it never gets to the destination. He has an attitude. He can never push the mail down the slot so it hangs for strangers to possibly steal. He's not friendly. First time visiting this location since the other location that I normally go to was closed due to construction on the street. I found parking in the back and it's a bit of a walk to get to the front (for me). Lots of parking in the back. It's a small post office with one person working. I have a box with label ready to go, just a drop off. There was no sign anywhere or any section indicated for drop off. I asked the gentleman working there and he said to drop it off at the counter and I see other 3 packages. Overall if they can have a sign that would be great. read more

It's a post office, but here's what's special about this location to me... Pros: 1. Convenient location on Huntington. 2. Sufficient parking on the main street, side street, and behind. 3. Went in to attempt package shipment for NEXT day air to Chicago, the gentleman was super nice!!! He was trying to get my package to fit into smaller box so I don't have to pay so much. After few attempts we ended up having to us the same package I brought in. He knew my package needed to get there as soon as possible because item inside is frozen, he suggested that I come back on Monday for shipment instead of shipping out Friday because Sunday the package would just be sitting at the facility. It's always my first choice when I have to mail a package. The clerks are helpful and the lines aren't too long. For a post office, I guess it is, "as good as it gets". The San Marino, California branch is by far the most friendly post office I've been to. The tellers are trusting, and always have good advice on how to best ship or mail items. During the holidays, like in the next couple of months, there will be hundreds of patrons out the door of this post office because it is so convenient and accessible. It's too bad they are never fully staffed however, as it always seems everyone is multi-tasking between packaging and mailing, as well as the vacation mail pick-up and large boxed orders from businesses. The staff are so nice, they let me slide a few cents if I promised to return the payment; I was back in 2 minutes to collect some change out of the ashtray! read more

This is the best post office I have seen. Despite the holiday season, there was no line, the customer service professionals were friendly, complimentary, calm, and on point. I had left the Alhambra PO (after waiting in line for 20 mins) to come here with my package to make a later USPS cut off time and get it sent in time for Xmas. The other post office told me I needed to repackage my box for the express shipping, but the employee here just taped the express tape all over the box and shipped it out no problem. She made me feel relaxed and taken care of. Wow! It's a bit out of my way, but I may start coming here to ship things more often. I like the "can-do" attitude! read more

I'd give this post office 0 stars if I could. This is a review that's long overdue. This post office is the WORST usps I have been to. I've been there several times out of convenience and not choice and one time, their agebts chatted casually with a customer for 10 min after the transaction was over, completely ignoring the line. The other time, Phan, who is an extremely rude postal agent speaks without eye contact when approached. Their supplies are hardly refilled regardless of what hour you go in at and although I just needed one usps box so that I can pack my package, she dismissively told me to go at the end of the line. There were 8 people in line by the way. She also replied with excuses of their incompetency. I tried to call USPS to file a complaint but their phone system is as incompetent as their employees at this San Marino location. So I can only give you my warning here. Go if you have at least 30 min for a transaction of any sort (even if it's a question) and if you enjoy receiving attitudes and zero service. 5/13/2020 Just wanted to update that this post office has really changed their customer service up for better! read more

This is my updated review. It's been a while. Thank goodness, somehow they removed the nasty Caucasian lady who was mean, unkind and no help. Post office finally hired two new African America workers who were soooooooo nice and kind. Just wonderful to watch them to interact with customers. I'm not sure if the Post office also removed the Asian male worker who always tried to do his job but with a little bit strict tones of voice that I felt a little bit pressure from him. I'm not sure if he still works but the two new people (I should've gotten their names), they are lovely. I hope they keep working here. All of sudden, I felt want to come to this location. Because of the previous mean workers, I stopped coming to this location, and drove to Alhambra or Pasadena or even use an expensive UPS just to avoid to come to this location which didn't make sense to me because this location is so close to my home. All the people that are complaining about this USPS location clearly have never been to any other location in L.A. This is by far the best USPS in L.A. If you are complaining about the lousy service here, I suggest you check out the USPS on West 6th Street in Koreatown. I am willing to drive extra 20 minutes just to come here to ship out my stuff. My dad works for the post office and when he doesn't want to take my packages or if I need to send something overseas, I go to this post office in San Marino. It is a quiet post office and it is small but they are efficient. They have adequate parking and I usually just park on the street. I have not had to wait more than 5 minutes when I'm in line. They don't try to rip you off by offering to send your first class mail priority mail. The good perk about having a dad that works in the post office is you know all the tricks about shipping. You can drop off your eBay packages and they will just throw it in the back so your packages will go out super fast. Their lobby is small but it gets the job done. They're more than willing to give you boxes and answer your questions. They have better business hours too as they are open late on the weekends for those last minute deliveries. read more

Super friendly, helpful postal workers at this location! They're open late on weekdays and on Saturdays (not sure about hours because website is usually not updated; will check). How often do you receive service with a sincere smile? And do they volunteer suggestions about the fastest way to mail your stuff and leave? Every time I've been here, they've been so ready to help me, from picking out stamps to mailing off a package through their self-service machine. It's self-service, and they will still help me out. The only gripe, which is minor, is its location. Since it's located near the intersection of San Gabriel and Huntington, it can be a hassle to maneuver your way through the cars waiting at the intersection. The best way to arrive and leave is through the small residential street near it. read more

This Post Office is Awesome! They are super nice and its safe and the people have been working there for a long time. They know their stuff and they are super friendly! Line gets kind of long, but only looks that way because the space inside is small. You can go faster if you want to mail something by going to the APC or Automated Postal Center. Sharon, the Caucasian lady, is constantly rude to everyone, but especially to the Chinese customers that come in. I've witnessed her on multiple occasions berate and talk down to customers who were being nothing but nice to her. She rolls her eyes and makes little remarks that are so degrading and unnecessary. Considering the demographic of this post office, you'd think she would be more considerate. If she hates what she does so much, she shouldn't work in the front desk. I most definitely do not feel comfortable having my elderly mother come to this location. read more

I had a friend pickup a new pickleball paddle that was shipped to the PO box I've had here since 1985. I gave him several documents to show the staff: 1) a copy of my CA driver's license with MY PO BOX LISTED AS THE ADDRESS, 2) the USPS tracking information printed on a sheet of paper, 3) a copy of the email correspondence between the shipper and I, and 4) a letter signed by me, authorizing my friend to pickup the paddle shipped from Pickleball Central. My friend called me and told me the "supervisor," a Filipino man, said he "had a problem with this..." My friend was not able to pickup my paddle. When he told me about this man, I recollected another incident in the past that depicted this man's utter stupidity and lack of reasoning ability, and perhaps other mental issues, as well. Moral of the story - You'll just have to deal with it! --- As you may know, unfortunately, there's nothing we can do regarding postal / governmental staff incompetence.... read more

Everything is great about this US Post Office except for its location. As the only post office in San Marino, I really think they should be on the North bond of Huntington Drive instead of South and bordering Pasadena/San Gabriel. It just makes no sense for residents to drive almost outside of the SM to get to their mailboxes. Services have been great and efficient. Drive-thou mailbox in the back. read more

This location is a bit on the rough end. The one consistent part seems to be the long line and a lack of cashiers. This particular case I unfortunately was in another line about 7-8 people deep. I believe an older lady had to sit on a table during the significant wait if my memory serves me correct, as only 1 cashier was available to assist. I suggest only going to this location during non-peak hours...but of course, most folks who work will find that difficult. You may find that traveling to a further office than this one may actually save you time. That's what I do now. Good luck. read more

This post office is much better than the one in Pasadena on Colorado, which has parking meters that limit you to 30 minutes. This is a problem if you have specific shipping requirements which take up a lot of time (or if there's a long line). But this post office location isn't too far away and the parking is plentiful, in a less traffic congested area. This means there's less urgency and rush in service. read more

On a weekend I attempted an international delivery of a box at the San Marino branch USPS. Mitchell, a USPS worker at the San Marino branch, was working at the time. When it was my turn, not only did he not greet me, he spoke to me in a very rude attitude. My box includes several brand new newborn clothes items, breastfeeding manual pump, and other new born accessories that were to be delivered internationally urgently to a family member in need (The tags, packaging, and supportive items of the clothing were removed to ensure proper fit and a lighter overall weight). However, Mitchell spoke to me seemingly to give me all these excuses why I cannot send my box internationally. At first, he said, "you cannot send old clothes". But I said everything is brand new. Then he said "you cannot send vitamins", but I did not have vitamins included with the items. Then I asked him for a quote. He showed me the quote, but I was given many different prices. I tried to clarify the price for the fastest shipping. Mitchell gave me a price which was different from what is shown on the screen. And in a rude an impatient way he said the price on the screen is not the actual price. Since it was an urgent package, I initially agreed to send the package. He gave me an international form to fill out, and he specified I have to list out the items in the box in detail. I filled out the form with item names and quantities. However, I ran out of space because there were only 4 lines to describe the items. Then I asked him for a new form so I could fix it and condense all the description in the allotted space. However, after looking at the form that I previously wrote, he yelled at me asking "why did you write your items in detail?!". I explained to him because I was following instruction, and that I could scrap this form and write a new one. But he still continued to harp on that I should not have written it that way. He gave me another form, but since I was extremely angry, I left. Mitchell's attitude is very unprofessional and tarnishes the image of San Marino USPS and the USPS reputation as a whole. He is not suited for customer service at this time and should be retrained. He should at least smile more and use courtesy phrases such as "please, thank you, and excuse me". A customer service representative should be patient and understanding regardless of a bad day. There is no excuse for an unprofessional and rude behavior, especially when I as a customer was courteous to him since the beginning. The same day I went to the USPS Temple City branch to send out the same package. The lady customer service representative was courteous, professional, and nice. She did not give me any excuses, and she remained kind with me all the time. She explained what I should do and prepared my package for delivery in 5 minutes. read more

My star rating is for condition of premises not staff behind the counter. Once again I walked into this Post Office on Sunday to pick up my mail and found the lobby with overflowing trash cans and the floor littered with trash. I can't for the life of me imagine how the management can lock up Saturday and leave the lobby in such a state. I don't know of another business that would not keep their establishment clean. Soooooo frustrated... I put a hold on my mail via online only to find through my "ring.com" that my mail is being delivered. Ok, so they messed up, pretty par for the course for a gov't job, but just fix it. I've been on the phone for hours trying to get someone to get a hold of the San Marino office to no avail. The call center says they can't call out, wtf?? So I call myself... SM PO doesn't pick up their damn phone. I called 4 dozen times!!!!!! Then I call the call center back again and talk to Laura, the team lead who tells me again they can't call out. They are useless. The best they can do is send an electronic message that will arrive in 24-48 hours. The USPS is PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gov't employees at their best.
