We often hear about customers being rude to service workers, but what about when the customer service workers are deliberately rude, dismissive and passive aggressive towards customers? I always try to be friendly and respectful to all workers. I have worked in customer service for years and owned a business and believe in treating others as you would like to be treated. I come in to the Alamo Post Office and I am in a very good mood and end up leaving feeling horrible due to what I believe as deliberate passive aggressive behavior towards me from Ali. I understand it can be very frustrating to work in this industry, but to take your anger out on customers is not right. I could tell he was frustrated because the tape in his register to print my label broke off in the machine and he was frustrated. I could feel he was angry and took his frustration out on me and was deliberately trying to provoke me by telling me to move aside, because he didn't want to deal with my package shipping to Canada because it takes longer to process, then he tells me to fill out a form which took less than 30 seconds so he could push me aside to wait on the next customer. I felt ignored and dismissed. He takes at least 10 minutes with this customer and is nice as pie to her and others who walk in and deliberately ignores me, snaps at me for not signing the form and prolongs my wait again. I feel it was done intentionally by his actions. After he is done with this customer he delays me again and says he has to go lock the front doors because it was 5pm closing time, and he didn't lock the doors actually because a customer walks in afterwards to ask about getting a passport. Again, he stops finishing my transaction and continues to chat with the postal worker next to him as if I am not in front of him. He was deliberately ignoring me to provoke a reaction out of me to justify his dismissive behavior. It was so obvious by his behavior. I told him I was frustrated because I was returning a damaged product and for me to have to spend over 30 minutes in the post office, to make a return and pushed aside disrespectfully when I was kind to him is wrong. Then, he tells me it is $43 to ship my very small box to Canada and the cheapest rate, he thinks, but says I can come back tomorrow because his computer is only showing $43 as the cheapest and he cannot or will not try and figure it out because obviously I am not worth his time, and after he has made me wait almost 30 minutes!! I could maybe understand his disrespectful behavior towards me if I was a rude customer, and I was NOT. The last 3 times I have gone into this post office it has been extremely long wait times, their computers aren't working online or the tape breaks in the register...and unreasonable wait times. They use very antiquated systems as well. I will NEVER go here again. UPS across the street is much more efficient. read more

I'm not entirely sure about this Post Office, but the Passport service here is really friendly and well-done. Especially the woman who helped us with the Tuesday walk-in was incredibly kind and meticulously took care of everything - I was very grateful. She mentioned that she provides Passport Services on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She told me she came from Walnut Creek, where she said the service was very poor, which is why she traveled this far. I now wish I had asked for her name, since the service was so good. I highly recommend this Post Office's Passport Service on Tuesday and Thursday. read more

This place offered me exceptional quality service from Eddie for my Passport. The service provided fantastic insight into how to help meet customer expectations because the other passport issued to me was from 1988 with my swim team Walnut Creek Aqua Bears when I first visited Manchester, England on a family trip with my grandfather who visited together for competitive sports in swimming. Eddie called the Department of Passport Protection to ensure I could be issued a second passport for my recovery record look up and according to the state they know based on business this is just the beginning for me to return to London and visit Bombay, India; and Iran in the Middle East with a close friend from Iran too; and also to Brazil and Columbia and Australia. I will return to this location in the future for any of my needs. Eddie was so wonderful to me and well oriented with my requests knowing exactly how to best accommodate my situation. I am so grateful for EDDIE's expertise and understanding and presence on identifying issues to better manage these concerns or problems regarding passport renewals and travel arrangements. Although I will not be traveling for at least-4 months due to school and my commitments are so helpful today for preparing my new documentation and identification documents for the upcoming future trip to London and to far away places to meet interesting new people and learn new languages and culture! Thank you so greatly for your American empathetic support towards my journey to London for 2024 and goodbye to my family and friends who cannot accompany me on my way. The male worker at this office has never ever once worn his mask over his nose, and I've been begrudgingly coming here since the start of the pandemic. He is incompetent, slow and lazy. The female worker here has is on par with her male counterpart. Except she also has an attitude that comes along with her incompetence. I am not surprised the US Postal Service is going down the drain. The employees, at least at this Alamo office, seem to know they can't get fired and their efforts reflect it. read more

My review today is for Ali the passport processing agent. He was very informative and helpful. You must schedule an appointment for the passport services and in a rush this was the only one I could find. I had already had a horrible experience at the post office in Walnut Creek so I was very nervous for this appointment. Ali was ready for me 2 minutes early. He carefully reviewed my documents, and then he presented a possible problem and gave me some ideas for the solution. And the part that really sets Ali above anyone else? I needed additional documentation and Ali allowed me to step out and come right back with those papers without scheduling another appointment! To be respectful to Ali and his time I was back within an hour) Ali is a professional and was a pleasure to work with. How we treat one another. Human to human interactions is what really defines customer service. Ali's flexibility with me in a time he could have shown none is why I made a point to review him. Thank you Ali! read more

Usually I would give this post office only 3 stars but it seems they hired a new person to accompany the really sweet lady that has been working the desk. Both employees try to be fast and efficient . I went in to return an item to a store I bought it from and the guy crunched numbers for different pricing for me. Such a nice person. After a terrible experience at the San Ramon USPS passport office (because of the cranky man who works there who filled out my application incorrectly and lost my passport) it was extremely refreshing to work with Isabella. She is the passport agent at this office, and was extremely kind, read my application several times to make sure everything was correct, and went above and beyond to make sure that my passport application would not be messed up again! I put in a change of address form in Alamo early February. It's now March 17 and I've yet to get mail at my new address. I went into the Alamo post office a few weeks ago with hopes of getting help with this, however the man that helped me was not at all interested. He did ask me to write my phone number fine and he would have the post master call me. Needless to say he neglected to pass my information on. I went into the post office again last week and spoke to the post master. She confirmed she didn't get a message to call me. She went to the back letting me know she was going to see if she could figure it out. She came back 10 min later and said "oops, I forgot what I was doing". I waiting another 10 minutes when she took my phone number and promised me she would get to the bottom of it and call me mon. And no surprises here, she didn't call me. This is insane. I have not received mail in almost 2 months and the post office could give a shit. I live in pleasant hill now and cannot keep driving to this post office, especially when nothing happens. You cannot call them. I am missing such important mail and not even sure what to do at this point. Alamo post office you suck! read more

We had a great experience at this post office and that's a statement you don't hear a lot about post offices. We went here to get our newborns passport and the whole process was so seamless and quick, we were prepared to wait a long time and dedicated all our morning to this task but we were in and out in 20 mins. I'm used to being patient and I try to be kind to Postal employees. Today the Postal employee was clearly incompetent. An employee should be able to type in an address without trying 3 times...he was clearly unable to use the system and took 3 times longer than necessary for a simple transaction. Also his mask was not covering his face. I hope the PO Supervisor keeps a watchful eye on the staff and gauges their ability to do the job. read more

My fiance and I are new to town and have been visiting the local post office. We both have had VERY positive experiences with Ms. Nympha Rodrigues. Ms. Rodrigues has been very kind and knowledgeable as we have dropped off various sized packages and envelopes to be mailed out. She is also very quick and efficient in operating the computer, folding boxes, and taping up the boxes. Ms. Rodrigues is by far our favorite employee of the Alamo USPS! I just moved here from San Ramon and I've never experienced such nice friendly service at a post office - A POST OFFICE?!!!! So, I had to write a review because this just is not normal...I have to emphasize that this is the ALAMO POST OFFICE in ALAMO CALIFORNIA. Friendly, fast, all smiles...I LOVE ALAMO, the restaurants, nail salon, doctor's, the people, the grocery stores, but the Post Office???? That's just weird. Check this out, if your packages came damaged, maybe this is why. Give it about 1 and a half minutes, because she was on the phone, at about 2 minutes in, she throws our package up three steps and banged into our door. With no care for what was in the package, which was breakable. It only takes seconds to see what happens, thank you neighbors. Sad thing, it was very valuable. read more

They accept passport applications and take passport pictures which is convenient. Although, the wait time was about 30-40 minutes to get help with our application. The clerk mentioned early morning is the best time for passport applications. read more

As Post Offices go I'm partial to this one. It can have a wait from time to time, but usually not too bad. The people that work here are unusually happy working for the post office, strange but true. George is a great fellow and will open up the extra window when he's there and get things moving and is very friendly. The other Danville Post Office's are so constipated it's painful....yes I said that. Let's face it, waiting in line at the PO can be a chore and a time waster, but when I've gone to Alamo it's usually fairly quick and the people working there are always helpful. And when I had to get our passports renewed, I had many questions (the forms are so confusing and not user friendly at all) there is one gentleman (can't remember his name) that's stellar. He knows all the info on passports and is the "go-to" guy. So Alamo is my community Post Office choice, even though I live in D-Ville. I caught the guy's name who does the passports, and he's very knowledgeable: Emmanuel. One day I was there I had a bit of a cough/tickle in my throat from allergies and he offered me a cough drop. I was a little reluctant reviewing this place because it's a hidden gem. Want to keep it empty for myself ;) But, felt the need to write a review and give a shoutout to the wonderful employees, especially Kathy and Eddie. Came here on a Friday morning to do passports for three people. We had all our forms filled and documents ready ahead of time going into our walk-in, and so we were in and out within 15-20 minutes tops. Two thumbs up! read more

This place NEVER is stocked with forms or packing materials otherwise supplied by USPS. I went there this morning to mail a letter registered, which I could not do. No forms. Have to drive back later when the post office is open. Inefficient. This happens to me repeatedly, and usuaully I have to make 4-5 trips to various area post offices to accomplish a simple mail. SO FRUSTRATING! I also saw a maintenance dude wandering around on his headphones and yapping on the phone the entire time I was there. Must be nice to get paid to rock out and talk to friends, while patrons of the Post Office receive the short end of the stick on services. Why, exactly, did USPS hike fees? This is a great small post office in the back corner of Alamo Plaza between Round Table Pizza and Blockbuster Video. Friendly staff-especially a gentleman named George who knew many of the customers in line by name. He typically works the "stamps line", but graciously assisted others when the line started backing up. When it was my turn, he looked at the large box in my hand full of envelopes and beamed ear to ear. He said "oh, and what do we have here"....when I told him they were my wedding invitations he genuinely expressed excitement and then said he had perfect $0.59 love stamps for mailing and even helped me put all the stamps on the envelopes! Now this is what I call customer service! I will be back for sure! read more

This is in regards to passport services yesterday. After being turned away at 2:30 pm in Alamo even though it says passport walk in hours are till 3pm (they said it takes 50 minutes to process one passport) we decided to go to WC. They are open till 4. Hesitant we went. We walked in, the gentleman working was finishing up with a family. No one else in there. We waited about a minute for him to finalize the paperwork for the family ahead of us. He came back out,had us do what we needed to do, had our daughter take her picture and we were on our way. We were in and out of there in six minutes. But according to the passport liaison in Alamo it takes 50 minutes. No, it doesn't. Epic fail Alamo USPS. The amazing gentleman in WC who takes pride in his work with very little chit chat and pleasantries should be rewarded for his work ethic. Thank you! GO TO WC FOR PASSPORTS. read more

As Jackie R. and Mrs. Tam F. have aptly mentioned, this is a very friendly post office! The folks here are very courteous and I noticed a few of them recognized their "regulars", which is refreshing in the internet age when people barely know their own name, let alone remember others'! My only qualm with this location (and perhaps it is just my bad luck) there is always a line. Maybe people just gravitate to this location because of the excellent service, but it's a bit of a hassle when you're on a lunch break, so plan for enough time to get through the line. As far as post offices go, this one is fairly well updated. There are self-service postage machines in the lobby with the mailboxes and a wide assortment of collector stamps always on display at the kiosk on the left as you come in, and obviously remodeled, more modern looking counters. read more

It's horribly slow and employees treat you like an inconvenience. Today, the manager yelled at an elderly lady to "find another post office" if she does not like the service that she's getting there. It's obviously poorly managed and that filters through to everything else that they do. Sadly, it's probably still one of the better ones out there. read more

Quite a long wait, customer service is lacking.

I've had a couple of bad experiences at the counter while visiting this post office (long lines and disorganized staff) but the Automated Postal Station (or whatever you call it) never lets me down! The machine/staion is typically free. It's great for when I'm in a rush and need to mail a package in a hurry. I can drop in, complete the shipping process in less than 4 or 5 minutes and even buy some stamps if I need them! read more

I have lived in Alamo for over 50 years. Postal service was always fantastic, but over the last year it has really gone down. Most of the time our mail comes between 7:30 and 9:00 p.m. so that leaves the mail in my mailbox overnight. On the last two occasions I have had my mail held I returned to find mail in my mailbox. This never used to happen. The staff is wonderful, but there is one teller that just does not seem to understand how to process something without pounding the keyboard over and over and over. The machine in the lobby seems to by out of service more than in service. I have voiced my opinion to the postmaster but I have seen no change. read more

Horrible customer service and they have ZERO follow through. Opening a PO box has been a nightmare and I have not had it yet a week. They provided a box with the wrong key. Trying to get them to tell me what box I have is like trying to pry info on the coke formula... Amazingly bad. I would give them ZERO stars if possible. This post office makes mistakes constantly and claims that it is not their fault. Our mail is delivered to a locked communal neighborhood mailbox. There are mistakes made EVERY day. My kids are constantly shuttling mail to other people's houses and our neighbors bring mail to us. The postman also regularly leaves this lock box WIDE OPEN overnight and packages are stolen. However, if you start claims processes (I have done this twice), the post office will not pay. They once asked me to PROVE that a package was stolen from the mailbox that they left open. Emails to their management go unanswered. They just don't care. read more

Really, really, really slow service. There is one super friendly sounding guy, but they take everyone out of order and I don't understand their rationale for who they take in what order. I always assumed it was first come, first serve. Not sure why they need to reinvent the wheel with that. Once you get into the passport lady, she's nice. I live in Alamo and sometimes have to wait in line (don't we all) but the people are friendly, helpful and nice. If I have a problem with delivery it is quickly resolved. Today (Saturday) I was waiting for a package (medicine) and it didn't come so I called, even though they are closed a nice guy answered and said he would check with the carrier and if it's still on the truck will have someone backtrack and deliver it. Now that is excellent customer service!!! My meds were delivered just and I had to come back and say I am so pleased!!! read more

ANOTHER NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE .... RUDE EMPLOYEES, BROKEN EQUIPMENT AND AN ALL OUT BAZARRE ENCOUNTER - READ ON: This (12/12/13) morning a few minutes before 9 a.m. (opening time) I went in to use the self service kiosk to mail a package. Several people were waiting in line for the doors to open. I used the machine, posted my package and yet again, the bin door in which to place the package was stuck. This happens often. But what happened next floored me! I rang the doorbell. No one answered. I rang the doorbell again. Could hear people in the back saying "doorbell", then heard them laughing and saying "nobody's home". At one point someone even said "go away - no one is home" Now, mind you, the door wasn't all the way closed - but I still, like a dolt stood there and politely rang the doorbell. By this time there was a line of people behind me wanting to use the broken self serve kiosk. So, I opened the door from the doorway said, "Hey guys? the kiosk bin door is stuck again." A woman peeked through a hole in a wall of mail bins and looked at me. She said (to some unknown person) "someone is in the building." Then she walked up to me and I repeated that the door to the bin was jammed. A man told her to stop. He held his hand up to me and said "Ma'am, we have to call the police - no one is allowed to be in the building. We are supposed to call the police!" I said, "Okay, fine whatever, you people heard the doorbell, you laughed about it, we all can hear you saying no one is home - the kiosk bin door is stuck AGAIN - so here's my package." And I left. Who knows what they'll do with that package now. The ONLY DECENT EMPLOYEE AT THE ALAMO POST OFFICE IS A MAN NAMED GEORGE. The rest have no desire to be good at their jobs. Or at least put the man named George in charge of hiring / training / firing the employees. I tried to file a complaint via email and of course there are only multiple choice options - and NONE of them are for customer service or rude employees. There was a choice for broken equipment but no place to make comments - so - here you go, Alamo Post Office above are them. read more
