I am so sorry to leave the worst review I've ever given anyplace but let me explain. I loved this place and went here several times with friends and my Peruvian relatives. This was before COVID19 hit all of NYC and harmed the restaurant businesses along with everything else. I wonder if this is the reason why our food to celebrate Peruvian Independence Day didn't turn out very good.
We ordered a whole rotisserie chicken, tostones, tacu tacu, camote sancochado, fried yuca, aguadito de pollo, helado de lucuma, chicha morada, and an alfajore. All of the dinner food was salty (with the exception of just the tostones and camote), most of all the aguadito de pollo and tacu tacu. The aguadito was so salty that even my husband grimaced after taking one sip - and he can tolerate a bit of salt! The helado - even though it tasted good - arrived in a tiny plastic champagne cup that contained barely even one scoop of ice cream. It cracked when I tried to scoop the ice cream out to serve to me, my husband and a friend of ours. (Needless to say, it was embarrassing. Why wasn't the helado offered in plastic pint containers for take-out? We had no way to know based on the online menu that the portion was not even big enough for a baby.) The 1 star is for the chicha morada which was the only item that was very good.
Again, I loved this place but it obviously wasn't designed for take-out at all and the quality went way down since I last ate from here with my husband 4 years ago. I hope that the manager and owner of this review is reading this and taking this seriously.
