The service is always pretty quick here, even when I ask for my dogs to be well done. I love the decor inside of this place, because it's a throwback to an old time. Chicago era. The only thing I wish they do is get rid of their kiosks to order because I don't like when businesses replace employees with computers. That's my only gripe. The counters used to make the sandwiches were covered in bread crumbs and the barrier between the customer and employees was so dirty it looked cloudy. In fact all the windows and doors to this establishment were filthy. A fly continuously buzzed around happily undisturbed. Customers continued to come in and pick up their sandwiches then leave. Well for me this will be my first and last visit! The employees are young but I think a bit of customer service and maintenance training would be of great value to them and the community. We deserve a clean environment while we spend our dollars here. Oh and before I close they were quietly attentive to my sandwich request.

On June 20th, 2026, Substation has closed its doors after a fantastic run! Service- owner was always so personable and remembered a face! The staff was united because he build a community and special outings for employees. The memories were always posted on the wall. Ambiance- the owner and family made the seating and tables I recall.
