Seriously my favorite sandwich cafe but I wish they had more locations closer to me! I discovered Urbane Cafe when catering for my work clients in Bakersfield and I'm glad they opened additional locations. My favorite salad items are: Santa Maria BBQ chicken salad and The Ahi salad. Their focaccia bread is bomb! I thought I would like their cilantro chicken salad but it's a little plain. My favorite sandwich items are: The Club and UC Banh mi. We've been here many times, it's a nice casual place. Sandwiches are made fresh and it taste fresh. The bread for the sandwiches are made here too but I'm not absolutely sure about that. They have a soda/drink fountain so you get your own drinks. There a a few tables in the front, sidewalk side if you wanna eat outside. You can give the cashier your order or you can order yourself on two touchscreens right right next to the cashier. There were no cashiers so we ordered ourselves. No one was in line so we simply moved over two feet to the screens. Now, I can see where this will be confusing and possibly a problem when there are people in line. If there are people waiting to order with the cashier and you want to touchscreen it do you cut the line, or how? The touchscreens prompt you for tips too but I don't understand that as I did the order myself. Could be the tips are for the cooks? If that's the case you are tipping before eating, what if you don't like how she made the food, do you ask for your tip back, sorry, not sure how asking for tips first works. I like Urbane Cafe a lot! Their dishes are focused on lighter, healthier eating... the entree salads are always good and I like the sandwiches accompanied with a side salad. It's a great spot for a casual business lunch or catching up with friends. The restaurant is always clean and has comfortable seating and the noise level is low enough it's easy to have a conversation. I had the Cilantro Chicken Torta. From what I've seen and tasted they have quality ingredients that are used in their delicious sandwiches and salads. At first I thought the round bread they us was weird but on my first bit into the sandwich I was sold. My three favorite things I love here are The Southwest sandwich with marinated southwest chicken, avocado, corn & black bean salsa, pepper jack cheese, chipotle aioli. Their Salmon Salad with glazed salmon, chopped salad mix, mixed greens, edamame, diced jicama, mango salsa, sesame seeds. Bathrooms require a code but it's clean inside and the AC felt great!! My favorite is the Cranberry Brie sandwich - a great reminder of a thanksgiving dinner- that comes with a side of salad with vinaigrette dressing. I was in the area because I was going to the LA Fitness for a yoga class and decided to come here for dinner. I got the BBQ Tri Tip Sandwhich. This was really delicious! The beef was so tender and soft. The cheese was melted right on top of the tri tip. The BBQ sauce was tangy. The coleslaw balances out the sandwich really well. It all comes in between their soft focacia bread, which they cook in this big oven. It also comes with a salad that has little mandarin oranges and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. read more

The sauce came in a separate container on the side. The salmon was cooked but cold. I like that the seating area is clean. Ok I'm pretty obsessed with Urbane cafe !! It's crazy that I only just recently heard about it and live walking distance. The food options are great and there are many available. I have gotten the bowls and the sandwiches and both do not disappoint! The servings are pretty big and I'm always full after. You have to make sure to try their bread and cookies ! So yummy and fresh and warm. There is always plenty of seating and a parking lot in the back. They are also pretty quick with getting the food out and their employees are always nice and good with recommendations ! Definitely recommend and I will be coming back many times read more

Stopped by today for lunch, just to give this place another try. Someone from management did reach out to me after seeing my previous review which was nice- I'm glad they are paying attention to what's being voiced by their customers. I decided to try one of their bowls this time and use one of my rewards- the $10 reward on my app. There was a bit of a snafu with the app- when I clicked to redeem it in store, it said that I needed to register a card (which I found odd since most reward apps or services do not require that process, especially if they are going to redeem it in store). The cashier was very nice though and honored it for me because he saw my app as well to double check. Nevertheless, I ordered their special- the UC bowl and unsweetened iced tea and decided per usual to sit alfresco. Their outdoor patio was in much better condition- it was pretty clean :) It felt like deja vu though because the exact same couple that was sitting out side when I was there last time was also there- weird lol, they much eat lunch there everyday or something. My food came out pretty quickly and it was very tasty. The veggies were still warm and I loved the flavors together. It came with a focaccia which was nice but I was trying to limit my carbs lol so just had one bite for taste. It was okay, nothing to write home about (better as a sandwich). I liked the spicy bits of fresno chilis which gave it a little kick. All in all, a much better experience at Urbane Cafe. Hopefully they will resolve the issue with the rewards app though so it will be a more seamless process for clients in general. read more

I first discovered Urbane Cafe in Ventura like, 15 years ago and fell in love with the Bella Portobello sandwich back then. So I was thrilled to discover an Urbane Cafe in Pasadena and have been there multiple times when I've wanted a healthy meal. The breads are always amazing. The last time we were there (this past weekend), there was a problem with our order, and the general manager, Rigo, handled it beyond expectations. He not only comped our meal, but also offered us some cookies on the house (the cookies are amazing), and two vouchers for entrees for our next visit. Along with sincere apologies. Beyond expectations, and it was great to see a manager take responsibility for a mishap that happened, even if it wasn't personally his fault, nor (did it seem) was it the fault of anyone at the cafe. The chicken was a little dried and felt like it was more of a recycling ingredients from the sandwiches. Only complain is the lettuce can be chopped a bit more so it's easier on the fork.
