I have driven by the place quite a bit and decided to give it a try. It being a Sunday it was busy with many families enjoying an afternoon lunch. So I ordered the cilantro chicken salad. It was a really good and generous portion that came with fresh baked focaccia bread. The salad consisted of chicken breast, greens, black beans,corn, mozzarella cheese. Only thing I swapped was the Chipotle ranch dressing for the cilantro vinaigrette dressing and it was perfect. The restaurant is very contemporary, modern and clean. The staff were very attentive to its customers and were friendly. The manager was a very nice guy, making sure customers received their orders timely (it was very busy). He gave me a complimentary cookie (that is baked on the premises), that also was good and kind of him. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the items offered (soups, salad, sandwiches, pastries) and portion size. They even have vegetarian options and kid meals, and catering. I will return and I recommend Urbane Cafe to others. The comments about the food being expensive is not true the most expensive item I saw on the menu was $10.25 (lol). Many other items are less expensive than that. It you want cheap and cheap quality then stick to McDonalds $1 menu. read more

My favorite new spot on Lake Avenue. I love the salads that they offer and portion is generous. Best part of getting salad is the freshly made focaccia bread. Absolutely yummy. I've always been skeptical about sandwiches that cost more than Subway's premium offerings. Urbane Cafe has killed that skepticism. I tried the Santa Maria BBQ chicken and it was worth the risk. I want to give this place 5 stars because the food is yummy, but it's hard to give a place all the stars when they completely leave off the cranberry in your turkey cranberry sandwich. I was totally craving the turkey cranberry sandwich like I have been craving Fall weather, unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Focaccia bread is life. It is so soft and warm and chewy and just a bit salty. I had the Mediterranean bowl and the flavors went perfectly together. All the ingredients tasted very fresh and not overly filling. I will keep going back to try everything on the menu, especially those cookies. I have been coming to Urbane Cafe since I discovered it in June 2018. Sometimes I have gone once or twice a week. I always get the same thing. Kid's grilled cheese with salad and balsamic. It is the perfect portion meal. It is a comforting meal for me. I tried the pizza but went back to the grilled cheese. Same with the soup. The turkey sandwich. The grilled cheese is what makes me the happiest. It's the bread that makes the sandwich. Best when it's recently out of the oven. When it's not fresh fresh out the oven it's okay, endurable but not my favorite (when you try the bread hot out of the oven, then that's what always tastes the best). My husband gets the cilantro salad usually. One of my favorite go to places when I want a comfort meal. read more

A co-worker suggested having lunch here and looking for new catering options for Caltech I agreed to come. We arrived at noon and Urbane was already pretty full. Honestly surprised we were able to grab a table, after our arrival I noticed a lot of people hovering over occupied tables waiting for a seat. Ordered the Urbane Cobb, what I loved about their version of cobb was that it was served over mixed greens vs traditional ice berg or romaine. All ingredients were mixed in . The wedge of focaccia bread was delicious, soft, and warm. Co-worker had BBQ Trip tip salad. We both enjoyed our food. Service- Because of the lunch crowd, I found the service very attentive and friendly. They were quick to pick up plates of finished food. on a side note- my coworker noticed a fruit fly had fallen in my salad, crawling around. Thankfully it was on the opposite side of my bowl where i had started eating. Having found such fly, I immediately walked it over to the manager I was blown away by his service, in fact before i could explain to the manager my reason for walking the food back, he looked down at my tray and apologized profusely and with no questions asked replaced my salad, added a cookie and a certificate for a free meal. This place is great. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I love how they give you all the salad dressing you need. I'm not a big fan of the side salad that comes with sandwiches, though. My wife, daugther, and I tried this place for the first time today. My wife had the cilantro salad, daugther had the southwest sandwhich, and I had the Santa Maria BB salad. We all liked our food very much. By the taste you can tell that they use quality ingridients and that the protien is of quality. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food that you get. We are definitely are going back and would recommend it to anyone. If could change my experience, I would turn down the volume level on the music that was playing on the audio system because it was a little too loud. read more

I was so excited for the opening of the Pasadena location. I live in Los Angeles, but I am a frequent visitor of the Oxnard location. I absolutely love their sandwiches and salads. The new Pasadena location is in a good area and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food did not meet the Ubane standards. I ordered a Bella Portebello sandwich and the tomato was green and hard. There was no balsamic vinegar on the sandwich. I asked for a side of the dressing and it turned out to just be pure oil. I had such high expectations but I was so disappointed I didn't even finish the meal. Will try again in a few months in hopes that the cooks will do a better job after experience. read more
