Updating my review as Urban Wok was true to their promise and refunded our money. The extra dumplings were very tasty. I probably should've brought my dish back and asked them to replace it. I can recommend the dumplings for sure. If you find you don't have what you ordered and the taste profile seems wrong. Take it back and report it. they should be able to accommodate you fairly quickly. read more

My friend and I ordered Urban Wok via Uber Eats. I live nearby but we were busy so we wanted it delivered. They took so long to prepare the food that the driver we had canceled. When we did meet our courier he handed me a bag that looked like it would be too small to possibly have all that we ordered. Sure enough, my friend got his drink but no meal items he ordered. We then thought if it was a matter of the store just not putting everything together in a bag we could walk over and get it, but they refused to answer their phone. My friend called 3 times, the last time with the phone only ringing twice before hanging up on him. I then tried in case they were screening his calls and they didn't answer for me either. This same friend and I have walked in and ordered in the past, although a while ago, and it was always slow getting food we ordered. That refusal to even answer the phone speaks volumes about their customer service. I've never seen this location super busy but they've always taken forever to get food out, but the refusal to communicate and set a mistake right is honestly the biggest issue. read more

We happened into this great lunch spot on a sleepy and snowy Saturday while exploring the European Christmas market and were served nothing but the best customer service from Dan, the new GM. As we were the only folks in the space, he gave us the grand tour in helping us understand how ordering works, what they offer, and all of the options available for purchase food. The food was delicious! Both my husband and I finished all of everything we ordered and were so grateful for everything being so freshly made! We got to spend some time with Dan talking about the state of the business and how they are helping revive a local downtown building, which was cool to hear about the forward moving plans. We also ended up talking a lot about personal travel experiences which was a nice personable touch! Overall super excited to see some delicious food come to downtown and the revival of some of the historical buildings. We definitely come back again and again! read more

Urban Wok will be a one and done for me. We stopped in for take out dinner and learned it was Wing Wednesday - wings are $0.75. They weren't worth it. We tried a 6 pc boneless wing in both Korean BBQ and Blackberry Habanero. The coating was thick and mushy, no crispiness whatsoever. The sauce coating was tasty yet heavy. The Blackberry Habanero flavour was the best thing about the order - nice heat and sweet. The Korean BBaq flavor was a glorified ketchup. The chicken under the coating is fine - seemed to be breast meat and tender, but disguised by far too much mushy coating. To-go packaging is recyclable so that's nice to see. Ambiance is minimalist but pleasant, although the music was quite loud and polarizing for us. We won't return. read more

Choose one protein: chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu or veggie. I went with chicken. Choose one sauce. Seven choices. I went with Korean BBQ. Waited maybe five minutes and food was tasty. They will text you, email you or yell your name whenever your order is ready. Food comes out in a chow mein take out box. Take your choice of fork or chopsticks. Love their stir fry dishes - rice or noodles, choice of protein, tons of veggies and fresh, house made sauces. The portions are large enough to share, or to bring for lunch the next day. Their downtown Saint Paul location is 3 blocks from my apartment, so we almost never dine in. The space seems comfortable and laid back, and the service is great. read more

I get takeout from here twice a month and it is always great. My partner and I order very differently (I am more veggie/tofu heavy and he is more of a meat person) and both always enjoy it. The portions are very generous - I usually have lunch for the next day too - and my order is always spot on and ready very quickly after ordering. This place is so good!! I think the reason for some negative reviews is people making their own order and not choosing the best sauces, that's my only explanation because it's amazing. I've tried 3 different types and each have been really good. Did the butternut squash noodles and they were cooked perfectly and made me realize I could do life without noodles. I liked how late it was open too so that when I got off the Amtrak Train across the street I could order some food. The ordering process was a bit clunky with the self-order registers. A few times you had to tap "No Extra Protein" etc. I was hoping for personal recommendations, but luckily my food was great. Recommend eating the potstickers ASAP. I left it in the packaging for awhile and it steamed and became soft. Not at fault of the restaurant though. Overall I'll definitely be back! Due to food allergen problems, this is one of the only restaurants that I can eat at. They get orders wrong 1/2 of the time. Their phone numbers for their locations either drop the call or continue to ring without being answered. They act like they don't know about this and have been told multiple times. I had been waiting for this place to open for sooooo long so I was ecstatic to see the open sign. The owners was so welcoming, accommodating and helpful and the vibe of the place was awesome! I didn't feel like they were rushing me out of the door like other places might. The trick is to tweak your order.
