    Mongolian Beef

We were in the mood for something new, so we found this spot with great reviews on Yelp! Plenty of parking in the strip mall parking outside this shop. The space itself isn't huge, there's probably 6 booths and a few tables. It was pretty clear after we sat down, that they are SWAMPED with take-out and delivery service orders. That's usually a good sign for the food. The space is the weakest part of Mac Kitchen, as the walls are a bit dirty and the interior doesn't really have any decor. I might not bring a date or my in-laws here to impress them. Our server was DARLING the whole time. She was running in a bunch of different directions all night, but was super friendly and kept everything moving smoothly. Major kudos to her! Food was great value and very tasty! We started out with the egg rolls and cream cheese wontons. Perfect flavor, large portion, and served piping hot! I had the Mongolian Beef which was a sizeable serving with tender beef, tons of onions, and a lovely sauce. My partner had the shrimp pad Thai and also really enjoyed it! We will likely add this to our frequent order list, for either dine in or take out!

    Chicken Chowmein with Fried Rice

I needed cooked rice and every other Asian restaurant was closed as it was Monday. This was my only option. I got myself chicken chow Melin, fried rice, a side of white rice I needed for a recipe, and an egg roll. Great lunch menu options. My husband ate the egg roll and said it was the best egg roll he's ever had. My chicken was very dry. And there wasn't much flavor on my fried rice. If you want Asian food and it's Monday and everything else is closed, go here. Otherwise don't.

I like the friendliness of the service but I think they forget about us or perhaps rather not bother us too much. It's a basic strip mall joint with booths for seating. Food is okay, I've had better but it's more affordable than others in the same area so I'd come again. Also the are many varieties from Chinese to Vietnamese and Thai on the menu.

There is a good variety of Chinese, Hmong, and Vietnamese options (mainly pho). When I picked up my order the location appeared very clean and chill. I wouldn't mind eating in the restaurant. They also have kiosks where you order rather than ordering with a person, but someone was close to greet me and hand me my to go order. Onto the food, my friend ordered the sesame chicken with white rice. The portion is pretty good sized, unfortunately I don't have a photo. The sauce is very dark, and didnt really give sesame chicken as you'd probably expect from other sesame chickens in the twin cities. However it was a nice umami and cooked well. I enjoyed them, but it was not to my friend's taste nor what she expected. I ordered the braised pork belly special with purple sticky rice and Hmong sausage. The pork belly came with one egg, you can add more for an additional cost. The sausage comes with a spicy sauce, which you can also get extra for additional cost. The pork belly was soooo fatty. Like barely any fat rendering seems to have occurred and for being braised and fatty the meat was surprisingly dry/tough. The flavor was very sweet. It would have been nice for a bit more salty/umami to shine through. The egg was yummy, sauce penetrated the egg white pretty completely. Not sure how those are supposed to be in this particular dish, but it was a hard boil, not jammy or anything like that. The Hmong sausage was my favorite, very nice texture and flavor. The sauce is super spicy and pairs well with everything. The purple sticky rice was also perfect. Last, I added on a mango cheese bun which was fresh, lightly sweet, and delicious however it was not made from Vangz. It was pre packed from a St Paul bakery, so still local at least but I was expecting from their dessert options that those were made in house. Overall, the meal was decent. I purposely went with a special dish rather than a more popular choice because I like to show different options in my reviews. I hate when I can't find the whole menu in actual customer photos. If people are only ordering 5 items from you, that says something about your menu and overall food quality. I'm still curious to see what else Vangz has to offer before I write them off. I was torn between choosing the pork belly stir fry or crispy pork belly. I'd also love to try their pho. I will be back to try more and update my review :)

Food 5/5: we did AYCE. We got: Edemame, egg rolls, gyoza, corn cheese, Zuchinni, mushrooms, Miso soup, garlic shrimp, pork belly, ribeye, boneless short rib, skirt steak, and brisket. The marinated meats were my favorite along with the shrimp! I loved the pairing of the dry rub with both sauces, and the sauces definitely enhanced the flavor of the meats. Service 5/5: our server was very attentive and helpful. He asked if we wanted a demonstration which was helpful even though we knew what we were doing. They are quick to change your grill place when it gets covered, and I love the option of the avocado oil. Many other bbq places don't offer that. Ambiance 5/5: this place feels very fancy! Overall very spacious. The booth we were in was very comfortable. Overall a great option for AYCE BBQ! We loved our experience and will definitely be back.

The latter is one of my all time favorites from any restaurant, especially with some extra fried egg on it. I'd say the most important thing here is to look beyond the Korean fried chicken. They have so many other great and new (to me at least) items. I mentioned a few favorites. Another interesting one is the Mopo Corndog, mozzarella cheese covered with a breading that includes crunchy potato cubes. It sounds strange but it was really good. It looks like they've expanded their menu since I was there. But the fried rice and bao are just my go to order. I've only had pickup and I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes and the employees are kind. Food is hot and travels well. The only downside is it's a bit expensive, but it's worth it. FYI they don't advertise them but they do sell gift cards, I got one for the whole family last Christmas. It was definitely a favorite gift.

We grabbed seats at their tiny 4-seat bar, which turned out to be the perfect spot for the evening. The service was fantastic from start to finish with everyone on the staff attentive, warm, and friendly. We went all-in and ordered the Potsticker Feast ($95): two of every kind of potsticker they make, plus all four dipping sauces, Ribeye Noodles, Korean Wings, General Tso's Chicken, and House Cucumbers. The potstickers were awesome but given the name of the place I was surprised that the real standouts were the other dishes. The ribeye was perfectly marinated and tender, tossed with a variety of vegetables and stir-fried noodles. The wings were terrific and the General Tso's was perfect. Don't sleep on the cucumbers either...smoky, spicy, and sweet, with peanuts and sauce. My favorite potstickers were the Beef & Carrots and the Kimchi Pork. The server was very friendly and informative, even joked around with us a little. It didn't look like reservations were needed, except maybe on busy days like Mother's Day. The food was amazing. Potstickers were, of course, super good, but so was everything else. Portions were generous. I got the pork belly fried rice and I think I have enough leftovers for another three or four meals. There is a small parking lot in back, but you have to walk around the building to get to the door. I would say it is not handicapped friendly. If you park in back it would be hard to get to the door unless you are able to make it half way around the block. If you park in front it is just street parking. My dad uses a walker and we were lucky enough to get a spot right in front of the restaurant, anything else would have been a problem. Spacing inside the restaurant is pretty tight as well. Once dad sat down they had to take his walker into the back because there was no room in the seating area. We were packed in pretty tightly and very close to the table next to us. Overall, delicious food! We will be back!
