We got 8 potstickers (they were giving 4 to each person for free to celebrate). Mouthwatering. The potstickers are the best ones I've ever had. We usually go for the chicken curry. However, this time we got the butternut squash/ shrimp mix, and their new chicken teriyaki. All of them were so flavorful, I'm pretty sure they are fresh. You can never go wrong with anything here. I would recommend everything! The only note I would make is that this is a smaller restaurant. There isn't a lot of space for the demand. If you go, I would recommend making a reservation. If you don't, you will most than likely have to wait for a table to open up. The service is always great. This time our food took a very long time, especially our main dishes. We stopped in to Potsticker early Sunday evening and just barely beat the rush as every table was full by 5pm. The space is small and undeniably cozy. We grabbed seats at their tiny 4-seat bar, which turned out to be the perfect spot for the evening. The service was fantastic from start to finish with everyone on the staff attentive, warm, and friendly. We went all-in and ordered the Potsticker Feast ($95): two of every kind of potsticker they make, plus all four dipping sauces, Ribeye Noodles, Korean Wings, General Tso's Chicken, and House Cucumbers. The potstickers were awesome but given the name of the place I was surprised that the real standouts were the other dishes. The ribeye was perfectly marinated and tender, tossed with a variety of vegetables and stir-fried noodles. The wings were terrific and the General Tso's was perfect. Don't sleep on the cucumbers either...smoky, spicy, and sweet, with peanuts and sauce. My favorite potstickers were the Beef & Carrots and the Kimchi Pork. Finally was able to try this place during the 3 year anniversary celebration where they offered 4 complimentary potstickers. Tried the teriyaki and a pork and cilantro one flavors. The flavors were nice and the sauce on the side added something extra to it. This is a cozy local space that has seats at the bar, counter, tables and outdoors. I could go round and round and still feel like the most recent one was my new favorite. They were delicately prepared. Soft, moist, and glistening, they had that perfect crisp on the bottom. Went here on Mother's Day Sunday, had a reservation for 12:15. We got there a couple minutes early and were seated right away. The server was very friendly and informative, even joked around with us a little. It didn't look like reservations were needed, except maybe on busy days like Mother's Day. The food was amazing. Potstickers were, of course, super good, but so was everything else. Portions were generous. I got the pork belly fried rice and I think I have enough leftovers for another three or four meals. There is a small parking lot in back, but you have to walk around the building to get to the door. I would say it is not handicapped friendly. If you park in back it would be hard to get to the door unless you are able to make it half way around the block. If you park in front it is just street parking. My dad uses a walker and we were lucky enough to get a spot right in front of the restaurant, anything else would have been a problem. Spacing inside the restaurant is pretty tight as well. Once dad sat down they had to take his walker into the back because there was no room in the seating area. We were packed in pretty tightly and very close to the table next to us. It can get a little noisy in there when it's full! Our server Bo (green hair and tattoos) was fantastic and seemed to be singlehandedly holding the place together (bartending, running food, hosting, bussing, serving), whereas the rest of the staff were kind of wandering around doing random tasks like filling waters and lighting candles. We tried the pork kimchi potstickers and the beef, shrimp, and chive potstickers, both of which were a step up from your typical potsticker. The classic sauce was also quite good. They had a szechuan steak and frites special which was pure perfection. The fries were seasoned with a great combination of spices and the ribeye was ridiculously flavorful and tender! Stopped into Potsticker in Saint Paul and decided to go all in with their Potsticker Tour, which gives you two of every potsticker on the menu plus the four house sauces. On paper, it sounded like the ultimate sampler, and I loved the concept. In reality, the potstickers themselves were... fine. Not bad by any means, but nothing that made me stop mid-bite and say "wow." The variety was nice, though--meat, seafood, veggie, and vegan options--so everyone at the table could find something to enjoy. The sauces were the real game-changer. The gochujang sauce stood out as the clear favorite--bold, a little spicy, and the perfect balance of heat and tang. I could have dipped just about anything in it. The curry sauce, on the other hand, fell flat for me. It didn't have much depth and almost distracted from the potstickers instead of enhancing them. The other sauces sat somewhere in between, but at least there was variety. From there, things started to shine. The Surf and Turf Fried Rice was excellent--comfort food at its best. A generous portion that could easily be a standalone entrée, packed with both chicken and shrimp so you never felt like you were just eating filler rice. Savory, a little smoky from the wok, and something I'd order again without hesitation. The biggest surprise of the night? The Scallion Pancakes. They come three to an order for $12, which feels steep at first glance, but they were hands down the best thing on the table. Crisp and golden on the outside, soft and chewy inside, with just the right amount of onion flavor. They've clearly mastered this dish, and it stole the show. I'd honestly come back just for these pancakes and a side of that gochujang sauce. Overall, Potsticker is a fun spot with a creative menu. The potstickers themselves might not have lived up to the hype, but the sauces, fried rice, and scallion pancakes more than made up for it. The salad and scallion pancakes are still great; everything else seems to have fallen off. Twice I was told that they were out of things, one of which was listed as on offer on a chalkboard. The fried rice I had was very dull. Perhaps I've become more accustomed to a more complex fried rice that I have gotten from Thai restaurants. Visiting this restaurant was as a result of asking Google what was nearby. We'd never heard of Potsticker before. It was destiny that we found it. We ordered The Potsticker Tour for Two. The Tour is all potstickers and sauces. We also got the Pork Belly Fried Rice. The potstickers and sauce were all delicious. Each combination with the sauces were such a delight. I cannot say which were my favorites. Even with all of these wonderful dumplings and sauces, the star of the show, was the fried rice. THIS WAS THE BEST FRIED RICE, EVER!!!!!!!!! I do not type in all caps lightly. Everything about this fried rice was exactly what fried rice should be. It didn't need sauce or anything. The flavors are deep and balance. The pork belly has the fat rendered so that it melts into your mouth. On top of the fabulous food, the service was top notch. Even though I don't think you will need reservations, it's still a nice to have. 2. Great price. It was very convenient to get the sampler of all the potstickers, which was a great amount of food for two people. 3. Clean restaurant and clean bathrooms, with ample seating inside, and adequate street parking available. The only negatives I can call out is that you can easily get confused on which potstickers you are tasting when doing the sampler meal. I wish there were labels. Also, as this place is called potstickers, the menu is kind of limited in terms of other Asian cuisines.
