SERVICE/STAFF: The #1 thing that stands out to me about our experience was the family that owns and operates this business. The owner came to our table to check on us and get to know us a few times, her nephew waited on us and was so amazing, one of the family members bartends and others are involved. A cool interactive meal. There weren't many of us in the restaurant yet we were left by our server for about 40 minutes. We had to ask for our check and ended up being late for our show. Went with 6 other girlfriends last night for dinner. It was a great place , fun and tasty. We had little idea what hot pot. The waiter who was charming had more them patience for us older women. Every question was answered and explained very well. Later the manager, Lee came out and spent quite a while with us, helping us cook our food. I chose to order Al a carte and probably ordered too many vegetables. I started with the chicken seafood broth and noodle combination and beef with added veggies. It was very tasty. We all had so much fun. It was so different from anything we have done before. The parking is a bit hard but well worth the work. read more

At this point I am comfortable referring to this as my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. They've reopened after a pandemic-era hiatus, and now they are an awesome hot pot restaurant! I loved their food before, but now that they are making hot pot the centerpiece of their menu I have even more reasons to recommend them. They have five specific hot pot options, which you can customize and add to. I'm all about the Sichuan Spicy Beef, but I recently brought a strictly-vegan friend here and he raved about the Herbal Vegan Tofu hot pot. They also have the same Salt and Pepper Tofu appetizer that I've loved for years. A lot of restaurants have good service, but there are very few places I've been to in my life where the staff were as likeable as this group. In addition to being extremely professional (visits from the chef, checking on your satisfaction, are normal here in my experience), they feel like neighbors. My friends and I feel sincerely liked by everyone here. And the sauces! They have several sauce options, and they have some new recipies which are impressive! The spiciest ones are VERY spicy, but whether you like the spice level or not, the variety and quality is awesome. The decor is really nice; they've gone to a lot of effort to make this a pleasant environment to spend time. If you're new to hot pot, this is probably the best way to be introduced to this immersive (good word choice there eh?) dining experience. They will guide you and make sure you're "doing it right". I was a bit surprised, but this place passed the Viet parents vibe check! I think there's something for everyone, but this review is for the Viet homies looking for more traditional, homecooked flavors. I am also incorporating feedback from my very picky parents. Sorry I forgot to take photos! DON'T JUDGE THE MENU TOO HARD We were a bit nervous about the absence of the Viet restaurant classics, but in their defense they don't explicitly advertise as a Viet restaurant. We asked lots of questions and learned the Vietnamese names of some of the dishes, which was helpful. SUPERB CUSTOMER SERVICE The folks who run the restaurant are SUPER friendly and chill. The interactions weren't weird or forced, and we didn't feel like anyone was trying to sell us anything. I don't need exceptional customer service like that, but in this case it really added to the experience! VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN FRIENDLY This is a very vegetarian and vegan friendly establishment. If you're not sure what your options are, just ask. The uncle told us they're very accomodating and can make veg versions of pretty much anything on the menu. OUR FAVORITES: Vietnamese coffee / cà phê sữa đá: you can tell the coffee was slow dripped properly. It had depth of flavor and wasn't too watery. It was the correct shade of brown (IYKYK), which is an indicator of good coffee to condensed milk ratio. Condiments: my parents really respect their chili oil and sauce game. Well made condiments can make or break a meal, so I thought this was worth mentioning. Pickled vegetables: came with the ribs entree. Nice balance of sweet and sour, and good texture. I also liked that it wasn't just pickled carrots and daikon. Vietnamese grilled ribs / cơm sườn: Nice and sticky, caramelized meat, perfectly charred. A lot of Viet restaurants only serve pork chops (which I like too) so ribs is a treat! Bánh khọt: a rare find in our local Vietnamese restaurant scene! They're savory mini pancakes topped with shrimp and scallion oil, and you eat them with veggies, herbs, and dipping sauce (nước chấm). Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I loved how coconuty the batter was. Creamy coconut noodles / bánh tầm: another rare find around these parts! This is a sweet and savory dish from Vietnam's Mekong Delta region. Traditionally, it comes with shredded pork rinds, but the uncle told us they left it out to accomodate more American palates. I don't think it blew my mom's mind, but she was happy just to see it on the menu and eat it. I enjoyed it, although it's more of a snack/sort-of dessert as opposed to a filling meal. If you're not familiar with this flavor profile, I would recommend ordering other things as well so your dining experience doesn't hinge on this lesser known dish. Seafood hotpot: there aren't many Vietnamese hotpot options out here! Sure, you can get bigger bang for your buck elsewhere, but if you specifically want Vietnamese or Southeast Asian hotpot this is a solid choice. The broth alone was very flavorful, filling, and comforting. The seafood was on the same level as other hotpot places I've been to around here. read more

I'm really torn with how to feel about Jasmine 26. The space has been really nicely updated with all new decor and tables, the service was outstandingly warm and welcoming, and the food was high quality and tasted great. Easy 5 stars it would seem! The issue is pricing here. Each personal hotpot starts at ~$20, and comes with a small plate of meat, noodles, and veggies depending on which one you order. We tried the Tom Yum and Classic Szechuan broths, and both were great. If you have a modest appetite and are ok with how the sets come as-is, I'd say it's a strong value. However, upgrading to all-beef (beef and chicken mixed is standard) is an upcharge, and since the base comes with only 7 pieces of beef, you'll likely want to order another plate for ~$5. If any appetizers or a drink catch your eye, you're looking at $45 out the door--typical hotpot pricing--for a fairly small number of items by hotpot standards. If Jasmine 26 existed in a vacuum where you couldn't go to other all you can eat hot pots in the city (Little Szechuan on University or Kung Fu hotpot also in Uptown) for a similar price, or other personal pot places (Tasty Pot in Dinkytown) for half that price, I'd recommend this wholeheartedly. As it stands, unless you really want to try some of the Vietnamese-inspired broths, Jasmine 26 doesn't offer the best value proposition. I have no issue spending a lot on food, but when other places do it better and cheaper, it's tough to feel good about it. I truly hope they do well with this new concept though, as the service was truly fantastic and I love to see the growth of restaurants like this in the city. read more

We picked Jasmine because we could get individual hot pots and everyone could have the spice level they wanted, the broth they wanted. The staff was very friendly, several different people coming to check on us a few times during the meal. They were chatty and fun. The food was delicious. We all tried different things, some had beef, some had, seafood,some had chicken. There are plenty of vegetarian options, and you can customize what you want in your hot pot. We had some green beans for an appetizer and a few in our group. Don't like anything spicy so we ordered them mild. Even so they had a lot of flavor. When we saw that they were running a BOGO hotpot deal we knew that we had to head over for dinner. We started with the veggie egg rolls and they were perfectly crunchy and delicious. For drinks, I got the paradise cove served in a fun pineapple and liked it, but the best drink at the table we all agreed was the mai tai! I ordered the tom kha broth and it was so great I near finished the entire bowl! I was skeptical at first that they came pre-built, but everything worked great and the option to order extras was nice. I have gone multiple times to Jasmine 26 and knowing I have gone multiple times pretty much sums up how good this place is. I am not the biggest fan of Hotpot to be honest, but after eating at Jasmine 26 my view of Hotpot has changed tremendously. My favorite Hotpot from the menu is the Tom Kha. It is extremely flavorful and it makes me salivate every time. At Jasmine 26 everyone has their own little Hotpot, so you can customize and flavor it to your own liking without worrying about others. In my opinion I prefer this method of Hotpot more than the large shared Hotpot. Even if you do not like Hotpot, Jasmine 26 offers other delicious appetizers/entree options like PadThai, Sriracha Fried Rice, & my favorite the Salt and Pepper Tofu. Their menu is constantly changing, so my friends and I always go back a few times a month to see what is new. Not to mention this place is also vegan friendly. The decorations of the restaurant is simply stunning! I remember going during their soft opening and the restaurant started off quite bare, but now it has beautiful decors everywhere. They have individual hot pot here around $20 to start. The portion they give you with the standard pot is not a lot, so expect to order more sides. The flavors were all really good. I wish they had a sauce bar to make your own, but they do give you a few sauces for the table that are not bad. The service was pretty slow when we went, took quite a while just to get raw veg, but everyone was very nice. I am obsessed with the spot. It is located on the Eat Street area of Minneapolis and it has some street parking which is free but it usually is busy so just a heads up. Two of my friends and I braved the downpour and a river of flooding water to try Jasmine 26 last night. We were greeted with the smiling face of our hostess as soon as we walked dripping through the door and immediately were seated. We started with Proseco and cocktails, and then ordered Asian sticky ribs, spicy green beans, spicy tofu, fried rice, and curry Snapper. Every single item was fantastic. Throughout the meal I think every member of the staff (family?) came by to check on us. We will definitely go back! I have only one small suggestion. Would give a negative star if I could. I wanted this place to be good. Really, I love Eat Street and all the glorious options that hungry diners have to choose from. This place, however, is not one of them. The fact that the place was practically empty - save for the bar - should have been a clue. My husband and I wanted to try something new. We selected Jasmine 26 based on the Yelp reviews. Either something has gone horribly wrong or there's a problem in the universe. Our experience was awful and we won't return; diner be warned! We were greeted by someone (the owner? The manager?) immediately upon entering the restaurant and seated way off the beaten path. It wasn't clear why we were placed so far away. The choice of location only compounded the poor service, I fear. This person visited every other table in the establishment throughout our visit but never returned to our table. A bad sign? Meanwhile our server was enthralled by the customers at the bar, so much so that we were gathering our things to leave when she troubled herself to stop over. Admittedly I was not pleased at this point but really tried to blow it off as a Friday night after a long week. Nonetheless, while enthusiastic, our server was highly inattentive and terribly inefficient. I was tempted to order doubles just to keep the drinks coming at a manageable pace. We ordered the spring roll appetizer. I LOVE spring rolls. I can make a whole meal out of spring rolls. But not these spring rolls. These were definitely 'sprung' and past their prime; gummy, tacky and tasteless, my three least favorite Stooges. I held onto my $6 house pour wine and hoped that things would improve. Alas, hope was not enough. My husband ordered beef pad thai that was lacking in taste, texture and color. The beef was grey. Was it boiled or bad? Who knows? It was unappetizing and unappealing. I ordered the Basil Noodles which came with its own style of fun: Let's play "Where's the Basil?" If I hadn't known what I ordered, I could not have guessed that basil was even listed as an ingredient (let alone the headliner). Greasy, sloppy, basil-less; yuck. Disappointing doesn't begin to cover it. Next time we'll follow the crowds and queue up someplace with better food and service. read more
