Ho Fan was a decent experience, we grabbed lunch one day to go. Pretty long line so figured it would be really good. It was okay. They were out of a lot of options as well which didn't help but what we did get was just very run of the mill Asian food. Staff was friendly enough just not super helpful with what was available or not. Waited extra for the Lo mein noodles just didn't have any flavor. Generals chicken was solid. Would maybe try again if they had more options available. Good prices and a ton of food just not great quality and lacked flavor depth. read more

Ho Fan is a fast, friendly, above-average Chinese and Vietnamese spot in the St. Paul skyway. They have a variety of vegetarian dishes, all of which are vegan by default. You can't go wrong with any option, but l liked the tofu with broccoli, and the tofu with black beans ($10 for a lunch special). You get a large heaping of the dish over a couple pounds of white rice. If Ho Fan had more noodle dishes or banh mi, I'd be there all the time. As it stands, this is one of the best spots to get an office-worker lunch in the St. Paul skyway. read more

Hi Fan was a great surprise to me! I was just passing through this area, and happened upon a little food court of sorts. There was an incredible selection. We opted to try the egg foo young and general Tsaos shrimp. Both were phenominal! The ladies were sweet, and accommodating. The only downfall was their signage. They had SO many offerings, in so many categories, the handwritten Signage made it kind of overwhelming. read more

This spot has some of the best fried rice in the Twin Cities. They are doing it up Vietnamese style! They have Pho in many different options. The staff is really nice their menu has options for everybody. I suggest you take some time out of your day and go bless yourself. read more

Ordered through Door Dash and was happy with try order. I ordered the Kung Pao beef and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was delicious and kind of had a sweetness to it. The Kung Pao beef had a wider variety of veggies in it than is traditional but I appreciated it. They put the spicy sauce in a separate container for delivery, which I totally missed, so it had 0 spice, but that's my fault. I would probably order again! read more

Quick, easy lunch. I have only had the pot stickers and beef pho here. The Pho tasted fresh, the broth was savory and had a medium umami flavor (before sauces/enhancements), the beef was tender, and the bean sprouts and jalapenos were fresh. Ho Fan is in a prime location (about a 5 minute walk from each combined skyway) right across from Caribou Coffee. Today was my second visit, and I must admit i regret it. My first visit was last week, i had a craving for egg rolls. I ordered 4 egg-rolls and was quite pleased with the quality and portion size of the food I received. Today was a different story. I slightly felt harassed while looking at the menu, and ended up getting something I had no intention in getting. A lady continued to offer me a multitude of options when I only ordered egg rolls, and even after telling her I was fine she pestered me with choices until I finally caved. She belongs somewhere in sales. My food was beyond disappointing. It was unbearable. I ordered the chow mein w| fried rice and 2 veggie egg rolls. The egg rolls were disgusting! Not only were they more than half a size smaller than my original experience, they appeared to be rushed and sloppily made. No love, or passion put into them. The celery in the chow mein wasn't cooked long enough, and most pieces were hard and crunchy, just warm. It taste like someone nuked celery in a bowl of watery gravy for 55 seconds. I spent $12 for lunch, NOT INCLUDING a beverage, just to not finish the platter and to give the egg rolls away. What a waste of time and money. I will not be going back. read more

I really like the vermicelli rice noodle dishes at Ho Fan. I typically get the Special Vermicelli salad or the Special Singapore Noodle. Both are loaded with chicken beef and shrimp (the salad has an egg roll too). This is one of my all-time favorite places to visit for good food in the St Paul skyway! read more

My favorite place for Asian food in the St Paul skyway. HUGE portions, and quick, friendly service. If you come between noon and 1 it may seem a little chaotic and you won't know how to order or where to stand, just ask someone standing there, most will be regulars. I tend to stick with a few items (there's a lot to choose from!), my faves are the lo mein, fried rice, pho, and as of today, the vermicelli salad. It's as delicious as it is pretty. I grabbed some pho and spring rolls at lunch today and, holy cow! I wasn't expecting so much flavor in a skyway pho broth. It was wonderful and limey!!! I've only eaten the "Special Pho" here, but I get it at least once a week. I'm just happy that I can actually get Pho for lunch without having to drive anywhere. Food is made on the spot. Ho Fan is a skyway lunch joint. Likely only open from like 11am to 2pm Monday thru Friday (though don't quote me on that - just an assumption that it operates like other skyway lunch places). I had veggie lo mein, sesame chicken and white rice for lunch here recently. It was okay. I liked the lo mein more than the chicken. It didn't rock my world, and I won't make a point to go back here, but I ate all my food and was happy with what I got for what I paid for. After many years of picking the other Asian food outlets over Ho Fan, I finally stopped in. They have a large selection of vegetable based entrées, and I was going through a phase. Before I knew I was a 'regular'. Now, Thursday is my Pho Day, I get the Special and it is filled with noodles, shrimp, beef and chicken. The family likes Ho Fan too. I'll occasionally get a text saying "Bring home Pad Thai!" or whatever everyone is craving. The staff are friendly and helpful to those who can't seem to make up their mind on what to get, or if there are questions on how the food is prepared. Try it. read more

Overall- not a bad place to go for a quick lunch. I had the sesame chicken with fried rice and a side of wontons. The wontons were fabulous! The chicken was a little over cooked for my taste. Service was okay- they were fast to get my order but the lady who rang me up spoke VERY quickly, and with a confused look on my face I handed over my money (with no idea as to how much it was going to be....???) If I could give this place a zero or negative star I would. Horrible service. The order taker, gave me the wrong dish, told me I ordered it wrong and to order it right next time. I used to be a regular customer. Place is close, reasonably priced, food good. Like the egg rolls. That changed on my last visit. I did not want rice because I throw most of it away. Was given two items. Expected to pay less cause i got less. Was charged the same as if i got rice. When i asked the lady why the price didn't reflect less food, she responded in that rude high pitched voice. Really couldn't understand what she said. I did know i was pissed off. What a bitch! You dont treat a regular customer that way. Haven't been back since. Avoid this place. Owner has no concept of fairness. A friend asked for cup of water. He was told cup costs 50c. It was pretty late one day that other restaurants are closed. The good thing is Ho Fan is still open at 5:50 pm. I ordered a chicken pho. It doesn't taste like pho and the soup tastes sour. It was the worst pho I ever had. I asked the guy why it tastes weird and sour. He said he squeezed lemon juice into it. well. It is skyway lunch Chinese food. Nothing special, but it will do in a pinch and it is inexpensive. They serve you quickly here. You can get pre-made dishes sitting in warming trays or get dishes that are cooked to order. Getting things cooked to order is definitely the way to go if you eat here. read more
