    Chicken pho

There was no wait to get in, straws and chopsticks ready at the table, simple menu with one size pho, and points for the waitress who knew to ask if we wanted chili oil for the pho! I don't eat pho unless it is good, and this place is a good to. The broth was a little sweeter today but it balanced out with all the fix-ins. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is quiet and chill/relaxing, with a pretty good parking lot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Great spot in the Western burbs for your vietnamese fix. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great atmosphere with a clean and remodeled interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Wonderful friendly service with a smile. Order: Bun bo hue (spicy pho). But don't worry its not too spicy. You can add more jalapenos if you want. Rich creamy beef broth. Add a squeeze of lime to brighten things up and cut thru the richness. All the meats were delicious and tender. Squeeze the Sriracha and hoisin sauce on the side plate to dip the meats in. Great freshness from the Thai basil and bean sprouts. Overall: Definitely will be back. No need to trek all the way to eat street and battle traffic and parking. You will not be disappointed.

Classic Pho - rich, aromatic broth, tender slices of beef, fresh herbs, and rice noodles--comforting and full of flavor.

Stopped in at Gion and was pleasantly surprised! Service was quick and friendly, and the food really hit the spot. I had the fresh spring roll and classic pho--both were super fresh and flavorful. The pho broth was especially comforting and well-balanced. Definitely coming back for both dishes again soon!

don't we all crave pho on rainy days? what we NOMd: oyster wings + pho (dine-in) + egg rolls + chicken rice dish (takeout) - the oyster wings were yummy and had a nice sticky glaze. - they are GENEROUS with the portions i wasn't expecting a big ass bowl of pho but was not disappointed. the broth was very light. for the size and price its great. - their egg rolls were decent - the chicken rice plate was good. just a good balanced meal and again generous with the portion size - HELLAAAA rice. I wish there was more lettuce though service, etc.: [[HIGHLIGHT]]mom and pop shop vibes. uncle was nice, welcoming and tentative to everyone![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the pho came out pretty quick, but the wings took a little long - my sister was almost done with her bowl when they came out. will be back for pho cravings that don't feel packed with msg and those oyster wings

Don't miss out on this hidden gem! I first went here for their banh mi and Vietnamese coffee. I keep going back to try new things! The food here is so delicious, high quality with authentic flavors. This time I got Chicken pho to go with 2egg rolls and some crispy shrimp roll ups. They weren't the shrimp appetizer I had in mind but still crispy and yummy. The pho was just what I needed on this cool grey fall day. I stopped in and ordered everything to go. I got friendly, efficient service and it was ready before I knew it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm impressed with their new signs and logo![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They still have cozy booths and large tables with lots of seats so bring your friends![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice, clean, open space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Go get some Vietnamese food tonight!

My husband and I went to Gion Restaurant at about 6:30pm on a Friday night. The restaurant was not too busy, I would say that about half of the seating area was filled, but we did see a lot of take out orders going out the door. I suspect that is how they do most of their business. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and very efficient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were employees buzzing all around, serving food, clearing dirty dishes, resetting tables when someone left, sending out the takeout orders - they were very good. They were also very attentive, at the end of our meal, after they brought the bill, I turned around in my chair to see if I needed to go to the counter to pay. One of the employees saw me turn and came rushing over to see what I needed. Excellent service. (I did not in fact pay at the counter, he took the payment at our table.) Even with all of this efficiency we did not feel rushed at any point during our experience. We ordered food and our food was served quickly. My husband had the Chef's Special Pho and he said it was very good. It had a tasty, beefy broth, nice fatty brisket, the tendon was slice nice and thin, everything was very good and had a lot of flavor. I had the grilled chicken bahn mi and oh my goodness! I have never had such a good bahn mi sandwich. It was SO good. The chicken was tender and grilled with some sort of delicious sauce on it. It was so good I ate the whole sandwich, which is rare for me, I usually only eat half. There was a lot of space for parking, the restaurant is in a very small strip mall. I don't remember if there was a ramp up the curb, but I would say it is pretty handicapped accessible. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was good as well. There was good lighting, it was clean, there were booths on both sides of the restaurant, with several tables in the middle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were 2 TVs, but only one of them was on, playing some sort of YouTube videos about oriental restaurants, the volume was very low if it was on at all. We weren't really paying attention to that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was relaxed and family friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, basically an excellent experience. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to friends and family.

So i'm a pescatarian, I ordered the seafood pho with veggie broth. so delish.

THEY HAVE VEGGIE PHO, and not with chicken broth but with veggie broth. The pho had amazing flavor. I recommend this place 1000%. the service was wonderful. I could eat here every day. I went on my lunch break. the parking is right in front of the restaurant. So they have a nice lot and plenty of parking.

Went on a rainy day as was craving Pho- 1st time here and was happy! The classic Pho was excellent- the broth was perfect for my taste buds not sweet at all - they only have one size large so would definitely get it to share next time!!!! Also got the pork Banh mi- pretty good but not a ton of filing The restaurant is small but clean and tidy and the staff are all wearing gloves when handling the food so liked that Adding to my list for pho places when that craving hits!! Parking - located in a strip mall

I made it through work my head throbbing and congested and immediately thought of of the warm comforting and flavorful broth of the wonton noodle soup! The broth came in one container and then the rest is piled in a box steamed wontons, jalapeños, green onions, pork and noodles. Also I wanted egg rolls then noticed for a few more dollars could get the egg roll salad plate which is delicious and came with peanut, carrots, lettuce and cucumber and bean sprouts everything I've had here has been good! I ordered online and the order was ready even before the expected time! I just walked to the back desk and was greeted right away. Keep up the great work!! I also noticed some updates since I had last been. Also 36th off of 169 was closed so if you're coming from there take 42nd or medicine lake

Spring rolls and classic pho, also had the basil stir fry! Great meal! $38.37 after tax before tip!

I had the bun bo hue and it was amazing. The perfect level of spice. The broth was so complex in flavor. Service is ok nothing exciting. Lots of space for parking.

I got the chance to try a new pho place since I moved out to the west metro area. My favorite pho spot back in Saint Paul is IPho by Saigon and I can say Gion Restaurant will suffice for my new pho spot! I ordered the chicken pho and my partner ordered the Bun Bo Hue. I currently have a cough and my throat has been killing me but the warm broth soothed my throat! The broth alone is on the sweet side, I added my usual bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, lime juice, siracha, and hoisin sauce. I usually too will add chili oil but they did not have any at the table. However it was delicious nonetheless. I enjoyed all the cilantro in the broth as well. The bun ho hue was tasty, it is a spicy noodle soup with a thicker noodle and beef slices. All we added to this noodle was the bean sprouts, squeeze of lime and cabbage provided. It was delicious and had the perfect amount of heat. Service was alright, the servers were nice however we did wait awhile to receive our waters. This was a bit of an issue for me since my throat was aching and needed some replenishing. We also ordered the Saigon chicken wings that arrived at our table as we were wrapping up our bowls of soup so that was a bit disappointing. The wings were hot and tasty so we did appreciate this after receiving them so late. Next time we will possibly order an appetizer if we are hungry enough but we might just stick with our bowls of pho. One thing that did surprise me was that a bowl was $11. At my usual spot it is usually 9 or 10 and has size options you can select from. Regardless, we will be back and hope to explore various other items from the menu!

Well thinking I would go to Pho Hua instead, I pulled intonthe Shuang Hur Grocer's parking lot thinking I'd grab a few things before heading north on Eat Street. Then I saw signs on the Shuang Hur building for a (new to me) Vietnamese joint in the same building. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! My Huong is an 8-top hole in the wall across the parking lot from the rear of El Nuevo Mariachi Restaurant. The place is homely, small, but brightly lit and plenty of day light through the picture windows overlooking Eat Street. It's a big contrast to Pho 79 type places that are dim and short on ambience. The clientele shows. Instead of just a bunch of Asians throwing down Pho, it's a mix like you'd see at Quang or Eat Street Crossing. I was seated right away, was greeted by a cheery Vietnamese lady, and ordered Hu Tieu Bo Khu (Beef Stew Noodle Soup.) It was a dish I haven't seen before even though I have been to so many Vietnamese places (see my other reviews and lists.) The dish came very quickly, and I was shocked that they didn't bring it with a veggie plate. Oh well. Well the best way I could describe Hu Tieu Bo Khu, its basically a pot roast over noodles. So the beefy broth like a less spicey version of Bun Bo Hue, with flavors of lemongrass and star anise, nicely garnished already with what would have been on a veggie plate. The broth was delicious, slightly sweet with the carrots, and the beef was fall apart amazingly stewed with deep flavor. There were other menu items like Curry Chicken pho and a Stewed chicken rice dish I'd have to return and try!

I had to taste the banh cuon since that is a weekend specials and not easily found in restaurants. It did not disappoint. The nuoc mam was perfect. Filling was good but I wish there were more fresh herbs for garnish. Bun Bo hue was filled with meat and protein!! I can't believe how much was in there. I normally don't like a ton of meat but this was so tender I ate it all. Pho was good. Broth had a strong star anise flavor but I like that. The mi hoanh ton soup was good but not the best. The wontons were huge! I appreciate the amount of protein in it. Cream cheese wontons flavor was good, wish there was more than 4 pieces per order though. Nem nuong serving size was pretty small. Salmon rice was good, we were able to add eggs for $4. The chili oil is very hot so be careful how much you add. 4% discount if you pay in cash. Gratuity added for parties of 5 or more. Easy to grab to go at the front if you are in a rush. We grabbed more to go after we ate too. The tri color dessert was ok, not my favorite but I liked the sweetness of the coconut milk in there. We grabbed a banh mi that was ready to go and that was good! Bread was crispy, but maybe too much bread ratio to filling. Banh bao was massive too, expensive for $8.

My go to order now that my diet has shifted is wontons & chicken fried rice - add med. spice and no chicken. I know chicken fried rice with no chicken sounds crazy but I don't like the veggies in the veggie rice and I really love the flavor of the chicken fried rice without the chicken.
