I've ordered from On's dozens of times and they honestly deserved this review a lot sooner. Everything I've ever eaten from On's is authentic, delicious and bursting with flavor. I've tried numerous menu items, including their Laab, Pad-ga-pow, mango salad, pineapple curry, pad Thai and Prik Prik Moo Grop. There's another dish I've tried there that seems it's no longer on their menu but it was a curry seafood dish served in an actual coconut. It was amazing! My favorites so far are the mango salad and pad Thai. The #70 Moo Grop dish is a close one for top picks but my only complaint is the pork chunks weren't my preferred texture. The sauce, however, is a show stealer. I could literally drink it! It's that good. I've personally never had a negative eating experience with Ons but my husband did complain to me about their pineapple curry. He orders his food at the spiciest level, and I only ever tried a bite of his, but he thought it was very sour and tasted pickely. It was not the best curry I've had but I didn't think it was bad. I'm a seasoned Thai food eater - it's basically all I eat. So I've tried all of the Thai spots in the twin cities. On's is sitting in my top two. I've never eaten inside the restaurant so I can't say much for the service, but I have been in the restaurant to pick up orders and there isn't much to say for its ambiance. It's a very casual setting. My only complaint about Ons is that they serve their curry in shallow containers which makes for smaller portions. If they served their curry in soup containers and gave larger portions, they'd be my go-to spot every time. Right now, my other favorite Thai spot has them beat on curry portions. Tried a new spot solely based on Yelp photos and reviews. I was craving a mean wonton (or three) and this was the spot that I decided on. When I drove by, I wasn't sure if they were open because it was so dark inside and we didn't see an open sign. I tried the spring rolls, pad see ew and the order of the wontons. I absolutely LOVED the spring rolls. They tasted fresh, and I enjoyed the basil in them. When I come back this is a must for me. The wontons were good and spiced well, but not my favorite out there. The main dish, pad see ew, got a lot of compliments so we went with that dish. I really enjoyed that as well - flavors of basil and ginger paired well with the thick noodles and veggies. I added chicken for $2 and I thought there was a generous potion of protein added for that amount. Was enough for me and my partner to share and had some leftover. My first visit to On's Thai Kitchen was a pleasant surprise. I was on my way to another retailer down the street and passed by OTK. I went in for lunch. A lengthy menu of edibles and also a sizable cocktail menu. Setting aside the cocktail menu I chose the Massamun Curry. It had the vegetable and flavors I was looking for. Many protein choices available in this sweet and sour curry. I chose the imitation crab. The waitress asked for a spice level on a scale of 1-10 and I chose 5. It did not disappoint. The curry was flavorful, the chunks of potatoes, onion and crab large. The pineapple provided the touch of sweetness. The curry included a side of white rice. It was mid-afternoon when I visited. The restaurant was not crowded, but apparent to me that it was a favorite of those who were dining there. I chose my own dining location and picked a spot along the windows which featured bench seats with chairs on the otherside of the table. Personally I thought the tables were a bit too far away from the bench on my side. When I visit again I will choose a booth or another table where I can pull myself closer to the table. Unassuming from the outside, the inside is painted a deep red with dim lighting and an array of comfy booths that give each meal an intimate and cozy vibe. Finally made it to On's Thai. First of all I have to say that the stuffed chicken leg is so unique and so good! I'm thinking it must be quite a process however it is totally worth it. This looks like a chicken leg. You can pick it up and eat it or eat it with a fork and knife. The outside skin is crispy. The inside is diced chicken, mushrooms and noodles. Really tasty. We also ordered their chicken pad thai, drunken noodles, panang curry and of course some wontons. Their chicken pad thai was solid. I really like anything with rice noodles so their drunken noodles was a hit. The panang curry was rich and had great depth, however had too much ginger for my taste and how can you go wrong with deep fried cream cheese goodness. Happy to have finally tried On's Thai. I was recommended to try On's by a friend who loves Thai food. I don't venture towards St. Paul often - but I finally ordered takeout today. First off - I love spicy dishes - so I was excited by the spice range. I typically hear of "1-5" with 5 being "Thai hot" at most places. On's has two additional levels - Thai Hot Hot and Hot Hot Hot. I'll admit it... I chickened out and only did the "Thai Hot Hot" because I had never been before. The flavor of the dish was great and the heat was there, but I definitely think I could've handled the highest. Anytime I go Thai I target something with a combo of peppers, onion, and jalapeños. I don't think I've ever had this specific dish before - but I didn't find any mushrooms or jalapeños in what I received. The jalapeños missing may explain why I wasn't feeling the heat. Overall this place is great! I think I need to give it another try and maybe eat at the restaurant. read more

I've not been to the physical location, so this review is off of getting a couple dishes delivered for dinner. So I cannot speak on the service or ambiance of the place. We had the Pad Thai and Panang curry. The Pad Thai was very, very good - probably the best Pad Thai I've had in the Twin Cities. It had a great balance of flavors and good ratios between all the ingredients. The amount of sauce meant the noodles were neither drenched or dry. All around good stuff. The portion was very large, easily enough for dinner and then lunch again the following day. The Panang curry I would not order again. It was okay at best but very, very overpriced for the amount you get. I don't know that I'd even consider it a full meal, and they charge more for it than I've seen at other Thai places in town that serve twice as much. It had a lot of inedible ingredients still mixed in to the sauce that made it extremely annoying to eat, as you'd constantly end up biting down on pieces of woody lemongrass. Getting 4*s here is riding entirely on the pad thai. The Panang was a 2* dish at best. I fully believe all the reviews here that both had very positive and very negative experiences - I think it depends entirely on what dishes were ordered whether the portions seem huge or tiny, or whether the flavors are popping or mediocre. We used to love On's kitchen. Got takeout yesterday - simple Red Curry and Drunken Noodles. We were super disappointed, prices have got up, but, quality declined. Food had no flavor and they replaced Thai eggplants for standard inexpensive eggplant slices. The drunken noodles had no flavor. Really disappointed! Won't be coming back any time soon. TOGO ORDER The interior beautiful. The parking is an issues as how small it is and tough it was to get around. Service was fairly average for wait times since it was a lunch rush, no biggie. Wonton soup is more on the sweeter side. I do like how filling their wontons are because most places would provide wonton with wrapper over meat Tom yum was veryyyyy delicious. If you like your soup more on the stronger sour and savory side. This place is for you because the lime leaves were a hit. They're also no shy with the amount of tofu they provided. I was about to have enough for lunch and save some for later! I will definitely be requesting it to be creamy next time because I am curious to how it'll taste. Pad Thai was perfect. Not overly sweet and the perfect savory taste. Shrimps were over cooked, but other than that all was mouth blowing. FOR MY SPICY LOVERS, I had the TomYum spice level Hot and still added their thai chilies in for and extra kick. Love this place! Admittedly I've only ever gotten the pad thai but it's consistently very tasty. Spiciness is definitely not toned down so don't order a higher spice level if you aren't sure you can handle it. This place has some of the best Thai food I've tried and it never disappoints! The parking can be a little bad as the spots are very tight so it might be a struggle for bigger cars or if the lot fills up. It can get pretty busy during dinner but the couple times I went for lunch usually has spots open. The pad Thai is one of my favorites. It is so flavorful with a combination of salty and sweet. The portion is pretty big as well so it is very filling. The spice level I got was a 3 on a scale of 1-10. I didn't find mine to be very spicy but I do know they don't play around with spice so don't go too high if you can't handle it. We also got a khao ku mu which had a very flavorful pork and delicious soup. I found the sauce on the veggies to be a little too overpowering but overall was a good dish. I will say that the dishes can be a little too salty and overwhelming if you're not someone that likes salty foods, but it works well for someone like me. I think the interior has character to it. Best Thai in town, everything is always so good. So many varieties. Seriously order anything it will be good.

We visited On's before a concert at the Turf Club and ate in, which we rarely do. On walking in, they immediately have a sign saying they're understaffed and appreciate our patience, which I can respect. That being said, there definitely was a wait for service; that's definitely not a deal breaker for me, but something to keep in mind if you're looking to get in & out quickly (you might want to order ahead for takeout instead). I ordered the Cream Cheese Wontons this time, which were good but not the best I've ever had. The cream cheese inside tasted a bit overcooked, it was sort of curdled? for lack of a better word. The sauce, though, was delicious. I also tried my friends' spring roll, which was fresh and super tasty. The sauce for that was stellar as well, I would definitely order it myself next time. I also got a lychee martini! On's prices are reasonable, but I'm definitely curious about their $18 cocktails (why are they so much?). The lychee was sweet and tasty with enough oomph for me to feel the alcohol a bit, but without tasting too strong. It definitely isn't anywhere near as strong as a lot of martinis I've had, which can be a plus depending on what you're looking for lol. All in all, I still prefer takeaway over eating in, just because I'd rather be comfy at home. However, the servers are always helpful and the food is always good. Another place where the new review won't be much different from the one posted years ago. On's is a staple in my life. Getting off work early on Fridays and suffering the Green Line to get to On's is worth the sacrifice. Latest visit meal is: Stuffed Crab; Pad See-Ew for both. One protein was chicken, the other was crispy fried tofu. The heat level is 6. When ordering something other than mild, be sure to stress that you want it as hot as you've stated. We had one instance where the waiter didn't place the order for one dish with the desired heat level. The stuffed crab is so delicious. I may insist that we order two sets when next we eat at On's. Thus far, sharing hasn't been an issue. It's crispy and soft, and has a deep flavor that your mouth just loves. The Pad See-Ew is well balanced with all the necessary tastes: Sweet, salty, sour, hot. I know that I'm in for a good time when my gums get hot and the heat also lodges in my throat. You can count on this happening with the delectable food you get at On's. This dish is perfectly balanced and the noodles are chewy in all the right ways. Another dish we've tried on a couple different occasions is Ka Mu 5 Spice Pork. This is THE MOST TENDER pork you will eat in your life. Everything about this dish makes you feel happy and amazed that you didn't have to order a week in advance. There dishes are on a range from 1-10 in terms of spice level and I got an 8 since I had never been here before, but I didn't find it too spicy so I think I would be able to go for a 10 in the future. My friends and colleagues consistently rave about this place as the one of the best Thai places in the Twin Cities. The restaurant is dimly lit with a nice ambience. Service can be a little hit or miss when they are very busy, but it is very understandable and does not bother me. Fantastic, diverse menu (not just your average Pad Thai, though they have that, too) with a good balance of meat and veggie options (my favorite is their eggplant) and customizable spice levels (great flavors- I usually get medium). Call or order online ahead for easy takeout. Remember they're closed on Mondays! (I have been disappointed many a times, trying to go on Mondays!) Delicious Thai food and friendly service. Located on university Ave, this place is really unassuming but the flavors are amazing! I got the nam khao (crispy rice salad). I had it at and 8 spice level (could choose from 0 to 10). Wow. There was no shortage of flavor or texture. It comes with crispy rice, sausage, peanuts, onion and herbs and served with cabbage and lime vinaigrette. The crispy rice component especially was really well done. Decently sized rice bits with a crunchy bottom. And an 8 heat level really had heat! I love spicy so definitely only go that high if you don't mind some runny noses. Thai food seems to be the current rage among ethnic restaurants. As with Chinese cuisine, there are many variations of Thai cuisine, but few I would consider authentic. On's Thai Kitchen is among the very few I have tried that I would consider "authentic." My criteria are: (1) the menu offerings, (2) the freshness of the ingredients, (3) the taste of the food, and (4) the ambience. The menu is varied, and includes many dishes I've not seen in other Thai restaurants I've visited. One bite of a spring roll, or a chew on a Pad Thai, or a bite of a Thai dumpling tells you the ingredients are fresh. The dishes we tried tasted like no other we've had elsewhere. And, last but not least, Na's is unpretentious: The wait staff is knowledgeable, friendly in a family sort of way, and fast; that there were Asian diners during our visit, which is always a good sign. Do try the spring rolls. My companion said they are the best she's ever had anywhere. And the peanut dipping sauce is a better flavor mate than the vinegar-based sauce served in so many other Thai restaurants. Other dishes we enjoyed include the shrimp dumplings, a Thai version of Shu Mai, tofu Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup and Pad Khana Mu-Grop, a delicious blend of broccoli, crispy pork, red bell peppers, pea pods and kale in a tangy sauce. If you're tired of the same ol' same ol' Thai food at the "usual" places, a trip to St. Paul's On's Thai Kitchen is well worth it. read more

Big portion, comes with extra rice and a side soup. BBQ sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and salty, and the soup had a little kick. Would definitely order this meal again.
