I have gone to Urban Stack twice now and have been unimpressed. The first time I went there was a special menu soup that I tried as well as a burger and fries. Everything came out at once instead of soup first and everything was cold. That put me off coming back for quite some time, but the reviews are so good I had to try again. Today when I sat at the booth I was a bit shocked at how uncomfortable it was. Not something I'd usually consider but it stood out to me. I ordered a burger and fries. Everything was a bit warm, but not hot. The fries seemed like they had been sitting a while and were not fresh. They also were not seasoned. Beef was okay quality, it had some bites I wasn't thrilled with but nothing I had to spit out. Really just all around okay. Overall very mediocre. If someone said they really wanted to go here I'd do it, but I wont be back otherwise. Also no free parking that I am aware of. Our second visit while in Chattanooga. We had the chick peas the first time and sad they do not have them any longer. We had the Urban Nachos for an appetizer and it was very good. We had a Mushroom melt, bacon cheese burger, Spicey vegan patty, Mushroom pepper relish burger, Fried green tomato burger. We all really enjoyed our meal with fries and sweet potato fries. Stopped by the Urban Stack before going to see the Blue Man Group at the Tivoli Theatre. I have to say that for a burger joint this place rocks. The ambiance is great, a renovated old Tran Depot or something that still has signs of wear and tear mixed with modern improvements. I just felt very relaxed when walking in. And the bites and appetizers were great! I tried the Asian Q and my friend had the Classic cheeseburger. The pimento cheese dip was great too. It's okay. Pros: The server was quite nice and there's nice outdoor seating. Good choice of beers and the prices are more or less reasonable. Burgers were properly cooked to the requested temperatures. And Benton's bacon. Benton's makes everything better. Cons: The meat seems under seasoned. The rolls are far too soft to support the sheer weight of the toppings that are on the burgers. Butter lettuce defeats the purpose of having lettuce on a burger - no textural contrast at all. In a word...tragic. I've never written a negative review, but could not pass this one up. Let's start with the Fried Bologna Sliders. The meat, or whatever it was between those buns in no way resembled bologna. They were paper thin (literally) pieces of burnt, black mystery meat so thin that you could see through them. It honestly was more like something they scraped off the griddle after cooking something else. We also got 2 burgers. Both served with cold buns, straight out of the fridge. The french fries on both plates were cold and unseasoned. Both the Guacamole Burger and the New Mexico Green Chili burger were bland, unseasoned...very disappointing, especially at a "burger joint." Very difficult to get drink refills as our server never returned to the table after taking our order. Well, she did return to remove the untouched plates of food and are you ready for this??? She did not say a word. I was the only one whonhad tea. Amazingly, the tea is not freshly brewed, but fake...an insult to Southerners. Really??? We have lived in Chattanooga for 60 years. I cannot remember a worse dining experience. My daughter has owned four restaurants so we know good food and good service. Urban Stack has neither. We ordered burgers medium rare. After about 30 mins. or so we were served overcooked burgers so we sent them back, we almost never send anything back. Neither of us took a bite. While they worked on our order we ate some onion rings and fries, they were cold and not very tasty we both love onion rings but couldn't eat these. So our order came again over cooked. We ate them anyway by now it had been over an hour neither of us had eaten, it was 4pm. I looked carefully at the grey meat and thought it may have been old and lost it pink color. Came here today with my family. The server had no enthusiasm and didn't even enjoy doing his job. We ordered our meals and he got everything wrong. My mother asked for mayo and he gave mustard, I asked for jalapeños and he decided to give them 10 min later. He had the most annoyed look on his face and made us uncomfortable to ask for anything. I went to eat here last Tuesday. Meal was worse than it used to be in years past but an employee stole my baseball hat here. They said they had it, and when I went in the following day it was gone again, the manager said one of the employee must have stolen it out of the lost and found. We sat outside on the patio and we pretty much never saw our waitress. Our drinks went empty without refills, had to stop other staff to ask for refills. The chicken wings were incredibly burnt, like black burnt. We commented on them being burnt and the waitress just said, oh... I'm sorry. The burgers were nothing special, I think 5 Guys has better burgers than this place. The fries were okay... not amazing, but at least not terrible. The fried pickles were different... and the pickle skin itself was too thick and hard which made them tough to eat. No stouts or porters besides Guinness on the beer list... just overall not a great experience. Waited 45 minutes to be able to order our food. Just.. no. Not good. I wouldn't recommend. I don't know why we have waited so long to grab a burger here! Stopped by for lunch today and was not disappointed. Started with a light and refreshing watermelon cider. We wanted a cider and the guy working was so nice, he brought us samples to try before we ordered. I had the Vegan Cheese burger and it was SO GOOD! I loved it so much. The cucumber and black eyed pea salad however needed a little seasoning. The cucumber makes it watery so I felt like it needed something for flavor. Love having a veggie/fresh side option though instead of just fried things. Husband had the bacon cheeseburger, ordered medium and cooked to perfection. This was my last meal before leaving Chattanooga, and I was pretty excited from the reviews. I ordered the Asian Q Burger, in homage to my heritage (South Korea) I thoroughly enjoyed the burger -- super juicy & well-cooked. The sauce was a nice little kick, and the cucumber kimchi was actually GREAT. It was such an unusual yet perfect pair to the burger. Stopped in here for lunch with my son on our way back to Nashville. We were in the mood for a burger and based on the yelp reviews we decided this was our spot to stop. So glad we did, we decided to sit on the patio and enjoy the Saturday afternoon. The service was fast and friendly and the choice of burgers was amazing. It was hard to choose from all the flavors described in the menu. I settled for the big mike and the burger was HHHUUUUGGGGEEE and very fresh and bursting with flavor. We were sat and after 5 minutes we were greeted by our server Tyler. Nice young man. We ordered our drinks and appetizers, chick peas and the sweet and heat cucumbers plate. These were good. My wife ordered the green chili burger and I the Chicago Bologna burger. The chili burger had very few chilies unfortunately. My burger came out well done after ordering medium. Tbh, the pimento cheese w/chips appetizer was better than any of the burgers. We dined on the patio, which was fine, but nearly unbearable once the sun dipped low enough in the sky to let it shine into your face while trying to eat. A sun shade on the west side of the patio cover would be a huge plus. The service was friendly, but here again, nothing that stands out. I came to this establishment back in March for our spring break- doing the whole no carb bit and got the lettuce wrapped fries green tomato. Just a helpful tip for any first timers eating anything lettuce wrapped- once you start you can't stop. I finished that burger in less than 10 minutes- juices running down my arms in complete glory. Second time we visited this summer after moving here- brought my FIL and I got the italian of course lettuce wrap and still hold a record of finishing it quite quickly bc it's so good. We both got the mushroom burger with the wagyu burger (for $3.50 more) I got the Gouda cream corn side and my husband got Mac n cheese. Seriously might be the best food ever! Also tried the strawberry and cream milkshake and also amazing, it tasted just like strawberry shortcake. I wish these were everywhere! This restaurant is known in Chattanooga for having the best cheeseburgers and burgers. Although my burger was delicious, it wasn't my best hamburger I have ever had. However, I don't remember where I had my best ever hamburger. On Scene: Anyway, parking is a problem coming here if it's your first time visiting. I found a meter about 2 blocks down the street to park at. It costs 25 cents for every 15 minutes. Since I'm only here to try there burgers, I decided an hour and 15 minutes would be enough. So, it costs me $1.25 to park. I walk in and am immediately greeted by the manager who is also the hostess. I sat at a booth in the bar area and come to find out my waitress was the bartender of course. She helped me decide on burger called "the big cheese". This was about what I was looking for. She also said that she parks behind the restaurant but has to pay for it monthly. Anyway, my big cheese burger was delicious along with my hot pimento cheese dip appetizer which came with chips. I really wanted to love this place, but it was just okay. We're from out of town, and we were looking for a great burger place. Overall, it was an average experience. We had a decent meal. We started off with the pimento cheese dip, which was really bland, surprisingly. I had the New Mexico Green Chile burger, which had great flavor, but was overwhelmed by the amount of mustard and green chiles on it (it really suffocated the rest of the burger). The fries were tasty. My wife had the Smokehouse burger, which was just okay as well. The mac and cheese was so creamy, and so good. Maybe we went on an off night?
