Looks the part of an old style bar with well-worn wooden bar. Bartenders were friendly & attentive. I decided to try The Social Sour, which is basically a New York sour - a whiskey sour with a red wine float. It looks great & tasted great too but I wasn't absolutely sure it was actually red wine on top. In any case try that or the barkeep's old fashioned.

Wow! I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews stating how the bartenders are so…read morefriendly and accommodating. Sadly, as an individual customer, that was not my experience on a Thursday night. I arrived a little before 7pm and I was warmly greeted by Drew. I told her I was excited to dine here, specifically in the bar, based on reviewers comments. Her friendliness and positive attitude assured me I made the right decision. However, the bar area was not as inviting or welcoming as the evening progressed. My bartender was cordial and asked if I wanted a cocktail. I asked if this place makes a good Cosmopolitan. He said "Do you like it tart or sweet?" (Never been asked that before, but I appreciated the question.) I said "tart" and he made me the BEST Cosmopolitan I've had in a while! It was served half in a glass and the rest in a small decanter surrounded in a glass of ice. Great presentation and even better drink! Just a touch of pink and nice and strong. 5 star start! Then, it went downhill. I ordered the Wedge Salad ($9) and the Seared Scallops ($18), both under the "Starters, Small Plates" section. Both were very good, with excellent presentation. I should have realized the "Small Plates" would only provide a few scallops (3), but they were very well prepared and quite good. After I ordered and the food was provided, little customer service was given thereafter. I had to ask for water refills twice. (When I finally asked for my check, I got a refill without asking.) During this time, only one other customer was in the bar. The two bartenders were talking to another employee about a streaming finale one recently watched. Eventually, the second bartender came onto my side and I asked if I could order one more item from him since my bartender never came back. (The first bartender was Josh, which I discovered when I got the bill receipt.) The other bartender took my order for the Pot Roast Nachos (as I still somewhat hungry) and the Nachos were absolutely fantastic, just like the reviews recommended. At 8pm, I left as I was the only patron left in the bar (I wonder why?) and they were cleaning up even though closing was still an hour away. The bill for two cocktails and the food mentioned above came to $77. Then, $13 was added for Tennessee state/county tax and also liquor/wine tax!!! Was my meal and service worth $100, not really. As I left, I saw the personable Drew and she asked me how the evening went. I explained and she apologized that it did not meet my expectations. I said I just think I came on an off night. However, maybe she should tell management that if only one customer is left at the bar, you should treat them with the attention and respect as anyone who came in earlier. I don't feel I received the service I deserved for the price I paid so sadly, I can only provide a review based on this one time experience.

Can't recommend this cocktail bar enough!…read more We visited the bar late night while staying at the hotel and it did not disappoint. Despite clearly being short staffed and having a busy night - we were greeted almost immediately and encouraged to help ourselves to a seat. We sat at a table away from the bar (only one available) and a server came by to take our drink order. Before he could return, another employee - who was running food to another table - immediately came over to us after to see if we wanted to order food (which we did!). She took our order, then the drinks arrived and before we knew it the food was out and was incredible! The menu is quite limited - and even more so when you one of you doesn't eat meat - and yet we were able to make a meal out of 2 caesar salads, the hummus plate and the deviled eggs. And don't even get me started on the cocktails! We started with a Manhattan and an Espresso Martini that were perfectly crafted. And then for our dessert round switched to their signature Old Fashioned. Each one was better than the next! Thanks for an incredible time, Whiskey Thief. We will definitely we back!

At first, servers were scarce, but as I got up to go to the bar, the bartender must've seen me and was on his way. He took our initial drink order. At $14 per glass of wine, we just went for the bottle at $54 and a charcuterie board at $27. We are on vacation, so why not. The view is excellent. The weather cooperated. People watching from on high was fun, and the nature scenery was nice. Service was a little slow, but not an imposition, however, if it gets much busier, that could be a thing. We later learned they previously had a $10 cover, but we did not get asked for this and it must be a thing of the past, or I understand it is waived for guests of the Edwin Hotel (the bar's affiliated with the Edwin) but we had dinner reservations at Whitebird, the affiliated restaurant. The charcuterie was good with cheeses, cured meats, jams, crackers, etc. all in all, the star is the Al fresco seating and the River, and of course the company of my beautiful wife! So, go for outdoor seating and bring your own beau!

We tried a few beers from Five Wits and per her recommendation got the creamsicle shake as well. Solid beverage choices. The shake tasted part float part milkshake and it was absolutely delicious. Would order again. The food on the other hand was a bit eh. We ordered the Asian q burger and the mushroom melt burger and it took quite a while for them to come out and when they did they had unfortunately been left on the grill for way too long and were charred and crunchy. One set of our fries was cold and the bun to burger ratio was extremely off. Luckily, the staff agreed that our burgers were accidentally overcooked and they remade them no questions asked. The remade burgers were moist and better but still not fantastic. They were just burgers with minimal toppings on them. Not really seasoned and the flavor came from the toppings themselves. The buns were still too big for the burgers so there was a lot of extra bread and they have potential to be great but they were just average. Would have probably been a three star review but the staff and drink selection really earned the extra star. Would go back to drink and maybe snack but probably not order a burger.

Okay, this is my first time this restaurant/bar/club. I got there around 9:30 PM on Saturday night…read moreand sat outside for quite a while with some biker friends of mine. I must say for a nightclub it is impressive for Chattanooga. They have to areas outdoors on the left-hand side with a fire pit and seating and a few tables. You can also sit outside on the right-hand side but no fire pit. This review is based on me just touring the place over a few hours and mostly sitting outside watching people come in. They do serve beer and mixed drinks and they also serve food, which I did not partake. Oh yea, draft beer (+1). I also had the chance to chat with Randy, the manager, and I appreciate his openness. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and you could tell he was on top of everything there. Great people person. When you arrive, women can expect to get "wanded" and their purses checked and the men will also be frisked, I assume for weapons. As with most of these types of nightclubs, it seems to get busy around 10 o'clock at night and I was told that many nights they reach capacity by 11 o'clock and there is a line to get in, sometimes around the block so may want to get there early. As people leave, they allow others to enter, because I think they have a maximum occupancy of about 800. Security seems to be pretty tight which I can understand due to the clientele being younger for the most part have a lot of alcohol flowing. I had the chance to meet and talk to some of the security personnel and they were outgoing and friendly, but rest assured, they are there to ensure everyone has a good time and no one is bothered and if you were to get out of hand, it is obvious they know what to do. The club is three levels with the bottom level still being developed and it has pool tables, dartboards and when finished in a couple of weeks will be quite a neat hangout. The middle level (entrance) has lots of tables and bars and appears to be more of a live band (country) and maybe a little older crowd. This seems to be the better place to eat. Again, it was somewhere I would hang out. The upper level is probably a "younger" crowd and it is the loud dance music (I use the term music lightly) where it has a constant beat so dancers and bounce up and down . Music s somewhat crude at times and there is a lot of bumping and grinding going on. You can hardly move up there when it is crowded and It seem to be very crowded early on this level . Also, I was told it can get hot (temperature wise). Word of caution, especially to the younger crowd, be sure you don't drink and drive because first of all not a safe or smart thing to do but secondly, there are police cars just sitting there watching the place. I left on my motorcycle around 1 AM and saw three just sitting there. I am not a night owl and too old for the 3 AM checkout. I no longer get home when people are getting up. For what it is, it is a pretty neat place for Chattanooga and you would think you were downtown NYC or Atlanta. I give it a 5 and it has something for everyone. If I got something wrong here, just drop me a note.

Walk in the door to a large white board with several "rules" including no weapons, no sagging, no hoodies, no baseball caps to the side, no plain t shirts... then there was a $20 cover. The whole vibe made it uneasy so I left.
