i love grabbing food from urban plates when i want a filling but guilt-less lunch. their food is always made so fresh, and i like that i can feel good about what i'm eating. it can feel a little pricey at times, but it ends up being worth it in quality. my go-to order is the chopped caesar (no tomato, add egg) with ahi tuna, which always hits. if i'm feeling a little ambitious, i'll throw in a side of mac and cheese (i love that they started adding breadcrumbs to the recipe), or the herb roasted potatoes. delicious every time! it helps that the staff is always very friendly as well and quick to help. read more

I like this restaurant. The Roasted barramundi sea bass was delicious. Flavorful, light and bouncy. It tasted fresh and it was delightful. The Brussel sprouts and brocolllini had the right amount of crunch while still being tender. The veggies tasted light and fresh. The Roasted potatoes had good texture and consistency. I liked that it had the right amount of butter and herbs. The Corn tortilla soup- had a bit of sourness. The soup was somewhat viscous. The tortillas inside had good texture. This is a good place for him and I since I eat anything good. He had the beet salad plus added some grilled tofu. He said it what he often gets when he is Urban Plates for the taste and it's fairly healthy. I had the cup of soup and half grilled chicken sandwich. Taste was good, and liked that it was free range chicken. That means the chickens can run around and pick at the bugs and worms when they are outside, reducing the unhealthy diet of grains with linoleic acid common in conventional chicken that increase inflammation and other issues. I also had the chowder which was served lukewarm, and i prefer it hot and the portion size of both soup and sandwich are less than in similar sandwich shops. Tase was good. This is located in a busy minim mall with the huge Curtis Matthes furniture store across the street and in the same building as drive through Starbucks. Traffic gets pretty crazy at times. We used the entryway self service kiosk which was fast, but when the machine asked for a ticket number, they didn't have any. I had to go track them down (ALL of them were at the front register). The place at 2:00 PM after the lunch rush on a Friday was still kind of crowded with all but one booth taken which we grabbed. Some of the tables weren't cleaned off. The cement floor and kind of dark interior with the high ceilings and vent pipes and sprinklers gave an industrial-ish vibe. It was a decent time and meal overall. Ive been going here since 2017, on Sunday 6/28 at 12 pm, i went in to pick up my order. The cashier, was very rude, a young Asian female with glasses. She asked my name, I said Jeff she rudely said not ready despite it being ready and sitting there on the shelf. 10 minutes later she sees that i am still there, asks my name again, and gives me my order. When i asked her why she told me it wasnt ready 10 minutes ago, she rudely and dismissively tells me i gave her the wrong name. I gave the name Jeff when the order is for Jeffrey. When i informed her that Jeff and Jeffrey are the same name she just walked away from me while i was still speaking and said we get a lot of Jeffreys. Had she apologized and acknowledged her mistake, i would have let it go. However her rude behavior and refusal to admit any wrong doing is what has me so upset. Im not going there anymore. I didnt expect to be treated so rudely while just picking up a salad. If you look at my other reviews they are almost all positive, this is my only negative food review, 100% due to service, for a pick up. read more

I love Urban Plates because the majority of their ingredients are certified organic. I am always impressed by the portions and the price. Some may say it's expensive, but you're getting a large quantity of food and high level quality. I have been to other locations before, but this was my first time at Urban Plates at the Tustin Marketplace. There are so many food options in this shopping center, but we chose Urban Plates for their mouth watering options. I love the fact you can get a meal that is all sides - and they have meat, veggie or even vegan options. All of their food is so delicious. I personally love the Thai Salad. It's a huge portion (enough for 2 meals) and costs under $20. Plus, you can get a side of their rustic bread too. Also, they have a water station, friendly staff, and the most satisfying desserts. You can get cake, cookies, bars, etc. We splurged and tried all their cookies and the Cowgirl Cookie stole the show! The restaurant inside was huge and they even have a shaded outdoor patio. 1st and last time at this location. I usually go to the Brea, 2nd & PCH LBC, Woobbridge Irv., or Old Town Pas. locations, which are not as nice looking as this one. Clutter clean, but no one wipes down... lucky it is in a nicer area so it's not ghetto scuzzy. Runs out of water a lot, even when the managers are walking by overseeing. I had to tell a staff at the register, which she apologized and said she can't fill the water there. Forks and knives out only, while my meal needs a spoon. I asked the food runner and she said it's out for self service...uh, not next to the kiosk, the registers, or the outside patio, so I had to address the register staff again. I eat/drink out a lot, not even comparable to the average person. It's Friday night (11/07/2025) before 7pm and I've already been to 7 places and by the end of the night I'll add another 6-8 mor places (Coffee/Tea places, Bakeries, Restaurants, and Bars). Again normal for moi. Urban Plates food is a standard 5 level as sit down restaurants (hybrid ones included too) goes, but their front service here is lacking at best. Good luck. The last time we came here, the broccoli and herb roasted potatoes were disgusting. The broccoli was overcooked and like mush. The potatoes tasted off like a bit rotten. It's also worth noting that normally the herb roasted potatoes are whole small potatoes and these ones were larger and halved. Couldn't eat either and so ended up just eating the chicken and the bread. It also seems like even when you order all dark chicken, they will randomly throw in some dry white meat as a surprise lol. I like urban plates because it is a bit of a cleaner and fast meal when in a time crunch. But this last experience was very off putting. read more

I came to pick up dinner for my grandmother's birthday and was very disappointed with the customer service. I placed a to-go order that included four entrées, drinks, and dessert. Before leaving, I checked my order and realized one of the entrées was missing. The only thing included was the extra side of sauce I had requested, but not the actual steak plate it was meant for. The drinks were also missing. When I brought the issue to the employee's attention, I explained that I was in a rush and asked if they could make the missing steak plate. Instead, I was told I would have to pay for it. I don't believe it's fair to be charged for an item that was left out due to a mistake on the restaurant's end. Not only was the entrée missing, but I was also charged for an extra side of sauce with nothing to go with it. Mistakes happen, but I was disappointed by how the situation was handled and the lack of effort to correct the error. read more

I am so glad to see so many people like this place because they are ethical and sustainable - but omg I thought the food was horrible. And I don't feel that way often. I got the tofu plate with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes, and my gma got the steak with mac & cheese and brussels sprouts. The second she put the mac & cheese in her mouth she was practically gagging, and the brussels sprouts were so hard she couldn't chew them. Even I could barely chew them. My tofu was also like rubber, I had work so hard to cut it. And there was no flavor to anything. I added salt, pepper, and hot sauce and still so dull. The presentation also lacked. And to top it all off, everything was cold. The bill came to over $42 for the two plates, for what tasted like cafeteria food. They also do the 3% surcharge to all orders. The layout is also interesting. You go to one counter to order then your food is brought out but if you need anything you have to keep getting up and each counter has different things. Stopped in for lunch with my son and was impressed by the ingredient quality. We shared the seafood chowder, which was the favorite part of our meal. It was rich and flavorful.....we wanted seconds!! My grilled cage-free chicken was moist and paired perfectly with the fresh beet and goat cheese salad. My son's grass-fed steak was also cooked well and very tasty. The side dishes were a bit of a letdown. The Brussel sprouts were overcooked and bit mushy, and the quinoa was soggy. I don't recommend these side dishes. The caesar salad was crisp and fresh. Our office decided to come here for our annual lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. There were 7 of us. We ordered at the counter and found a table to sit down. No greetings from staff at the register or explaining how things work at Urban Plate. My first time here so I just follow my co-workers. We clearly were struggling with what to order since it is our first time here and the menu looked overwhelming, but staff just stood there almost looking impatiently for us to order. We paid over $100+ for everyone's food. Staff brought out foods we ordered to our table. Water is self-served by the water table in by the entrance and in front of the restroom area. The place was very well kept and clean. Steak plates were popular but only one person really enjoyed it and the rest said okay but probably might not order again. I just ordered a simple house salad with tomato soup. I'd recommend order other foods but definitely not the tiny plate of house salad/small tomato soup. It will not get you full for lunch. A lot of business people nearby came here to eat during lunch so that's a good sign. It's in a big shopping plaza so there are plenty of parking. read more

This was my second time eating at Urban Plates, the first being at the location in Long Beach. That was a very pleasant experience and I was left feeling more than satisfied with the food I had so I had high hopes coming into this one. This time around, I ordered the three chicken tender meal with sides of Mac and cheese and mushroom stuffing. It was so so delicious and filling. The tenders were juicy and a good size, and the spice level left me surprised. I ordered them Nashville hot and they came very spicy, which is always welcome. The sides I had were also delicious with the stuffing leaving something to be desired but it was still good. The Mac and cheese was my favorite as it was the right amount of cheese and texture. Though we did have to wait quite a while for our food which I thought was strange because there were not many other people in the restaurant, I didn't mind it much. The servers and staff were all very warm and friendly, especially the man who took our order. Eating at Urban Plates I feel has really shown me the difference in buying meals that are a bit pricier but at the same time, are of a higher quality due to the ingredients. I feel like it is so good because they are using some great ingredients that other places typically would not. That being said, the portions are more than generous and fair which is another reason to return which I most definitely will. read more

Went here for a work dinner and was almost overwhelmed with the choices! I got the Chimichurri Grass Fed Steak w/ Roasted Mushrooms with Garlic Parmesan Butter & Caesar Salad. The steak was medium rare and paired perfectly with the mushrooms. Too much of the mushroom alone was a bit heavy and the bread was very chewy. I also wished the salad was mixed for us already because I just ate it by dipping the caesar sauce. We ordered from the register and brought our food to a table where it was brought out.
