Met up with a friend and we enjoyed our lunch. The plates are huge and the food is really delicious. I loved the carrots and beets. They were cooked to perfection. The steak was cooked a bit more than I normally like but surprisingly it was still tender and flavorful - I ate the whole thing. The counter service is quick and efficient and I appreciate they have pictures to help decide what to order from their huge menu. The indoor dining experience was also good. Had it been cooler it would have been nice to sit on the patio but the inside is pretty cute too. I would definitely come back and try more things. read more

SO delicious and I wish I knew about Urban Plates sooner! Healthy, delicious, good portions + nice dining area. A group of us stopped by with kids in tow and were able to get a table, I ordered the steak with Brussels sprouts and cauliflower. One of my kids got the kid meal with mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts, and the other got the salmon with beets. The food arrived fairly quickly and it was all delicious! Each plate came with garlic bread which my kids gobbled up. Food can be a little pricey but is very reasonable for what you get. Parking can get busy on weekends, but we were able to find a spot by Trader Joe's and just walked over. read more

My daughter received burnt chicken tenders with her kids meal, she's never not finished chicken tenders in 8 years of being on this planet. I would call her a chicken tenders expert. The person dropped off this plate I believe it was a supervisor which leads me to believed he looked at the chicken tenders and said yep this is good quality let's give this to a child. Ordering is quick and easy with the devices by the entrance. They had a note explaining there would be a 30min wait due to the restaurant being short-staffed for the day when I went in. It was nice to have this warning, so the wait wasn't a surprise. I had the steak and mashed potatoes and mushroom stuffing. I wished the steak was bigger, but everything was pretty good! I had a really disappointing experience here. I placed my order at the kiosk and selected it to go, but apparently there was some kind of technical issue and the order came through as dine-in. Instead of simply fixing the mistake or handing me the food to go, the staff took the time to condescendingly explain to me that "for next time," if I receive a number, that means my order is for here. I understood what they were saying, but the attitude and lecture were completely unnecessary considering I had already selected "to go" at the kiosk. A simple "Sorry about that, we'll package it to go for you" would have been more than enough. There was no reason to make me feel like I had done something wrong over what appeared to be a kiosk error. Customer service is about how you handle small problems, and this interaction left a really bad impression. I personally don't even eat here I just stopped by to pick up some healthyish food for my family. read more

Would really like our local urban plates in Dublin, California, but we had a meet up with some friends in Davis and we were truly impressed by this new restaurant! It's got a cool layout with outdoor seating, but it was too cold to be outside so he died inside and the staff was so accommodating. We had a group of seven and they put tables together and waited patiently for his Alzheimer's to figure out how to order on the touchscreen! Everything was delicious. The service was great the bathroom spotless, and we were even treated to free cookies afterwards! I recommend. read more

Great place if you want a wholesome meal! My boyfriend and I picked a blackened salmon plate and a grilled sustainable salmon plate and loved it! I chose to pair my grilled salmon with ponzu sauce which was delicious. My boyfriend paired his blackened salmon with hollandaise which he thought was great. We ordered through a kiosk at the front of the store and our food followed after 15 minutes. The person that served us our food apologized for the wait and explained that salmon takes the longest to cook (we didn't mind the wait). The restaurant itself was spacious with outside seating. It is self seating and there was so problem finding a table because it wasn't super busy the time we came in. Very satisfied with our lunch read more

Service was great on grand opening. There was a guy out in front, Cyrus, who talked to my parents a lot lol and made their experience feel welcoming and he was very knowledgeable about ordering on the kiosk and told us about plate pass which I signed up for. Mild inconveniences: The app is not the best - it's kind of slow and I would rather order in person. Parking is a bit atrocious here too at the Davis collective lol. I wish they considered that when developing... tbh I think the ratio of available parking to stores/restaurants is a bit... well we will see. The food was delicious and fresh! I also like the restaurant layout - not too crowded and you can see the food being made. My favorite is the sea bass. Although I don't have it pictured lol. The steak is also really nice. Very tender. They had this coconut lime refresher that was also really good. Shoutout to Abreena(?) for helping us get water and clearing our plates, Nikki for going around and checking in on us (the cookie was really yummy), and Luis ‍ A lot of servers also checked in on us. So good vibes all around. I will definitely be using my plate pass lol. read more

I'm glad I did because everything was delicious. I ordered the pork belly banh mi and a cup of the Greek lemon chicken and farro soup. The banh mi was definitely the highlight. The pork belly was moist, tender, chewy, and really flavorful, and the crunchy vegetables added a great contrast. The ciabatta was perfectly soft with just a little bit of grilling and worked really well with everything in the sandwich. It was also a pretty substantial portion. I could only finish half and took the other half home for my son to try. The Greek lemon chicken and farro soup was also really good. I would have loved a little more lemon zing to it, but that's really my only critique of the food. Tenisha helped me during my visit and was super friendly and welcoming, which made a great first impression for a new location. My lunch came in just under $30, so it's definitely on the pricier side for a sandwich-and-soup lunch. That said, everything tasted fresh and high quality, with plenty of protein and vegetables, and the pricing seems pretty comparable to the other options in this newly updated shopping area. Overall, this was a great first visit. The food was fresh, delicious, and felt like a healthier lunch option without sacrificing flavor. I've been waiting for Mendocino Farms to open and went a little out of my way to finally try it, and it was absolutely worth the trip. I'll definitely be back.

I gotta say it was probably one of the best ones in California and I've tried quite a bit. Pretty darn close to the authentic stuff in Hawaii but still delicious! Everything was flavorful, bold, and a great blend of flavors. I had the Furikake bomb Ahi and Spicy Ahi Tropical Style and it definitely hit the spot. Now the base of a bowl is $14.25 with just poke and rice, so if you want all the fixings it's an additional charge. Going for the Tropical style added $4.50 bringing it to $18.75 before tax. A tad pricey but if you can afford it, definitely would recommend for the explosion of flavor. But if you want to eat it the good Ole fashion Hawaiian way, just poke and rice would be cherry, garunz barbarunz!! Highly recommend this place if you get a poke craving, and I hope to come back very soon when my craving hits!

The salmon is so fatty and fresh and they are super generous with the portions. The ahi is also super fresh and is a good balance with the salmon. But that should not distract from the yummy Mediterranean food that you can find at Shah's. It's totally worth the hassle with finding a place to park. The interior is on a smaller side, only few tables inside, and the ordering is at the counter. Pick an option from the menu-either a wrap or platter-and the friendly staff will make it in front of you. You just add stuff to it as you go. Think of it as a Middle Eastern Subway or a Chipotle. For the meat options they offer chicken or lamb, but there is also falafel and fish options for those with different dietary needs. We tried both the chicken and lamb, in gyro and platter form. The portions at Shah's are very generous and you can make it even more filling by adding more condiments and toppings to it. Warning: the spicy sauce is actually spicy, not "American spicy", so take that into mind when ordering. I also noticed Shah's also carries burgers and sides such as fries or chicken nuggets, but we did not try that on this visit. For filling and quick meal, Shah's is (still) one of the best options in town. It is great that they're open late and now have a brick-and-mortar presence, so we don't have to wonder where the truck will be parked.

They told me I had one choice left. One plate, one meal, one taste of freedom before the steel door slammed shut for good. When you're sittin' in that cold box, the air heavy with regret and silence, you start thinkin' about what matters. And food? Food is memory. Food is family. Food is the streets you walked and the people who had your back. That's when my bruddha Chenel came through. She looked me dead in the eye before they cuffed me and said, "If you only got one shot, one plate, you better hit up this spot. Trust me, fam." And I trusted her. Chenel never lied, never fronted. She knew the streets, knew the flavors, knew what could make a man forget the chains for a minute. Walking In (Memory of Freedom) I remember steppin' through that door like it was yesterday. The smell hit me first -- spices ridin' the air like music, sizzling pans singin' louder than the jukebox in the corner. The place wasn't fancy, but it had soul. Dim lights, chatter from tables, laughter that felt like home. The kind of joint where you don't need no suit, just respect. The walls were worn, but they carried stories. You could tell generations had sat here, breakin' bread, talkin' dreams, talkin' pain. And me? I was just another soul lookin' for redemption in a plate. The Food (Freedom on a Fork) When the dish landed in front of me, I swear the world stopped. Steam rose like smoke signals, callin' me back to better days. The edges were crispy, golden like sunlight I hadn't seen in months. The inside? Tender, soft, melt-in-your-mouth like it was made with care, not just skill. Every bite was a punch of flavor -- bold, unapologetic, like the streets themselves. Seasonin' tight, no weak sauce, no shortcuts. You could taste the grind, the hustle, the love. It wasn't just food; it was a message: "You mattered. You lived. You fought. And now you eat." I closed my eyes with each bite, lettin' the taste carry me away. For a moment, I wasn't locked up. I was sittin' at a table with my crew, laughin', talkin' about tomorrow like it was guaranteed. Service & Respect The staff? They didn't look at me like I was trouble. They didn't see the ink on my arms or the weight in my eyes. They saw a man who came hungry, who came lookin' for somethin' real. They moved quick, no attitude, no judgment. Respect was served alongside the food, and that hit harder than any flavor. Reflection in the Cell Now I sit here, concrete walls closin' in, thinkin' about that meal. The taste still lingers, like a ghost of freedom. It wasn't just the food -- it was the memory, the vibe, the way Chenel's word carried me to that table. If you ever find yourself facin' that "last meal" moment -- whether it's real or just in your head -- this spot is the one. It's the kind of food that makes you wanna live forever, even when forever ain't promised. Chenel ain't lie. She gave me a gift, and that plate was more than a meal. It was a reminder that even in the darkest corners, flavor, respect, and memory can light the way. Final Word This ain't just a restaurant. It's a sanctuary. It's a place where the streets meet the soul, where a man on his last ride can taste freedom one more time. So here's my review, long as the night and heavy as the bars: If you got one shot, one plate, one chance to feel alive -- take Chenel's word. Go here. Eat. Remember. And let that flavor carry you, even when the world tries to lock you down. read more

I don't usually write long reviews, but my experience at Urban Plates was so outstanding that it absolutely deserves one. From the moment I walked through the doors, I could tell this wasn't just your average casual dining spot -- it's a place where quality, care, and genuine hospitality come together seamlessly. Let's start with the food: everything looked fresh, colorful, and made with love. The variety is incredible -- whether you're craving grilled meats, vibrant salads, or wholesome sides, Urban Plates nails it. I ordered the grilled steak plate with Brussels sprouts and mac & cheese, and it was honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The steak was cooked perfectly -- tender, flavorful, and juicy. You can tell the ingredients are top-notch and that freshness is a real priority here. But as amazing as the food was, the highlight of my entire visit was Chenel. She completely elevated the experience with her warmth, professionalism, and kindness. You can instantly tell she takes pride in what she does. She greeted everyone with such genuine enthusiasm and made sure every guest felt welcomed and cared for. In a world where customer service can often feel rushed or robotic, Chenel's energy stood out -- it was authentic, heartfelt, and honestly contagious. She patiently gave great recommendations and even checked in later to make sure everything was perfect (spoiler alert: it was). It's rare to see someone balance efficiency and friendliness so effortlessly. Chenel wasn't just doing her job -- she was creating a memorable dining experience. It's employees like her that make customers want to come back again and again. read more

I just visited the restaurant today! I was excited to try it because the online menu looked pretty good. We ordered two drinks, and that was the beginning of the downfall. The strawberry lemonade wasn't too bad, but it definitely tasted mostly like a "hint" of basil, with not much of a lemonade flavor at all. The pineapple coconut drink was atrocious. It had an almost sour, acid-like taste. That being said, maybe that's just our preference, and other people might enjoy those drinks. Let's move on to the food...we ordered two plates. The crispy jumbo chicken tenders plate had so many things wrong with it. We ordered it with bread, which was pretty burnt, along with two sides. The breading on the chicken was somehow burnt on the outside and still raw on the inside. The texture of the breading was both dry and doughy, which made it very unappetizing. One of the sides ordered with this plate was mac and cheese, which was alright but very watery. The other side was tomato soup, which was the best thing out of our entire experience. The other plate we ordered was the sustainable salmon. It was okay, a little on the burnt side, and the burnt parts had a charred taste that some people may like, but I wasn't a fan, especially since it didn't look that burnt in the menu photo. We also got bread with this plate, and that was burnt as well. The sides we chose for this plate were tomato soup and fries. The fries were already cold, not even warm, when they were brought to the table. It could've been a great meal because the place is very nice, but only if the food had been prepared differently. read more

Holy SMOKES. People, this restaurant is next level. 1. the ambiance was great. It felt so lovely to come in and feel like you're in a cozy space, but know that there's plenty of seating. I loved that they had a long table in the middle for either large parties, or for several small groups. 2. Loved the food. They had a menu specifically to highlight allergens. It made it so easy to order. Also, you can order on your phone and have it delivered right to your table. No waiting in line or anything. 3. I cannot stress this enough, the service was UNBELIEVABLE. It happened to be my birthday and I was wearing a birthday hat. One of the employees, Nikki saw my hat, and came over and wished me a happy birthday. She also gave me a treat on the house and because I couldn't have any of the desserts (allergens) she let me have a fancy blueberry lemonade as my "treat". She really made the whole experience very special. I love Urban Plates and will sing it's praises to anyone and everyone. The food - delish. The consideration - superb. The staff - unparalleled. Just really awesome. Don't miss out on this place. read more

My roommates and I sat in for a wonderful late lunch during their complimentary training program experience prior to opening day. Even on the patio, the ambiance was sublime, complete with a tiny succulent on our table. The food was delicious and the employees were very accommodating and sociable. We specifically want to thank Jade for being very welcoming and understanding when taking our order by taking time to explain each of the menu items. We were also greeted by Francesca with some delectable replenisher samples. Alize and Manuel stopped by our table once we had finished eating to check in, and went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction, by forming personal connections. Finally, Nikki helped conclude our experience by making sure we had all the to go containers we needed. We will definitely be coming back very soon, not only because of the yummy food, but thanks to the efforts of the staff as well! read more

Lucky enough to score a spot during their friends and family pre-opening. Comfortable urban-inspired design serving a mix of sandwiches and wraps, salads and choose your own adventure plates (protein and sides). Husband had seared ahi, with a tangy pickled beet and goat cheese salad along with perfectly seasoned sautéed mushrooms. I opted for a veggie plate: extra creamy mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and sesame broccoli, served with some grilled Italian bread. Son opted for a chicken Caesar wrap with chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our server was Tara, who was friendly and engaging and never let any drinks go unfilled. There were a ton of staff around, and everyone was friendly and helpful. The place was very busy but no one seemed rushed or overwhelmed. We were gifted slices of hummingbird and chocolate layer cake to try, both of which were fabulous! We will definitely be back. read more

Went to their pre-dining event....absolutely amazing food but quite honestly what sold it for me was the service. They got this dude that works there named Manuel. Top 5 humans of all time if i'm being completely honest. If i needed water, Manuel would know before I even knew I was thirsty and would already be behind me pouring me a glass. His energy was just astounding truly. Another all star of the roster gotta be Benji. BENJI. If there was a mount rushmore of people on the planet, he'd be on there FOR SURE. Killer personality, such a friendly individual, and made me and my mates laugh so hard I almost threw up my food which would've been a crime considering how yummy the food was. Nothing special, the salad was right the rice was garlicky, and did come with pita bread and a water, but that's kind of expected for $20 at a takeout place. The hummus was a little thin and I definetely tasted the tahini. Was a lot faster this time. But something just didn't convince me it was worth $20.

Their Pad See Ew is probably the best we've ever had ‍ The crab rangoons are BOMB, the potstickers are delicious, and their yellow curry is seriously one of our favorites. Their noodle soups are also SO flavorful and comforting--you really can't go wrong with anything you order. And on top of the amazing food, the customer service is always incredible. Everyone is so kind, welcoming, and genuinely makes you feel taken care of and the location is perfect! If you're in Woodland and love Thai food, you HAVE to try Madam Kaii! Definitely one of our favorite spots.

We tried the green curry with chicken, the Thai basil eggplant with chicken, and the pad see ew with beef. The green curry was phenomenal! That was undoubtedly my favorite bite - it really blew me away. The Thai basil eggplant was perfectly prepared, the eggplant was so delicious. The pad sew ew was a little more sweet than I'm used to, but it was a solid dish as well! The service was amazing. The woman who helped us was attentive and so welcoming, you can tell she cares so much about this restaurant. She handled all of the tables by herself (there were 4 other tables on a Sunday which is a great sign - plus multiple pick up orders). Truly next level customer service. The inside has these really cute wooden cut outs - on one side, the cut outs are of Woodland - you can see the Corner Store, the courthouse, the city hall, even a cut out of the burger saloon and Mojo's! The other side features cut outs of landmarks from Thailand. It's really endearing. I also had a Thai iced tea which was excellent. I can't wait to come back here and try more dishes!

They have plenty of sides here including cornbread, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. We recently noticed they opened a new location in Dixon, right off the freeway. So after leaving Fairfield for a water polo match one night I decided this new Buckhorn restaurant would be our destination as it's on the way home to West Sacramento. The new location is beautiful. It's a brand new building. Large bar area with TV's. Lots of tables for patrons and their families. Outdoor seating too. The speakers were playing 80's rock music. The lady at the counter was super nice and after ordering we grabbed a number and found a table. Wait was about 20 minutes. Gave us lots of time to go over my son's game and upcoming plans. Food order came out correctly. Our food runner was constantly checking on us too which was nice. My son loved the chicken tenders and offered me a taste. I mistakenly ate the whole tenders and he laughed about it. My lady loved her lettuce wrapped burger, so did I! It was a fat juicy hamburger with a deep BBQ char on it and the flavors were great. I would order that again. Got the 2 meat plate with ribs and bbq chicken. Absolutely delicious. So much food I took the rest home. Overall I think this new Buckhorn offers the city and passing travelers a really cool spot to hangout and enjoy some top notch eats.
