I have been to Uptown Coffee many times in the past several years. I never had a problem, but after the last two times that I visited it might be a place that I don't go to anymore. First the person who took my order had the personality of a rock. I ordered a latte (one pump caramel) and a biscotti. The person just grunted something at me (I think it was about the biscotti ) . For the second time my latte had the full amount of caramel pumps and was so sweet I ended up pitching it once I got to my next destination. I have to agree with Jonathan R. in that the pretentiousness was overwhelming and I felt like I was not supposed to be there. Thinking twice before going again. read more

I usually love uptown coffee. My partner and I have been coming for a few years. Ever since the majority of their staff left, I understand, moving on to bigger and better things and focusing on school.....the service and food/drinks aren't the same.. one of the women who works at the front counter was just mean for no reason? The mocha tasted burnt and the banana bread is some how dry? I wish them the best in finding staff that was like the last group. Those folk are hard to replace.... read more

Reading my past review from 2012 I would have never known I was in the same place! What a difference a couple years make. I was commenting to myself while in there, why had I not been back for so long? I totally forgot I had even written a bad review. Well, glad to say things have vastly improved, or I was there on an off day! I had the homemade chai again and it was perfection! I love a good chai. I love it even better when they make a stellar chai mix in house, which they do. My fave chai is a spicier rather than sweet one. This was a spicy cup of chai goodness! I'm also happy to report the barista's were super friendly, answered my multiple questions and took my annoying order (almond milk and extra hot). The ambiance is still super cute. This coffee shop is really cute! They had lots of fun flavors & desserts to try. I wasn't completely satisfied with my iced pumpkin chai latte because it tasted a little watered down, but i tried my friends iced tiramisu latte and that was delishhh. Definitely would get that next time. read more

I was in the area on the 4th of July after having a delicious breakfast at the Dor-stop. After breakfast, I was craving a latte so I searched yelp for something close by. I was excited to see Uptown Coffee, as I had never been there. They had normal hours that day, which was awesome. As soon as I walked in all I could smell was delicious baked goods. I mean it smelled HEAVENLY in there. I was full from breakfast, so I just got an almond milk latte instead. Brendan got a shot in the dark. I loved the purple coffee cozy. On a cold chilly day after lunch I headed up here for a cup of coffee. I was pleasantly greeting and the counterman went over the menu for me. In addition to coffee, they sell espresso, teas, cold drinks, as well as sandwiches and desserts. The cookies are very big but reasonably priced. They offer free Wi Fi here and there are many tables where you can sit down and either work on your laptop or just relax. I opted for their dark roast of the day which was called "Black Magic." You have a choice of either having it in a porcelain or a paper cup. I also opted for a piece of apple walnut coffee cake. He was kind enough to slice it in half for me since I knew I couldn't finish it and save it for later. Again he served it to me on a porcelain dish. Forks and knives along with your cream, etc are located behind you which faces the ordering area. Both the coffee and coffeecake were out of this world good! A small cup was just enough for me. They also sell coffee beans here as well if you want special roasts or decaffeinated. Take out is available. This is a great place to unwind, hang out with friends, or do work. The service has changed. The baristas were so rude and impolite. We ordered drinks and they were way too sweet and tasted watered down. It has happened a few times and I just don't recommend this unless you are looking for diner watery coffee. The ambiance sucked and pretentiousness that loomed in the air would make even Joan Rivers stop and stare. There is nothing to even be pretentious about....the cashier rolled his eyes when I asked about their product and made it feel like it was an imposition to take the order. I have had better service at a chain Starbucks and that saying something. With what's going on in the world, a little kindness would go a long way. I regret tipping them. If I hadn't been in a rush, I would have requested a refund but the energy spent requesting wouldn't be worth my time. Love this cute coffee shop in Lebo. Stopped here a few times before and most recently on a Sunday morning. Street parking is free on Sunday and easier to find so that's a plus! The shop is comfy and cozy offering a cute variety of seating. They have differ the baked goods, snacks, and breakfast items to choose from. Their coffee and tea menu is huge-I ordered a rose white chocolate mocha and it was delicious. We both had their breakfast sandwich and a cinnamon roll which was also very tasty. I came to check this place out on a Saturday after a workout class down the block. My first thought was I could grab a coffee and read my book relax. I don't frequent too many mt lebo shops so I wanted to go and explore. I walked in and to my surprise this place was BUSY! Everyone had the same idea! The line moved quickly & the staff was working hard to get everyone's orders done. Every seat in the place was taken, normally I'd be disappointed but in this case I just loved seeing a small business doing so well! My drink was delicious. I had an almond milk latte , I def want to go back and try some others. The pastries looked so so so so so good, my mouth was watering I had the will power to resist this time since that post workout high was still in effect. I love everything about this coffee shop. I discovered it because my running friends were meeting here Saturday mornings as a starting point for runs. Then sticking around to enjoy great company and great coffee. The interior is spacious. I was impressed by the size. There is a front area with a variety of seating, middle area with the counter and table with sugar/cream/etc. and then more seating in the back. You can easily push chairs/tables together for larger groups, but small groups or individuals can be comfy as well. There are a nice variety of options with both cold and warm beverages, including coffees and teas. There are always 2-3 main coffee options (usually one flavored). There is also a seasonal beverage. Like Irish coffee for st. Patrick's day and chocolate raspberry for Valentine's Day. Their food items are divine. I almost always order a quiche. Sometimes they have 2-3 varieties available. I've tried about four different kinds and have enjoyed every one of them. I also really love their cinnamon rolls. Huge, tasty and fresh. There is on street, metered parking and a municipal lot a few blocks away. If you are in the area, or if you are willing to travel for an awesome coffee experience, this is the place to go. read more

Really awesome little place! nice crowd, tasty coffee and while I wasn't able to sample any of the baked goods, I might have to return just for that! I had the caramel nut coffee it it was delicious! Flavorful without being too sweet, not acidic -- served perfect temperature. The atmosphere was very nice as well. Plenty of places to sit and a choice between tables and armchairs. Nicely crowded but not too noisy. The shop was also convenient to parking with plenty of street parking available and an affordable garage right across the street. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but this is my favorite coffee shop in Pittsburgh. It's not the hippest and it's not the coolest, but something about it gives off a very welcoming community feel. Upon entering, the place smells AMAZING. Coffee shops in general smell nice but this one smells extra delicious because they make an assortment of baked goods in house. Breads, muffins, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes....all made in their kitchen in the back. Yum! I've enjoyed the coffee here more than most other places I've tried too. Their coffee did not have the burnt taste that you get from some of the popular coffee places. Overall, this place makes me want to become a regular coffee drinker just to give me a reason to visit. Uptown is Day 4 - the latte with oat milk was 10/10 - the barista went out of his way to be engaging and kind. The space is cute and would be an easy place to work for an hour and get out of the house. The food selection looked wonderful- customers came in asking for their favs (that were sold out so clearly popular). I would have loved to see one option for patrons who can't eat baked goods...have allergies, celiac or are vegan etc. Fresh fruit? Coconut milk yogurt parfait? I wish I could eat some of their baked deliciousness- but there were zero options other than a bag of chips and I'm not ruining this wonderful latte with that.
