This spot is one of the cutest coffee shops I have been to in Pittsburgh. The inside is decorated beautifully and they have so much seating at tables, couches and outdoor tables. The pastries are incredible. We got the Apple Walnut cake and one of their chocolate chip cookies. Absolutely delicious!! This is right on Washington in uptown Mount Lebanon, so you either get street parking or there's a parking garage/lot nearby. There was a small amount of seating outside with a great deal of seating inside, along with a couch that I saw. The place is very cute, it was packed for a Monday mid-morning. It looks well kept and clean. They had loads of pastries and goodies that she said they make in-house. I unfortunately did not try anything today, but plan to in the future. Everything looked seriously beautiful. I ordered a latte with oat milk. She said they make lavender and brown sugar cinnamon syrups in-house. I decided to try the brown sugar cinnamon since that's something not everybody has. The syrup had great flavor and tasted exactly as advertised. Overall, it tasted great and was just touching the border of too sweet for me, but didn't go over the line. They also had the smaller ice cubes that we all know and love-- "the good ice" Service was quick and nice. I think it was a little pricey but what's new these days. Lots to choose from here, but no gluten-free options when it came to food for anyone who needs to know. read more

Amazing coffee!!! I finally had a Chai that wasn't overpowered with syrup. The baked goods were delicious and affordable. The shop itself is warm and inviting with cute intimate seating while having enough space to not feel cluttered. The staff was extremely personable. Every time I'm in the South Hills, I always have to stop here for a coffee! They have such a great selection of syrups, and I love trying a new one each time in my latte. Beyond good coffee though, they also offer some delicious baked goods. In particular, their giant cookies are SO good - they have a buttery, chewy taste that reminds me of a Mrs. Field's cookie (but better). M&M is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any flavor! This is a cute little coffee shop in downtown Mt. Lebanon. There is ample seating inside with some couches. On a cold, snowy day, it was super warm and cozy. Service was prompt despite there being a line. I got my coffee quickly and it was warm. The cappuccino was delicious and the price for a large was very reasonable. I wish I had seen the baked goods before I ordered but I'll be sure to grab some next time! There were some delicious looking baked bars and banana bread and pumpkin chocolate chip bread as well as what looked like some breakfast sandwiches and muffins. It's one thing when a business changes ownership and time is needed for the community to adjust to the "new". It's quite another when the "new" erodes the good will of the community. Uptown is physically dirty. The line makes no sense with bakery at the end, no instruction as to where they will hide your drink when ready. Cluttered counters, garbage strewn and filthy restrooms. Service is the reason for the poor review. Not enough with two ringing and making drinks. Long wait. And plain unpleasant. Snarky perpetual bad mood is what you are served with your morning joe. I never opened my mouth before I was verbally accosted by the Jane at the register. They speak to customers with alarming disrespect. With many other choices for your coffee needs in Lebo, choose somewhere that won't make you want to cry in your chai or just plain run away. read more

Sometimes the service is pretty slow, I've had to turn around and leave because I was standing in line for ten minutes which seems kind of long for a coffee shop. Wow, coming from the overpriced coffee shop prices in San Francisco, I am so shocked at how nice the prices are here. There are so many options and different things you can pick from a coffee drink, a non coffee drink, and sweets. The barista is a nice as well since I didn't know what a blended latte was and was a bummed when he said it had milk powder in it. I am lactose intolerant so I am glad they do have non-dairy milk products with their drinks. Usually at popular coffee shops or even shops that order a limited amount of sweets, it's usually all gone but not here. I don't know how parking is like on what type of day since we used public parking and paid $2 bucks for the spot. It's a nice and simple walk from that parking area. I stopped by Uptown Coffee for a breakfast sandwich recently while I was in the area. They have egg & cheese sandwiches ready to go, so service was quick and easy. The sandwiches aren't served hot, but they do have a microwave available if you want to heat it on your own. In addition to the sandwiches, they had a selection of baked goods as well which seems to be their specialty (in addition to coffee, of course). The staff was really friendly and there were plenty of tables available on a weekday afternoon to sit and work or enjoy your treats. read more

I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife for our morning coffees. Every Sunday morning we try to go to a new local coffee shop and on this day we happened to choose Uptown Coffee. This shop is located right on Washington Road in the business district of Mt Lebanon. The inside of the space is actually quite large with tons of seating with the tables looking like retro diner tables and then some comfortable seating as well. Beyond that they have a display case for their pastries and other food, all of which is scratch baked. Unfortunately on this morning I already had a car full of pastries or else I would have tried something. There was just a single worker taking both the orders and making the drinks on this morning, so with the mini rush that came after me, our barista got a little backed up. For our coffees on this morning I was looking at their seasonal menu which was still fall whenever I was hoping for winter. In any case I saw that they had peppermint flavoring and so I ended up ordering a small peppermint latte for my wife and a large for myself. After a couple of minutes wait I had both of our coffees and headed out to the car. The coffee here ended being pretty as there was a nice ratio of milk to espresso and that let the richness of the espresso come through. What was disappointing about it was the lack of peppermint flavor though. While I appreciate that they didn't want it to taste like toothpaste, I definitely could have used more. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While the syrup in my coffee was lacking, the coffee itself was good and I would like to try one of their baked goods in the future. read more

Stopped in Friday night to try another of the few coffee shops open past 6pm in the area. Upon arrival the shop had a warm welcoming vibe and the staff was friendly. As my wife & I browsed the menu, I noticed their cookies were homemade (they also had a board of flavors for special order). My wife got an iced tea (if I remember right it was blackberry) I got a Belgian Hot Cocoa. The flavor of the cocoa was perfect and natural (not ultra sweet like the powder stuff). We also got a nutmeg cookie & sugar cookie with sprinkles to go. The cookies definitely hit the spot. This is a hidden gem in Mt Lebanon that'll be a frequent stop when we're in the area. read more

i love, love uptown coffee. i have been going there since i started middle school. uptown coffee is the perfect cafe vibe for getting quality service/drinks and to study. i remember in middle school we would all hang out there after school to do homework. the employees were so kind and never looked down on us even though we were so young. we didn't even need to buy any coffee to stay and hang out. the employees figured a bunch of 13 year olds didn't need caffeine! and in high school we would pop by to satisfy our coffee addictions and study every once and a while. still the employees were nothing but kind. now that i'm older and working in uptown i stop by to grab beverages for the office. we love their iced tea, lemonade, and of course their hot chocolate!! read more

This is one of my favorite shops to visit in the South Hills! They've been around since the 1990s and they definitely know what they're doing. Their products are good and their space is adorable! As the name implies, Uptown Coffee is a great stop for a cup of Jo, although there's certainly no shame in ordering coffee free beverages here! Drink options include the classic coffee orders (hot and cold), hot chocolate, tea blends, and seasonal smoothies. In my experience, all are always super tasty. Speaking as someone who didn't drink coffee for years, I never had a problem finding something to sip here. But now that I'm exploring the world of coffee blends, I've been able to sample that part of the menu, too. And as far as I'm concerned, Uptown's lattes and mochas have been some of the best I've come across in the entire city! (Their apple butter latte this past fall? AMAZING. That is all.) As if the great drinks weren't enough, Uptown also offers a big selection of homemade cookies, breads, and cake. There are some tempting deli options as well, but it's those baked goods that will call to your sweet tooth and potentially derail your dieting efforts. (You've been warned.) Finally, the staff are very polite and sweet, and work hard to keep the place clean and cozy. As a result it's easy to lose track of time here just relaxing in a chair or on a couch. Because of all of the above, I highly recommend Uptown to anyone - whether they need a good round of caffeine, or they're looking for a place to meet with friends, or they want to settle in with a book, or they need to get a little work on their computer done...well, you get the idea! read more

Uptown Coffee is a wonderful little coffee shop and bakery in the heart of downtown Mt. Lebanon. I love seeing the fresh pastries roll out of the oven and let me just tell you about those cinnamon rolls -- WOW! The homemade cream cheese frosting on top is just out of this world. I like the little breakfast sandwiches made fresh each morning and that aoli on the sandwich is fantastic. I do enjoy their coffee drinks and they offer fast, friendly service. If you haven't been, Mt. Lebanon is so walkable which I love. This would be a great spot to grab coffee and browse the local shops. Uptown is a go-to breakfast stop every time we visit family in Mt. I got a medium latte with marshmallow syrup and it tasted like a latte with a teaspoon of sugar. Which...is a latte I drank with no quibble, but not what I ordered. If you're looking for a marshmallow flavor in your coffee, head over to Black Forge. I also got the oatmeal white chocolate chip cookie. That was also fine. The table we sat at was sticky. When I left the coffee shop, I smelled like a diner- you know when you leave a diner or chains like Subway and your hair and clothes smell like the place? It was exactly that kind of thing. Uptown was my go-to for years. The new owner is disinterested, the service is lackadaisical (an example: asked the barista for a bag to carry my items and she said they don't have bags, then the other barista got me a bag from under the counter), and the quality of the baked goods has deteriorated, as has the value. I can't recommend it anymore, which makes me sad because it used to be great. I got a piece of pie for takeout, when I got home and looked in the box I laughed - it was 3.5 inches in length and at it's widest point less than an inch and a half. Sent a photo to the owner and she said yes, that is our standard slice of pie. Oh well. read more
