Oh my word, Hilltop, how I loved this visit. First off, Tim and Sam are wonderful humans. Welcomed us and everyone that came in after us with such kindness and welcoming. They gave us the rundown on all their drinks and their homemade options. Truly just kind people. The drinks were out of this world. The house made recipes really elevate their drinks to different levels. The Buckeye Latte was like drinking a liquid Buckeye. And again, their house made oat and pistachio milks are just incredible. An absolute hidden gem! The owner is a wealth of knowledge to his craft. He roasts his own beans and makes his own nut milks - pistachio was delicious! They have an excellent selection of organic teas including real masala chai. So many local options like honey, baked goods, etc. This is a must stop! This place made me feel better than my own home. It was my first time at Hilltop Café, and I can honestly say the kindness and warmth here are rare to find. The owner and the staff weren't doing this for money -- it was so clear that they genuinely love what they do. They even let me try their handmade products, and everything was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is so cozy and comforting that I wanted to stay until the evening. They truly made my day. From now on, I'll be coming here every week, at least once. Back at it again at this lovely coffee shop where I am so happy to support a local business that is so consistent with kindness. I went in for a TGTG bag of coffee beans which makes me want to start making coffee at home with how many options there are for beans. I switched to instant from when I was abroad and haven't really made other types since I have been back. I ordered a drip coffee with almond milk (Tim was so kind to put the almond milk in a cup to go for me) and I ordered a mocha with pistachio milk. I also ordered a macaron which Tim was so kind to give me an extra one. I am so happy that this is gluten free as it's made with almond flour and not the traditional wheat flour. I can't wait to go back again and now he is open later which is really helpful during rush hour traffic. Parking was back to normal as they had construction the last time I was there. read more

Service was great! Pastry was yummy but most important, the coffee was exceptional and very reasonably priced. We loved the ambiance, artfully decorated and assorted seating options -several tables of different sizes with chairs and some comfy chairs as well - books to borrow and games to play plus puzzles to build. A microwave available to warm your pastry or reheat your coffee but I seem to recall that's not necessary because there are free refills?! Oh , and rewards program if offered, too! It's been a while since I've visited Hilltop so when I visited today, I was surprised to see Tim behind the counter. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with Oatmilk and it was honestly the best latte I've ever had. While I waited, he offered samples of brewed coffee to try. His medium roast (Honduras) was excellent. I usually have cream and sugar in my coffee but this was so well balanced that I could have had it black. Tim also offered me a sample of pistachio milk (who even knew that was a thing?!) and it was SO good. Tim is so warm and welcoming and his creations are amazing. I'll definitely make it a point to visit more often! read more

I've been here a few times since it's within walking distance of my house. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte here I believe this is the second time and it's really good and refreshing for the summer. Every time I've been in here I've had great customer service. The staff is very welcoming and warm. The prices are very fair as well. When I went in today I mentioned I dropped my dog off at home to come back and get a drink and they gave me a pup cup to bring home to him! Stopped in for coffee and a cinnamon roll. Coffee was very good. The cinnamon roll was ok. They had a 10oz cup size, which was good for me. Prices were on the less expensive side for a small coffee shop (at least for my order). The cafe is on the smaller side. They have a variety of seating, including 3 or 4 square tables which could be used for working. They had some other seating for talking, and board games. We didn't attempt the wifi. For getting work done, not sure about outlets. Everyone inside was friendly. read more

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, Hilltop Coffee is a tiramisu cake. Each bite is layered and delicious. I'm always nervous about visiting new-to-me coffee shops when there's no parking lot in sight, but Hilltop Coffee is surrounded by free street parking! It's set at the corner of two streets, and it offers a few tables on the inside for 2-4 people. I enjoyed my vanilla latte immensely, and I also loved chatting with the barista about reading! I stopped by here this past Sunday with my wife for our morning coffee. Every Sunday we try to hit up a new local coffee shop in Pittsburgh and on this day we decided to try Hilltop Coffee. It's located on Arlington Ave in an area of Pittsburgh that I can't say I have ever visited before. However the inside of this shop is cute with a couple of tables and then some comfortable chairs as well. It's not large but they have artwork on the walls which is for sale and a display case for pastries as well as a cooler which has cold drinks in it. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a regular large latte and then my wife got a peppermint mocha latte. We also went with a cinnamon and sugar donut and an Apple fritter from the display case. As the lady behind the counter was serving us the pastries she noted that the donuts were fresh that morning. After a couple of minute wait I had everything and was on my way. I first started with the fritter and thought it was good as it was sweet, moist and had a nice apple flavor. Up next was the cinnamon and sugar doughnut which was decent. You could taste both the cinnamon and sugar but it wasn't anything special. Finally, after I had eaten both of those I was able to try the coffee. I ended up enjoying it but I think that if I would have had just the espresso alone, that it would have been too bitter. However, with the whole milk, it actually tamped down on that bitterness. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I enjoyed the baked goods and while I think the espresso alone would have been too bitter, it worked in my latte. read more

I ordered a white chocolate mocha with three shots of espresso topped with whipped cream over ice even though it wasn't on the menu they was able to make it and they got the drink down right and it was very delicious I will definitely be back for more. read more

I recently moved to Munhall and was disappointed (but not really surprised) to learn that there is no coffeeshop in the area. The closest non-chain is Hilltop Coffee, 15 minutes away in Arlington. There wasn't much going on in the area on a cold, wet weekend, but that meant it was easy to find free street parking on the main drag. Inside, the shop is cute, with artists' work on the walls for sale, and upbeat pop songs coming through the speakers. I enjoyed a hot chocolate and a delicious raspberry bar as I worked at one of the several wooden tables. There are also a couple of cushy chairs, a well-stocked bookcase, and a handicap-accessible unisex bathroom (alas, there is a step up to get into the shop). Dan kept me company, as we swapped stories about studying German history in graduate school. I will definitely be back! read more

Hilltop Coffee is easily one of my top 5 favorite coffee shops in the burgh. What I love most about them is how dedicated they are in supporting local Pittsburgh businesses. The coffee is roasted here in the burgh, the baked goods are made here in the burgh, and they feature local artists in their shop. The coffee is SO good. I'm kind of a coffee snob and I reallyyyyy like the coffee here. I have tried their cappuccino and latte (both with soy milk)- both delicious. We have also enjoyed their iced coffee and their cold brew. Most recently I tried their matcha latte. Matcha lattes can be a hit or miss for me but there's is PERFECT. The perfect balance between earthy and sweet- it was such an afternoon treat. Not only is their coffee amazing.. Jamie and Dan are SO friendly and sweet. Can't go wrong with a trip here! read more

There are some drinks on the menu that you'll find in other shops, but I'll bet they're better here. And there are some things you won't find anywhere else but here, and they're pretty great too.
