Cool atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Food was fabulous! I ordered the Sirloin Cobb Salad. The beef was tender and juicy. All the ingredients complimented each other beautifully. And the dressing - normally I don't like my dressing to be added to my salad for me, however these guys know how to apply it so that it isn't too overpowering and allows you to still savor the food. we were recommended this restaurant for lunch and it did not disappoint! we walked in and the greeter that sat us was very friendly and our server came by (who was also very nice) and asked us what we would like to drink. we had an appetizer of cheese curds that was very tasty and the main course of pot roast! The pot roast was very tender and lean as well with some good tasting garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. My wife and I stopped here for dinner on our way into Omaha for a zoo-centric weekend trip. Our experience was consistent with that of many of the recent reviewers. The drinks were great, but the food left something to be desired. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp (tasty), the mac and cheese (served oddly luke-warm and could use more flavor), and the pot roast (remarkably tough, dry, and flavorless - described as shoe leather by my wife). If we find ourselves in Omaha again, we will consider trying Upsteam again and focusing on the basic bar food and apps that appear to be their strength. read more

That said, while the service wasn't perfect, our food still came in decent time. The service was nothing to brag about. The host(s) acted like they didn't know what they were doing. It also took a long time to get drinks and out order. Had the 12 beer sampler and there was not a bad brew in the mix (and most were fantastic). Also had a bowl of chili which I liked a lot though it was borderline too spicy. Dinner was the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly (medium rare) with a nice crust. The glaze, eggplant fries, blue cheese aioli and garlic mashed potatoes were a very good complement. This is a review of breakfast at Upstream. According to Yelp, Upstream Brewery opens at 11AM on Saturdays. This was not the case, as they were open and serving breakfast earlier than that time in a great spot located near an outdoor street marketplace. The service was very good and the food was extremely tasty. There was also no wait for a table, unlike some other spots in Omaha. Went here on a Wednesday night for dinner with a group of 5. Calamari and fried pickles for appetizers were delicious. I got the fish and chips whivh was good, for a pub style restaurant. Nothing special, but exactly what i expected. As for the beer, they have some good brews, their Red was great and their Wheat Beer was good too. The stroganoff is good but that was one of the only highlights of my visit. Another member of my party ordered the pork schnitzel and it was huge (if you order it be prepared to take some home or share it) the pork was placed on top of a bed of lack luster veggies. For dessert the bread pudding is good but the "Brewers Delight" is dry and has little to no chocolate flavor. So all in all the service was good but the food is meh at best. This is only a service and food review. I did not have their beer. While on a business trip a co-worker and I decided to try Upstream. We arrived before the dinner rush so it was not very busy. The hostess was rude and unfriendly and that worsened when we requested to be seated at a bigger table rather than the table for two she initially wanted to seat us at. Our waiter was very pleasant. However, you could tell he was new. The pretzel bites and shrimp appetizers were good. We decided to split an entree. I was surprised when we were brought two small, empty plates for our dinner. In my experience when I have split an entree the kitchen divides it and plates it. The vegetables were not cooked. The carrots were raw. The steak however had great flavor and was cooked to perfection. The manager did comp the shrimp appetizer when our waiter informed him of our uncooked vegetables. read more

Maybe my favorite place in Omaha. The only complaint I have is every time we try to sit outside on the upstairs patio (Old Market) the service is awful. However, Pizza and Pint night is a must on Wednesday nights after 9:00. I've tried all the pizzas and all are very good; however the Steak Pizza and Ojo Caliente Pizza are fantastic. I've also had the Pork Schnitzel and Smoked Gouda and Beer Soup and really enjoyed both. Oh, and they have great beer! I had pretty high hopes for this place, but it was kind of disappointing. It looks wonderful and is aesthetically pleasing, though everything was just kind of "meh". The macaroni and cheese entree was soupy, though fairly tasty. The fish & chips that were touted as a house favorite were overcooked and had kind of a metallic-looking tinge to it underneath all the breading. The beers were just okay as well. We tried the IPA which was pretty okay, but surprisingly & exceedingly dry. The chai brown saison had an interesting initial flavor, but 16oz was WAY too much.
