Don't get the burger. Dry and lacking sufficient amount of sauce. Not to mention....the bun was disasterous. The beer cheese soup was great. Mike was also great. Eat somewhere else and then have a liquid diet here. read more

Went here when my husband and I were visiting the city. We both loved the beer, the atmosphere, and our server took good care of us. The meals we ordered, the meat portion was good but the veggies had no flavor and weren't cooked properly. We also order dessert; cheesecake was delicious! Bread pudding not so much. Overall good experience with good beer. read more

I ordered a thai salad which had more kick than I expected but was pretty good. It was not anything spectacular but still not bad. Service was good and they had a nice compliment of tv's. Wish I would have been able to try some of the brews but had a long day the next morning and stuck with the root beer which was actually on the beer menu because it was brewed in house. Made me glad I did not order a beer because the root beer was nothing special. Not very flavorful and tasted more like cola then root beer, just never got that sweet and spicy root beer flavor you expect. read more

We took our 16 month old daughter and we're pleased with the child friendly service and atmosphere. The IPA was great and all of our food was very good. Our server was fantastic except we had to wait longer than usual to pay the bill. Dropped one star for the wait at the end and a mixup with our reservation when we arrived. read more

The food came out cold and the service from our waiter was sub-par. I will never go back .... I had colleagues who also flew in from out of town. read more

The staff was prompt upon entering and rather friendly. We sat with our infant and they were accommodating with a highchair. The food took a while but what we ordered was worthwhile. My hubby did the Italian pizza and I did the 8oz filet mignon... Wasn't a fan of the aioli but I never am so no big deal, the steak melted in my mouth and didn't need sauce. I will return when I come back to Omaha next year for clinical study. read more

Amazing. I had the 12oz Omaha steak ribeye w/ the blue cheese crumbles, and it was simply the best steak I ever had. I was promptly seated, on a Saturday night, staff was kind and very informative. read more

Probably the best steakhouse on a college student budget. I do not drink, but their appatizers and entrees were good nonetheless. My personal favorite regular menu item is the rib eye with the sriracha mayonnaise. However, every time I go they have great specials too. Their wait staff is attentive and accommodating. They serve all people, even poor college students, with the upmost care. Tbh this is my 5th time going, so I can say it is not just a handful of their staff but the values the establishment has as a whole. read more

Great experience!! Katie Ham took great care of us and even let us order off the happy hour menu with 2 minutes to spare. The food was amazing! Had the pretzel bites and artichoke dip. Also the sweet tart martinis were so yummy! Perfect for a 'end of work week' celebration! Atmosphere is excellent and everyone looked to be genuinely enjoying themselves! Adequately staffed which allowed for the personal attention from Ms. Katie! Keep it up girl and keep it up Upstream! :) will return soon. read more

Another great lunch. We had a party of 5, the sever very efficiently handled the separate checks. Good selection of beer. The seasonal ale was quite good. We all ordered comfort food selections, the pot roast and chicken fried chicken good and satisfying. Nice veggies. Prices very reasonable. Will be back. read more

Stopped here to eat and grab a free beer from the visitors center Beer Tour. Our server was great and let me sample a beer before I made my decision. We started with fried pickles that were AMAZING! I had bbq beef tacos that were really good and my friend had a cheeseburger that she said was really good. The kids mac n cheese was a huge portion and she even got a side of mashed potatoes that was huge too! I wish I lived closer I would like to try more off of their menu! read more

This place is in desperate need of an overhaul. Went there for a business meeting/dinner and the price to value of the food is WAY off. I ordered the "special" which was sirloin steak and it was awful. The other two in the party ordered the same and the results were the same. $85 for 3 steaks that there were obviously trying to get rid of. The Upstream in West Omaha closed last year and the writing is on the wall for this location. read more

Crowded. Loud. Flavorless warm root beer and hit-or-miss food. Good beef lover's salad, cheese pizza and steak. Awful jambalaya. Hit this place for some meat when there's little or no wait and you'll probably be happy. Not worth the wait on a busy Saturday night, though. read more

We went in February, 2010. Great location in a hip downtown area with cobblestoned streets and trendy shops nearby. I had to get a steak - when would I be back in Omaha? - and it was very good. There was a bit too much of the horseradish/butter garnish, causing it to nose out the meat flavors by a little more than it should have. AR absolute raved about the gnocchi. The six-beer sampler was easy to order and a good price. Nothing stands out six months later but I remember liking them all. The dining area is huge, but we got there early and (as a result?) had great service. Our waiter made enough conversation for us to feel relaxed and as though we were getting a well-defined Omaha experience, but not so much to make us feel like clueless tourists. Much appreciated. He also charmed AR into getting a slice of cake after she was about completely full - very impressive. Recommended as part of a walking tour of the Old Market district. read more

Our first meal in Omaha while visiting, and it was outstanding. Found it while walking through the Old Market area. It was an unusually warm March afternoon, and their outdoor sidewalk patio was open. Started with one of their cask Ales which was excellent. Our group had 3 different sandwiches (pork tenderloin, roast beef and turkey club), and the kids macaroni and cheese. Every single dish was fabulous. The sandwiches were on different fresh breads, and each had inventive toppings and sauces that perfectly complimented. Service was very good, attentive yet giving us time to enjoy the beautiful afternoon. We never went into the restaurant, too happy to be outside after a long winter. Definately recommend for the great food and drink. read more

Upstream actually has great food, but it depends on what you like, and what you order. The beer of course is great, and has always been great, and if you don't know what you like try a sample. The staff is usually pretty upbeat, but like anyone they get tired and grumpy. It really depends on the night, the business of the place, and the staff member who waits on you. I go here pretty often, and know some of the people to ask for. The price is a little high, and that is the biggest drawback. Not to mention some of the favorites on the menu have changed a little bit, and some new more "bar" type food has been added. I am sure that is an appeal for some, but I am not a fried pickle person. The beer bread is amazing, and anything that you order from the bakery will be too! Many people like the bread pudding, I just don't like bread pudding at all. Wine selection is great, and overall it is a fun place. Pizza/Pint night is a must, and their specials are usually fantastic. read more

Had dinner here. Ordered the Omaha Steak. Real grisly in spots, when I finally got to a tender spot it was good. Martini came out dirty although I didn't order it that way. Came in while in the area, would try it again. Service was good and love the dining room read more

This Omaha mainstay is everything it aims to be and should be. The food is very consistent, filling and tasty. There are no surprises here. The beer is excellent. The Dundee Scotch Ale is superb. They have a wide selection of 8-12 beers on tap at any time. There are numerous, pricier, limited-edition beers for sale downstairs. The 5 gallon kegs are an excellent buy if you are looking for an alternative to a standard schwag beer from the local liquor store, but call a few days ahead. But what I really want to discuss is their caramel bread pudding. It's the best bread pudding I have ever eaten, and quite possibly the best dessert in Omaha. Excellent with a glass of stout. We often skip dessert when we go to other restaurants in the Old Market so that we can make a special trip to the Upstream for this dream of a dessert. read more

One of my favorite spots in Omaha. Good variety of food selection (pizza, burgers, pasta, etc.), and their beer is pretty tasty too! I had the jambalaya and the house IPA. Both delicious. Service was quick and friendly too. Overall great place for dinner, or even to just have a beer and shoot some pool. read more

So I don't usually, well never, comment on service but after yesterday's service I couldn't resist. I have been to multiple breweries with my family and have had an exceptional experience. We were excited to try out the Upstream Brewery because my wife's colleague mentioned it but it fell short to say the least. We showed up to eat with our two kids at 4:45 which we thought wouldn't be a problem because we beat the dinner crowd. Well we did because there were about six people in the dining area but we were shunned to a room in the back that was under construction. I'm not sure if it was because we were with our kids or what but apparently they didn't want to put us around the few people that were there. Nonetheless it was an experience that couldn't have been worse. I suppose this isn't a family establishment so bringing your kids is off the plate. read more

This restaurant was ok for a restaurant. The brewery is pretty awesome! I had the beer Gouda cheese soup and it was really good. I also had the raspberry chicken which was ok. Not to impressed! Wish I had time to try the beers! read more

The upstream is always a very solid dinning or drinking spot. They have a great BLT salad that is awesome. Great atmosphere, portions, and staff. Beer is hit or miss, but overall a great place. read more

Excellent food and atmosphere, great service, all around outstanding restaurant. I recommend the artichoke asiago cheese dip.

Amazing service and are waitress Sarah A. was a great and fun staff member made us feel at home.

My husband and I ate there on St. Patrick's day for dinner. Even though it was busy, we were seated right away. Our waiter was personable and prompt (though he did disappear for almost 20 minutes towards the end of our meal...it wasn't a big deal as we were not in a hurry to get the check , but if we had been it could have been frustrating). We had fried pickles which were well priced and delicious. They have Coke, not Pepsi, which was a plus in my book. My husband enjoyed his beer. He ordered a plain hamburger and enjoyed it. I ordered the potato gnocchi. I didn't like it. I think it was a good dish! I was simply trying to branch out and trying something new. The food was fine and well prepared, just not my thing I guess! The building is huge, but didn't feel too loud or crowded and the service was good and the prices were decent. If I were from the area I'd be likely to go back. read more

Super speedy service. Delicious beer - I had the Red Lager. Good food. Chili very tasty. Fish & chips hot, crispy and flavorful with big chunks of flaky white fish. Homemade tartar sauce a nice touch. read more

Ok this is a good brew pub and the menu looks appetizing. I came here and had the NY Strip and thought that they also have a few more cuts, it should be a pretty good steak. Well here is how it went down. I sat at the bar and the service I received was excellent so this review is mainly about the food. I asked for the steak to be cooked med rare and it came out med well. it was still moist but over done for my liking. It also came with a small salad and fries. If you like a med well cooked steak then this is the place for you. read more

I've given the Upstream the very last of my "one last chances". The service tonight was horrible (the waitress failed to mention that the pasta special had a honking piece of fish on it - something that this vegetarian would have liked to have been made aware of). When the food came, and I told staff I couldn't eat the fish, she stared at me, rather forcing me to suggest that maybe the cook could adjust this dish, by, oh, say putting more artichokes on it and taking away the fish (that was not mentioned). The pasta arrived (again), so greasy and tasting mostly of oily lemon. For twenty bucks, I could have done much better raiding my own pantry. You've been warned. read more

Decent beer. Decent Cobb salad. Weird service--my server kept suggesting drinks/apps/entrees, like "can I get you started with a Beer A or a Beer B?" For every course. It was very strange, frankly. And I found it offputting. The outdoor eating space is lovely. Overall you have better options in Old Market so I probably won't return. read more

This is one of the best places for lunch in downtown Omaha. The service is extremely fast and friendly. I cannot say enough good things about Jill who runs the bar area. I have come in with less than 15 minutes and Jill has been able to get me lunch and get me out the door. The food is always great. read more

Set for over 30 min and they never even took my order, I will never return. Need service, to many other options on the block who want my business. read more

The food is usually good, but their menu is limited. They only have 2-3 types of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and steaks. It often takes a really long time to get your food. When we were there this past weekend, it took 35 minutes for our dinner to arrive. They need to hire more bussing staff. When we were seated, there were 5 open tables but all were still dirty with dishes and leftover food sitting around (gross). Beer is reasonably priced, but the food is rather expensive. As far as breweries go, it's just mediocre. read more

Good service, flavorful microbrews, fantastic Old Market location. That's the good stuff. Unfortunately the food was at best average. Luke-warm french fries and a burger that was sadly and significantly out-sized by the soggy bun it came with. Big disappointment for me, but I'd be willing to try something else of the menu. read more

I've been to Upstream several times and have been disappointed in the food every single time. Particularly, last night I was there and ordered a medium filet and received a rare steak. I sent it back and it returned to me as a well done and charred piece of meat. It came with a side of cheddar cheese grits that were cold and disgusting by the time I got my plate back. I changed my veg side from asparagus to carrots and the carrots that I got were bland with some of them firm and some of them mushy. It was a mostly inedible meal. I'm also not a fan of any of their beers. I've been through the sampler a couple of times and am not impressed. The ONLY thing that I would ever go back for is the Smoked Gouda and Beer soup. It is delicious and has been every time I've been there. But even that wouldn't entice me to go back anytime soon. Overall, pass on Upstream and try one of the other restaurants in the Old Market. read more

Beer was excellent! I had the pale ale (good) and oktoberfest (absolutely excellent), while my partner had the IPA (very good). We also sampled the cask beer (excellent) and chocolate stout (gross, a good initial taste, then a horrible spicy pepper flavor, but we were warned it wasn't for everyone). The food, however, was not so good. He had the pot roast. The mashed potatoes and veggies were fine, but the beef wasn't tender at all. I had a veggie burger. The bun was too large and dry, and the burger itself fell apart quickly and was pretty flavorless. The standout here was the beer and gouda soup that I had with the burger - amazing!! The atmosphere was pretty nice, but we were seated upstairs in the dining part away from the bar, so it really wasn't anything special. When we left around 7 on a Tuesday, the place was packed, though. It also seems to do a good happy hour business. If I ever find myself in Omaha in the fall again, I'm going back and just getting the beer and gouda soup and a ton of the Oktoberfest. read more

It's hard to review restaurants in Omaha because most of them are comfort food joints. On a scale of 1 to 10, how filling, tasty, and unchallenging was my meal at Upstream? I would say, about 7 or 8. So it's not bad for that. I managed to pick a couple of good beers from the list - don't be afraid to experiment. The descriptions make some of the beers sound more adventurous than they are - you'll land safely in a well-balanced, flavorful end of the spectrum. I made a reservation with some special requests for my party, none of which were observed. We had to insist on a different table once they showed us the one they reserved for us. When I expressed some surprise and disappointment at this, they assured me that OpenTable did, in fact, convey to them my special request - they just hadn't read it. So they both failed to pay attention to an explicit request made as clearly as I could possibly make it and then didn't have the sense to at least blame it on someone else. read more

I had heard a lot about the Upstream, so we paid a visit after a concert. Our first impression was that we put a crimp in the hostess' conversation. I almost left, but my wife said the beer was good. The waitress was pleasant, the beer and food were very good, with large portions. It would benefit the establishment to 1) have some basic training with the greeters, or 2) find someone who at least acts like they enjoy working with the public. When we left, there was no "thank you", no "come again" . . . so we probably won't. There are other places with good beer and better food. So, for my money, I'll find a place that appreciates my business. Food - 6 of 10 Atmosphere - 4 of 10 Beer - 7 of 10 Service - 1 (Unfortunately, even the good waitress couldn't save them on this one). Overall score: 4.5 of 10 read more

Cocktails and beer were good. Server was pleasant but slow. Food was atrocious. I had the teriyaki beef tips and my husband had thai chicken salad. Salad was ok but beef tips were overcooked, noodles were a sloggy mess, and the whole dish was basically inedible. Definitely not worth the money. This is my second time being disappointed at Upstream, and with such a wealth of old market eateries to choose from, it is unlikely that we will be back. read more

Exactly what I wanted and expected from a brew pub. Beer is good, staff is friendly, service is fast. Food isn't over the top but is quality, especially for the price. Your not going to find any culinary revelation but you will find a quality place. read more

I've always had good experiences food and beer-wise at Upstream. In addition, the head-brewer (Dallas) went out of his way to fill one of my personal kegs with their fermented delights. That's the kind of #Omaha-nice act that will keep me and friends frequenting Upstream for years to come. read more
