Crescent Moon Ale House is a must-visit in Omaha! The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, making it a great place to gather with family or friends. They have an impressive selection of beers with something for everyone, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The Reuben sandwich absolutely lived up to its reputation. The sandwich was flavorful, the sauerkraut and Swiss cheese were perfectly balanced, and the rye bread was grilled to perfection. It's easy to see why it's one of their signature menu items.
When you want a good Reuben, you can always count on Crescent Moon! I have had a bad experience once, but it was because there was somebody new in the kitchen that did not know how to properly slice the corned beef. This time was amazing as most times are. The construction down there is killing many restaurants, but I was happy to see the crescent moon was fairly crowded with a large perhaps retirement party. Not a big fan of their sides, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Reuben sandwich and I ate the entire thing which is pretty unusual for me to finish an entrée. Always get extra thousand island dressing. For as crowded as they were service was spot on! Looking forward to my next Reuben fix! How do you take a small detour but was able to park in their parking lot right behind their building which was not a big deal!
Came to try the "best Reuben sandwich" in all of Omaha and it didn't disappoint! I got it with a side of garlic fries and wow, the sandwich was perfectly packaged and not falling at the seams and the meat was so tender. The service was also great - very attentive and friendly! It was nice to see some local people enjoying the food, felt very homey.
Had a great time celebrating a friend's birthday here. It was great that we were able to reserve a table in the basement. We were able to get a few boots for the table and hang out. It was also nice that you can order food and they'll bring it down for you. It did suck because the room as small but they have the music on like it should be an outdoor venue so everyone did have to talk loudly or yell at times to be heard. Only one bartender was down there for the longest time too, so would be nice to have a second so it doesn't take so long.

They have a great selection of German and euro beers, in addition to domestic and mixed drinks, seltzers, etc. The food is definitely a reason to check it out! They have one of--maybe THE--best Reuben in Omaha, so if you're looking for good food and good beer, check it out! The Oktoberfest party is epic, definitely come check that out, and it's pretty fun at Christmas, all the decor is very euro-Christmas vibes. The service is great, quick, friendly, and no nonsense, just what you'd expect from a dive.
Stopped by for a drink and to check out the holiday bar after having steak at the holiday bar. Everything is decked out for Christmas and they have a holiday drink menu too. I tried the gingerbread old fashioned. It was delicious and topped off with a gingerbread cookie. I dont like sweet drinks and this was not sweet at all. They also had roasted nuts which made for a nice snack/dessert. We sat at the bar and the bartender was quick and friendly. Definitely come check out their holiday pop up bar!
With a selection of 60 beers on tap (flights available) and fantastic pub grub, this is one of our go to spots in Omaha. The blackstone Rueben is excellent (we get it on sourdough because my spouse doesn't like rye bread). And the fried bell peppers are amazing. Tuesday night is Pint Night. $5 for a beer from the sponsoring brewery with $4 refills. And you get to keep your first glass to take home. This has been our #1 pub to hit when we are in Omaha for over 10 years. Great ambiance and you can play keno, too!
WOW! I am impressed with this space! Our waiter (I am so sorry I forgot your name - he was tall with a great tan and blonde hair) was amazing. Very tentative and friendly! The cider was phenomenal and the garlic fries were yummy! While I didn't participate in Pint Nite, I recommend coming here for it or trying their ciders on tap!!
It's not a classy bar, but it's authentic, cozy and the Reuben is indeed delicious! We sat at the bar around 1 pm on a weekday. Not too busy, and the waitstaff was attentive but not pushy. The Reuben was delicious! The meat was savory but not overly salty, and didn't overwhelm the sauerkraut or rye. Plus the pickle is always a welcome addition. Definitely worth the price! The Reuben egg rolls were a nice twist, and not as sharp as the sandwich. The beer list is extensive and fairly priced, and they offer 5 oz pours if you want to sample. Good local and regional craft beers to choose from. The seating in the back looked cozy but also looks like it could get cramped when full. Plenty of TVs and keno machines to keep you occupied too. Would definitely come back!
If I had written my Crescent Moon review about five years ago, it would have been five stars. But I didn't have Yelp then and unfortunately, my most recent experience bumped it down to a 4 star. They used to do karaoke and it was the best in the city, so I'm not sure why they did away with it. We were there almost every weekend, so I was extremely sad about that. There are still some fun events though. The second to most recent time I was there was for a drag bunch that was a great time, so check their events on Facebook to see what's upcoming. Our most recent visit was during the holidays and Max and Joe's was doing a holiday pop up. It was a little too busy in there, so we stayed on the Crescent Moon side. Our server was one of the most unpleasant people I've ever met. Very short and snippy with us. I know they were busy and everything, but there's no need to be rude. My husband saw that someone had a fish bowl drink at the table next to us and he was going to ask her what the drink was in it and before he could even get the question fully out of his mouth she shouted YOU CAN'T GET BEER IN IT! When he hadn't even asked about beer, so I was super confused. He got just a normal drink to avoid asking anything further about the fish bowls. He had asked our server for a water also and it never came. He decided to just go to the bar and ask for a water. Our server happened to be the one at the bar, though. He asked "hey, can I get just a water?" And she again SHOUTS at him "You can ASK for one!" Like he hasn't just asked with a fully fledged question mark at the end. It was just all around a super bizarre experience. The food was still on point, as it had been all the other times I'd ever ate there. The Black Forest ham melt is the bomb, and they have the best Reuben in town. The beer was also crisp and cold. I still recommend you go there and try the food/drinks, just maybe go at a time when they're not as busy, as it seemed to trigger our sever to have a pretty bad attitude.
We were told by our Uber driver that we had to visit the Crescent Moon Ale House for their version of the Reuben. We were being driven to the Orleans Room for their Reuben, which was excellent by the way. I can't say the same for the Crescent Moon sandwich. Crescent Moon is actually just kitty corner of the Orleans Room, so the walk was short. It is basically a dive which is fine, we expected that by the Uber driver's comments. The Deep Fried Pickles were excellent. The three ciders that our daughter sampled were not pleasing to her, so she had a cocktail. I had a Sierra Nevada Pilsner, which was fine. But the Reubens, and why we came, were awful. Our daughter, said it best when the sandwich had a mayonnaise texture. I realized the 1000 dressing that was served on the Reuben was too heavy of mayo. The presentation was also terrible. Open them up so we can see the inside of the sandwich, and both slices of the bread were broken...as you can see on the pics. We packaged the sandwiches to go as were were planning to be on a plane the next day back to Oregon. We intentionally left them at the table. They were that bad. Zoe was a pleasant BT/Server who was available whenever we needed her. But food is why we went there, and it was not good.

Fantastic beer selection! Stopped here on a Tuesday night and they usually do $5 pints but were running a mystery holiday beer selection for $3 instead. I've lived in Omaha 18 years and had not yet tried their famous Rueben sandwich. I'm not much of a sandwich person but it was pretty good with lots of chopped corned beef and good amount of sauerkraut. Tater tots were a solid choice, not oily.
Wow, well this first review is about 15 years over due, but I just came back for Oktoberfest and stayed for the great vibes in the basement! My bestie and i decided to take ourselves to the annual oktoberfest celebration at Crescent moon and boy did we have ourselves a time! First, the event is really well organized with dozens of beer and food options. Then there is a large covered tent featuring multiple bands and lots of seating. We had a blast sampling some german beers, which, low key are so underrated! Then the Husker game was starting and the quiet basement quickly filled with Husker fans .The large picnic style tables allowed us to watch a thrilling game. We ate a pretzel, got some boots, and enjoyed some great company and great fare. I will definitely be returning and updating my review much sooner! read more
Another visit to one of my favorite places. An Omaha institution. It is sad what the stupid street car is doing too Blackstone. So, I will continue to support the businesses in the area like the Crescent Moon. Bacon Ranch Chicken Sandwich. So delicious one of my favorites. So good, so big. I also tried the garlic fries, I've sleeping on those they are MARVELOUS. The service is on point, such a great staff. The restaurant is never too bright. We saw a video where it said that the Reuben was created here and knew we had to try it. It's your traditional bar grill atmosphere. They have a large menu so something for everybody. The had a kids menu as well which always gets bonus points from me . The server we had was very friendly and our food came out very fast. The Blackstone Reuben was exceptional. The location is great a nearby other pubs and dessert places as well! We will be back when in town read more

We love this place! It's a lil retro interior and they have fancy unique drinks (I didn't manage to take photo of it), and their food is good. I had the totchos for the brunch samples it's was good. They have some cheese and beef with some tomatoes on top of the tots, and the tots are still crunchy. There is only one waitress/bartender working that day and she was super helpful with the drinks and food. read more

Decided to come and try the famous Rueben sandwich here. Sat ourselves at a booth in the back of the bar. It's a bar. Thinking the bar seats might have been a better choice? No one has said a word to us for 7 minutes, yet. Then a waitress came to grab us some drinks. Ordered their famous Reuben with their seasoned fries and a turkey Reuben with upgraded onion rings. $32.85. Have to get used to being charged state and city taxes They no longer offer sweet potato fries. :( The original corned beef Rueben is quite flavorful and good. The fries aren't bad. The turkey Rueben has real oven roasted turkey meat in it, the sandwich isn't as good as the original Rueben by miles. They charged us for the small ramekin of not so tasty BBQ sauce. The onion ring dough is quite heavy and panko like, not for me. read more
I agree wholeheartedly with my husband's review. This was not how I anticipated reviewing based on all of the feedback I've heard about this place. Yes it was busy, and yes, they might've been shortstaffed, but it still stinks to sit and wait over 30 minutes for food and not have a very attentive server. I kept hearing the hype of how awesome their Reuben was, but it was not worth it for me. I personally didn't think the meat had much flavor, and what flavor I could taste was the toasted bread and sauce. I will definitely try again because some of their brunch items looked delicious, and the atmosphere of the bar looked pretty cool if you wanted to watch a local college sport on their TVs. read more

What a gem of a place. Was greeted by Chris with a huge smile and a friendly greeting. He suggested several so I tried 2 of them. Over 60 on tap you can't go wrong. The Beer was awesome however the Ruben Egg Rolls were "out of this world amazing". Traveling from out of town, however if I lived here this would be one of my weekly stops. Chris was awesome, friendly and very attentive. 5 stars all the way!! read more

I'd give it 7 stars if I could! I flew in from Ohio and picked a tremendous spot for my only night out!!! They are famous for their reubens. I'm one of few humans that doesn't like rye bread so I got the reuben egg rolls. Stellar service. Fun bar ambiance with a lot of tv's and keno. A crazy selection of beers,...plus you can order lil 5oz options for $2-$3 each. Would highly recommend this spot! Great part of town. Casual. Safe. And, two other bars are inside. A German bar in the basement and another one on the first floor. I don't know about parking as I took a Lyft but can't say enough good things about this for a chill spot! read more
Great pub grub, with the exceptional Rueben being the star of the show! You won't be disappointed if you choose to indulge in their specialty! The perfect balance of meat, sauce, and kraut; the best Rueben we have ever had. None of the flavors overpowered the others, as is typical with a Rueben. Multiple TVs made it easy to watch the game; the environment is more bar-like than we expected. The tables were in long rows, German beer hall-style. We were grateful we didn't bring our stroller in as it would have been a tight fit! Service was average. Drink prices are moderate and as expected, and the Long Island was great. Date of visit: November 25, 2023 We were staying across the street and wanted something simple and easy so we could settle back into our hotel room for the evening. The menu here at Crescent Moon Ale House was varied and featured sweet potato fries, so why not give it a try? Service was a bit spotty, it took quite a while for us to be waited on and then visits from the server were few and far between--good thing we're low maintenance! While the food was decent, the aforementioned sweet potato fries somehow managed to taste like...nothing. Weird, right? My burger on the other hand was pretty good and the cheese curds were top notch. With a large number of options in this area, you could likely do better than Crescent Moon, but likely worse as well. Perhaps the ale is where it's at and the food is an afterthought? read more
We came here Sunday night after a long day and my girlfriend really wanted soup. We're staying at a hotel close by and our choices were limited based on how late it was. My girlfriend grew up around Omaha and suggested we come here since she came here a lot during her college days. I saw the Blackstone Ruben on the menu being highlighted and since I'm visiting from out of town, I had to get it. As you can see from my photos there was very little meat. This was something pointed out by other reviews. I was wondering why my sandwich was tasting so tangy and it was all that kraut and no meat. Not going to lie, this was a disappointment and I would not order again. As for the BLT and the potato soup my girlfriend ordered, she liked them both and was happily satisfied. But my girlfriend says everything tastes good and we don't see eye to eye on a lot of things when it comes to food. The pickle chips were the best part of the meal. They were cut just right, not thin and just thick enough. The batter didn't overwhelm the pickle. They were salty as they should be. My girlfriend and I agreed this was the best thing we ate here. But there wasn't enough ranch for all the pickles. If you like deep fried pickles, they do them right here. We sat in a booth and the service was fine. If it was just me alone, this would be a 3 star review, but my girlfriend said her food was good, so I took that into consideration. read more
This is a place I frequent when I'm in town for work. It is a bar and grill that offers food and drink that is a regular hangout for the locals. When I normally go, I just get drinks. This was my first time getting food. I have to say the food was pretty good for "bar food". I am on a pescatarian diet so I couldn't eat everything they offered but I shared some cheese curds with my coworkers and for my entree I got a burger. They offer a lot of burger options. I chose the Swiss and mushroom and added guacamole. The burger was cooked well and not dry. For the side they offer chips and salsa. The salsa was good but some of the chips were a little stale. The drink was good and they offer happy hour specials. I got tequila so that is always good. I will be back and I look forward to trying other food options. read more
Think of a dive bar that has various beers on tap (along with other available drinks) and you have the ale house! We were staying across the street and stumbled in on a Tuesday night and was greeted the moment we walked in be door. We arrived on pint night where they had a special running in which you got to keep the glass, the beer changes for each event. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the beers being offered however I found a local beer I would drink again and again. The folks I was with enjoyed a glass of wine and a shot of something or another. When we arrived the kitchen was already closed but the other folks said the food was good. Overall it was great to be able to taste local beer without having to go too far, and the staff was friendly, welcoming and stayed on top asking if there was anything else we wanted before our glasses were empty. read more
