Returning to Barchen to check out the patio on a nice summer day, so thought I would post an update! The patio is super nice with many wooden tables that have large umbrellas, some yard games which kids were playing with, and a bar outside too that they sometimes use for larger events. They have a cute little wall of greenery out on the patio too that has the same "Leibe" that is on the interior as well, so it can be fun to take pics in front of that or sit beneath it. Our server on the patio was Presley, and the service was excellent. Always coming to check on us, do refills, and make sure everyone got their food correctly. I got a snack while we drank, and chose the homemade pretzels. They used to come in two big braids but now are actual pretzel shaped. They come with some super tasty beer cheese dip along with German mustard (but I always get two beer cheeses, as I'm not a big fan of mustard). We also had the hummus, which came with carrots, celery, and little crispy pita points. It was creamy and delicious, with none of the bitterness that hummus can sometimes have. The drinks were also wonderul. I had recently had dental surgery and could only have very low carbonation beers, but they kept the Guinness coming and I was a-okay. I recommend checking out the patio (or inside), because Barchen is still hitting it out of the park with their food, service, ambiance, drinks, and vibes!

Still one of the best places for food and beer in my opinion. We were in a hurry so we sat in the back patio. My doner kebab was loaded with meat, and the yogurt sauce completed the doner completely. I personally prefer the potato salad because it's made with mayonnaise and dill. I also like their cucumbers in yogurt and dill. Lots of beers to choose from still. Definitely worth stopping by for drinks sometime. Their appetizers are delicious too. You can't go wrong with good food and good beer.

We're lucky in Omaha to have some great German bars, and this is one of them! Definitely a great place to watch a soccer match. Big inside, lots of space to move around or chill depending on your preference. The beer garden in the back is great too, I wish we would've sat there for a bit but we ended up staying inside. We came on a Saturday evening during CWS week, so most of the TVs were turned to the games but when we asked to have it changed to a soccer match we'd been trying to watch, they tried really hard to get it for us. It ended up not being a channel they got there, but it was meaningful that they took the time to look for it, even come to our table to look for it with us. All the staff were super nice and checked on us to make sure we were doing alright, our waters were full, and we were enjoying the food. Speaking of, the food was pretty great. We ordered a couple beers (the German and European beer selection was pretty dang good!), pretzels, and a Reuben to split. There's a deal we wish we would've seen before we ordered, it's on the menu we just didn't look, but it's an appetizer, 2 burgers or sandwiches, and 2 beers/wine/frose for $65. A great deal! Especially considering we spent just about that for an app, one Reuben, and 2 beers. We'll get that deal next time we go for a soccer match! The pretzels came out and we thought they were bites for some reason, but they were whole, delightfully soft, salty pretzels with cheese and mustard. So good! The Reuben was good too, I wish there was a better sauerkraut to meat ratio (it was heavy on the meat) and my husband said he wishes the kraut was more sour, it was a bit sweet. Great sauce on it though! I love that they have a frose, I can't wait to go back and try it.

Fun beer garden! Bärchen is in a fun district with decent parking. There's plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. The beer garden has umbrellas, fans, and TVs. You grab a menu when you walk in and a server will come to you. The staff is friendly. The prices are fair and the drinks were tasty. The food is also my favorite German food in Omaha!! The brats are so flavorful and the pretzels are perfect. This is great place to visit in good weather

Fun place and great place to enjoy a beer outside and play games with friends. The beers were good and cold. We didn't have any food but the menu looked. We had a bunch of drinks margaritas, old fashioned, and the shotopus. All were a bit off and not balanced well. I would say stick to beer here it's definitely more of the focus. I liked the shotopus it was a fun way to get a bunch of different shots. Service was great really attentive and friendly. They were happy to offer a suggested alternative when they were out of something.

Sausage Sampler, prtzel & Currywurst mit Pomme Frits

The take-out service was good on a slow Saturday afternoon. The bartender was knowledgeable about all the biers. Not so much about the menu. I have been wanting to try their sausage sampler since they opened. It isn't a sample of German sausage as it has 3 non-German sausages, including a very American Jalepeno-cheese (ugh! Cheese does not belong in a sausage!). The bier braught is tasty. The rest were very dry, not moist at all and seemed to not actually be grilled (very little browning on the outside). The sauerkraut in the sausage sampler was very good (albeit not very much), but the mustard was standard Kraft yellow. There was a literary a JAR of dill pickle spears (7! OK, small jar) in the sampler. More sauerkraut would have been better (and probably cheaper!). I tried to sub out the Jalepeno-cheese sausage. The bartender said he would but it was still there when I got home. The Currywurst was good with a flavorful German ketchup. The soft pretzels are very good. The rest of the menu was way more bar food than German, with hamburgers and Nashville Hot chicken. Bottom line: Go for the bier, not the food. This place is as much a German restaurant as Taco Bell is a Mexican restaurant. I say this as someone who has been stationed in Germany (twice) with the US Army, visited 3 other times and LOVES German food. I miss Grtea's.... Edit: Spoke too soon on the mustard as there was a very good spicy German mustard under the pretzels!

This is one of our go to when we want German beer, and it never disappoints. Their appetizers (hummus is my favorite) are good, but sometimes there are changes to their menu so it's hard to say what's good and what not. This last time I went with the Ruben that was really good. Their potato salad was decent, but I think next time I'll try a different side.

Really cool beer garden with an awesome vibe! There were tons of drink options to choose from--something for every kind of beer lover, from hoppy IPAs to smooth lagers. The space is open and inviting, perfect for hanging out with friends or just kicking back on a nice day. The staff were super friendly and happy to make recommendations, which made the whole experience even better. Great place to relax, try something new, and enjoy a laid-back atmosphere.

Great spot in Benson for a beer and to catch a football match (Liverpool Bar). I have come up here for everything from World Cup matches (good luck finding a seat), to Friday nights for a pint. Always great service, and a ton of choices for German/Belgian and local beers. In addition to probably the best burgers in Omaha (no joke, they're that good), they also offer different shareable plates and sausages. Back patio is great in the summer time, and also has a small bar to order from. Only drawback is beers are $10-20 and food offerings are $12-20, with no happy hour. Great neighborhood spot for a pint!

Dog friendly in the beer garden in back.

Went here for a date night on their weekly trivia night. The host was fun and there were a number of teams there. The drinks were tasty. They have a large beer selection with a good list of cocktails. The pretzels are always delicious and perfectly made. They come with a side of mustard and cheese. We had a great night and will be back for more drinks and trivia!

Great bar spot in Benson. But did you know they also have some KILLER burgers? I ordered a brew and got their Mac Burger (has a similar sauce as on McDonald's Big Mac) even though the others on the menu looked good as well. The Mac Burger was SO good that I had to put the burger down, sit there and contemplate how good it was. Maybe it was the beer; but that Mac experience hit different. Sitting outside in the patio area on a beautiful sunny day was a cherry on top of the whole thing. Great experience overall - and I'm a believer in their burgers/food!!

Bärchen is a fantastic brewpub/beer garden in Benson with an incredible variety of German beers on tap as well as some equally delicious food offerings. The Happy Hour menu is also fantastic! The garden out back has a fantastic way to order from the table and everything comes out quite promptly. They also have very large umbrellas in the garden that provide a great amount of shade if it's too hot or sunny. The servers and bar tenders are very kind and I always enjoy coming here.

We had potato skins with cheddar and bacon as an appetizer. It was tasty but not wonderful. Bookguy had fish and chips. The fish was great, very crispy and light. It was a big portion so leftovers provided dinner later. The fries were a generous size and good too. I had a patty melt on rye with a salad. The salad was pretty standard and I really liked the patty melt-- big enough to take half home and not greasy. It was rather noisy while we were there and they probably could have used another server. We enjoyed our lunch and plan to come back again.

I went with the fish and chips and was blown away by this portion size and flavor! Two HUGE cod filets accompanied by a side of fries, but I went with the onion rings as I heard they were delicious. The cod has a thick, crunchy breading around it, making it very very filling. The onion rings were very unique. Not a long onion deep fried, but small onion pieces within the breading. I've never had something like that before, but they were golden brown and amazingly crunchy. Make sure you get extra tartar sauce for this dish because you're going to need it! Service was quick and easy for a take out order. I would come back for another meal to try their other menu options and drinks. Thanks for a great first impression!

I came for the Detroit-style pizza, easily the most underrated pizza style there is. If you know, you know. I ordered The Cadillac: cream cheese, cherry peppers, hot honey. On paper, it's chaos. In practice? A beautifully thought-out balance of sweet and spicy. Rich without being heavy, heat without going overboard. Someone in that kitchen gets it. And for a moment, it's flirting with greatness. Almost a perfectly executed Detroit pie... until the crust. That signature Detroit crisp--the caramelized, fried-edge crunch--is just a little undercooked. Not bad, but quickly soggy. Just missing that final snap that makes this style elite. Still, credit where it's due. This is a valiant effort, and not an easy style to pull off outside its home turf. I see you, Omaha. You're closer than you think!
