This is one if the coolest breweries I've been in. I LOVE the bar. Big and open. The entire place is huge. The beer is good, but sorry, not great. Unfortunately the staff flat out sucks. As unfriendly as you could possibly be. What the hell, I thought I was in Nebraska! I would come back for the setting...... but that's all. read more

Upstream is the perfect place to go for comfort food, burgers, and brunch. Brunch is my personal favorite, but everything I've had there is good! The service has always been great and it's pretty easy to get a table. Overall, recommend for sure. read more

Nice meal and delicious salad offering. Busy service but all in all quite adequate. It's not gourmet but not bar food either. Excellent stout and wheat beer. Cute tasty dessert trio of creme brûlée. A bit noisy. But overall okay - tolerable for most open conversation - and friendly wait staff. read more

Great food, the smoked gouda/ale soup is heaven. The side cesar salad was overdressed but the alfredo and cheese flatbreads were amazing. Higher stars would have been on tap, but our server Jamie was incredibly rude and unfriendly and did not enjoy her job. We requested tonics with lemons, and were given limes. A minor oversight I would look over normally, but she was rude both times we asked for lemons and seemed like she was pushing our little reunion out the door. We will be back but wont be in Jamie's section again, competition is fierce for my dining dollar. read more

I've been here to eat a few times. The pool tables upstairs are cool and fun to hang around on, and the bartender always knows what they're doing in terms of making drinks. The food is just so so. But the real reason for my not so Stellar review is the way that I've seen the management treat their employees. I've overheard management being very rude to the serving staff more than once. They always say that people don't leave jobs they leave management, and I think that would be true here. It would be different if it was an isolated incident, but I can honestly say I've never been there and seen management treat the staff well. While I know this doesn't mean anything in terms of the wait staff service or the food, it makes me very uncomfortable and it makes me not want to return to the restaurant and give them my business. read more

We had a family outing here this last weekend for dinner. Service was good but two of us ordered the fish and chips, it was absolutely awful!! The fish is about 70% thick batter and only 30% fish. The batter was way too salty and just was an unpleasant meal. Two of us ordered this and it was the same for both plates, avoid it!! Sounds like bbq chicken pizza was the best option at our table. read more

Ok I love homegrown Breweries! Place very nice. Chill. The sampler is what I'll always get. Now before I criticize or share my opinion, i want everyone to remember that this is my opinion. So he we go.... 1. Light beer. Not my bag. I also don't like light. 2. American Wheat. No not a fan. 3. Capitol Ale. No again 4. Firehouse Red. Very good nice classy finish for a red. 5. Flagship IPA. Rock on! Delicious. 6. Dundee Scotch Ale. Very delicious, malty flavor with a perfect finish. 7. Cask Conditioned Ale. Interesting.. full flavor bold, I liked it. Will order this again no doubt. Now onto the Seasonals. 8. Unincorportated. Crisp fruity. Ok not really for me but ok. 9. Flight Milk. I liked it. Medium body and a fruit finish. 10. Coco Poco. Awesome! Dark beer hints of coconut. Love it! 11. Ebenezer. No no no, cinnamon in my beer please, but if you like cinnamon try it! 12. Thug Passion. TART! WOW! Not for me but I can see it as a beach beer. I hope you liked my opinion. All and all, Rock On Upstream Brewery! read more

Upstream Brewing - The Sampler - Bars Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

Before coming to Omaha, I asked a friend to put together a list of breweries to try. He told me to skip Upstream because their beer was nothing special. Turns out their food isn't anything special either. The menu was pretty typical in terms of fare. Nothing jumped off the page but the prices seemed a bit high for what I was reading. I decided against a steak and went with a pizza which was greasy. Even the service was underwhelming. If you're in Omaha and see this place, keep walking. There are better options. read more

Waited over 40 min for appetizers. They went to another table. Food was mediocre at best. Barely warm. Didn't get appetizers comped when they arrived after the the entrees. Beer is poor. We are visiting. Drove all day. Wasted evening. read more

Came here for a work dinner, all of us were from out of town and chose it for the beer and positive reviews. There must not be many good places to eat in this city because the food was mediocre at best, comparable to Applebee's. They also only serve Hunts ketchup which is a deal breaker. read more

All the meat in Jumbalaya was undercooked and what seemed like no seasoning. Base just seemed like tomato soup with a little seasoning. Good sized portions tho. read more

Short on offering a solid meal. Steak was over cooked. Food was rather basic. Artichoke dip was excellent though. Ambiance and location are great. read more

Had the steak salad and a flight. I don't know if I was just hungry but the steak was really delicious. The beer bread is sweet and fresh. My partner had the Reuben and we shared a beer cheese soup. Who doesn't love Gouda? Recommend it. The beer is great. I wish the flights were themed, but I did enjoy getting to try only what I wanted. The smashed potatoes also had Gouda in them which was super delicious. read more

The service was amazing the men serving us were unbelievably kind and patient with us. The food came out really fast and the food was spectacular. With all of this amazing service we also had 30 people in our party. Definitely recommend and I would come back. read more

I would definitely eat here again when I am back in Omaha. We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and the veggie pizza. Both were delicious! The pizza had a lot of toppings with the right amount of cheese and sauce on a perfectly cooked, golden thin crust. The grilled chicken on the sandwich was so tender and juicy that I seriously considered asking exactly how they managed it. It was topped with cheese, arugula, granny smith apple, and this herby dressing on a yummy roll. The highlight of the meal, however, was the gouda beer cheese soup. I am in love with it, and terribly sad that it lives in Omaha where I must drive 3 hours to indulge in its deliciousness. The only critique I had was the wait staff. The restaurant was not very busy as we were dining very late, and they just didn't seem to be on the ball. I give them the benefit of the doubt because it was late on a Saturday night, and can imagine they were tired. I imagine they were slammed earlier as I noted they were completely sold out of one of their specials. This is a place I will go again as I still want to try their Bugeater Root Beer they have on tap and their brulee trio dessert. Along with a bowl of Beer Cheese Soup! read more

I'm giving the Upstream three stars, but it needs a little breakdown: Atmosphere: 5 Stars - The building was clean, modern and very well kept up. Our table was clean and the place wasn't too noisy. Wait Staff: 5 Stars - Very friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. Our waitress was able to recite the special from memory along with helping to suggest drinks. Beer: 4 Stars - Good beer... much better than most places (of course, it is a brewery so it's expected). Appetizer: 4 Stars - Very unique and tasted great (we tried the lettuce wraps... quick tip for you: You have to make them yourself, so it's kinda messy). Entrée : 2 Stars - Neither meal I tried was very unique or tasty (the fish and chips needed to be cooked longer, and the special of the day ended up being dry slices of beef with sauce on a 2 inch thick slice of bread). Price: 3 Stars - Not too pricey, but not cheap. Honestly this seems like a great place to go for drinks and maybe an appetizer or two, but not really for a meal. read more

Hey, we celebrated our 37th anniversary at Upstream, had a quiet evening and some very hospitable servers. We want to take our family there sometime, because we have grandchildren, and they would be welcome. Our experience at Upstream made up for the parking ticket we got that night!!! read more

Huge bar and great selection of beer. I enjoyed some of the beers more then others (obviously). Fried pickles were good as well. The reason its getting 4 is because its got a lot of options that are all good. You can kill a lot of time here with friends moving from the restaurant, to the bar, to the pool tables. read more

Upstream Brewing - Lamb shank. So good. - Bars Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

Came here for lunch on our anniversary. The beer is exceptional and so is the food. The special today was a soft shell crab sandwich. Who would have guessed that in Omaha, but it was great. Also had the artichoke dip which is a long time favorite for us. The main reason we come is to see Jill the bartender. We are from Kansas City so we only make it up here a couple of times a year, but she always remembers us, greets us and makes the best recommendations for food and beer! read more

While walking the Market in Omaha we came upon Upstream. What a pleasant surprise. We were there for happy hour and the specials were fairly good. We both got $7 pizzas, shared pretzel bites and had some really good house brewed beer. Ironic that it was an old fire house. That made it even more interesting for us. The food was good and filling. The prices for happy hour were really good. Enjoyed dinner and would definitely go back. read more

Great service. Great beer. I got the Flight of 4 and don't know anything about beer. My waiter recommended drafts I might like because I love corona. Make sure you ask for Brandon A. as your server; he was amazing and deserves a raise. Love ya B. read more

Had salad, and Hamberger. The were both good. Was with 11 people and the service was excellent. Atmosphere good. A little noisy.

Came here during lunch, their beer selection is good for a brewpub, there are definitely some interesting brews here. The food was good but not rememberable besides the fish and chips which were really good. Maybe I've been spoiled by brewpubs in other cities but this place came off as more of a restaurant than a place that is brewing beer. read more

Upstream is the perfect place if you need a good beer and some delicious bites! We were seated very quickly. Our waiter had great beer recommendations and let me taste a few before I decided. He was very knowledgeable and predicted what I would and would not like. The artichoke dip was a huge hit. The pork tenderloin sandwich was to die for. I will definitely be returning! read more

Food is good. Bar is tad slow. The people at the bar were great. Will come back when in the area :)

We've been here 3 times now and I'm surprised the rating isn't higher. Service has been great every visit. And if you haven't gotten those yummy pretzel bites with cheese sauce, well...you don't know how to order right. The vegetarian pizza is filling without being super heavy, and my favorite dish is the blackened chicken and fusilli pasta which has fresh cut corn in it that gives it the best texture. They have a great happy hour menu and a HUGE bar, which is the most important thing...right?? read more

Had a couple of their beers at the bar and dinner while on business. Very cool spot - bartender super friendly & offering samples of any beer before deciding and food was excellent. Definitely would come back read more

Always great service! Food is delicious with a wide variety of daily specials. Restaurant is well kept. Salads are always a hit!

Sadly, my opinion has changed...this was once a favorite of mine for years, but no more. The staff attitude is really tanked, no longer are they focused on the customer...it is more on how they can make it easier for themselves, to just run their business rather than provide their customers the best experience. Those are NOT the same things. I just called from Phoenix airport boarding a plane on my way home from a business trip thinking ahead, I wanted to pick up a special dinner from Upstream for my hubby and me, I haven't seen him all week. The maitre'd told me to call back in when I arrived instead so they didn't lose the order. She said it would be easier for her more convenient for them. Hello? What about me? I'm the customer....I just live 10 minutes from the airport and would really like to hurry home...thanks Upstream. I think maybe you're not that special any more. read more

Bad. Honestly just not good. Went there last night with an old friend of mine. After being inexplicably sat at a table next to 3 empty booths we waited about 7 minutes for our server. After arriving, sans water, we order what would turn out to be an awful beer and a rather lackluster meal. 1st course; the chili. Any person with even a modicum of culinary experience will caution you against scorching when reheating thick stews, such as chili. No one at the Upstream heeded this warning as my chili tasted, and looked, seriously burned. Despite this I attempted to eat my chili, but to no avail as my server snatched it away long before I was finished. Then came the Beer Braised Pot Roast... Typically when one roasts a piece of meat, it's a solid piece of meat and then cut to order. Clearly not the case here. The roast came smothered in what I can only surmise to be powdered gravy, and wildly inconsistent. The small pieces ranged from medium rare to well done with complete randomness. The only thing that could make this worse, excessive amounts of fat and gristle, were running themes with this dish. I can't even begin to speculate on the quality of the vegetables and mashed potatoes as I was already full on the aforementioned scorched chili. All in all, Awful. This restaurant is awful. And not this time. Every time. I have been here several times and this establishment seems committed to uneven, inconsistent food coupled with dispassionate, detached service. Don't eat here. Go anywhere else. read more

Very nice atmosphere and good service. Cheese soup was good but barely warm. Pork tenderloin sandwich with mustard slaw was good.

This place is horrible. Seems like people from Omaha don't know a thing about quality food. First, our table was extremely sticky and the waiter told us that's just the way it is. Then, my glass of water had chunks of what looked like strawberries and lip marks on it. Clearly, it was not washed after the last person. On to the food. We ordered the filet, which was the most horrific piece of meat we have ever had. We wanted it cooked medium and it came out completely raw the first time. Second time, it was medium, but full of cartilage and just inedible. We didn't end up eating any of our food and just left. We travel at least once a month to many different destinations and both agree that Omaha by far has the worst food in the US. There is a reason that there are so many chain restaurants in this city. If you're unfortunate enough to have to be here, be sure to utilize those. read more

Fish and chips were awesome. Beer and as solid. But really wanted to give a shout out to Brett aka 'Bubba'. We felt like he invited us to his home, which happened to be a brewery and served us his finest. Thanks for the experience! read more

Classic "brewery" vibe and environment. There's not a ton of menu items, but it makes it easier to choose! I went today with a large group of coworkers and we did not make a reservation, but they got us seated quickly. I liked how some of the menu items recommended a beer that pairs well with the meal. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to try and pick something you've never tried and the recommendation helped with that. I had the salmon cakes with angel hair pasta and the firehouse red beer. Some of my coworkers got burgers and some tried the pot roast and we all enjoyed our food! The restaurant is clean and well-managed, I would definitely go back and would recommend to others. read more
