Really nice place with good ambiance and service. The spinach artichoke was tasty, I wish it was accompanied with chips instead of the yummy garlic bread, just bc the thick bread fills you up fast. The Gouda soup was delicious! Really creamy and amazing flavor! I wanted more!! The Tuscan shrimp gnocchi, was delicious as well! The creamy sauce was to die for. We substituted the shrimp with chicken? But some of the pieces were a little tough. My friends had the Mac and Cheese. It was well served, creamy, cheesy, and flavorful! Overall a great place with great service and good prices. Food was awesome!! We'll go back! read more

My fiancé and I ate at Upstream over the weekend. We both ordered beers, which were average at best. For food we ordered an appetizer of cheese curds and both had the fish + chips meal. The cheese curds were cold with little flavor. The fish and chips were good, but nothing special. Our waitress only checked on us once (only after we flagged her down) & seemed very distracted. After speaking with some Omaha locals, they said they've also had very subpar experiences at Upstream. Would not recommend. read more

Wow, the menu is absolutely outstanding! Stated with the beer soup! It was great! Finished with the special burger! Definitely one of the best burgers I have ever eaten( and that's a lot of burgers) If you don't try this place you're missing out! read more

I am writing this to offer areas of opportunity for Upstream Brewing to make their customer service a bit better. I'm in town for a conference and came here with a group of colleagues on Wednesday for lunch. We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed the food. We were curious about the cards on the ceiling and was informed by our helpful wait staff about the magician who performs on Tuesday and Thursday evening. I was able to get a group together to go back on Thursday evening to catch the magician. When we arrived, I explicitly mentioned to the two hostesses that we had lunch the day before and returned to catch the magician. Was he around. They confirmed yes so we decided to wait for a table. 20 minutes of waiting (and seeing the magician talk to the hostesses), my group got antsy and was ready to leave. I went back up to the front and ask estimated time as we would leave if it's going to take any longer. FYI, we've noticed empty booths and tables the entire time we waited. She said the tables were being readied and we'll be seated soon. Waited another 5 minutes and they said they need to put water on the table. We finally got seated in the empty space that I had saw when we first arrived, got our order in and asked if the magician was around as it was now approaching 9pm. We were told the magician left awhile ago as it was a slow night. This was extremely disappointing as I had explicitly shared that was the reason why we were here to the hostesses and they chatted with the magician and didn't inform him to wait. He left before the advertised hours that he would be around. I had no issues with the wait staff and thought their level of service was wonderful. Had we been a different type of group, we could have made their job a lot harder after getting the lack of care from the hostesses. Just providing feedback that hostesses didn't seem like they care much about the customer experience that the wait staff had shown. read more

Great experience here! I used open table to secure a reservation. We arrived and were promptly seated, they are limiting seating to provide adequate social distancing which was very much appreciated. Our server was pleasant and helpful with providing menu suggestions. The cheese curds with the blackberry habanero sauce was banging! The combo just so complimentary! I ordered the Gouda and beer soup, eve though it was hot day, I wanted to try it and it was delicious! I ordered the mini fish tacos as my entree, they were more than mini, also very tasty. My husband ordered the filet, melted I his mouth! Would def recommend! read more

I come to upstream for dinner in the Old Market because it seems to be a staple. The drinks are good, and the food is okay, but I always leave thinking it was just okay. I recently got the pulled pork sandwich and had to take everything off the bun. It was soggy and you could tell it had been sitting. I try something different every time, but just can't fine the right meal. Overall, good place for drinks! read more

If you're from Omaha you know that the Upstream has been around; since I was a kid, and it holds a special place in my heart. It's a large restaurant that can accommodate big groups making it great for a family get together. With the holidays here, cue the tried and true family dinner tradition at the upstream. A group of ten with kids was well served today. The server was attentive and timely. The Thai salad was wonderful, I opted out of the jalapeños and it still had a kick to it. The fries that came with kids meals we're also super crispy (my favorite) It is still as pricey as I remember my parenting a groaning about but if it's a one in a while thing totally do able. read more

Came here for dinner on a Sunday about 6:30. No problem getting seated because there is lots of seating upstairs and downstairs. Hint: There are 2 bar seating areas as well, one downstairs and another upstairs. This place advertises their own locally made brews. There are a variety to choose from ranging from IPA to more seasonal varieties. You can sample prior to ordering a 16 oz or 24 oz. There are flight options as well. Ordered the NY steak and it was typical NY. Came on a bed of fries and arugula. Truffle topping was a nice touch. Wish they would keep the fries separate as the juices of the steak made the fries soggy. My daughter had the Thai chicken salad and the greens were saturated from the toppings. Theme? Overall food was ok. Service adequate. Average experience, but certainly not bad. Fair is fair come check this place out and see what you think. read more

Upstream's brunch has seriously suffered from the post-COVID fallout. It used to be an interesting assortment of fresh foods but has declined significantly. The buffet quality was on par with a Holiday Inn continental breakfast. Liquid artificial eggs, gooey hash browns, tasteless fish. Fortunately, there was at least bacon. Remaining assorted fruit and pastries were straight from Sam's Club and were never replenished in the 90 minutes of us being there. There was an omelet bar and carving station but the dude kept disappearing. When we were able to pin him down, we found that the roast beef was not rare but raw and inedible and the omelet was too oily to consume. On the plus side, the beer was very good but not worth the hassle of going in the future. read more

I have never had a bad experience at Upstream until now. Service was fine even though the girl put in our wrong app order but the food (besides the app) was not. My burger was supposed to be blackened with guacamole and cheese-which you would assume it would be flavorful. It was not. It almost completely lacked flavor. I ended up not even eating the bun because so much grease had dripped off the bottom bun practically disintegrated. The top bun was just weird, maybe stale? Idk I didn't eat it. My friend had the falafel wrap and she was also quite disappointed. Also has the menu shrunk significantly? I had a hard time finding something I really wanted. On the positive you can never go wrong with a Flagship IPA. The fried cheese curds were also delicious! Interesting pairing with a spicy fruity sauce. read more

This place is great. I think that it's obviously better to eat there than to take your food to go. Food is good and service is prompt.

My family is a first time visitor to Omaha. This restaurant was recommended by the hotel staff. The food was good. The service and the followup from the manager were extremely poor. We watched our server attend to other tables around us. Finally, I had to go back to the hostess and request someone to take our order. After another server did that, there was still a long wait for the food and no unprompted appearance from the manager. After we were nearly finished eating, she came back to the table and I requested that she and the manager return. I explained that I understand that a variety of reasons could have impacted her lack of attendance to our table. However, we were the only customers of color and that her choice to not attend us made my 91 year old mother upset. It made her feel as if she were being mistreated reminiscent of Jim Crow days and she was very upset. The manager refused to listen to me and brushed my concerns off. He never apologized to my mother or acknowledged her feelings at all. I requested the general manager's contCt info and will be following up with him tomorrow. read more

This place can definitely accommodate large groups. I was here for an early dinner. Our table accommodated ~12 people. They also have space upstairs for events. I had ordered their Full Caesar Salad. The portion size was huge and was well worth the $$. It tasted good - with the right amount of dressing. Their ambiance is great and their staff are super friendly. I'd highly recommend this place for your big groups. Make sure you make a reservation ahead of time for busy times of the year. read more

I really, really was hoping for more. We decided to try out this place based on the Yelp reviews. The best part of the visit as our waiter Brian and the lemon bread we purchased. When we arrived we were seated on the second floor which was completely empty. Maybe not a bad idea since Brian was very attentive. I was dying for a Omaha steak and so I decided to order their ribeye steak. I was very disappointed. It was very blend and the presentation was no lot appealing. My husband ordered their tai salad. It wasn't bad either but it was salty from the Asian dressing. The cheese curds we ordered was not worth the price. As for the beer, I can't say I enjoyed any of them. Poor Brian - he did his best to make sure I found I liked but that was difficult. read more

Stopped at Upstream this past weekend. The place was very busy and we sat at the bar. The bar at Upstream is one of the best. Service is always outstanding and Friday was no different. They have a great selection of in house beers. The fall seasonal is one of my favorites. Smooth with a super caramel hint. We ordered dinner while at the bar. I had the Blackened Chicken & Fusilli Pasta. It was very good. I usually order the Jackson Street Jambalaya, but wanted a change. Both entrees are outstanding. This is a place that I highly recommend. read more

This is a very nice bar and restaurant. Lots of table room both inside and out. Friendly service. Nice selection of choices that rotate seasonally. I had shrimp and grits with key lime dessert. Upstream is a great place to get together with friends and family. They have a great bar/food menu and of course multiple drafts on their menu. It can get packed during busy times but with their upstairs and outside patio it is fairly large. There are pool tables upstairs as well. Food wise, I highly recommend the Grain Bowl. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Will definitely be back. read more

It lists itself as a brewery, so I am going to rate it as a brewery. Upstream is less of a brewery and more of a bar restaurant that brews its own beers. I would say the emphasis here is on the food and not the beer. That said, the beer was of very good flavor and quality and the service was good. The selection is limited, only one or two choices of a couple of styles, but they are tasty, The décor is definitely restaurant bar, and really didn't have a cozy brewery feel. The reason it gets three stars and not four is that is really feels more like a restaurant than a brewery. read more

Went here for my cousins birthday Sunday. Started off with the cheese curds and it came with a raspberry sauce that complimented it very well. For my main dish i had the jambalaya which had a nice kick but wasn't too spicy, just right for my liking. Overall the service was good and quick for the size group we had about 15 people. Food was about 3.5 and service was 4 stars I won't rush back but would come back. read more

Pre-review disclaimer: Parking is a nightmare close to this place. If you're dead-set on coming here, give yourself time to find a parking spot and be prepared to drop a few bucks, because the parking on the street is metered. Came in on a Saturday evening with a fairly large group and a reservation at 6. We were seated fairly promptly. For appetizers, we tried the fried pickles (which were average-ish), the cheese curds (which were like deep fried mozzarella bites, but came with a spicy jelly dipping sauce that was good), and hummus (which by all accounts was decent). The real winners here are the entrees. One compatriot got the schnitzel/pork chops and it was amazing tasting + a very large portion. I played it safe with a standard bacon cheeseburger and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had and cooked perfectly medium rare (though the bun was too tall/unnecessarily bread-y) with mashed potatoes that I feel like had cheese melted into them (heavenly). Another in our party got the pot roast and he said it was by far in a way the best he's ever had. The losers were the desserts. Seriously, these were some of the saddest excuses for desserts I've ever experienced. The waiter said the bread pudding was legendary. Note...it wasn't. It wasn't even what I'd define as "bread pudding". It was more like a cinnamon roll tbh, which is fine. I opted for the pumpkin flan....and it was a sad, cold, small, round bit of pumpkin pie filling with rock hard pecans and a layer of glass or transparent caramel candy between the filling and a bit of a cream topping. Another opted for the cheesecake and said it was terrible. The only dessert that passed muster was the seasonal apple crisp. But this is a brewery, what about the beer? I tried one of the barrel aged stouts and was very unimpressed. It just kinda fell flat and none of the tasting notes came through. The alcoholic root beer was also a letdown. The only beer that was good was the seasonal winter beer which had an excellent bit of peppermint on a deeply malted body (9/10 would definitely recommend). Conclusion: Mixed bag here. If I ever come back, I'll definitely be skipping the appetizers and desserts. I'd probably order a seasonal beer and an entree. If you want dessert, there are likely better options nearby. read more

We loved our visit today! Ended up going for a late lunch and drinks. Got the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer which was very good. They use toasted bread instead of chips...who doesn't love bread?! Then we both got burgers that were also delicious. Tried a few different beers and all were great! Service was friendly and prompt. Will definitely return to try more things! read more

A Solid Brewpub in the Heart of Omaha, Serving OK Bar Foods and Craft Beers. By no means is three stars a bad review. This place was good, but not great, so if living in or when visiting Omaha, I would come here. And if we're ever back, I would come back to Upstream. We had just finished an all-day visit at the zoo, so the whole family was worn out, thirsty, and hungry. They have flights of beer and I suggest going that route, that way you can sample more of what they've concocted. We ordered three appetizers: Fried Pickle Chips ($6), which were cornflake-crusted and served with their honey-mustard dipping sauce; Bavarian Pretzel Bites ($6.50), that came with a smoked Gouda, red lager mustard dip; and the Pretzel Encrusted Fried Cheese Curds ($8), that came with a blackberry habanero sauce. The pickle chips were great and cooked well--crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. The bites were bland and OK, they needed more salt. And the curds were good--the sauces for all three stole the show and were the saving grace for each of them. I ordered their Blackened Burger with Guacamole ($12), that came with pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles, and served with fries. It was a solid burger, nothing great though, and slightly overcooked (asked for it to be medium). My date ordered their Thin Crust Vegetable Pizza ($11.50), an arugula pesto, mozzarella and ricotta cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and fried onion pizza. She substituted the pesto for red sauce, but that didn't save it for her--she wasn't a fan of the pizza, saying it was pretty bland. The kids each ordered Cheeseburgers ($7) and included a choice of drink and side (one got smashed potatoes, the other steamed carrots). The kids also get a choice of dessert: a root beer float or vanilla ice cream. This is a great deal--the burgers were big, sides were generous, and the dessert at the end was perfect. A big hit for the kids. Overall, we had a good experience. Knowing now what to expect will make coming back easier and we will. read more

Stayed in Omaha overnight and was looking for a steak place. Being in Omaha gotta try omaha steaks instead of thru QVC. The hotel was in downtown and walking distance to the old market district. Found the upstream brewery, they had a 12oz ribeye special. Paired with a couple of pints the steak went down good. The sauce over the meat was delicious and the potatoes mixed with corn were also pretty good. The dish was great I had no problem with all the corn. Great place great dinner spot. Try it. read more
