Because we had a group of 6 and wanted a prime dinner time we made a reservation a couple of days ahead of time. When we arrived (on time) we still had to wait about 10 minutes for them to put our table together. Our server was great and suggested several beers, cocktails, and food. Everything that he suggested was pretty good. The jambalaya was pretty good, the lamb shank was OK, and I heard the ribeye was really good. Kid's meals were good sized. read more

Great service, beer, and food! I had the salmon dinner. Yum! I also got a flight of beers. Great way to them!

Our service was very good, but the food was mediocre at best. The best thing about our meal was the caramel bread pudding, which was very good. The pretzels were a bit dense for our liking, but maybe that's the way they are made here. Skip the meal and go straight for dessert! read more

Stopped by after our flight because we were very hungry after traveling all day. Immediately we were sat and had Patrick as our server. He was awesome!!! Very attentive, great service and very helpful! We told him we were in town for a wedding and we're going to explore Omaha this weekend. A few minutes later, he stopped by with a list of recommendations! The food and beers were great, but Patrick is the reason we are coming back before we go back home! read more

I went to Upstream for lunch. Morgan was our server. She was so sweet and accommodating. The she suggested was amazing. I will definitely be back and request Morgan. read more

Got the grain bowl for take out. It was pretty good but I wish they had a vegetarian protein option such as tofu. The guacamole was pretty good and there was a lot of food. I always like drinks from this place but this was the first time since being a kid that I had gotten food. Pretty good for a vegetarian option since that tends to lack in Omaha's pub food restaraunts read more

Upstream Brewing is very popular among all age groups! They provide very friendly service and are following COVID-19 precautions. I went with a group of friends for her birthday and had one extra guest of accident (the limit is 8 people per table per covid restrictions). The manager was very nice about letting us know and let half of us move to another table rather than having to wait for an open table which we appreciated! I got the prime pub burger I think it was called and it was great. Cooked perfectly in my opinion. My friend got the filet mignon and it was, to my surprise, very good. I usually only order steaks at steak houses but trust me you will not be disappointed with Upstream's steak! read more

I love the Upstream's Blonde Gouda soup and Bread. Their salads are pretty solid too, and Wednesday's at 9pm they do half price pizza and pint night. NOTE: do not deviate from these items. Ultimately the Upstream isn't a place I'd recommend anyone go for dinner. The beer, location, pool tables, rooftop patio, ample outdoor seating, general ambience... those are all good reasons to come here. The food just isn't (note it's on my 'bar' list but not my 'restaurant' list). Their specialty brews are what really keeps me coming back though (especially the winter's special Ebenezer). But during the 'off months', or when they run out of the special brew, the Wheat or Honey Raspberry (or the two mixed) always is good too. read more

First off before I get to the food...Our waitress Cory was phenomenal! I was with a total party of 9, and she was very observant making sure that our water glasses/drinks never went empty. Aside from that she was very genuine and personable. It was obvious that she does well handling larger groups of people. Much appreciated! Her service was an absolute 5 stars!! Now in regards to my food, it was very good! I ordered the Lamb Shank. It was sitting on a bed of some sort of rice that started with an R. My experience with lamb is limited but it tasted good to me. I give the food four stars because while it was good, the lamb had a completely different texture than the other times I've had lamb. It was almost flaky (and this is the first time I've experienced that) so I am unsure of if it was over cooked or not. Again, take into consideration that I am no expert when it comes to lamb. The portion size was good. I wasn't able to finish but half of my plate. The plate also comes with a butternut squash concoction on the side. That was my first time having it and the way they made it was tasty. I would return here if I was ever in Omaha again. read more

Went to Upstream with a group of 12 for a friend's birthday. Service was excellent as was the beer/food. Only criticism is the magician who came to our table when we sat down, didn't perform any "tricks", said he'd come back to our table when we got our food, and then "disappeared" 1/2 an hour before he was supposed to. Time to look for a new entertainment gimmick. read more

Starting off that our server was so polite and attentive. Upstream has a beautiful wood and iron decor style that gives it just a bit of extra class. We went during happy hour so we got half off of our Buffalo wings which were a bit spicy, but average for wings. I got the beer braised beef with mashed potatoes and veggies. It was good, but for $19 seemed a bit on the expensive side as the plate was over half vegetables. Good cocktails and beers that were cheaper because of happy hour. Yummy, but I will only be going here every couple of months from here on out. read more

Started off with beer and pretzel crusted cheese curds. The sauce served with it was unique and added a different twist. It was good but small in size for the price. I had the bbq pizza which was delicious. My husband had fish and chips. He really liked it but there was too much breading on the fish for him. Looked just right to me. Lol. Atmosphere was lively and was fun watching the games on tv. read more

Came here on the advice of a local. To be honest, it reminds me of the brew pubs you can find in many other colonial towns. The restaurant building was obviously some kind of warehouse 80 years ago, for that vintage look. Generally you'd expect a certain kind of "vintage trendiness", but in this case, there are several differences. - they give free samples. Nebraska is so loose with their liquor, it's freaking AWESOME. -they have free pool at certain times of the day. I had a chance to try several dishes tonight. Bugeater root beer (in house) - sweet, but as syrupy as A&W. Had a nice finish. Raspberry lager - to be honest I was a bit disappointed with this one. I could barely taste the raspberry, though my friend said it was really obvious. Flagship IPA - quite strong, at 6.2%. It was quite bitter (as expected), but had a nice finish. Hot wings - covered in green onions. Came with 2 sauces (Ranch and some Cheese sauce). It was spicy, and pretty well done. BBQ Chicken Pizza - nice thin crust. Can taste all the flavours. Quite good, but I was hungry after eating this one. New York (Omaha) Steak - oh wow this was good. You can order it "Pittsburgh-style" which means which they sear it (flatiron) extra hot, effectively locking in the flavour from the edges. This dish came with some creamy hash browns (came in 2 balls) that tasted like.. bacon. Awesome! As for the vegetables, it was steamed melons, broccoli, and some other plants. It was rather plain. Overall, not a bad place, but you do have plenty of other options in the Old Market section of town. read more

Pool tables. The best in town. You might even find a good stick if you're there on an average day! I'm a fan of their beer but I'd say it's on a higher medium range of the broad range beers available at new breweries in Omaha! read more

Came here with friends for dinner last month. This was one of our go to places back in our college days...and our first time back in 16 years! Nothing changed...seriously...they still have the exact same menu! The Hot artichoke and Asiago cheese dip with toasted house-baked garlic beer bread was sooo good!! Just like I remember it!! However, the rest of the food that we ordered made me wonder why we ate here so often during our college days. The calamari was probably the worst dish...the pieces were overcooked, shriveled, and chewy. I had the fish and chips for dinner and it was pretty good. It's a great place to meet up with friends in the Old Market. They can accommodate large groups and have a pretty big menu selection. It was nice dining here again as part of our walk down memory lane but it probably won't make my list of places to go the next time. read more

It's a pleasant place with nice atmosphere. I'm sure the beer is amazing but I can't drink beer so I don't know. The staff who seated us were pleasant. I ordered a chicken artichoke soup as a starter. Edible, but very salty and it tasted canned. Then I had the pot roast for an entree. The gravy was, again, oversalted, the mashed potatoes were gummy and sticky, and the roast itself had been smoked at some point, or possibly roasted in a smoker. Some people probably would like the smoked flavor; I did not. The vegetables were okay. Our waiter did not check on us once after the food was delivered. We had to wave him down and could only get him when my friend had finished her meal while I sat there with the not-good food growing cold. He took my entree off the bill, but did not offer to bring me anything else (I would have paid for something else). Then on the bill, the "suggested" tip was for what the original amount would have been had I paid for the entree. I'm kind of done with restaurants in the Old Market. They are gimmicky and you pay for the location. I won't be going back. read more

This was my second time in Omaha and we decided to do a family dinner at Upstream. We arrived early to grab a drink before eating with the family, thankfully we were able to go straight to the bar (note there is an upstairs bar if downstairs is too busy). The beer selection was fantastic, I got myself a White Stout that I thoroughly enjoyed. After we took our beer upstairs to their little lounge area, as soon as we got there, a server approached and asked if we needed anything. (Super friendly). They had a few games on TV which was great for waiting and a quick beer. Once our family came in, we were sat quickly (no reservation and had 6 in our party). We ordered fried pickles and spinach and artichoke dip. The Fried pickles were good, but the artichoke dip comes with bread not chips. This is a welcome change but the bread could have portioned a bit better. With the large group, we ran out of bread quickly. For our mains, we had a couple of burgers and steak! The steak was cooked to perfection (my first Omaha Steak). After dinner we went upstairs for another drink and a few games of pool. This place had it all and is a great place to hang out while in Omaha. read more

The food we had wasn't good and the service even worse. The Jambalaya was surprisingly oily. The pot roast had a lot of fatty pieces. the mashed potatoes were pretty salty. The Greek salad was good and well dressed. The desserts were barely edible: we had a lemon tart and bread pudding (which was stale/hard). We ate there at around 5:30pm on 4/19/24 with a group of 12 people (3 different families). On a good point: The kids in our group loved their Mac and cheese. So at around 8:32 we ordered kid's Mac and cheese again and kid's chicken fingers for pick up for the kiddos... unfortunately, we waited nearly 40 mins and was given the run around with staff and even the manager saying "it's coming in 2 minutes". That "2 minutes" was 40 minutes later and still no kids food so we just canceled our order after waiting that long. Our group spent close to $400 there that night and that's 3 families that won't be coming back. It's totally not worth it and the executive chef Pete Butler and General Manager Dallas Archer need to oversee their restaurant better. It was pretty disappointing. read more

We were in a snacking mood, especially for pretzels. DoorDash had delivery from Upstream so we decided to try their pub pretzels and a root beer float. Yes, it's an odd combination, but it sounded good to us. We were very disappointed in the pretzels. There was approximately a dozen donut hole-sized balls that reminded me of buckeyes from the buckeye tree. They didn't have much flavor, possibly due to no salt and the texture made me think they had been microwaved but were cooled down when we got them. There were two "dipping sauces". The smoked Gouda sauce was watery and weak; I had to look at the menu again to figure out what it was. The mustard wasn't a sauce at all, just a tablespoon of grainy Dijon mustard that needed to be spread, not dipped. Really it was a ho hum experience. The root beer float was basically melty vanilla ice cream stirred into root beer. But it tasted like it was supposed to. In hindsight, it could be that what we ordered suffered from being delivered, not consumed on site. That being said, there are enough places with pretzels that we will be trying others. read more

The beer soup, great. Creamy, flavorful, definitely worth trying. The environment, industrial and warm, with tv's pretty plentiful in the bar (not like BWW's but enough), I really liked it. The burger, mediocre would be too kind. It was dry and didn't have much flavor, really disappointing for being steak country... The service was fine. Not bad, not great. read more

Omaha sucks! However upstream tavern makes it less sucky. The spot is in old town omaha. The micro brew was tasty. After a long day of summer heat and boring corporate jibber jabber, the coors light on steroids hit the spot. The food is typical bar stuff. Over saturated salt and seasoning but its not bad at all. The chicken wings were bomb. In general, I expected way too much for nebraska dining. Advice you to expect much lower cause dining in nebraska sucks... Sucks a lot!!! The guacamole burger i got was good too. I asked for no seasoning or salt (as i always do) but some lingered. The beef patty was huge. Guac was processed from a tub. The veggies... Oh man the veggies were spot on. They were sooooo goood. I had to eat the veggies separately. The dried pickles were sweet. The tomato was uber ripe and juicy. The lettuce was crispy and cold. Oh yeah the veggies. The mashed was salted butter mixed with potato. It was ok. Service and staff was amazing. Nebraskans are pieces of crap except outside of omaha. Omahomies told me its an outsider thingy based on places i traversed. The hospitality in Omaha is second to southern comfort. This spot was $$$ compared to most of other places in nebraska and south dakota and iowa. However i had a pleasant time. If God punishes me again for my sinfulness and sends me to omaha for five days, i am probably going to spend two of the nights here to vege, watch sports and small talk with the locals. Thank you Upstream for making nebraska experience what i wished it to be. Safe travels. DILLY DILLYYYYYYY!!!! read more

Lunch in Omaha took us to Upstream. The interior is well done retaining the feel of the historical brick building. As we ate we could view the massive brewery equipment. I ordered a lemon chicken pita which came with tabouli, red pepper hummus, & curry fries. The food was excellent! This is my second visit here. The first visit the service was amazing, I think primarily because the barkeep was super friendly and chatted a bit even though they were pretty busy. Tonight, the service is good and I've not been without a beer more than 20 seconds, if that. However, they're not overly friendly. I tried the stroganoff this time instead of the burger and it was good. Great beef tips in it, I loved the noodles and the sauce, just too much mushroom for me. Also they were pretty big pieces too. I know some people love the fungi, but not me. Still very good and the Flagship IPA is what brought me back. read more

I used to love upstream as a kid. However I went last night before the lion King at the Orpheum end, it was very disappointing. Our server forgot our pretzels, and forgot to tell my mom they were out of sweet potato fries. Solid brews here, I tried a flight of four and liked everything I had. Ended up going for a pint of the scotch ale. I also particularly liked the seasonal coffee stout. I grew up in Omaha, so I grew up loving this place and always make a point to visit every time I'm in town. It is a nice place without being stuff or too fancy, and the food is always pretty great. We always get the Gouda beer soup, which is the main thing that brings us in every time. It's so rich and cheesy, and they serve it with this hearty brown bread that is the perfect accompaniment. We also always get the house salad, which is simple and perfect, just greens and craisins and red onions and the house basil vinagarette. We also like the fish and chips, artichoke dip, and beef stroganoff. The beer is also good, the house standards are reliable and easy drinking, and the seasonal offerings are interesting and tasty. I will keep coming back as often as I can! read more

Really enjoyed my experience at Upstream! I was passing through Omaha during a move to Colorado and decided to try this place with my mom. We both started off with beers that were brewed on site (brownie points) and of course had to get the fried pickle appetizers which were crispy and delicious. I got the NY strip steak and my mom got the ribeye steak. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and the side vegetables and potatoes only added to the meal. Our waitress was so friendly and the place is so huge with so many tables which decreases the wait time for sure. There is some outside seating which is a great spot to enjoy the old quarter of Omaha. Overall-awesome spot to have a true Omaha steak while in the state of Nebraska!! read more

Decent food and decent beer collection. Better selections elsewhere, but hard to find such a variety of both.

Awesome awesome awesome ! After trying to have dinner at 2 other restaurants (one with a 2 hour wait and the other we were seated for 20 min never acknowledged by the waitstaff) yelp led us here and thank god! We were seated right away at a cute little table for two and a waitress came right over to greet us! Service was really great. We ordered pretzel bites as an appetizer which were pretty good but I'd try something else if I went back. Not that they were bad if you're looking for a quick app that's not filling pretzels always work nothing special about them. For the entree I got the NY strip and my husband got a burger and oh my lord were they goooood!!! I highly recommend the NY strip it was good juicy and seasoned perfectly I added onion on mine and the fresh arugula salad on the side was just perfect!! I really enjoyed my dinner.
