The prices are exactly what one would want from a sandwich shop and the food is even better. In SF this place would charge at least ten bucks for every sandwich. Today I ordered the chicken philly ($7.50) and it was the best one I have had in years. That is really saying something. I didn't think I'd find one like this outside my own kitchen. Got steak cut fries with it and they were the perfect mixture of salty and crisp, gewy goodness. Potatoes fried the way they are supposed to be. Hell maybe even better than I make at home. Definitely faster ;) Maybe I should have given them the benefit of the doubt but you never know in the Bay Area. Even when you've been somewhere before, everything can change the following day. Awesomely enough, these guys are not hit or miss. They consistantly impress me. Ray's manburger is an unreal portion guaranteed to satisfy even gluttons like myself. The terra nova special is sick awesome as are the clubs and, truth be told, I'm pretty sure everything I've ever ordered here has beat my expectations. And I'm kind of a food jerk. Shrug. I want good food at a good price. Lock me up. I'm in the area often and it's just so damn cool that I have a bad ass sandwich place that I can count on to give me what I crave for a good price. I almost never feel like I'm getting a deal when I eat out anymore. That makes sense as most things elsewhere are priced in line with the awesomeness they deliver, when they are good at what they do, and when they aren't, they still charge as if they were serving up fillet mignon. Not here. You get more than you pay for, by friendly staff, in pretty quick fashion, and it always tastes freaking awesome. I wish there were more places in the bay I could say that about. Maybe I'm biased because I love deli sandwiches so much, but I love Upper Crust deli. The meat always tastes fresh and they never skimp. I have never ventured over to the grill side of the menu, but it always looks good! Between the turkey, pastrami and blt, I don't know I'll ever make it any further. We just finished hiking nearby and needed to grab lunch before heading back to the South Bay. We had the Upper Crust Dog, Smoked Turkey and Bacon, and Italian meatball. The teenage worker there showed my family a ton of attitude tonight. We love the upper crust and Goodfellas, but they have a "bad seed" of a hire with the young adult there right now. Poor manners, poor awareness, and outright rude. He doesn't match the very nice ownership of these establishments and I hope he gets fired. read more

I sort of have mixed feelings about this place. The sandwiches are good, not the best I've ever had, but good. They've got a variety of stuff here, the typical things you might expect from any sandwich shop. My biggest complaint was how long it took on a recent trip there. Even during prior trips they're not quite the fastest. On weekends it seems like only one person is making the sandwiches but they took an exceedingly long amount of time. Waited at least 40 minutes for my food! It wasn't that busy either, but orders were just coming out very slow. If you don't mind the wait though, it's a decent sandwich shop if you're in the area. read more

This place is awesome! Had the spicy diamond and my friend had the meatball. Both were unbelievable. Spicy diamond is grilled roast beef, onions and bacon with house made jalapeño dressing and chipotle dressing. Just got better with every bite. The meatballs were juicy and and full of flavor. This is now easily my favorite deli on the peninsula. Prices are unbelievably low. Like $5 to $7 low. I would go here if they were $10. A must stop. read more

I go there for lunch all the time. Pro Tip: get the 10 sandwhich (or 10 bagel) punch card. Also call your order in and you will be in and out very fast. Good selection of hot and cold sandwhiches. House oven roasted Turkey 2 days a week (Tue and Friday if I'm not mistaken). My personal favorite is the 2 Bridges. The sourdough roll is nice and chewey, the dutch crunch is softer without being too soft. Cheesesteaks are very good, especially for the $7 price range. Add the steak fries! There is a lot of good deli and hot meat sandwhiches that are very well priced and prepared and beats all the other sandwhich shops in the area. read more

I have gone to this deli about a million times, I went to high school at Terra Nova (right up the street) and this place was one of our all-time favorite lunch spots. The sandwiches here are unbelieveable, again, just a little hole-in-the-wall that is SO GOOD. They pile on the meat and veggies and everything while leaving off the attitude or corporate atmosphere. The people that work here are a couple of characters, kind of weird, but loveable and very nice. They also have a great selection of beverages and candy and chips and pretty much everything you could ever want at a deli. I've been here about 3-4 times, with my first time being on a recommendation from you guys on yelp (thank you very much!) Upper Crust Deli is a small shop located inside a strip mall, but you need to go inside the courtyard area to get to the deli. It's rather unassuming and easy to miss. There's about 3-4 tables for two inside if you wish to eat there, but during my time there, I notice they do quite a bit of take-out. The first time I came I tried upper crust burger. I'm not sure if my order was cooked incorrectly, or if all the burgers come like this, but mine came with three patties! It was ridiculous, and as much as I tried, I couldn't finish it. We ordered a side of onion rings, nothing too special, but they were good- what you would expect- nothing more, nothing less. The prices for most of the hot sandwiches range in the $5-8 or so (I'm not positive, just working off memory here), which is very reasonably priced considering the quality. The second time coming, I decided to try the philly cheesesteak. Now this is where they got me. lol. It comes loaded with peppers, onions, cheese, etc etc. Good stuff. I'm not sure what it is about it, but it's just incredibly good.. Even parts that didn't have meat were good. Made me even consider trying out the veggie cheesesteak, and that's saying alot, as I'm quite the carnivore. I came back a third time, because I found myself CRAVING another philly cheesesteak. lol! One thing I've noticed in my few visits here was that the person who's always behind the counter (who I'm assuming is the owner) always seems to try and make an effort to greet and get to know his customers. He seems like a pretty sincere guy- always trying to make conversation out of anything he can, and it seems his efforts pay off, as the customers who come in always seem to be returning customers. So, while the insides of their sandwiches are tasty combinations of meats, cheese, and various sandwich fixings (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sauce), the overall sandwich falls short of being anything above average because the bread is just fine. When compared to Columbo's daily fresh baked bread, the "just fine" bread results in an inferior sandwich. Therefore, Columbo's sandwiches continue to reign supreme, even though their prices are nearly double that of Upper Crust Deli. read more

Been going here since I was a little kid. Was friends with the original owner and now fiends with the new owner. Perfect spot for a good, well priced, sandwich or something off their grill menu (good burgers). If your not from around here you prob will never know of this gem. Dude this place is so good, I'll drive here from San Mateo to get their meatball sandwich. I grew up in Pacifica, and I used to stop here after school (Ortega Middle and Terra Nova High). The best deli Pacifica has to offer (Colombos is good but overrated). It just keeps getting better & better as they continue to make more improvements. Their deli sandwiches are da bomb and anything from the grill is fresh, tasty and so affordable. Turkey burgers, chicken philly, fries are yum yum yummy and hits the spot.
